Accommodations in Morro Bay

Looking for local accommodations in Morro Bay for a family of 4 in July, open to hotel or AirBnB/VRBO (2 adults and 2 kids under 6). We would stay for 2-3 nights. Here is our wish list:

- We would preferably like two adjoining rooms or a place with two separate sleeping areas/rooms.

- Nice/luxurious for adults but fun for kids (activities, or water slides, or something special like animals, horses, fruit picking, etc).

- Walkable to local attractions/restaurants

Thank you in advance!

Morro Bay is a charming coastal town with a relaxed vibe, perfect for families. For your July stay with two adults and two kids under 6, there are a few accommodation options that could meet your needs for comfort, kid-friendly features, and proximity to local attractions.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Hotel Options:
    • Morro Bay Inn: Located along the Embarcadero, within walking distance to restaurants and shops. Some rooms offer separate sleeping areas for families, and the bay views are lovely. It’s quiet and comfortable, with easy access to boat tours and kid-friendly activities like tidepooling.
    • Embassy Suites by Hilton Morro Bay: Family-friendly suites with two separate sleeping areas, living space, and kitchenettes. Offers complimentary breakfast and a pool, which is fun for kids. Short drive to the waterfront and local attractions.
    • Blue Sail Inn: Boutique-style hotel with family suites and bay views. Some rooms can accommodate kids with sofa beds or multiple sleeping areas. Convenient for walking to shops and restaurants.
  • Vacation Rentals (Airbnb/VRBO):
    • Search for 2-bedroom condos or houses along the Embarcadero or near Morro Rock. Many have full kitchens, living spaces, and private outdoor areas for kids to play.
    • Look for rentals with family-friendly amenities like cribs, high chairs, and fenced yards. Some offer extras like kayaks, paddleboards, or bicycles for exploring.
    • Consider properties a short drive to nearby farms or attractions for fruit picking or animal encounters (e.g., Sweet Springs Nature Preserve or small local farms offering seasonal picking).

Additional Tips:

  • Booking early is crucial for July as Morro Bay fills quickly, especially family-friendly accommodations.
  • For a luxurious feel while still keeping kids entertained, a suite-style hotel or a vacation rental with a separate bedroom works best.
  • Activities within walking distance: Morro Rock and beach, Embarcadero for dining and shops, and small tidepool areas for children.
  • Optional extras: Some rentals or hotels provide kid-friendly packages or access to nearby activities like miniature golf, horseback riding, or local wildlife experiences.

By choosing either a suite-style hotel or a spacious vacation rental, you can have both luxury for adults and fun experiences for kids, all while staying within walking distance of Morro Bay’s attractions.
