Hualien - A Must-Visit Destination in Taiwan

What is the best season to visit Hualien? Spring, from March to May, is the ideal time. The weather is mild, flowers are in full bloom, and it's perfect for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and exploring the trails of Taroko Gorge. The average temperature in Hualien ranges from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius.

The most convenient, affordable, and popular way to travel from Taipei to Hualien is by train. Opting for the Taroko Express or Puyuma Express takes about 2 hours, with tickets priced at approximately $14 USD (350,000 VND). Alternatively, regular trains take 3-4 hours. It's recommended to book train tickets in advance, as they often sell out on weekends and holidays.

For those considering buses, passengers can travel from Hualien Station to Banqiao Station in Taipei. The journey takes about 3.5 hours, with ticket prices starting at $11 USD. Most accommodations, including hotels and homestays, are located in Hualien City, while others are in nearby towns like Ji'an and Shoufeng. Room rates range from $20 to over $100 USD.
