Once the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Forbidden City took 14 years to build and was home to 24 emperors. It’s one of the largest and best-preserved ancient wooden architectural complexes in the world — truly a masterpiece of history and culture.

Currently, it’s peak season:
• Main ticket: ¥60 per person
• Treasure Gallery & Clock Gallery: ¥10 each
Discounts are available for students, seniors, and disabled visitors. Children under 18 enter free, but all tickets must be reserved online in advance. Don’t forget your ID!



🗺️ Recommended Routes

1️⃣ Classic Central Axis Route (3 hours)
Enter from Meridian Gate (Wu Men) and walk straight through:
→ Taihe Gate → Hall of Supreme Harmony → Hall of Central Harmony → Hall of Preserving Harmony → Gate of Heavenly Purity → Palace of Heavenly Purity → Hall of Union → Palace of Earthly Tranquility → Imperial Garden, exit via Gate of Divine Might (Shenwu Men).
Perfect for first-time visitors who want to experience the grandeur of the palace.

2️⃣ In-Depth East & West Palaces Route (5 hours)
Start again at Wu Men, visit Wuying Hall and Wenhua Hall, follow the same central route to the Imperial Garden, then explore the East and West Six Palaces for a deeper look at the daily life of the royal family. Exit at Shenwu Men.

• The Forbidden City is huge — wear comfortable shoes! 👟
• Bring your ID card/passport, as it’s required for entry.
• Some halls and exhibitions don’t allow photography, so please follow the rules.
