Travelled to Taiwan with my partner and his parents in decemberrrrr, and since it’s their first time in Taiwan, we decided to focus around Taichung and Taipei! 
Day 1: Touch down in Tao Yuan> Taichung 
Day 2: Day trip to Alishan 
Day 3: Sun Moon Lake 
Day 4: Tai Chung> Taipei 
Day 5: Day trip to Jiu Fen/Shi Fen/ Yeh Liu 
Day 6: Taipei 
Day 7: Taipei

It sounds hectic , but trust me, it’s pretty doable and we planned it in mind that we wanted the trip to be at a slower pace, without much hassle in travelling around, as we are travelling with older folks! 💯
We spend a total of less than SGD 2.1K per pax, which includes transport, food and accommodations! 
We booked local 3-4 star hotels, and we decided to not hire private transportation around Taiwan: 
1. Taipei Metro system is actually very well connected in Taipei itself
2. HSR from Taoyuan> Taichung, hotel is within walking distance from railway + we were doing 2 day trips! 
we saved up quite a bit of 💰on Transport, and uber is quite easy to get around Taiwan!
