Recently took the kids to Qingdao and discovered a hidden gem near May Fourth Square 🏨—Miaomi Homestay! This place is definitely the most kid-friendly homestay I've stayed at this year; even my picky kids didn’t want to leave 👶🏻✨
It’s just a taxi ride away from May Fourth Square with the starting fare, and a 10-minute walk to embrace the sea 🌊. The family room we chose blew my mind—the room comes with a slide and a ball pit! At night, the kids played wildly until they were completely exhausted, and this tired mom finally got to lie down and binge-watch shows (so touched). The room is equipped with a full set of baby sterilizers, bottle warmers, and even a child’s potty seat. The thoughtfulness rivals Doraemon’s pocket 🎒
The sea view room on the fifth floor has an amazing view 🌅! We were lucky to grab the last one. In the morning, we watched the sun rise over the sea right from the bed, and at night, we could see the light show at May Fourth Square dancing on the window. The kitchen has an induction cooker and all the pots and pans you need. Just a few steps downstairs is the Aeon supermarket, where you can buy seafood to boil at the homestay, saving half the cost compared to eating in tourist spots 🦐
The housekeeper replies instantly on WeChat and is super responsible! One day, the kid spilled milk on the sofa, and within ten minutes, an auntie arrived with professional cleaning supplies. But a heads-up: some rooms facing the road can hear traffic noise in the morning, so light sleepers might want to bring earplugs 🎧
💡 Practical Tips:
1. Sea view rooms in peak season (June to August) need to be booked two weeks in advance. We stayed in the off-season in February for just over 200 RMB per person (remember to request a baby crib if bringing kids).
2. To get to Taidong Night Market, it’s best to take a 15-minute taxi directly; avoid the subway (the transfers will make you question life).
3. The homestay doesn’t provide disposable toothbrushes, but you can ask the housekeeper for a children’s toothbrush set.
The biggest surprise on this trip was discovering a local-only seaside trail right behind the homestay 🌊. Early mornings were spent beachcombing and collecting shells with the kids, afternoons flying kites at May Fourth Square, and evenings soaking in a hot bath—this is the true way to enjoy Qingdao’s slow life! When checking out, the kids clung to the slide crying, and this mom quietly saved the housekeeper’s WeChat, ready for a second visit 😂
