We will be staying 1 night in Ouray in June. From Ouray, is Bear Creek Falls before the drop off sections (with no guard rails) on the Million Dollar Highway? We’ve already decided we don’t want to drive it because of the drop offs but would like to go the falls if possible. Thanks.
Bear Creek Falls is a beautiful waterfall located near Ouray, Colorado, and it is accessible without having to drive the most exposed sections of the Million Dollar Highway (US 550). The trailhead for Bear Creek Falls is located on the south side of Ouray along US 550, just before the highway climbs into the more dangerous sections with steep drop-offs and minimal guardrails. Therefore, you can visit the falls without encountering the most hazardous parts of the route.
