A-Ma Temple (媽閣廟) is a significant ancient temple in Macau, located in the southern part of the island. Built in 1488, it combines Buddhist, Taoist, and folk beliefs. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005 and is a highly revered sacred site by both locals and tourists. Originally, there was a bay called A-Ma Goa, which translates to "A-Ma Bay," before it became "Macau," as it is today. However, due to land reclamation, A-Ma Temple is no longer located on the beach as it once was.
