To be honest, if I hadn’t gone from Angkor Wat to Ta Prohm and seen Bayon from the outside, I probably wouldn’t have felt like visiting it at all 🌙 I knew almost nothing about it. But when I saw those towers with faces ✨ I immediately felt that this temple was a must see 💫

As I got closer and started to look at the carved walls and then at the giant faces, I realized that when people talk about the Mona Lisa, they have clearly never seen Bayon 🌟 Here there are dozens of faces and they are all smiling 💫 You just need to take a closer look to notice it ✨ Some of them are so well preserved that the feeling becomes even stronger 🌙🌟

Later I learned that Bayon was built as the main temple of the new capital Angkor Thom 🔮 It was designed as the center of the Khmer Empire’s world 🌌 The king wanted to show that he was the embodiment of divine wisdom and the protector of the people 🌟💫 and that he could see everyone.

It is surprising that there is so little information about this temple online and that it is not as popular as it deserves to be 🌙 For me Bayon turned out to be one of the most fascinating places in Angkor ✨ Highly recommend visiting 💫 Bayon is included in the small circuit temples you can explore with the main ticket 🌟
