Poor service and no atmosphere. Would never have guessed it was Christmas Day. Very very expensive for the quality.Would have expected a lot more for the price. Staff not friendly and food not great. Won't be back and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

A friend and I were in New York for a girls weekend.. this past weekend.. after looking different places to eat we happen to stumble upon a Groupon for this restaurant... read the views and agreed let’s try it... boy were we wrong... First of all we had reservations.. after having a subway delay we called the restaurant to let them know we were running late.. when we arrived no one greeted us for about 10 mins.. finally we were seated..finally our order was taken.. food took forever to come out.. after looking forward to a great meal we were very disappointed.. my friend order a steak to be cooked to medium.. came out medium rare.. waitress took it back.. but it came back just how it went back.. after the second time she order what I was having the pan roasted chicken..thinking it would come rather soon.. Wrong again... we waited and waited and still no food.. we finally had a enough and told the waitress not to bother bringing it out.. needless to say my friend went without dinner last night... we never saw manager the entire time.. after we demanded a check for what I got.. we were told your good to go.. no bill.. not that I would pay anyway... definitely not the way we wanted to end our stay in New York..

!!!BEWARE!!! We came here on Jan 29 2019 for my wife’s Birthday and had the worst possible experience imaginable. We anticipated having the Kobe beef as it’s advertised to be one of 8 authorized restaurants in the US to serve it. After being seated and given menu’s, we were told that they DID NOT HAVE any KOBE BEEF (which is one of the main items on their menu)!!! Other than 2oz. portions of a single cut. We were beyond disappointed as we came specifically to have it. The host at no time prior to our arrival told us that this was the case. They told us we could come back the next day maybe or the day after if we liked - still unsure of exactly when they would have it available. They also suggested that we should have asked if they had some before arriving. In 22 years of living in New York and eating out for many of those years I have never seen the total lack of customer service and suspect excuses this place gave us. If I could give less than one star I would. This place should be avoided at all costs!!!

Dined here for business function. Sat in the back.. appetizers to get: the octopus! Had a family size porterhouse steak. It was good! Mary our server was excellent!!! Their dessert is also amazing. Great meal overall.

Highlights- Enjoyed dinner with my 2 adult sons. Nice atmosphere. Nice touch Tic Tacks in bathroom. We had salmon avacado ceviche as an appetizer My sons had the Wagu Platter for 2 that included skirt steak, filet mignon, and Kobe beef. I ordered the short ribs. For a side we had mashed potatoes. We also split 2 desserts and a bottle of red wine. The service was very good. Steak was just slightly over cooked as my son’s like it medium rare. This was cooked more to the medium. Honestly believe they would have replaced but we never said anything because we were enjoying the company of our family. And the waiter never asked. The table next to us had the Tomahawk steak and it looked out of this world. The bill was approximately $300.00. I am so used to being spoiled by the other restaurants we visit.

We had a wonderful post-matinee dinner here last evening. My partner and I shared a kale salad and melt-in-your mouth short ribs. I took the bartender's recommendation and tried an appetizer of grilled octopus: very tender and delicious. The bartender -- Dan -- was great. We will definitely go again.

Skip the famous mid-town steakhouses that cater to tourists, and the national chains. This intimate neighborhood restaurant serves prime beef (Kobe and Waygu available), delicious alternatives (The Lamb Chops are outstanding) in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I had the braised short ribs which literally melted in my mouth, and my wife had the lamb chops. The sides are well portioned and also delicious, especially the truffled mashed potatoes. Prices are comparable to the more well-known steakhouses, but I felt like we were miles away from the crowds. We will return when we next visit Manhattan.

Love this place. Having eaten here a few times over this past year, 212 Steakhouse had struck me as a solid steakhouse - a great option for special occasions when I'm in the mood for steaks. Kobe beef is so perfectly marbled and just melts in my mouth..Australian Wagyu always perfectly cooked and delicious! Service is always impeccable: attentive, friendly, fun and knowledgeable. I can't think of any steakhouse in NYC with the same price range better than here.

I had the luxury of enjoying the finest and most delicious beef available to the general public. "CERTIFIED KOBE BEEF FROM JAPAN" 212 Steakhouse is an elegant friendly, comfortable and classy restaurant. The waiter educated me on KOBE beef and guided me on degree of doneness I would enjoy best. I ordered the KOBE Tasting meal and it was a luxurious experience. Chewing the meat has no resistance, flavors are clean, perfecly balanced as well as aromatic. The price is on target for the experience. I recommend sharing this experience with someone soecial as it is unforgettable.

We went primarily for the Kobe/Wagyu, and it was a real disappointment. The service was poor, trending toward terrible, requiring constant flagging for basics like silverware, taking our order, and getting the check. This would be excusable if the food was great, but the steak was mediocre at best. If you're a local and you've been to all the other steakhouses and don't want to go again, then by all means go by. Otherwise head to Keen's.

The grilled octopus appetizer is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. The steak sampler entre was very interesting , however, the Japanese wagu was so tender that it lost its beefy mouth texture. It tasted like great beef but chewed like fat. I wouldn't order it again. The Australian and American versions were superb.

Even though we went with a groupon voucher, the steaks were over priced. The waiter took ages to serve us and we waited ages for our foods.

If you know anything about steak, this is the place to go! Only restaurant in east coast to serve legitimate Kobe beef! My friends and I went after our broadway show, unfortunately it was raining bad and they missed their car. I told the hostess that they were running late and our reservation was for 2100. They graciously accommodated us and gave us an amazing experience. Now the steak, it’s amazing! Best steak experience I’ve ever had in my travels. I tried their steak experience for two. The Kobe was out of this world delicious!!!! The Australian Wagyu was incredible aswell! I joked with my girlfriend that I didn’t know why the USDA prime fillet was in my plate lol, that’s how good the Kobe is!!! Anyways this is a great restaurant, forget the other steakhouse in Manhattan, yes they serve steak, but this particular restaurant has something that no one else in NYC can claim to have!!!!

I really wanted to like this place. Their menu, their service, their bartender... everything looked so good... until the food came. If you have not had kobe beef before, this is the only place on the East Coast that is currently authorized to serve it. It is an experience for $22 per oz of meat (minimum 3 oz) and that is all that you will get, just the kobe experience. If you get a chance to travel to Japan, the kobe there is better and this one does not do it justice. The steaks are also... disappointing... Everything was not seasoned very well and the steak quality for steak restaurant was absolutely horrible... not even the desserts were on point... truly disappointing.

Amazing steakhouse! We got the tasting, which included a little Kobe, wagyu, and ribeye! It was very delicious!!!! You could tell the difference between each of them and each one was delicious! My husband and I didn't leave one piece! Dan was our server, he done a great job, even recommended a couple of places to visit that aren't real touristy attractions!

Really enjoyed our meal here. We started with the ceaser salad and burrata to share between 4 of us - great portions and tasted very fresh. We then had 2 fillet steaks, the burger and ristotto with creamed spinach, lobster mac and cheese and potato gratin and everything tasted delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection,

Visited for dinner yo try authentic kobe beef on a trip to NYC with my partner. Let me start by saying that the kobe beef, the Australian wagyu were amazing. But that's where it ends. To start with, tables were crammed together, we couldn't hear eachother over the conversations of the other tables next to us. A waiter, I don't want to call him by name so we'll call him 'A' then arrived with no less than four huge and heavy menus-2 × food, 1 x drinks list, 1 x wine list which we couldn't fit on the table so there was a lot of shuffling. We ordered lobster bisque and zucchini chips to start. Zucchini chips were lovely but lobster bisque was odd. Very thick and dark orange in colour, not like any we'd had before, bit disappointing for $14. We didn't complain though as we didn't want to ruin our meal. We then ordered two glasses of Malbec to have with our food. We ordered the premium sharing platter of kobe beef, Australian wagyu and the USDA medium rare at $55 a head plus an extra 3oz kobe tenderloin to share at $75. We also ordered the truffled potatoes, which we ended up having to ask for as they didn't come out with our food. Similar thing happened to the guy on the next table. As I said, the kobe was incredible and the wagyu was great. The USDA was overdone however and very tough so we didn't eat it and the truffled potatoes were unseasoned aside from the truffle oil, very thin and so creamy they were splitting. Really not nice at all so we left those too. We didn't want to make a fuss but we were paying a lot of money for the meal so we complained to 'A' when he came to take the plates away. Now, this waiter was unlike any I've ever met. He made us so uncomfortable that it ruined the meal. Not to be rude but to start with, his personal hygiene was quite poor. He was also very intense. He interrupted our starters twice. As my partner and I were chewing our first bite of steak, he interrupted us to insist we take a sip of our wine straight after swallowing 'for the flavour '. We just wanted to be left to enjoy our food. A few moments later, I turned my head slightly to the right for a moment to look at some food that was leaving the kitchen and literally within three seconds he appeared mid meal to ask what I wanted from him. I hadn't even noticed he was in the room. I felt observed and uncomfortable and we were both irritated at our meal being interrupted again without invitation. His response when we complained about the USDA and the potatoes was shocking. He initially argued and told us we were wrong and it wasn't overcooked. We literally had to pick it up and show him the crumbling charred edges and the overcooked centre before he'd accept it. He wasn't having it that the potatoes weren't up to scratch either but after a few awkward minutes of standing and shaking his head whilst grinning oddly at us he took them away. We asked for the bill. 'A' then returned a few minutes later with a small carafe of wine which he dumped in my partner's glass despite my partner insisting we didn't want any more wine. 'A' ignored him and just said 'this is fine now, my compliments ' and he left before we could get another word out. We left the wine as we hadn't asked for it and weren't happy to accept a $14 glass of wine in place of $40 worth of food we hadn't eaten. We decided to wait until he came back to stand our ground. I went to the restroom and when I came back I was stunned to find 'A' at the table, arguing with my partner. I interrupted to ask my partner what was going on but 'A' interrupted to answer me instead! My partner had tried to point out that for the the near $300 we were being charged that some of the food wasn't acceptable and the service we were receiving was overly intense yet very poor which lead to 'A' becoming quite irate and telling us we didn't understand how customer service works in America and that he was brilliant at his job. We neglected to mention that we had also heard the table behind complain about him. My partner was really biting his tongue but when you're being talked over and essentially called ignorant it wasn't easy. My partner calmly mentioned that we own and run a dining pub so we are aware of what constitutes good customer service and this wasn't it. This was met with raised eyebrows and more maniacal, patronising grinning and some sniggering. I tried to calm things down and eventually 'A' dissappeared. He initially returned and refused to take anything off the bill but after further awkward arguing he took our drinks off the bill, just about equalling the value of the food we sent back, but not before he returned to our table AGAIN to insult us by suggesting we were used to cheaper places in the UK - 'I love restaurants in England , they're such good value for money aren't they?'- was the thinly veiled comment I believe - and heavily insinuating that we were just being cheap. We ended up paying $230 for the experience. We refused to tip. I've never seen anything like it. I didn't see any other staff behaving this way so I'm not going to tar them all with the same brush but he was truly awful. Ruined an expensive meal and our evening.

Best Steak house in the town. The service was amazing. Very friendly environment. Staff was very cooperative

Very allergy conscious and able to alter recipe to accomodate. Salmon was seared to perfection. Crispy skin and delicate and tender. Lovely upscale wine menu. Excellent service.

We went for the bone-in filet. It was advertised as aged beef. We know steak and this just wasn't good. Waitress got very few things right. Had to wait for drinks, sides, and entrées brought at different times. Never offered drink refills, had to wait for the bill while the server was on her phone and talking to other staff. Took friends and felt embarrassed.

wanted somewhere nice on a Saturday night during our visit and found this place on the internet, great food and service and good value for money!!

my friend and I ordered the porter house for two ($60 per person). 30 of the steak was fat. its no wonder the place is empty and the old homestead in the village is packed.

I had dinner with my family few days ago. The place is small and has a typical steakhouse decor. Friendly service all around. We tried various meat including the Kobe tasting. The quality of meat was great but overall I prefer a bit more seasoning. Kobe steaks are usually more marblized than the regular steaks. This means you need a smaller sized Kobe steak to fulfill your hunger. Overall, a good experience!

My husband and I chose this as a spur of the moment. the wait staff was excellent. the steak was good and the apple martini was perfect. The calamari was tender and not breaded and fried to death. Would return with no problems.

I chose this restaurant because it is the only one in New York which serves genuine Kobe beef from Japan. I chose a 4 ounce striploin steak and a side order of blue cheese salad. The restaurant is not in the main tourist area but in a quieter part of Manhattan. It was a little difficult to find. Although it is the only restaurant serving genuine Kobe beef it was not full on the night I was there. The service was excellent and the wait staff were very knowledgeable. I was eating alone, however I was made to feel very welcome. The restaurant decor is quite dark and it is a relatively small restaurant, but very welcoming. I did not have a starter or dessert and the bill for the main course and a glass of wine was about $150 as the Kobe beef was $25 per ounce. There are more affordable options but I had chosen this specifically for the Kobe. The striploin steak was delicious. I had ordered bearnaise sauce but should not have bothered as it did not add anything to the steak, rather it took away from the flavour of the meat. I have never eaten such good beef and would definitely eat here again if I get the chance. I can highly recommend this restaurant for the food and the ambience,

We booked a reservation on Open Table. We took a cab cross-town, and showed up 5 minutes before our reservation. When we walked in, the waitress told us the kitchen was closed. We said we had a reservation. She looked, it was there, and she just told us again that the kitchen was closed. No apology, no attempt to rectify the situation. Then they cancelled the reservation. The best part—we walked 4 blocks and got a table at the always dependable, and far superior, Smith and Wollenskys. When I looked up the restaurant to leave this review 30 minutes after being turned away, the website said they were open for another 7 minutes! In the age of social media, the client experience is everything.

We wanted to have a good steak in NYC so asked the hotel receptionist (Truss Time Square) for some hints and she came up with this one. It's a bit outside the real center but from the hotel walking distance and especially after the meal that is quite good, you need some time to walk off all that food. We did not make resevervations and when we arrived (approx 19:15) there were no tables available any more so sat at the bar, Unfortunately, they did not have any 'zero alcohol' beer for my colleague (so that could improve) and I took a Leffe. Not sure it came with the right glass but no matter. Steaks are not cheap (to say the least) and I ended choosing a Dry Aged T-bone steak (rare) with spinach on the side, My colleague ordered a different one and had some normal fries and Brussels sprouts. The meat was nicely cooked and served promptly. Could have been a bit more crispy on the outside perhaps but otherwise good quality meat. No more place for a desert so just took an espresso. Service was friendly even if I had some issues understanding the bartender/waiter. All in all a decent meal but if you go here with a large group, could be costly, I believe that with this choice and few drinks, we spent more than USD 100.00 pp but perhaps that's normal in NYC. Good choice if you're in the area in any case and as for the walk, quite okay.

This was my first trip ever in NYC and my family and I decided to go for dinner to 212 steakhouse. Firstly, my first impressions of the restaurant was a great ambience and we were well attended too by the waiter (forgot his name) but he was so so helpful. Our orders for drinks were quickly taken and then served. I have to say that the steak menu is very extensive with an excellent range of multiple different cuts of beef ranging from T Bone, Kobe, Filet Mignon to Ribeye etc. I went for the Filet Mignon, and though it did take a bit of time for the food to come, when I cut the steak right down the middle, the steak sliced like a piece of butter (which indicates its perfectly cooked), and it was cooked to perfection of my liking of medium rare. My first bite was unimaginable and the steak literally melted in my mouth. I finished the steak itself within 10 minutes because it indeed was that delicious. We also ordered the mashed potatoes which were very good as well. I also added on the peppercorn sauce for my steak on the side and it just boosted the entire flavour of the steak. Thank you 212 for such an amazing dinner and night. Hands down, best steaks I have ever had in my life and nothing can ever beat the level of perfection of what I had in 212!!!

Honestly, I don't know what people are complaining about with respect to the service, prices, or food quality. This is one of the best meals we've had in a restaurant for quite a while, and where else can you get real Kobe Beef? Our starters (the burrata and the Mediterranean salad) were beautifully prepared and presented, and the produce quality was outstanding. We shared the steak sampler, which was cooked perfectly to our medium rare order, and was absolutely heavenly. The steaks were well marbled (note to other reviewers: This is because they are supposed to be, that's kind of the thing with kobe and wagyu beef), melted in our mouths. Just delicious. They have a great selection of wines by the glass, which is great when you don't really want or need the whole bottle. We shared a perfectly crusted creme brulee for dessert, paid our bill and left happy. All for a little more than $100 per person. A note for women who travel alone on business--this looks like a great place to get a meal on your own without being harassed or ignored by staff. A well dressed woman was seated at the bar having her meal and enjoying a book, looking comfortable and contented. As for some of the more negative reviews, it is good to remember that this is Manhattan--visitors can experience some sticker shock, and in their home towns meals at this price point may be accompanied by choirs of angels, or something. We sat next to a couple using a Groupon, and I didn't detect any difference in the level of service or food quality at their table. There was a pretty obnoxious, loud table in the dining room when we arrived, but that is the case for every steak restaurant in NYC, and is hardly the fault of the restaurant. By 8pm, every table was full, but the dining room was never noisy. We did make a mental note to plan our next meal there for slightly earlier time, and we will definitely be back.

A great Thanksgiving Day 212 Steakhouse Add a prefix menu for Thanksgiving but it was wonderful service was excellent some great cocktails some nice wine and great company

Bought this Groupon for $60 , 3 months ago, finally I went this week. What a pleasant surprise. The service was on point. Food was exceptional, wine was fairly inexpensive for a steakhouse. Had the shrimp cocktail, salmon ceviche; followed by dry aged Tbone and Chilean sea bass, with a side of creamy spinach. All delicious. The wine was a bottle of Blackstone Merlot, excellent. The dessert was Tiramisu, also amazing. Overall excellent value.

The food here is top notch! We sat and the bar, had only salads and appetizers, and were very happy. Both the mediterranean and the arugula salads are flavorful and artfully presented. For our "mains" we has the crab cake and tuna appetizers, both of which were perfect prepared and wonderfully presented. The bartender, Mariken, was extremely helpful and steered us in the right directions. The cocktails (The Napa) were perfectly presented and her recommendations on the wines were spot on. If you are here and she is working, definitely as for her advice!.

On our last night in the City, we decided to go for steak, the steakhouse opposite our hotel had closed down, so we walked several blokes and came across this restaurant, the menu looked good, and the restaurant itself was smart enough. When we entered, there was only 1 other table occupied, we didn't really think too much of it, as it was 8pm on a Sunday. We had the dry age Ribeye for 2, potato gratin and mushrooms with 2 glasses of wine (1 each) and a bottle of water, the total cost was just under $200. The food was ok, nothing special. We can now see why the restaurant was empty, when you charged these prices for adequate food, clients tend to stay away. Our server was cordial, but seemed in a rush to get us in and out, which is odd given there wasn't anyone waiting to come in. Wouldn't return.

Ordered the grilled octopus, zucchini chips, and mussels. The grilled octopus was okay but a little fishy. The chips were very good and the mussels were also quite good. Our entrees consisted of porter house steak, risotto, and salmon as well as sides of mushrooms, spicy sweet potatoes and Brussel sprouts. The steak was mediocre. The salmon was mushy. I sent it back. Overall, the food was bland.

The food and service are great. Went on a Monday night so it was not extremely crowded. Waiter was very nice and good service. As an appetizer the Burrata was good. Wish they gave a little bigger of a portion. The Lamb Chops were the best thing hands down. Although you may go there for the steak it would be hard to not get the lamb chops. They were spectacular. The steak - 212 experience was great. You were able to try all the different types of steak. The Kobe steak was delicious.

My four sisters and I had dinner at 212 Steakhouse during a short retreat to NYC. The quiet atmosphere was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff were friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. The food was beyond excellent! It’s not a heap restaurant, but the prices were honestly lower than I would expect for the quality we received. Very impressed, and I plan on going back with my husband next time we are in town.

We had dinner in a restaurant near our home tonight - 212 Steakhouse. The service was great, but the waitstaff said they were hesitant to bring our complaints to the kitchen. We sent the lobster bisque back to the kitchen - poor flavor and no lobster. The salads strawberry spinach salad came out with 4 raspberries and very little dressing and the a roasted pear salad had a sprinkle of balsamic vinegar for dressing, but not enough. Mussels were way over cooked and lacked in flavor. The chocolate soufflé was a chocolate lava cake that wasn't hot. After the quality of the appetizers we decided to stop there and not have dinner. IT was not worth the $100+ bill

I had the caesar salad to start, which was great. For my meal, I had lamb chops and exchanged the sides for truffle mashed potatoes. HEAVENLY combination. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I went back the next week because it was so good. They also offered a great coupon which allowed it to be reasonable. They are so nice and the food is great. My friend got the NY strip and T-bone, which he also enjoyed each time.

Too expensive and nothing special. I will never go again and would not previously on anyone. . .....

The food was outstanding. Especially the Kobe beef and the truffled mashed potatoes. Actually, all of our steak choices were tremendous. Our server, on the other hand, was inattentive to us, uninterested, in general, and uninformed, regarding the food. We were dining at 212 for our son's 25th birthday, and I mentioned this when I made the reservation. I also informed the server when she came to take our orders. At the end of the meal my son ordered French press coffee. When he tried it, he got a mouth full of coffee grounds. According to the server, the French press was broken. If that was the case, why would you use it? Meanwhile, the table behind us was obviously celebrating a birthday as well, and they received dessert with a candle and a chorus of Happy Birthday. A bit awkward to say the least, especially since both tables finished up at almost the same time. Again, the meal was excellent, but the service was below par.

the fish that my friend had ordered felt like it was defrost a several times froze back again for a long time and then cooked in same oil as my short rib (which didn't look like a prime bone-in short rib but oily stew) however the fish didn't taste like a proper chilean sea bass dish at all.. plus it was really salty probably the kitchen tried to compensate rotten taste... it's just wasn't acceptable with the price of $46 for it. we left hungry and disappointed.

The steaks are awesome and so are the sides. We didn't have one bad thing on the menu. Serice was good too.

Could not have found a more fabulous place to celebrate my son’s birthday! Steakhouse is an understatement for the decadence that we were served. The mussels were fresh and delicious. The Kobe beef was so tender and flavorful, like nothing I had ever eaten before. The entree did not disappoint! The T-bone steak with the truffle mashed potato was enough to share. I was impressed by the professionalism of the very friendly staff. Can’t wait for the next special occasion!

Kobe beef certified . Our waiter Alexander was fabulous. Very knowledgeable about steaks . He explained about Kobe beef from Japan and how 212 steakhouse is one of few actually Cert to sell it . We enjoyed our dinner tremendously. We jad the three Kobe beef, filet mignon , wayusuga. for 60 each. Cream spinach and truffle mashed potatoes. My wife and I loved his honesty that some foods can be shared and he didn’t push us to over order food. Chocolate soufflés for desert. We left completely satisfied. Definitely will return.

Visit this place we got sick from the spinach. Told the manager iman the next day, this guy was a total so and so. He was empathic he said no one else complain l, he put my situation with the general clientele and pulled every excuse and threw it at me. Told him to have the manager call me, I'm still waiting for that call. Also the windows were open the dog pee smell and flies was coming right in. Very unpleasant experience.

We have been here several times during our visits to New York over the last few years. The special thing that made the 212 stand out at the beginning is no longer there and therefore the price is no longer justified. The Kobe is good, but you can get that in different places these days, the rest is average. But over 800 USD in 60 minutes is expensive fast food (of the high class).

We went as 3 couples. The steak was easily the best all of us has ever had. The sides are generous enough to share. The wine was great, but the steak. Ahhhh perfection.

This place has a great atmosphere, high-quality food and efficient service. I have only one complaint—the kobe beef is frozen. But when it’s shipped from Japan what do you expect? Highly recommend potato gratin and soufflé.

This restaurant seems to be doing lots of promotions, so look for one. We went with a groupon. With $60 off of $120 for 4 people, it was a good meal at a good value. They keep their steak prices reasonable, but try to make up the difference on the sides. Things like $12 for a small bowl of potatoes (serving one or two). So you either get the sides and give back some of the discount or you eat an unbalanced meal. We ordered the 16 oz prime filet on the bone and it wasn't fantastic, but for what we paid it was good. The décor is pleasant and the service at least average. BTW, if you're driving, know that the street the restaurant is on has free parking after 7 pm (when it changes from a loading zone to free parking). Show up at about 6:45 (you won't be the only person who wants a space!) and you can snag convenient free parking. Bottomline, this isn't a "destination" steakhouse but, if you get a discount, it's probably about the best deal on steak you're going to get in NYC.

I went with my godson to 212 for dinner, and we were not disappointed at all. Pricy for sure, but it was worth it. The service was very friendly and warm, yet not over the top trying to impress you. The steak we shared was very well seasoned and prepared; the portion was quite large! Nice bread to start with. The wine menu was impressive, as was the menu for the meal. Very good place to have a romantic and yet not stuffy dinner on the East Side of NY. Highly recommended. Heaven for carnivores!

We went with another couple into the city to see a play and since my wife and I had been here before, and were very happy, we came back using a 4 person Living Social deal. They did not disappoint. We were a little early so we went to the bar. The bartender was friendly and suggested a bottle for dinner. He was right, the wine was perfect for our meal. The restaurant was crowded but the service did not suffer. Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. Both couples had steak for 2 with 4 sides, mushrooms, fingerling potatoes, brussel sprouts and potatoes au-gratin. The steaks were cooked perfectly and all the sides were excellent. One of our friends said the steak was one of the best he has ever had. I recommend them highly, and we will be back.

Filet mignon was amazing and the truffle mashed potatoes as well. Finished with creme brûlée and cheesecake which were both great. Amazing service and food came out very quick. Not too busy and very calm and quiet atmosphere. Highly recommend!!

We went because I had a groupon and ohh my!! What a delicious treat. Its a little hidden but the menu and food is outstanding. It competes with other top steakhouses in the area and is even better than some. The porterhouse was outstanding!!

212 Steakhouse never disappoints. Their chicken meal is fantastic, the staff are amongst some of the friendliest you'll ever come across and they are so attentive. I've been here twice and both times it has been a treat. The steak is also very tinder and their potatoes, mashed or otherwise, is also really good. I recommended the last table by the left hand side in the front by the window. It's so peaceful and gives you a pretty good view of the happenings outside.

Staff was slow and inattentive. Food had ZERO taste ...well not zero...tasted the char from the grill. Sides were also flavorless. I have never been so disappointed in a NY steakhouse.

tried the kobe beef as part of $60 menu. kobe beef is tiny but of course the best tasting. filet minon is also good while skirt steak is just ok

I don't know what to make of this restaurant. My husband and I were very excited to try a full steak of Japanese Kobe beef, and this is one of only 9 restaurants in the United States to serve it. For the price of 25 dollars per ounce, with a minimum of 3 ounces per person, this is not a cheap night out. As such, one would expect a certain level of service. Alas! We hoped in vain. The servers seemed happy to forget about us for long periods of time, and considering we were not there on a busy night, I can find no excuse for this. Some of the crockery and cutlery and napkins were soiled, and we asked for them to be changed, which they were. We started our evening with shared green lipped mussels, which were tasty and without fault, before each ordering a ten ounce kobe steak and sharing a rocket salad with avocado. The steaks were delicious, as one would expect of such a high quality ingredient. The avocado on the salad was so underripe that my steak knife would not cut it. The steaks come with exactly nothing. No vegetables, no potatoes. The air conditioning was so cold that I could have churned ice cream in that room. What you need to know: If you want to splash out on Kobe beef and can suffer dirty dishes, negligent staff and freezing conditions, for a hefty price, by all means. For me, it was worth it just once. But this is a restaurant that spends money on one good ingredient, to the complete detriment of everything else.

This restaurant very nice atmosphere. The food was very good .the price was very pricey.the waiter we had made sure that we were comfortable I just don't remember his name.

Did not try the Kobe cuts because Kobe is not as good as Japanese Miyazaki Wagyu and for $22/ounce you are paying $125+ for a decent sized steak. Very expensive steakhouse with very little atmosphere. Take me back to Del Friscos!

They called to confirm my 7:30 p.m. appointment at 4:21 p.m. - Great start, unfortunately for them, they did not inform me then that they were completely out of the Kobe Beef Steak they are famous for. As our party sat to review the menu, we stared at the menu as the waiter informed us that this, this, that, that, this was sold out due to a Customs issue. Well over half their steak menu was unavailable. After waiting for the punch line and it never being delivered, we reluctantly ordered. The steaks we did have the chance to order were perfect. Cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned. They lack a variety of sides to compliment their steaks. I will return to hopefully try their Kobe Beef; I just wish they had had it last night as we were celebrating a friend's birthday.

Very pricy kobewagyu steak. Not worth the money. Maybe too greasy meat

Our wait staff was so helpful in getting us to decide our sides and entree. We knew we were going to get the kobe tasting platter and our waiter knew exactly the right amount for us to eat to be able to enjoy the steak and not feel overfull. I am a glutton and will eat until my plate is clean so his advice was keenly taken. The kobe beef was so buttery and cooked exactly as I like it. And the entree of octopus really set us up with a slightly tangy freshness to be able to prepare for the indulgent meat plate. The wine pairing was OK and maybe I would've chosen something else. But that was all. Lovely staff and lovely meal.

There are two places in the US that are authorized to import genuine Japanese Kobe beef. One is the Steve Wynn steakhouse in Las Vegas, the other is the 212 steakhouse in New York City. Having never tried Kobe beef, or Wagu beef, I ordered the 212 prime selection. $110 ($55 pp) enabled you to try & compare Kobe beef against Wagu beef vs USDA Prime fillet mignon. I really loved being able to compare and contrast the taste, texture, and mouth feel from one to another. I now have a better understanding of why Kobe beef is $25 per ounce. I will definitely be going back to try their Kobe sampler ($205 - 3 oz of each cut). The service in my opinion was above and beyond. We made a reservation for 6:45 PM on Saturday evening, and while it was quiet when we arrived, there were only a few open tables available when we left.

212 Steakhouse doesn't feel like steakhouse because of its decor. Service is really spotty, there was one waitress serving 8 tables. Wine selection is not impressive by any stretch of imagination. Clientele is not what you would expect in a steakhouse like Wolfgang's, Sparks, or Benjamin's. The reason for all of the above is the fact that they give out 50% coupons for the steaks. Do yourself a favor and go to a real steakhouse if you are in a mood for meat.

Great steak and pasta dishes, on the high end for pricing but generous portions and outstanding presentation.

Food and atmosphere was awesome. Love the short ribs and lamb, will definitely come back for more!!!

we booked the restaurant for a small wedding reception. They provided a private space which was decorated tastefully. The food package was good on paper but even better on the day. We had an endless supply of hors d'ouvre which were ecellent. There was a choice of main meals and all of them were of an exceptional standard. The chef even prepared an egg free meal for an infant as well as gluten free food for the bride. All of the staff were superb on the night, friendly, attentive to every need. The whole experience was first rate. New York has a brilliant eatery in the 212 steakhouse.

We celebrated my7/4 birthday here. Service was immpecable and the steaks nearly melt in your mouth. Delicious does not even describe how good they were. The salmon was very good as well. If you read the menu and notice the Steaks are PRICED PER OUNCE you will not be surprised when the bill comes. Sure it was expensive but I'm worth it! Happy birthday to me.

Why 5 stars if there are a lot of bad opinions. I went to this place beacause great opinion. But meat was cooked with butter or oil, and pepper. Too bad mixture!!! Expensive and disappointing

This is our second visit to this restaurant and we were not disappointed at all. The service was great, the steak was delicious, and over all a great dinner out. I think both of my kids are enjoying steak for dinner ever since our last visit and we all went home satisfied. Definitely one of the hidden gem in NYC.

The atmosphere in this East Side Steakhouse was friendly and inviting. Unfortunately, the much heralded Wagyu Beef, although inordinately pricey, was substandard. A beautiful job of carving for two at the table, but the beef was beyond fatty, actually undercooked, and wholly disappointing. The $12 sides were oozing with excess (cream, cheese (not included in the description), etc.) and one felt that, in addition to overpaying, ingesting it was to feel your arteries closing up. I like a good steak as much as the next meat-eater. This is not a good choice to savor one, I have concluded.

We were going to another steakhouse, which was closed for a private party. Did a quick look-up on groupon, and found 212 Steakhouse. They are apparently the only restaurant that can offer Japanese Kobe beef on the east coast! That was a bit too expensive for our everyday groupon budget, but we WILL go back for a special occasion. We ordered the short ribs over mashed potatoes, and salmon over spinach. Both were fantastic. I even recommended the short ribs to the next table over, and they loved them too. The waiter was attentive but not obtrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings and the music was soft and beautiful. I'd recommend it to anyone! Enjoy!

My daughter and I arrived over half an hour late for our meal. And expected to be turned away instead we were made really welcome. We were shown a table and handed menus. I had already made up my mind on what I wondered but it was for 2 and my daughter hates bloody meat and wanted the steak well done. On hearing this the waiter turned a very pale color and carefully explained the error of her way. Thank you so much. We both had the fillet, wagyu and Kobe beef sampler. It was delicious and I would recommend to anyone. I have always wanted to try Wagyu and kobe it was a dream come true. Would return to 212 when next in New York. All the staff and really friendly and helpful. The restaurant is a New York must

Very good service and ambiance. The assortment of Kobe and Wagyu beef was delicious and a true delicacy. This little steak house is a gem! Lobster bisque was way above average. French onion soup was very good but a little on the salty side.

We came to try the famous Kobe beef and we loved it! A MUST TRY in NYC! The Kobe beef , the octopus appetizer and the tiramisu dessert were the highlights of the night. The cocktails were also really good. The staff was super friendly and professional. It was a great experience and I will be back for sure!

The space itself is warm, cozy, and romantic. The food is rich, well-presented and delicious. Biggest hold back is the cost. Unless you go in willing to throw caution to the wind, prices can be a big staggering and the waitstaff encourages you to try it all. It was delicious, just a bit more than I'd like to spend- even on really good Kobe steak.

1. Place wasn't busy on a Saturday night...and they seated us in a high traffic aisle seat....the hardwood floor kept flexing everytime anybody would walk by...had to hold my beer to keep it from falling off the table. 2. Ordered a Stella Artois...which they were all out of. How do you not have stella on a Saturday night. As an alternative, they recomended a brooklyn lager...not even close. 3. I have the kobe steak and my wife had a fillet mignon...both were way over salted. 4. Very pricey for what you get. Sounded like they were trying to buy ratings/reviews by offering a free bottle of wine and discount on your next visit if we provided a review...no thanks will never go back. 5. No dress code...not that i expected everyone to be dressed up...but when you see someone sitting at the bar wearing track pants (addidas)...it makes you wonder.

Treated us very well. We had the chicken, lamb chops, black linguine, salmon and chicken. We enjoyed it all.

My husband took me here for a birthday dinner. The restaurant was recommended to him by a work college. The appearance is just average in fact when we walked in I was a bit disappointed and assumed the meal would be average. But We both LOVED our meals. The service was outstanding and the food was even better. Kobe beef was out of this world and the steak tartare appetizer is a unique and delightful experience. We will definitely be back.

We learned about this restaurant through Travel Zoo and purchased a voucher. What a great experience. At first the hostess sat us at the wrong table with a spotlight that was annoying, but when we asked the waiter to change our table, he did so graciously. The voucher was immediately accepted with no restrictions and a credit of $80 was taken off our bill. I made a mistake when I ordered a cocktail and the waiter took it back with no quarrels and replaced it. The ambiance is great and the service couldn't be better. Ask for Danny and you will be well served. In all a great dining experience which we highly recommend. We will certainly go back a second time to try kobe meat and other pasta plates.

Heaven in your mouth! This is an upscale modern restaurant with Kobe, Wagyu & prime beef, seafood, cocktails & a long wine list. It was our second visit to this delicious restaurant. My husband and I planned a romantic weekend away. We knew we would come back after our first visit last year. This visit we enjoyed the grilled calamari and the mussels in white sauce. As entrees we ordered the filet mignon 8 oz and the wild salmon filet in lemon dill sauce. Now this is going to be a restaurant we will regularly visit when in NYC for pleasure or business. I highly recommend this restaurant. It was so memorable for the great food, service and atmosphere. Delicious experience!!!!

The food quality was poor but the staff were friendly. The mussels were from a can and soup was watery

We were seated promptly and our server was very attentive. We were on a tight schedule and the food came quickly and the presentation was perfect. The Wagyu Australian Skirt Steak was outstanding as were the Short Ribs and creamy spinach. The Living Social $60 credit was applied to our bill no questions asked. Overall a GREAT experience and we will definitely return.

Went Aug 12,2024 at 7pm. They greeting you as you walk in. They seat you. Very clean. The food was good. The Drinks strong.

Service was phenomenal and so was the food. The steak was cooked just right and was very tasty. The cocktails were excellent. If you're in the neighborhood stop by and have a juicy piece of beef.

The restaurant staff was very friendly and attentive. The food choices were more varied than most steakhouses which was a welcome surprise for those in the group who did not eat steak. They also offered Kobe steak in addition to traditional cuts. The food was very good but and is worth a visit but I would not put it in the same league as the best steakhouses in NYC

At first, when me and my partner arrived at the restaurant, at around 9pm, we were unsure if we were going to have the dinner there, because there were only 4 people. But I’ve convinced him to stay there, because the pictures on Instagram showed only amazing dishes. Not only the food was absolutely amazing (I’m a massive meat lover and I can say that it’s the best steak I’ve eaten in my life), but the waiter was so lovely, chatty and friendly that it made the atmosphere better than it already was before. So, if you want a quiet dinner, with good music, lovely waitresses and delicious food, this restaurant definitely deserves every dollar.

Had dinner with friends and what a great experience. Our friends were running late, we didn’t have to wait outside but instead they gave us the table. From the moment we got there till we left, the service was outstanding. We ordered a couple of appetizers and every single one was good. We got the octopus, ceviche, shrimp cocktail and Mediterranean salad. I love lamb chops and glad I ordered them. Well made and the polenta that comes with was creamy and flavorful. Everyone else ordered from the Australian meats selection and the meat were incredible juicy and great taste. I highly recommend the cheesecake. I usually don’t like them but I would order it again in this restaurant.

Hello 212, it's 917 calling. Do you read me over! Yes, Alex (the Great) picked up my call and he reserved a nice table for us. I heard about this place but didn't know would be coming here so soon. It's a steakhouse with Kobe certification, so please don't flip out if you see some Japanese writing on the wall. That's the certification! We were seated in the front dining area next to the bar. The restaurant has the front, middle, bar and back sections. The bar is long and bar stools are comfortable where you can lean on and relax. We ordered arugula with pear and goat cheese salad and zucchini chip to start. We did good because both were super delicious! Then our entrees were majestically prepared. I had a filet mignon and Hubby had baby lamb chops. Thumbs up for my plate, again for Hubby's plate. All together from thumbs to toes, all up, we liked! My filet mignon is to die for! So juicy and tender. The lamb chop's plate could be better because it was hard to cut the lamb in a semi bowl plate. Yes I'm talking about the plate not the dish. A regular dinner plate that is somewhat flat would be easier to hold and cut the lamb. We finished everything on our plates. The lamb chops was served with Brussels sprouts and Polenta. Hubby let me have half of each, so I could enjoy with my filet mignon. Perfect because it's the right amount with my entree. Definitely would return to try more dishes. Beautiful restaurant and great service. Alex was a great server. Alex the great! Dinner was excellent! The restaurant is still young but they know what they're doing. Great job 212!

I booked this as a treat for my wife and I whilst visiting New York and we're really looking forward to it however it was not what we expected. First of all we ordered a bottle of Prosecco and received another cheaper looking bottle. Starters - French Onion soup was lovely and very much enjoyed by my wife and I enjoyed the Prosciutto Buratta (Although there was no olives present) Mains - We both ordered the fillet mignon which was cooked beautifully but the grilled vegetable and potato au gratin were not so good and a bit of a let down. Desserts - We ordered the chocolate supreme which sounded lovely but more specifically as my wife loves Strawberries. When it came we questioned why there was no strawberries and told very abruptly that it did not come with Strawberries....I questioned this as we both read it came with Strawberries but again were told no it didn't. We did not want to cause a fuss but you can verify that the menu states strawberries online http://212steakhouse.com/pdf/212Steakhouse-Desserts.pdf All in all a decent meal was spoiled by the gentleman that served us and we were not the only party in that evening he was like this to.

There are many incredible steak houses in NYC, unfortunately 212 is not one them. The food and service are disappointing. The sides are bland. The steak was so flavorless one person actually asked for ketchup. They do not have it. Another steak ordered medium rare came out well done. They fired a new steak and it came out rare. The center was cold. I had to go fill my own water glass. The waitstaff was not apologetic or gracious. The vibe is cold and the decor is tired. Save your money and run to the Palm or any other midtown steak house.

We went to this restaurant as my son was desperate to try kobe and wagyu beef. When we first arrived the restaurant was extremely quiet, bar a table that was next to us that had brought in a very large (well behaved) dog. I love dogs, but I really do not want to be eating an expensive meal with one right next to our table. The appetizers were ok, but the main event was the tasting platter. My son and I were sharing as it was a pricey option. We had to return the wagyu as it was so overcooked it was difficult to eat. They did replace it and it was very good. The Kobe beef was disappointing as well. We had a side of caulflower and cheese, which we enjoyed. We went on a weekday, so perhaps it was an off day. However, for such an expensive meal, and saying they are a steak house, you would think that they could cook their meat correctly. It is not a place I would recommend, unfortunately. I would not return.

I went alone on Sunday for lunch. I had their Australian "Wagyu T-bone." The quotation marks are there because I don't believe the steak I had was either Wagyu nor a T-bone. The flavor was closer to choice (or even select)-quality beef. Regarding the cut, a T-bone is supposed to have a little bit of fillet mignon. This steak had none. My side of creamed spinach was ok. On the plus side, the service was extremely friendly and efficient. But hey, I go to a steakhouse for the beef, not the service. Maybe their Kobe beef is better, but I am definitely not going there again.

We were a party of 4 on Sunday at 6 pm. Arrived the same time as a wedding reception which was in the back room but still very loud. They seated us in the very front of the restaurant ( I assume to be as far from the music as possible). The waitress suggested we order as soon as possible because the kitchen would get very busy which we did. -The bread took a while to come out and was toasted which to me means it was not fresh. the butter was cold so it could not be spread on the bread -Ordered 2 salads - both fine -Zucchini chip apps were good -ordered 4 steaks med- 3 were way too well done. The service Wes so slow that we opt not to send them back -ordered 3 sides, which in most steak houses serves 1-2, bearly served one. 2 people enjoyed the mashed, one enjoyed the creamed spinach, two enjoyed the Brussel sprouts. 👎 -still hungry after dinner and went to "The Smith" for burgers" -ordered one drink each -total for dinner 200 per couple, incl tax and tip. Plus the extra burgers

My friend and I ordered the calamari and zucchini as appetizers and they were okay. The main entree I had was the seafood risotto and it was unfortunately over cooked. The service was scattered and felt rushed even though it was a slow Sunday night. Overall, it was average not what you expect at a NYC steakhouse.

Very disappointing our dinner at the 212 Steakhouse. We made a reservation and they even called us back to check so I guess they should had informed us that they would only serve the Thanksgiving special. And that was really poor and a rip off. They had ran out off crab cake which was one of the appetizzers. Second the soup was so salted that we did not eat it.The only dish that was good was the little fillet. Even the desert was too sweet! They did not have the wine we chose and the waiter offered a more expensive one. Plus they gave us a table on the passage that shaked whenever the waiters passed. Total damage: 260 dollars for a bad dinner.

Though this is really a genuine old-time well established steak house as a guest who does not eat meat I found that their salmon was perfection. I noticed quite a number of tables with young men enjoying their meal as their reputation holds up to the promise of an excellent choice. I was a guest but I would not have chosen this place originally but have since changed my mind as it 's fish selection is also worthy of coming back for more. One thing I wish to caution you is that the music can be loud at first but if you ask politely they will turn it down Then too, the lighting is rather on the dark side which is pleasant for dining, but you might need some assistance at the stairs leaving the dining room, as I did and a waiter's arm was ready to assist.

My wife and I shared an order of the Porterhouse for the main course. The Portherhouse was cooked a medium rare, as I requested, and the meat was very juicy and tender. As I cut through them, it just melts like butter. We also did order a side of creamy polenta, which compliment our entrees well. For dessert, you must get the chocolate lava cake. Service was friendly and efficient.

Most of the New York steakhouses are a few blocks away, but it is worth the few blocks extra walk to go to 212 Steakhouse (located between Second and First Avenues on 53rd Street). Have been there several times, most recently a few days ago. Was never rushed. Tables are not on top of one another so that you don't have to ask someone at the next table to pull in so you can step out. Service was always good. The only Manhattan restaurant with Kobe beef. Recommendation: order the special (called something like the "Reserve Special"), has Kobe, Wagyu and another selection of beef that escapes me at the moment that I am writing this review. Gives you a very good sampling and different tastes. Since I always have trouble deciding what to order, this variety solves the problem. Also, start the meal with an order of their zucchini chips. Desserts are also delicious and well presented.

I LOVE this place! The ambiance is beautiful whether you go as a couple or in a group (I have been for both). I recently went last week and had a great time. The food is amazing, as usual.EXCELLENT and friendly service and the manager and the owner.... As well! Asking follow up questions...I recommend this restaurant to anyone currently in New York or planning on visiting!

Perfect service, well cooked food (kobe beef) with fair pricing. good utilization of space and with nice seat arrangement. really nice place with serene atmosphere for a meal

My daughter & I loved 212 Steakhouse. The food was delicious, service was wonderful. The restaurant is so charming & quaint, we had the best table in the house. We had such a great time & will definitely be going back.

This small little bistro amazingly is the only NYC out of 10,000 that serves real Japanese Kobe beef, only one of eight in the entire country. Manhattan is probably the steakhouse capital of America with most of the very top ones, Peter Lugar, Keene's, Sparks, Old Homestead to name just a few. I give those a slight edge over 212 on filet, strip, porterhouse and ribeyes. But, none serve the consensus most tender streak on the planet. My ribeye was superb, but the 3 oz portions of strip, tenderloin and ribeye (for $205) was the most tender steak I ever had. The service could not be better, albeit on a rainy night when the well-to-do locals were reportedly in the Hamptons and there were few other patrons. They were attentive, fast and knew their stuff. The place is small and while nicely decorated, not particularly special. There are two public parking lots with inexpensive rates directly across the street and right next door. The entire meal was exceptional.

Very strange seating arrangements meant that people waiting for takeaways were sitting in a row on chairs about 18" from, and facing, our table - watching us eat, and listening to our conversations. It was most disconcerting. Service was really slow; there only appeared to be one waiter working. The food was passable but, nothing to particularly write home about.

We were wary because of the reviews we read, but our friends had a Groupon to use. We should have trusted the poor reviews. The risotto was crunchy, the spaghetti was drowning in a flavorless sauce, and the steak aero lukewarm and poorly seasoned. In addition, our server was defensive and rude. Choose a different steakhouse!!!

I would give it 6 stars if I could. I attended a party there with over 50 people this past Saturday night and it was one of the best meals and best experiences I've ever had. Here is the menu:. Apps iat the bar included, crab cakes, shrimp cocktail, fried zucchini slices. Salad course was burrata with arugula, grilled calamari and a Greek salad. Entrees were kobe, wagyu, and porterhouse steak, lobster, chicken and gnoochi (for vegetarians) Everything was served family style, so everyone was able to try all of the dishes. The group was filled with people who eat at top NYC restaurants. Everyone felt it was one of the best meals they've ever had in NYC. Standouts were the steak and lobster and the grilled calamari and burrata. But, everything was delicious with the Kobe receiving true praise as among the best steaks ever eaten including Luger, Sparks, Del Friscos, etc. It is truly one of the most succulent pieces of steak I and the group would say they've eaten. . There was also assorted desserts including an extraordinary molten chocolate cake. Service was great from bartender to every waiter to owner/manager Nikolay who is a gem. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly

Our group enjoyed a private affair with fixed dinner. The appetizers were fantastic. Steak is there forte and they didn’t disappoint even with the appetizers. We had a fixed menus that consisted of about six choices. The steak was an assortment of Kobe, Wagu and Sirloin. It was great. I had the dynamite lobster and shared the steak with another. Unfortunately the lobster was disappointing. It was a stuffed presentation and therefore a lot of the lobster was lost except for the claw. The salmon cerviche however was great.

We enjoyed the majority of the meal. Upon entering the restaurant it must have been 5 min before we saw the hostess and the place was less than 25% full. We sat in the back and enjoyed the piped in 80's music. After ordering, it took about 45 min before being served our apps. The menu was somewhat limited but on the upside, everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. I would return here as long as I was not rushed.

My experiences at 212 Steakhouse have been wonderful. The waitstaff is very accommodating and the bartender is great! I have tried so far a lot of the entrees and appetizers -- and the steaks are cooked perfectly and the sides have lots of flavor and compliment the main entree well. Love the Kobe and the truffle mash potatoes. Also, the owner is a kind, generous guy who always has a welcoming smile. Highly recommend this steakhouse. And they have vegetarian offerings to boot. Definitely a mainstay restaurant on my list of go to restaurants.

Beware of this place. Service was horrendous at this restaurant. Read a lot of reviews before we made the reservation and honestly felt like I was in a different restaurant. Food was cold and tasteless. We waited 40 minutes for our wine. I suspect everyone in there was on a groupon deal. We have been eating out in Manhattan for 35 years and can honestly say this was the most bizarre experience we have ever had in a restaurant.

This is an update--having been here a few times, we now know what we want: the cut, temperature, sides, appetizers, drinks. It was our second go at the wagyu skirt steak ($48-10 oz.)—one was perfectly rare, the other perfectly black n blue. Talk about marbling! The onion soup ($10) was below their previous level. Ceviche ($14) was OK, but grilled octopus ($24) was to die for. Complimentary bread was warm and crusty; the best but only 3 rolls in all. Creamed spinach was very garlicky and good, tho smallish portion. Malbec ($14) accompanied the meat. Service was impeccable. Dishes cleared as tho staff had ESP, water refills, timing of appetizers and soup and mains was on target. Tables were small and space was tight, but tolerable. Restrooms are on same level, tho main level was a few steps up. Totally excellent experience…as usual.

We had reservations made weeks in advance yet they tried to sit us by the noisy kitchen at a wobbly table--the first time we asked to be moved we were told that was not possible- the second time we asked they moved us to the front. The food and service was good after that-- it was just a disappointing start to our family's special dinner out. Also found the bathrooms to be an absolute mess.

I went to dinner with some friends and it was absolutely amazing. We felt welcomed right from the start. Our server Alexander was very helpful, attentive, and he had knowledge of the menu and wines. The Kobe steak I had was fabulous and cooked to perfection. My friends enjoyed it as well. Two things we love are steak and wine. I look forward to dining here again.

Great service. You feel special from first moment coming there. Rich menu for steakhouse. Food is prepared exactly as told Medium is really medium). Everything very tasteful. Nice music and atmosphere.

We went with a LivingSocial deal to have a nice steak dinner. The restaurant was empty and we were seated right away. The decor was nothing special. Service was average, nothing special but not slow as in the other posts. My wife loved her food. She had french onion soup for appetizer, porterhouse with scalloped potato gratin. She raved about the soup and potato all night. The steak was tender and cooked medium rare as she ordered. I had the bone-in filet with baked potato. My only complaint was for the price, the potato was tiny. Overall a really nice night.

Not so good! The service is okay the food is too expensive and a bit over cooked. Not worth for the price you pay We will not recommend to go again

Don't fill up on the bread lol. I ordered the oysters for my appetizer and they were AMAZING. The guys next to me order lobster and said it's the best lobster they have ever had. While I was eating some crumbs hit the table and while the waiter was swapping out our dishes he quickly and effortlessly cleaned the crumbs off. I ordered a medium rare Halal Ribeye and I'm writing the review as I'm eating the steak. Honestly, Halal Steaks aren't generally that good BUT this WAGYU RIBEYE is by far the best Halal steak I've ever had in my life and compared to normal non-halal steaks it's also probably the best I've ever had. I ordered the chocolate souffle (never had it before) but it just melts in your mouth. I've been to a few Michelin rated restaurants and 212's steak is right up there.

The food is really delicious, the best steaks in the city, especially the kobe. They have large variety of appetizers, nice combinations of steak platters and amazing pretty large portions of the side dishes. Definitely one of the best experiences i've ever had.

Dined on the evening of 7/16 with another couple. Ordered "steak tartare" & "grilled octopus". Great appetizers. French onion soup & lobster bisque were delicious. The show stopper is the Kobe Tasting. Any delicious steak we have had until this point in our lives was a joke. This Kobe beef is unbelievable. It is so good we ordered another tenderloin tasting. If you eat any steak in NY and it's not at 212 you shouldn't even mention it, as you should just be embarrassed for yourself.

Had dinner with a friend. Did not have a reservation, but was seated at a table we asked for. The food and drinks here are good. Ordered a Sauvignon Blanc, which I did not like and was replaced by a Chardonnay. My friend ordered a Manhattan and said was one of the best he had! were very happy with appetizers; Mediterranean and the Kale salads. For main course we had the Filet Mignon and Salmon were good.

This was our first night in the city (fiance' and I) one year anniversary none the less, and looking to get that perfect steak but wanted to try a place that was kinda off the beaten path and not those other big chain steakhouses. We did our part and googled steakhouses and kobe steak places and this one popped up. they claim to be the only place in north America th is allowed to to sell certified Kobe beef... If this is the case then someone on the Kobe beef commitee needs to be fired ASAP! Ok, so we used opeanseat to reserve a table months in advance and then also called to make sure our reservation was still on. We show up to 212 resturant about an hour or so before our reservation so we could do our usuall routine and grab a few cocktails at the bar maybe some apps and just unwind and enjoy ourselves for the evening. When we arrived we were met by a young female hostess with a sort of surprised look on her face that we even reserved a table because the place was a quarter full on a saturday night. We explained to the hostess that we would like to sit at the bar and have a cocktail before dinner and she took us over to the bar where there was not a sole... cool, bar to ourself! We must of sat for a good 20 mins without being approached by a single bar tender/server, than a man approached us and literally said "what do u want to drink". My fiancee responds "may i see a wine menu" and the guy looks around for a couple minutes then gives it to her and then proceeds to ask me, i respond "i would like a appletini" the man say no problem. I kid you not, for 35 minutes, THIRTY FIVE minutes i watched this guy just walk around with his head up his you know what, then i got a little irritated and asked him if there was a problem. He said no. moments after i was given a half filled martini with god knows what in it... it was the worst drink eveer.. I told the man and he then said to me and i kid you not "sorry sir, our bartender never showed up so we are just going with it"!! I just looked at my fiance and said "lets do wine have you found one yet"? We ordered a bottle of wine, and about 20 minutes later a women in her early 20's came up to us with a bottle of wine that was not the one we picked and said "her is your bottle sir". At this point i was just like ok, whatever, Ill try it. The women then opened the bottle and was just going off on how good she was picking out and pairing wines with various types of food... As she un corked the bottle she put the cork on the table and stuck her nose, yes her nose, into the bottle, not once, not twice, but three times while sniffing it and telling us what she smelled.... her nose literally had red marks from the bottle on it... At this point i thought i was on one of those TV shows.. Punk'd... The women then asks if we would like bread, mind you we have been here for a while now and i adamantly responded YEs. Guess what? she never came back with the bread!!! At this point i was at my breaking point... As i start looking around the room i tend to see people in jean shorts, mess shorts, very laid back beach wear type of attire... come to find out there was some sort of groupon deal going on...it literlly felt like a cafeteria. As all of this was going on waiters were dropping plates and silver ware everywhere, the bar chair that i was sitting on was wobbely as all hell and the floor was about as dirty as barn floor. No way i was going to pay hundreds of dollars on wine and dinner in a shabby, poorly run establishment such as this one. I literally had my first anxiety attack ever in this place on my anniversary.... I got up, shaking, told my fiancee to grab her things and we just walked out after a hour and a half of no drinks or food..... This is the gods honest truth. Worst dining experience i have ever ever had.. This place is a joke. Im still in disbelief.... To make a long story short, we thought our night was runined by 212 but then we stummbled upon a place two blocks away called Teodoras"!! WOW!! what a god sent.. saved our anniversary, but that is for another review! Do you and your guest a favor... DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! ITs NYC, you can find way better!!!

Midtown location of this steakhouse is great and near United Nations. Hence, becoming favorites of diplomats. The Filipino chef named Nelson Vitangcol is friendly and is excellent.. Nice presentation of food.

The food is prepared perfectly. The wine list is amazing. The service is attentive, professional and unobtrusive.

Made reservations for a Sunday night. Restaurant was almost empty at 7 pm. It took some time for our server to get to us as he was clearly focused on another table. Ordered appetizers and dinner immediately. Food is ridiculously expensive. Had it been good, price is something we could have overlooked. Unfortunately, the food was awful! Steak ordered medium/well was raw. Lobster was overcooked, dry and tough. And the lobster, listed on the menu for $33, showed up on our bill as $50. We were told that they charge by the pound for seafood. There is NO WAY that was a 1.5 lb lobster. Restaurant staff was completely clueless and couldn't have cared less about refilling drinks or clearing plates. We had to walk over to the hostess to ask for our check as our server never came back after dinner. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

A friend recommended this place and we wanted to try it. The restaurant ambiance, decor, and location was perfect. Our waiter was attentive and informative. Unfortunately for us they did not have any Wagyu beef at the time of our visit. However, the ribeye for two was just as good. My son loves his steak as much as I do. My daughter loves their Mac and Cheese. Serving size is as expected in a steak house. The steak was done perfectly not overcooked and very juicy. My wife loves her Filet Mignon. Perfect dinner to close out a great day with he family.

A must when you are i New York! Do not miss the Kobe beef. It was amazing. The best beef I have ever tasted. I went with my girlfriend and we had the best time. The atmosphere is perfect and the staff is so charming and skilled. Definetly coming back next time in New York!

A great and friendly dive with excellent food and wine choices. Upscale feel while casual. Great service and ambience. Strongly recommended!

We did the steak combo sampler for two, truffled mashed potatoes, caprese salad and chocolate soufflé ... $198 after tip. no drinks. I wouldnt mind the price if they didn't over cook the australian wagyu AND kobe. I have had kobe several times and he said this kobe looks well but isnt. The one i received after was perfect, medium. The australian wagyu skirt steak was well done, clearly and they said no problem. That came back medium rare but i wasnt complaining. For a steakhouse, i dont think they cook steaks well. You can taste the truffle oil in the mashed, not bad I didn't care for it. My wife liked it. caprese was good. We ordered the chocolate soufflé and i wasnt shocked when i asked the waitress to write happy anniversary, she looked shocked and as if it was the first time hearing about it. I wrote in the open table reservation and called the night before to advise them, that is frustrating. It took 22 minutes for the desert to come out, good but not amazing. I was delayed 15 minutes due to the steak being overcooked and then 22 minutes for this dessert. They should have said it would take that long, we had to get across town to a play. I would go back, only for the kobe, not the sampler. Due to their delay on the steak and dessert, i feel they should have given me the dessert for free but oh well. I do not have a clue how this place got the privilege to serve kobe. We also were surrounded by two little kids, two different tables had their noisy kids with them. I'm not anti-kid but control them if they get loud. We were there for our anniversary.

The staff were excellent and looked after us as if we were VIPs, the steaks were very good and cooked just how we liked it after a short discussion.

Went on Groupon. Could be best meal ever. Everything was 5/5 except for stale bread!? Service attentive but not overly (we were only customers early on); careful to explain everything, and knowledgeable. Ambiance darkish but enough light to see food and menu. Well laid out, comfortable spacing, tiny ramp and no steps—restrooms on same floor. Pricing was expensive but fair for Manhattan ($225 with one glass of wine before discount). Appetizers—octopus comparable to best we’ve had in Greek restaurants, excellent marinade, portion tad small for $24. Salmon ceviche was told was Filipino style—mango, avocado, lime. Excellent and lots of it. ($14!) Sides—sauteed spinach with garlic and lemon, probably best we’ve ever had; very fresh, right proportion of garlic and abundance of lemon flavor, a real knockout, fair sized portion. ($12) Mushrooms in wine were plentiful and very tasty. ($12) Merlot was $12, decaf French press ($5) and chocolate soufflé ($12). Now the pieces de resistance…we had the 212 premium tasting platter for 2 ($55 pp) which includes a 6 oz filet mignon, 10 oz Wagyu skirt steak and a 2 oz kobe beef (the top grade Wagyu). While we knew 212 was the ONLY restaurant on the East coast certified to serve Kobe beef, since there have been pretenders like Homestead, our question was how could a diner know what s/he was served was indeed Kobe. The waiter conceded there was no sure way other than actually tasting it, comparing it and knowing thereafter what it supposedly should taste like…”an explosion of flavor, soft as butter” (as they all say about all good cuts). Hence, the 3 meat (pieces de resistance) were there to sample first in a specified order (per waiter) to see how they differed in texture and taste, and then and only to be eaten in any order of the diners’ choosing. It goes without saying all fine meats are to be ordered rare—charred on the outside, red and cool inside. I order black n blue if the chef can handle it. Perhaps bit snooty but to order otherwise is to really destroy quality meat; of course, diners can order it prepared any way they want, even well-done, if the chef will do it. Now to the meats: first, the 6 oz. filet. Good sized, charred very nicely and as advertised buttery soft and fat-free. Second, the 10 oz.wagyu skirt steak; again properly charred and almost bloody inside. Sliced appropropriately and plenty for both of us. Good marbling and so, juicy and very flavorful. This was my favorite cut as the filet was my companion’s choice. Last but certainly not the least was the star of this show, the 2 oz. chunk of Kobe beef. Charred the least, it was a nice red tender inside surrounded by a ring of famous Kobe fat!? It was by far the tenderest piece of meat we’ve ever ingested but I personally could do without the ring of fat which is what gives Kobe its subtle melt in your mouth flavor and sensation. There were 4 steak sauces available ($4) but it’d be a shame to obscure the flavor of the meats with any of them. All of the meats were salted adequately but not excessively. So, my plebian taste buds will save me a few bucks as I will go for the lower grade Wagyu cuts. While Wagyu is available in many other establishments, it seems 212 is an excellent place to have it and we’d return for that.

Try the Kobe steaks. The are A9 quality and you can choose the ounces you want. Service was great and chocolate cake was amazing.

My husband and I came here as walk in's and had no wait time on a Saturday evening a. We had the best table near the bar . We ordered the Dry aged Australian Wage porterhouse for two it was perfect...

All started pretty well when our party of 5 sat down to eat. The first course was ok but when they brought my T-bone steak I thought there was a mistake as what I received was a bone and a strip steak. I asked the server if there was a mistake and he said no that is a T-bone steak. I asked about the filet mignon side of the steak, typically found to the left. He said sometimes t-bones come with a filet mignon and sometimes they don't. I wasn't sure but with the aide of Google I lookeD it up and found that a t- bone always has a filet mignon on it.

Third time there and we are still excited about their steak. I ordered my usual Australian Wagyu bone in ribeye for me and my kids. My wife ordered the lobster dynamite. Food was prepared on a timely manner, the wait staff is attentive and informative. He recommended the Perfect accompaniment sauce with my steak. Food is excellent, the service is great, the ambiance is just right. I truly enjoy coming back each and every time since I know I’m will not be disappointed.

Visited on the labor day. It was absolute perfect experience again. The service and the food were excellent. Thank you 212Steakhouse.

I enjoyed meeting the waiters, the hostess and even had a nice chat with the owner. Very cool place with cool people!

The food was overpriced, and did not live up to what we expected. The waiter forgot me, and I had to ask twice for a glass of wine.

We made an impromptu last minute trip to NYC Feb 28-March 2 and one of the things we agreed on was we wanted to do a steakhouse for dinner one night. We went through the hundreds of NY steakhouses on Google and chose this one as it had fantastic reviews and the pricing seemed a little more reasonable than others. At first we were a little disappointed by the atmosphere as it was very quiet and in a subdued area of the city, but we knew that didn't mean anything. We were delighted with everything we ordered. We started with the caesar salad, shared the bone in rib eye with mashed potatoes and broccoli and a bottle of my favourite wine, J Lohr Cab Sauv. Everything was absolutely delicious, somehow we ate it all. Our waiter was lovely and very attentive, he took the time to go out of his way for us whenever he could but never hovered. There was what seemed like a private birthday party being hosted as of 11pm; they brought in decor, a DJ, a cake, etc. We were jealous we couldn't join! It seemed like a beautiful spot to host a party as well.

A little surprised it wasn't busier but it made for a quiet dinner. We were greeted very warmly by the hostess and quickly shown to our table near the window. It was there that she introduced us to our waiter Sasha who was equally charming. Dinner was good. We both had the lobster bisque. It was a little grainy but the color was just right and there were nice chucks of lobster. I loved the short ribs with truffled mashed potatoes. The meat was fork tender. My friend and I shared that with the lobster over black linguini. It was good but not great. Sauce was a tad bland but overall the dish was still tasty. We didn't have dessert but expect that is good too. Overall, good night, nice service and fine food. Would go again for the Kobe.

We booked this place for xmas day lunch before traveling to NYC we all had a great time the service the meal and setting was fantastic $ 75 per person set xmas menu but it was worth it. The staff make this place, very friendly and very accommodating

Amazing amazing Kobe ribeye. It's ruined all ribeyes for me from this point forward. Highly recommended! The bartender Mariken was beyond a pleasure and to deal with. Wonderful service and quality food. I'll definitely be coming back again.

One of the best steaks I've ever eaten. The service was outstanding, restaurant quiet, clean and everything we were looking for after a long day shopping and before the theater. The zucchini appetizer was light and just right before a heavier meal of steak and truffle mashed potatoes. Definitely try this place - just don't tell anyone - we want to be able to get in next time.

had the Filet Mignon it was cooked very well ! served with Bearnaise sauce ! atmosphere was awesome love the decor and the server was awesome , I will be back to try the Kobe Beef !!!

Friends recommended this steak house to us. Had a 7PM reservation and should have known something was amiss when there was only about 2 other couples there. Had a glass of wine that was a substitute for something I ordered - very disappointing. Four slices of bread served were stale. Spinach salad was extremely bland and made with hazelnuts. What happened to the mushrooms and bacon???? The worst was yet to come when we got our sizzling porterhouse. It was swimming in FAT - not buttery tasting - FAT tasting. The smell of the steak almost made me nauseous. Another restaurateur thought perhaps it was old (and I don't mean aged). Do not waste your money. Go to one of the "Peter Luger" places. There are a few that have opened by former Luger employees. They know their steak. One such place is the Empire Steak house next to the Courtyard Marriott on 54 Street. Yuk, makes me sick just thinking about the experience.

Things started poorly when it took 15 minutes to get cocktails, we were the only people in the restaurant. I requested croutons and dressing on the side of my romaine salad and it had to be sent back becuase it was dressed. We ordered a 20oz. Tbone. I asked what is their rare, we like warm red center. It came out almost well done, there was barely a pink piece. When I told the waiter it was too well done, he took it back to the kitchen. He returned telling us that becuase of the aging of the meat it would never be red inside.....I have never been told that in Peter Luger's, Gallaghers,Quality Meats, Wolfgangs or Ruth Chris...he suggested we get the filet mignon (more expensive) on the bone. It was cold in the center and tasted like it was on the verge of being rancid. The waiter asked how it was and my words" this is the worst steak I have ever tasted" he walked away. My husband ate the steak, I did not. He had terrible diarrhea when we got home and this morning. We had a caprese salad, romaine salad, grilled vegetables the filet and 2 cocktails each, the bill was almost $200 with the tip.....for a bad experience. Afterwards, I found out 212 steakhouse has a Groupon....no wonder, I wish we could have had 70% off of our bad experience.

Very poor dishes in taste and in appearance. The grilled octopus came late and ...boiled, and the kobe was definitely not the best meat I have ever eaten! I don't care if the cow had a massage and listened to classical music, I just have to say that quality and price do not agree in that place!!!

8 of us came and thoroughly enjoyed it. We ordered a range of steaks and salmon. All cooked perfectly. Filet steak was tender and tasty , best I’ve had in a long while. Side orders were shared and plentiful. Great cocktails too. Reasonably priced to match the quality of food and service

Unfortunately had an incredibly poor experience here. Made the fatal error of showing the Groupon voucher when we arrived so our experience was sub par, to say the least. Our waiter was abrupt, rude and patronising for no apparent reason. He referred to me as "Your Majesty"? Hilariously, we asked for the WIFI code and the same waiter blatantly lied to us, saying that there was no WIFI with a smirk on his face (despite 212 steakhouse clearly showing up as a connection). Undeterred, we tried the WIFI password as "212steakhouse" and it worked. Perhaps change the password to something more clandestine if you wish to lie to customers about not having WIFI! Food took ages and was distinctly average. A friend had visited the week prior to our visit and waiters had no issue giving her the WIFI password (crucially, she didn't reveal the WIFI password until after her meal). Wouldn't recommend.

it is a great place with a good interior. Good food with a good atmosphere. Enjoyed the food very much.

The experience at this restaurant was pleasant, great food, very good portions, tasty, great service, our waiteress Stefana was very nice. I recommend it.

My wife and I have just finished a meal at this restaurant. The Kobe beef is fantastic and a bucket list item well worth having. The sides, bread, zucchini chips etc are all fairly underwhelming and feel like the chefs couldn’t be bothered to create far more interesting options. The biggest disappointment however is the apparent delusions of grandeur the restaurant has. The restaurant and approach gives off a feel that they are something special and sadly I’m not convinced they are. The table to our right had two steaks among other dishes between 6 people and the one thing they sent back to the kitchen was steak! Our waitress Nino was very good and attentive but she couldn’t make up for the bad sadly. In short, the Kobe is well worth having but because of the rest of the experience being so lacklustre you are probably better to go to Keens.

This was the most wonderful Christmas dinner! The food was excellent, the staff was attentive and caring, and the restaurant itself was quaint and very comfortable. A must if you are in NYC!

Nice place with good atmosphere. Very pleasant and good service, good with regard to allergies and composition of food.

We were looking forward to visiting the restaurant, having had a good food experience with delivery. Were we ever disappointed. The arugula salad and calamri started off ok (calamari was actually quite good) and we then ordered the bone-in rib eye to share. It looked great when it came out, but the first bite put us completely off. There was absolutely zero seasoning. The steak was beyond bland and was as if we were biting into the cow. The side mushrooms were decent, but the sauteed spinach was bitter and sour, rendering it nearly inedible. We tried adding some mustard to the steak, which helped, but by that point I had lost all interest in it. The waiter did offer to replace it, but I didn't have the patience (we were already an hour into dinner) to wait another 30 minutes for something else to be fired. Tried the creme brulee for dessert, which wasn't bad. The highlight of the evening was the 2016 CabSauv from Stags Leap, which was exceptional. Waitstaff was ok, but not near the level of attentiveness that I have had in other steakhouses. As the steak is meant to be the centerpiece at 212 I can't give them more than a 2 as it ruined the entire meal.

First, I would like to start off this review with the fact that I visited this restaurant before about 2 years ago and had a wonderful time. This experience, however, was ruined by the owner of the place. We got to the place at our reservation time and were promptly seated. We ordered drinks and had them at our table within 5-10 minutes of ordering them. We had to ask our server for actual menus, but no big deal there. We ordered muscles for an appetizer and the 212 Premium for 2 for dinner. The muscles were great, had the barest amount of sand, but super tasty. The diner broke down however at the main course. When first our steak arrived, all the steaks were charred and overcooked. We, of course, ordered all the steaks mid-rare and nothing was below medium-well, one was even well done. We send it back and await their return, but we notice both a 4 top behind us and a 2 top beside us had to send back most or all their dishes for being overcooked as well. While we wait for our steaks, the food comes back for the 4 top, which had to send back on of their steaks again, and the owner comes over to the 2 top next to us. They had each ordered the Kobe tasting all of it was overcooked and didn't appear to be Kobe. The owner argued loudly that the couple didn't know what they were talking about and refused to listen to them about their concerns. We get out 2nd round of steaks and the Kobe, which didn't look or taste like it did last time was only slightly overcooked this time so to bare my wife the hassle we ate it. The skirt steak was fine, but also not near as juicy as years before and the filet came back blue with a cold center. The take it to get refried, because apparently this is Applebee’s and they can’t afford to cook another steak correctly. It comes back over 10 minutes later well done around the first ½ inch and rare (a warm rare at least) in the middle. We send back the filet and the server says she will take it off the bill. Meanwhile, the owner, who was at the bar drinking for a while comes back to the 2 top to argue more. He is yelling that they don’t know how Kobe beef should look and that the reason their steak doesn’t look marbled correctly is because of the cut. He slams down a raw Kobe ribeye, perfectly marbled at their table. But from watching enough videos and getting the Kobe experience 2 years before, I agree with the 2 top that the cuts they got were not Kobe. At this point, our server informs us that the owner wouldn’t allow her to take off the filet from the bill because they tried to fix it. I’m so angry but not with her that I just accept the bad night. I ask her if the man yelling is truly the owner and she embarrassingly put her hands to her head and tell me that it is the owner. When asked if they changed ownership recently, she shakes her head and says something along the lines of no, it’s the same owner, but some rules have changed. It’s a shame that such a nice restaurant, and the only one of the east coast even allowed to sell real Kobe beef has allowed itself to fall so low. My experience here was night and day with just a few years in-between. I felt like I was on an episode of kitchen nightmares and was even hopping for Mr. Ramsey to step out and save the night but to no avail. I don’t often write reviews, and when I do, they are normally positive, but this experience was so horrifying that I couldn’t let it go. I only hope that something is done fast to save this place from itself. I am angry with myself for not arguing with the owner myself, but my wife is very sensitive to confrontation and I didn’t want to put her in that situation. I am more so upset that an owner of an upscale restaurant has the gall and audacity to argue loudly and openly in front of all their customers in between drinking at the corner of the bar. Never once did I see a smile on his face and never once did he speak in anything less than a shout.

I wanted steak and my wife wanted fish and this fit the bill near our hotel. The wait staff were friendly and attentive without being pushy and were not up sellers. We split the Caesar salad. Very nice. I had the 12oz striploin and my wife had the wild halibut - we shared a side of mixed mushrooms and creamed spinach - every dish was very good. Steak was well seasoned and cooked perfectly as asked (medium rare). Halibut was yummy. Wine list is not extensive but more than enough global choices to match your dish. We enjoyed ourselves and will likely return.

Had meal similar to first with 2 exceptions: meats were 10 oz. Australian wagyu and 8 oz filet mignon; and side was only spinach. So comments previously on ceviche and octopus are still apropos. Soups excellent, although bisque was more in the style of a crab or turtle soup.. Bread not stale. Filet mignon ordered medium rare was rare, maybe black n blue. Wagyu was medium rare, but had been emphasized was to be bloody rare—black n blue. It was probably a mix-up on how each piece was to be prepared but there was no real apology and no comp, none was requested. We just ate what we were incorrectly served and still enjoyed it tho bit less than if prepared according to instructions. The meats were European salty, like there was no lid on the salt shaker. Spinach was supposed to be sautéed but we got creamy spinach instead; not realizing that until after we took bites from it, we also accepted it as is. So, everything was quite good, but waitressing and cooking were subpar. Friendliness of reception on entry, during meal and after meal can mitigate poor service but getting both meats done incorrectly and one side switched is bad enough, but all the worse because of the prices we paid. We already have another Groupon to go back, but if they swing and miss again, it’ll be their 3rd strike.

Went on a Tuesday evening and it was not very busy so I was a little nervous but the steak and lobster mac n cheese were amazing and so was the server. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant!

Visited in June for my daughters wedding celebration meal.Party of 11 including a one year old. Food and service excellent. Couldn't do enough for us .Made my daughter and husband feel so special along with the rest of the party.Provided gluten free for my daughter and special meal for the one year old. Thank you very much for providing an amazing finish to a special wedding day

It seemed like I picked a wrong date to try this steakhouse. The Wine list was very minimal which is not typical of a steakhouse and the bottle that I wanted to order they were out of it. The Octopus that we ordered as app was excellent. In main course they were out of Lamb Chops. It seemed like nothing was working for me for my date night :( We ordered Sea bass which was okay and the Lobster was okay too. Nothing spectacular. I don't see myself going back there until something major has changed. Sorry :(

Very good quality food and reasonably priced. Filet was perfectly cooked. Second time here and will return again

Had Wagyu steak with lamb chops, mac & cheese. Steak was properly cooked to medium rare and lamb chops were perfect. Loved every bite and really enjoyed it. Would go again

We were a party of 8 and everything went great. Our waitress, Nino, was excellent. She helped us celebrate a birthday in a special way. She was extremely attentive. My lamb chops and truffle mash potatoes were so delicious. The pear salad was also great. Lots of great wine. overall, the night was so perfect.

My wife and I walked in without a reservation at 5:30 on a Saturday night. From when we were first seated until we left the service was impeccable. The entire wait staff was pleasant, attentive and efficient without being intrusive. Started with the Arugula salad and Oysters both good. I had the 10oz Australian Wagyu Skirt steak which was cooked to order, juicy and flavorful, and a side of Creamed Spinach. My wife had the Lamb Chops, which, unfortunately, were slightly overcooked. Her sides of Polenta and Brussels Sprouts were well prepared. Cocktails were excellent, although the wines by the glass menu is a little bit lacking. Prices are as expected at a NYC steakhouse
Nice & cosy, great food but expensive
We went there on our first trip to NY. It was seriously amazing. The food was great, fresh and delicious. The service was perfect. One point is the price, a bit expensive so be prepared to open your wallet. If you are it's definitly worth it.
