Fulfill your Hohhot grassland adventure, encounter freedom and romance, and stay at Lemon Smart Hotel to elevate your perfect journey.
At the beginning of this travel note, I must mention Lemon Smart Hotel. Why highlight this seemingly unrelated detail in a scenic-focused post? Because here, I truly experienced the staff's kindness and the warmth and sincerity of northern Chinese hospitality. When a travel companion suddenly fell ill, the front desk thoughtfully provided a first-aid kit, persuaded us to seek medical help, and even arranged transportation to the hospital. Fortunately, it was just a minor cold and stomach discomfort—no serious issue. Their care was deeply touching, and I’m truly grateful 🙏🏻
*"Vast is the sky, boundless the wild, / Grass bends in wind, revealing cattle and child."* This poetic verse, casually recited, reflects every Chinese person's yearning for the grasslands. We all dream of stepping onto those endless plains one day. And the moment you finally set foot on this land, it feels like entering a green kingdom forgotten by time—every blade of grass whispers tales of freedom and vastness.
For this trip, we chose the Daqing Mountain Highland Grassland Scenic Belt. Stretching about 290 kilometers, it connects Saihan District in the east to Tumed Left Banner in the west, linking unique highland grasslands like Shengshui Ridge, Huanghua Wopu, Hadamen, Naoer Ridge, Jing'er Ridge, and Jinluan Palace Mountain. At Shengshui Ridge, dense vegetation and rolling birch and pine forests make you feel like you’ve stepped into a green fairy tale—it’s also a filming location for *Genghis Khan*. Jinluan Palace Mountain, shrouded in mystery, boasts numerous peaks, rare flowers, and sheer cliffs. From its summit, you can gaze at the Yellow River winding like a ribbon and admire the vibrant slopes up close. Hadamen National Forest Park features endless mountain ranges, deep valleys, and boundless highland grasslands, along with attractions like Stubborn Stone Pond and Three-Step Waterfall—every step offers a breathtaking view.
A trip to Hohhot’s grasslands isn’t complete without experiencing authentic nomadic life. Step into a yurt in Xilamuren Grassland, sip a bowl of savory milk tea, and listen to herders share stories of the plains. Mount a spirited horse and gallop freely across the grassland, feeling the wind roar past your ears. Join a lively bonfire party, dance with Mongolian friends around the flames, and let the melodious long-tune songs echo under the starry sky. Spend the night in a yurt, lulled to sleep by the dazzling stars, and dream of the grasslands.
Here, you can truly leave all worries behind, surrounded by blue skies, white clouds, green grass, and grazing sheep—finding freedom and tranquility deep within your soul.
