Introduction: Tainan Confucius Temple was founded in the 19th year of the Yongli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1665). At that time, it was called "Temple of the First Teacher". It has a history of more than 300 years. It was founded by the Zheng Dynasty, the first Han regime on the island, in order to provide education in Taiwan and cultivate talents to serve the country. It continued to function during the Qing Dynasty and was the location of Taiwan Prefecture University, the highest government-run institution of learning in Taiwan. To this day, the Confucius Temple remains a holy temple for scholars and enjoys a lofty status.
