Venice Roaming Guide|Lost Between the Romance and Traps of the Water City🌊
This floating city of art is truly magical! The morning light at St. Mark's Square, the legend of the Bridge of Sighs, and those winding canals—every inch is filled with stories. But beware of tourist traps; follow my tips to unlock the true way to enjoy Venice~
🚤 Classic Two-Day Itinerary:
DAY 1:
7:30 AM head straight to the Doge's Palace, fewer people in the early session and you can see the magical light and shadow through the Gothic windows. Remember to enter from the Porta del Frumento entrance! The Bridge of Sighs is right at the exit, said to be most beautiful at sunset.
At noon, turn into the alleys to find traditional Cicchetti bars, recommended All'Arco (San Polo 436), standing while eating is the local style. In the afternoon, stroll along the Rialto Bridge, but keep your wallet tight at the souvenir shops on the bridge!
DAY 2:
Get up early to claim the empty St. Mark's Square and watch the pigeons circle in the "European living room." The bell tower ticket is €8, worth it for the panoramic view. Note: an espresso at the square’s café costs €15! It’s better to walk to Campo San Stefano to find the old favorite La Rivista (around €3 per person).
In the evening, take the Line 4 water bus to Murano, the glass island, where the colorful houses at sunset look like a spilled palette. Remember to catch the last boat back to the main island at 7:30 PM!
💡 Hard-Earned Tips:
1. Public toilets charge from €1.5, prepare coins! McDonald's and museum restrooms are the cleanest.
2. Check the menu carefully in restaurants: some charge a triple hit of "seat fee" and "service fee."
3. Stay in the San Marco area on the main island; though expensive, it saves travel time. Recommended Hotel Nazario Palace, with a balcony facing the Grand Canal.
4. Getting lost is a hidden way to enjoy Venice, but after dark, be sure to follow the "Per San Marco" signs.
🍝 Food Hits and Misses:
✔️ Trattoria Bar Pontini (Castello 3688) has amazing seafood pasta.
❌ Avoid any restaurant around the square with Chinese menus!
🍦 Recommended Gelato Fantasy (Dorsoduro 3584), the pistachio flavor has a crunchy texture.
