A super awesome hidden gem island quieter than Xiamen and cheaper than Sanya is here

Stop crowding Xiamen and Sanya! This small island in Fujian has fewer people and beautiful scenery, and you can eat your fill for just 50 yuan per person! 😱

Everyone! I finally found a hidden gem island that’s quieter than Xiamen and cheaper than Sanya—Dongshan Island! 😭 After 5 days, I didn’t want to leave. The sea is super blue, the food is incredibly delicious, and best of all, there are so few people you can have the beach all to yourself. This trip was totally worth it!

First, let me tell you about the preparations! Be sure to bring your ID and student ID, some places offer discounts~👕 The island’s weather is changeable, so pack light clothes, swimwear, and sun-protective clothing. It gets a bit chilly at night, so bringing a light jacket is a must! Choose a high SPF sunscreen—I didn’t apply enough last time and got two shades darker! Also, bring a waterproof phone pouch; it’s essential for the beach~

Transportation is super convenient! I took the high-speed train to Yunxiao Station, then transferred to a shuttle bus for 40 minutes to get there~✈️ If you want to fly, you can fly to Xiamen or Chaoshan and then transfer by car. The journey is smooth and you can enjoy the scenery along the way, no hassle at all~

Let me strongly recommend some must-visit spots! Nanmen Bay has such a great vibe; the filming location for "The Left Ear" didn’t disappoint~🏠 Colorful houses by the sea, the sunset reflecting on the water in the evening, just grab a camping chair, order a drink, and every photo you take will be full of atmosphere!

Be sure to check the tide schedule before visiting Nanyu’s double-sided sea! 🌊 At low tide, the “Angel Road” appears. When you reach the green lighthouse, you’ll feel like you’re in a movie! I happened to catch it when I went, and every photo I took was breathtaking. Just watch your step for safety~

Riding a small electric scooter around Su Feng Mountain’s coastal road is super fun! 🛵 Half cliff, half sea, the wind on your face feels amazing. You can stop anywhere along the way for wallpaper-worthy views. I was riding and taking photos nonstop; my phone storage almost ran out~

The food is the real highlight! You must try Brother Tie’s Four Fruit Soup, it’s refreshing and cuts through the richness. Minnan mixed rice is so satisfying with every bite~🦆 At Triangle Point, the Dongshan ginger duck is worth queuing for. The old lady slow-cooks the duck until it’s super tender, and the aroma fills the whole street. I almost missed out because I went late!

For accommodation, Tong Inn in Tongshanli is a perfect choice! 🌊 It’s right next to Nanmen Bay, with large floor-to-ceiling windows in the rooms offering sea views. The host even provides travel guides, and you can rent electric scooters downstairs, making getting around super easy. I woke up every day to see the sea, pure happiness~

What matters most to you when you go to an island? Sea views or food? Let’s chat in the comments, maybe next time I can follow your tips to check out new spots~👇
