Kiyomizu-dera, or the Clear Water Temple, is a beautiful temple located on Mount Otawa. It boasts Otawa Waterfall, considered sacred water, and visitors can drink it to make a wish.

A must-see highlight of Kiyomizu Temple is its grand wooden building and 13-meter-high balcony, built without a single nail. Legend from the Edo period tells of a jump from this wooden balcony, which states, "If you survive the jump, your wish will come true." A person actually survived. However, jumping from this balcony is now prohibited.

The temple entrance is lined with shops and restaurants. If you visit in September, you might encounter extreme heat and summer storms.
