Tales of the tin mining towns: Kek Lok Si & Taiping

Penang and northern peninsula is one of our favourite places for short break in Malaysia.

this region, which was developed and civilized largely due to the tin mining activities more than 100 years ago has deep immigrant Chinese history. Kek Lok Si is one of the places that one should visit if you happen to be in Malaysia. Do go there as early as you could do try the hawker center near Kek Lok Si whereby you could taste the super delicious Prawn Noodle, Asam Laksa and Roti Prata before embarking the visit to Kek Lok Si. Not to forget to feed the tortoise that were in the temple for more than 40 years. we stay at Hardrock Penang for this trip to spend most of the time at the resort. #hardrockpenang

in contrast to Penang's vibracy and exuberance, we visited the serene town not far from Penang on the way home: Taiping. Taiping 太平 in mandarin means peace and tranquil. it is a small beautiful town where one will fall in love. Taiping has nothing much to offer apart from it's serenity and park. there is a very nice zoo adjoining to the Taiping Park, of which in my humble opinion, is one of the best value zoo on earth.

do give Taiping river fish a try and i am sure you will love it!
