The National Art Center in Roppongi impressed me even before I stepped inside—its sweeping glass façade is one of Tokyo’s most iconic architectural sights. The museum itself doesn’t have a permanent collection, which makes every visit fresh and different. When I visited, the featured exhibitions included both contemporary Japanese artists and international showcases, offering a fascinating mix. The airy, cathedral-like interior with its massive atrium was just as inspiring as the art itself. Even if you don’t spend hours in the galleries, the café and gift shop are worth stopping by. It’s a cultural hub that keeps Tokyo’s art scene vibrant.
