Uji: The City of Matcha and the Temple on the 100 Yen Coin

Uji is a charming city near Kyoto, easily accessible by train. The city is filled with Japanese green tea powder, or matcha, which is currently very popular in Thailand. There are various types available, ranging from affordable options to ceremonial grade. Uji is also home to Byodoin Temple, which is featured on the 100 yen coin that we often see. The temple has a beautiful museum, although photography is not allowed inside.
