Super Kid-Friendly Sun Island in Harbin

There are several ways to get to Sun Island: subway, ferry, or cable car. We chose to take the ferry, which offers three ticket options:
① ¥2: Disembark at Pier 7 and walk to the main attractions.
② ¥10: Disembark at Pier 3, directly at the main attractions.
③ ¥35: Enjoy a scenic cruise along the Songhua River before disembarking at Pier 3.

When buying tickets, the saleswoman strongly urged us to purchase the ¥35 option. After some discussion, we decided on the ¥2 ticket, which seemed to upset her. At that moment, we were tempted to call the tourism bureau to file a complaint.

Once on the island, we realized how vast it is! There are paid transportation options available, such as mini trains, electric carts, and tandem bicycles. Since the weather was overcast that day, we opted to stroll around and enjoy the sights as we went.

The main attractions on Sun Island include: Water Pavilion in the Clouds, Deer Park, Squirrel Island, Sun Waterfall, Swan Lake, Clumsy Bear Amusement Park, camping areas, wetlands, and the Historical and Cultural Street, among others. Many of these attractions require additional fees for entry.

After walking around, we had one main takeaway: this is a fantastic place for families with kids. With playgrounds, green spaces, and recreational facilities, it’s a great spot to relax in the city. However, as a tourist, it’s not necessarily a must-visit destination.
