Gulangyu Island, Xiamen, China

Gulangyu Island, located to the west of Xiamen in China, was registered as a World Cultural Heritage site in 2017. The entire island is a small rocky island. In the 18th century, various countries had consulates here, and many Westerners lived on the island, giving it an exotic atmosphere that remains to this day. Access to the island is only by ferry, and there are no cars or motorcycles on the island, allowing for a leisurely pace of life. Gulangyu Island is also known as the Island of Music. Western music has been popular on Gulangyu Island since ancient times, and even today, there are more than 400 pianos on the island, and there are music schools where children can learn music from a young age.
