Sayram Lake: Nature’s Secret in Western China

Nestled at the westernmost edge of China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Sayram Lake (赛里木湖, Sailimu Hu) is one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in Central Asia.

Known as the “Last Tear of the Atlantic”, this pristine alpine lake sits at an elevation of approximately 2,073 meters (6,801 feet) above sea level, making it the highest and largest alpine lake in Xinjiang.
