Changsha, Hunan, China is a world-famous tourist resort city. Every day, thousands of tourists come here for sightseeing and vacation. There are many scenic spots in Changsha. This time I will introduce a very famous local attraction: Orange Island.
1. Geographical location
Orange Island is located in the center of the Xiangjiang River in Yuelu District, Changsha City. It is one of the many alluvial sandbars in the lower reaches of the Xiangjiang River. It is about 5 kilometers long, 40 to 140 meters wide, and shaped like a long island.

2. Historical background
- Orange Island is famous for Mao Zedong's poem "沁园春·长沙", in which the line "Standing alone in the cold autumn, the Xiang River flows north, at the head of Orange Island" is widely recited.
- Historically, Orange Island was a popular tourist destination for scholars and writers, and was also a place Mao Zedong often visited in his youth.

3. Main attractions
- **Mao Zedong Youth Art Sculpture**: The sculpture is 32 meters high, 83 meters long and 41 meters wide. It is based on the image of Mao Zedong in his youth in 1925, showing Mao Zedong's vigor and vitality.
- Wentiantai: Located at Zhoutou, it is a viewing platform overlooking the Xiangjiang River and Yuelu Mountain.
- Orange Island Fireworks: During major festivals, Orange Island will hold fire shows, attracting a large number of tourists.
- Orange Garden: There are a lot of orange trees planted on the island. When the oranges are ripe in autumn, the scenery is pleasant.

- Orange Island often hosts various cultural activities, such as music festivals, poetry readings, etc.
- Every autumn, Orange Island holds the "Orange Island International Photography Festival", attracting photography enthusiasts from home and abroad.

- Opening hours: Open all day, but some attractions such as the Mao Zedong sculpture area have specific opening hours (usually 8:00-18:00).
