Amsterdam blends Golden Age charm with modern creativity — canals, gabled houses, buzzing bikes and world-class museums all packed into a walkable maze.
Day 1 – Canals & Culture
Start your morning wandering the historic canal belt, a UNESCO treasure lined with crooked houses and arched bridges. Grab a stroopwafel from a street stall before spending a few hours at the Rijksmuseum, home to Rembrandt’s Night Watch and centuries of Dutch masterpieces.
Step next door to the Van Gogh Museum for a vivid dive into the artist’s turbulent life. In the afternoon, explore the charming Jordaan district, full of indie boutiques and brown cafés — perfect for a canal-side beer. End the day with a sunset canal cruise, when the bridges glow and the city feels like a painting.
Day 2 – History & Local Life
Begin with a reflective visit to the Anne Frank House, one of Amsterdam’s most moving sites (book ahead). From there, head to the Nine Streets for vintage shops, cheese tastings and quirky design stores.
In the afternoon, rent a bike and ride through Vondelpark, the city’s green heart, or pedal out to the futuristic NDSM Wharf across the water — a converted shipyard filled with street art and industrial cafés. As evening falls, walk through the Red Light District — not just for nightlife, but for its centuries-old alleys, lit canals and buzzing energy.
