The Bund is a historic riverside district in Shanghai that began to develop in the 19th century when China opened its doors to Western trade. The area is home to classical European-style architecture, including banks, embassies, and trade offices, reflecting the era when Shanghai was a global financial and trade hub. Today, The Bund remains a significant landmark where tourists come to admire the beauty of its historic architecture while enjoying views of the modern skyscrapers in Pudong across the river.
Every day at 6:00 PM, the lights of the old European-style buildings along the river are illuminated, exuding a luxurious yet vintage charm. It feels like stepping back in time to Shanghai's golden age in the 19th century.
Looking across the river, the iconic Pearl Tower, adorned with colorful lights that change constantly, creates a modern contrast to the European buildings on the other side. The reflection of the Pearl Tower on the water is truly beyond words.
