Red algae will accumulate and produce calcium carbonate during their growth, and finally become as hard as stone, like small shell grains and popcorn. Since the beach formed by red algae is rare in the world, the sand of the white beach has been designated as the 438th Natural Monument of Korea and cannot be taken away.
