The Kinkaku-ji Temple exterior route is simple, so it doesn't take long to see, and the clearly defined photo route was impressive. 🏯 Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by the lakefront view, allowing me to see key spots without waiting. The entire tour took about 30-40 minutes, even at a leisurely pace. The well-organized signage minimized any confusion.
The building itself was well-maintained, and the weather greatly impacts the reflections, so choosing the right time of day is crucial. It's worth considering that the temple is often crowded, so there may be a wait for photos. The interior is closed, so you'll have to focus on the exterior. 📸 It's more of a tourist attraction focused on "viewing the view + taking commemorative photos" than on unique experiences.
Overall, it's a short route with clear attractions and symbolic meaning, making it a worthwhile addition to any first-time Kyoto itinerary. However, since your stay will not be long, it's more efficient to combine it with nearby tourist attractions (Ginkaku-ji Temple, Roppongi-ji Temple, Nanzen-ji Temple, etc.). 🚶♂️
