Mogao Caves (Dunhuang)

#chinatravel

The Mogao Caves are truly one of the most awe-inspiring places I’ve ever visited. Set on the edge of the Gobi Desert, these ancient Buddhist grottoes house some of the world’s oldest and most intricate religious art. The colors, the detail, and the sense of devotion in each cave left me speechless. You can only visit a limited number of caves per tour to protect the artwork, but even just a few are enough to leave a deep impression. The digital exhibition center is also excellent and helps provide essential context before going in. This place feels sacred—timeless and powerful.
