Mexican Restaurant

Hi folks. I'm hoping to find a fun authentic Mexican restaurant to take my son to for his 30th birthday this Thursday. Willing to branch out of Livermore, but not more than half hour away. I've looked at TA and there doesn't seem to be much to choose from. Someone told me El Chaparrito Taqueria, but I don't seem them on TA. Any input is appreciated. OH yeah - and good margaritas!

For a fun and authentic Mexican dining experience near Livermore, you have several options within about a 30-minute drive that are well-suited for a birthday celebration with good food and margaritas.

El Chaparrito Taqueria is a local favorite for authentic street-style tacos, but it may not appear on larger review sites because it’s smaller and more of a casual spot. It’s excellent for quick bites and authentic flavors, though it may not have a full sit-down dining experience or elaborate margaritas.

If you are looking for a full-service restaurant with a festive atmosphere and quality margaritas, consider these options:

  • Don Jose’s Mexican Restaurant – Livermore: Known for its classic Mexican dishes, enchiladas, and tacos. They have a lively atmosphere and a good selection of margaritas. It’s very convenient if you want to stay within Livermore.
  • La Costa Mexican Restaurant – Pleasanton: About 10 minutes from Livermore. Offers authentic Mexican cuisine in a comfortable sit-down setting. Margaritas are well-reviewed, and the portions are generous.
  • El Charro – Pleasanton: Another popular spot with a festive vibe, traditional Mexican dishes, and strong margaritas. Suitable for a celebration dinner.
  • Casa Bella Mexican Restaurant – Dublin: About 15 minutes away, known for authentic flavors, family-friendly environment, and specialty margaritas.

For a birthday dinner, you might prioritize ambiance and drinks, so La Costa or El Charro could be the better choice over smaller taquerias, while El Chaparrito is excellent for casual, authentic tacos if you’re okay with a more informal setting.

Tip: Since it’s a Thursday night, consider calling ahead for reservations or to check wait times, as popular spots can get busy.
