Gyeongbokgung Palace, the main palace of the Joseon Dynasty, carries over 600 years of history and is a must-see cultural landmark in Seoul. It's recommended to exit from Exit 5 of Gyeongbokgung Station on Subway Line 3 and walk for 5 minutes to Gwanghwamun, the main gate.
Must-see Highlights:
1. Gwanghwamun: The main gate plaque is inscribed with traditional Chinese characters. Don't miss the changing of the guard ceremony at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM daily, allowing you to experience ancient court etiquette up close.
2. Geunjeongjeon: The main hall is magnificent, with a moonlit platform and colorful paintings that reflect the majesty of the dynasty. It was once the venue for the coronation ceremony.
3. Gyeonghoeru: A two-story pavilion built on a lotus pond, it boasts swaying lotus leaves in summer and snow-covered tiles in winter, creating a breathtaking view in all seasons.
