UMASS to Bradley Airport Hartford/Windsor Locks

Has anyone used a transportation service to go from UMASS to Bradley Airport? There are a few on the UMASS website: Valley Transporter, Seemo Shuttle, Exclusive Car Service, Bluebird Transportation. I'm looking for recommendations to get my son to the airport. Peter Pan bus goes to Springfield, but not the airport. Thanks for your help!

Traveling from UMass Amherst to Bradley International Airport (BDL) is a very common route for students, and several reliable transportation options are available. Because Peter Pan does not run directly to the airport, most families use one of the shuttle or car services recommended by the university.

The good news is that all the services listed—Valley Transporter, Seemo Shuttle, Exclusive Car Service, and Bluebird Transportation—are well-established companies that frequently handle student airport transfers. The best choice will depend on price, schedule, level of service, and whether your son prefers a shared ride or a private pickup.

Below are the main options and what travelers typically like or dislike about each.

  • Valley Transporter – This is one of the most popular choices among UMass families. They offer shared and private rides, operate daily, and have a long track record serving the Amherst area. Their shared shuttles run on fixed schedules, so it’s important to book early, especially around holidays.
  • Seemo Shuttle – Known for friendly service and reasonable prices. They provide both shared and private transportation and are often praised for being dependable and on time. This is a strong choice for students who want a direct, no-stress ride.
  • Exclusive Car Service – A higher-end option offering private sedans, SUVs, or vans. This is ideal if you prefer door-to-door service with guaranteed pickup times and no sharing with other passengers. Prices are higher but reliability and comfort receive very positive feedback.
  • Bluebird Transportation – Another reliable local service with strong reviews. They are flexible, offer private rides, and tend to be competitively priced. Many parents like them for early-morning or late-night airport runs.

If you’d prefer alternatives beyond the university-listed shuttle companies, there are other methods that can work, though they may require an extra step or more planning.

  • Peter Pan Bus + Uber/Lyft from Springfield – Your son can take Peter Pan from Amherst to Springfield and then use a rideshare to reach Bradley Airport. This can sometimes be cheaper but adds an extra transfer and may be less convenient with luggage.
  • Zipcar from UMass – If your son has a license and is comfortable driving, renting a Zipcar for a one-way drop is an option, though availability and cost can vary.
  • Local Taxi Companies – Amherst and Hadley taxis also make airport runs, though they often charge similar rates to the dedicated shuttle companies.

For most families, Valley Transporter and Seemo Shuttle are the most commonly recommended for reliability, cost, and experience with student travel schedules. If your son has an early morning flight, choosing a private service like Exclusive Car Service or Bluebird may provide added peace of mind.

No matter which option you choose, it’s smart to book early—especially at the beginning and end of semesters, holiday weeks, and long weekends, when demand is high. All companies will pick up directly from the UMass campus or any dorm, making the process very straightforward.
