Anyone visiting Chiang Mai who hasn't climbed Doi Suthep has been considered to have not arrived yet! 🙈 This is truly a landmark of the province.
🚗 There are several ways to get to the temple: by red car, by renting a motorbike, or by driving. The road up is winding and uphill, with stunning views along the way. 🍃 At the top, you'll find a long Naga staircase with over 300 steps. Alternatively, you can take the cable car. 🛗
✨ The highlight here is the dazzling golden chedi, which catches the eye in the sunlight. ☀️ There's also a panoramic viewpoint of Chiang Mai from above. 📸
🐒 Another charming feature that many people recognize is the "Mom," the temple's mythical creature. Chiang Mai residents believe these are guardians who protect the sacred grounds from evil. 🛡️ They are beautifully decorated around the temple grounds.
📌 Opening Hours: 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM
🎟️ Admission: Free for Thais / 30 baht for foreigners
⸻
💡 Tips
• If you go in the morning, the weather is cool and there are fewer people. 🙏
• Dress appropriately before entering the temple. 👗
• Bring water with you, as the stairs are a bit tiring. 😆
⸻
If you're planning a trip to Chiang Mai, don't forget to pay your respects at Phra That Doi Suthep. 💛 Have you ever seen a real moth? 🐉
