Chengdu Wenshuiyuan

Chengdu Wenshuiyuan (文殊院) is a representative Buddhist temple located in the center of Chengdu, and is a space where you can feel the atmosphere of a traditional temple in the middle of the city. It is said to have been founded during the Tang Dynasty, and the current building was rebuilt in the style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Although it is relatively small compared to large temples, its structure is well-organized, making it easy to see even in a short time.

Since it is open to the public without an admission fee, it is often visited by locals, and tourists can also visit without burden. After passing through the main gate, you can feel the quiet and neat atmosphere unique to temples, with the main hall enshrining Manjusri Bodhisattva, a Buddhist temple, a corridor, a garden, and a pond centered around it. In particular, the sight of people burning incense and praying in a quiet space is impressive.

Although it is in the city, it does not feel crowded, and it is a good place to slowly walk around the small grounds and look around. Wenshuiyuan, where you can appreciate both historical value and traditional architectural beauty, is a place worth visiting at least once when visiting Chengdu.
