Don't wander aimlessly when enjoying autumn in Beijing! Follow this route starting from the North Gate (Ruyi Gate) to capture the essence of the Summer Palace, saving time while getting stunning photos.
Route (approx. 3 hours): North Gate (Ruyi Gate) → Strolling Through the Picture → Long Corridor → Tower of Buddhist Incense → Hall of Joyful Longevity → Hall of Benevolence and Longevity (Exit through the East Palace Gate)
1. Strolling Through the Picture: Head straight in from the North Gate! The vermilion pillars contrast beautifully with the colorful leaves, offering a serene view of Kunming Lake. Perfect for capturing ancient architecture amidst autumn scenery.
2. Long Corridor: Just down the steps, you'll find the 700-meter-long corridor adorned with colorful paintings and fallen leaves. Stroll leisurely and take breaks as needed.
3. Tower of Buddhist Incense: At the northern end of the Long Corridor, ascend the steps to the top for a panoramic view of the entire garden in autumn. Red maples and Kunming Lake are all within sight.
4. Hall of Joyful Longevity: Southeast of the Tower of Buddhist Incense, this area features yellow leaves on gray bricks. Explore the former royal residence and savor the tranquil autumn atmosphere.
5. Hall of Benevolence and Longevity: Visit this last. The red walls paired with ginkgo trees make for stunning historical photos. Afterward, conveniently exit through the East Palace Gate.
Tips:
• Best time to visit: Late October to early November. Arrive at the North Gate before 9 AM to avoid crowds.
• Outfit: Light-colored clothing and comfortable shoes for better photos.
