Experience Beijing’s Icons: Tiananmen Square & The Palace Museum 🏛️🇨🇳
Step into China’s living history with a walk through Tiananmen Square and the majestic Palace Museum (Forbidden City)! Expect grand Chinese architecture and wide-open cultural landscapes.
Start bright and early (crowds build fast!). Begin at Tiananmen Square. Must-do: snap a close-up with Mao Zedong’s portrait hanging overhead on Tiananmen Gate Tower.
Stroll north to the Palace Museum. This UNESCO masterpiece dazzles with golden roofs, intricate woodwork, and countless courtyards - give yourself 2–3 hours. Don’t miss the Meridian Gate pathway for sweeping panorama shots of Beijing’s finest Chinese architecture.
Tickets: Book online ahead - walk-ins usually aren’t possible, especially during peak times. Arrive before 8:30 for crisp light, fewer selfie sticks, and quieter halls.
Bring water, sunscreen, and wear comfy shoes: there’s LOTS of walking! Security checks at Tiananmen are strict - passport required. Stay alert for big crowds, especially midday and weekends; that early start pays off!
