Chaozhou Shantou | Nan'ao Island

Nan'ao Island, once plagued by pirates, is the only island county in Guangdong Province and is often referred to as the "Hawaii of Guangdong." It is highly recommended to drive to Nan'ao Island. As you cross the Nan'ao Bridge, the scenery on both sides is absolutely stunning! (Photos 6, 7)

1. The wind turbines on Nan'ao Island are located on coastal highlands, facing the azure sea. The surrounding environment is beautiful and the scenery is breathtaking. These wind turbines are not only picturesque landmarks but also symbols of local renewable energy. The area around the turbines is an ideal spot to watch the sunrise and sunset. (Photos 8, 9)

2. Qing'ao Bay on the eastern side of the island is the most beautiful beach on Nan'ao Island.

3. The Tropic of Cancer Plaza features a landmark tower called the "Gate of Nature," which stands tall on the horizon. Every year at noon on the summer solstice, when the sun shines directly over the Tropic of Cancer, the shadow will pass through the center of the sphere atop the "Gate of Nature" and project onto the central platform, creating the phenomenon of "no shadow at high noon." 4. Nan'ao Lighthouse: The lighthouse is situated by the sea and is a great spot for landscape photography. From the lighthouse, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the spectacular sea and the surrounding natural environment. (Photos 11, 12)

5. Huazhu·Nan'ao Madman's Inn: This is not just a guesthouse but also a cat café. It is open to non-guests as well—just order a cup of coffee to interact with the cats! (Photos 14, 15)

Shantou Xiaogongyuan (Small Park) is located in the old town area of Shantou and preserves the original street layout of Shantou from the 1930s. The area is filled with white European-style buildings, making it feel like stepping into a small European town. The red hexagonal pavilion adds a unique Chinese touch to the retro Western-style open port area, making it equally beautiful during the day and at night. (Photos 3, 4, 5)
