Fantastic food for the price, no wait and meal was ready in under 4 minutes. Reliable, good food for a steal. $6 gets you a mix of chicken and lamb gyro meat over spicy rice, salad, and a generous topping of the venerable white sauce. Not as much food as the other places, but hits the spot and is cheaper. By no means are the portions small, however! Friendly people who took my cash and doled out the meal in a matter of minutes. Highly recommend if you like yummy Halal rice and meat and don't want to stand in line for 20+minutes.

Very nice food but be prepared to queue for around 40 minutes. For food in Manhattan the price is very reasonable and the staff are friendly.

Food trucks in NYC are a dime a dozen right? Hot dogs, sausages, gyros, rice bowls, falafel, you see them on every street corner. But, once in a while, if you do a little digging, I think you can find one that knocks your damn socks off. And that is Adel's. This particular truck is widely praised and rightly so. We actually went here for late night eats three times in five days. WHAT. But the rice bowls were just that insanely fantastic. Every night, I watched gleefully as they chopped and seared the piles of meat and vegetables and then spooned massive portions of it on top of lettuce and pita. And it didn't matter if we got lamb (hello, I don't even like lamb!), chicken, or combo, spicy rice or yellow rice, white sauce or none, hot sauce or none (though good lord I loved that fiery fabulous hot sauce), every single bite was perfection. By the end of our third visit, the owner recognized us and I told him we were leaving NYC but we would come back to see him next time. Fast and friendly, cheap, delicious, perfect. What an absolute gem. Super glad to have found this place.

This is hands down the best food cart I've ever been to. Great food, great service and a great value. Never disappoints - glad you guys are doing ok through covid. Stay safe!

Queues for 40 minutes but seems like this is ordinary for this food cart! Great halal food. Recommend the lamb rather than the chicken.

We walked by on our way to go see Chicago. The line was so long that we knew that it had to be delicious food. When out of our show we decided to stroll back by and again the line was long. We decided we just had to wait in line to try this food! We waited and let me say… it was well worth it. We had the spicy lamb salad. It was well worth it. No wonder why it’s world famous.

We had the meat kebab from this food truck not even knowing that it was a very popular place to eat in NYC. The meat is tender and the sauce is refreshing but for us, it's the thickish, soft and fluffy pita bread that ties it all together (very different to the bread /pita bases that we are used to in Australia) We also had the chicken and rice dishes but we liked the kebabs more, all for $7-$8. N.B. apparently they feature very highly on Yelp too.

I enjoyed the royal mix proposed by Adel, it was worth the queue which was long. The meat is very good.

I've heard so many good things about Adel's. It's line is longer than any halal cart in recent memory, even longer than Halal Guys. And to be honest, it's not worth it. The food is actually not that great. Not a fan of the marinated chicken. The lamb is decent. The rice (and spicy rice) is interesting. Extra white sauce costs extra. If you don't have cash, however, you're able to pay by credit card for a fee.

Wonderful street food! a classical and always delicious. lamb over rice was excellent!!! Exactly on 49th and 6 th av., walking distance from Times Square, open until late! Cheap prices!

We couldn't leave NYC without trying this kind of food. It was freezing cold and we ordered one lamb and one chicken gyro. For $5 each, you get a huge thing well filled, warm and delicious. I'll give them a 10! This street food is worth it, and I guess the other dishes they offer must be great too.

Online the hours say starting 2 pm but just know they may not get ready until 6 pm. The line gets long right away.

The lamb gyro just melts in your mouth. The pita is fresh, the lamb melts in your mouth, and the vegetables also taste very fresh. Definitely worth stopping there.

We were Just wondering around the area AFTER we had bought some halal around the corner. We saw this place had a LONG line and made a mental note to circle back around if we were in area and try them. Now are we glad we did! For $7, we each got chicken over rice (I got some tasty spicy rice - try it!). After getting back to the hotel to eat it, we realized we even could have shared one - they give you that much food. Fantastic price for some tasty food. Go try it out!

An absolute must don’t let the queue put you off . Food is amazing and when you get to being served it’s fast . Best street food I had in NY

Queued up for 20mins, USD10 for a portion of chicken over rice, bottled drinks available at USD3. Very generous serving of white sauce. To be fair, I am not usually a fan of chicken over rice. Will probably return a few months later as it is a very heavy meal! Still highly recommended for a first timer.

Like it a lot. It’s my go to for dinner. Really like the lamb over rice. Yellow rice. It usually comes with the pita bread, though, sometime it mysteriously doesn’t show up. Highly recommend over the other halal carts.

Good service and better than the high volume carts. Food is freshly prepared rather than the seeming conveyor belt system of the other carts.

I've had other NYC halal food carts and wanted to try Adel's food truck (46th and 6th). Glad I did and it will be another place to stop at when I return to NYC. Chicken and rice platter was $6. Ordered 2 - one with spicy rice and the other with yellow rice. Both were excellent. White sauce was flavorful. Red sauce was HOT. What made Adel's stand out from other food carts was that the guy taking orders actually talked to me while the cooks were doing the cooking. I'd have no problem coming back. Cheers!

WOW !!! The best street food in NYC. The food here is absolutely amazing i definitely recommend coming for sure and i will most definitely be coming back here. The staff are super lovely and friendly too !!

Excellent tasty food. Ordered a falafel wrap for $5. Please note that this is a food cart and not a dine in restaurant. There is a public garden with benches opposite to sit on and enjoy the food.

Totally worth standing in line for and the 20 minute wait, this food cart did not disappoint ! My husband and I shared a chicken with rice meal, we weren’t overly hungry at the time- but to be honest, my gluttonous self regretted not ordering my own it was SO good!!!

I was parked beside this cart for almost an hour and during that time, I saw so many professional drivers double park to get out and get food. I finally gave in and got the lamb with chicken combo over yellow rice with pita, salad, and white sauce (on the side). It was the best I have ever had! The lamb was outstanding. Will definitely make my way back.

Most delicious chicken dish I’ve ever tasted. Chicken over rice, mixed yellow and spicy rice with lashings of white sauce. AMAZING! Absolutely worth the 45mins wait 👏🏻🙌🏻

Waited in line. Luckily we were first. So wasn’t a terribly long wait. About 1 hour. That all said, I don’t think worth all the hoopla. Twas ok food. That said, prices were reasonable.

The waiting time can be long, thus be here on time. It's possible to be standing in line for about an hour or longer, but it's totally worth the price. The quality of the meat and rice is exceptional. I ordered the mixed meat menu option, meaning I got lamb meat and chicken on top of spicy rice and the white sauce. You also get a piece of Middle Eastern bread with your order. And all of this for a low price of 10 dollars. It's an absolute steal. I highly recommend this place. They're located next to a small park area, so you can eat in peace. The portion size is generous. Make sure you know what you want, because they take the orders quickly and you don't have the time to stand and think about it when they're asking you what you want to eat.

I liked it, good and cheap... if you don't like pepper, ask for it without because with pepper it is very strong! It costs 9 dollars and is enough for 2 people! It is worth it!

Nowhere else have I ever seen such a line for street food! Great food for the price. Efficient-The line does move quickly.

good food, I feel discriminated against as a tourist all the locals were served generously to me no, but good food.

i pass by this food cart almost everyday and i don't mind eating their food over and over. The way they cook chicken is on another level, This is a quality halal food place in Midtown !

Portion very big, it tasted pretty good, not outstanding, lots of rice and not so much meat, I had the mixed meat with spicy rice. We waited an hour, queue didn't seem to be that long, it just took ages which surprised me considering you can really only order one thing. If the queue is short I would go again, but I wouldn't queue an hour

Well after hearing all of the hype, I finally decided to try Abdel's. I ordered the combo over spicy rice and a gyro combo. Coming from the Caribbean, we are well accustomed to spices and flavor and omg was this joint a miss...but I guess for a different palate, perhaps. The meals were as bland as can be and if that is supposedly the best in NYC then I guess our halal foods in the Caribbean should begin selling in NY. I'm glad that I did it though, have to try things at least once.

Fresh and hot gyros served super fast off the grill. Gyros are grilled and mixed on the grill right in front of you. Food is hot and fresh and tastes great. Even more sauce would have been better, so next time, extra sauce will be requested. No seating or anything like that is provided, so you'll have to find your own place to sit or eat it on the go.

After seeing reviews on vlogs on our 1st night we decided we'd try the famous Adels Halal Cart and it didn't disappoint. I had meat combo over spicy rice and my wife had meat combo over normal rice and for $10 each you really can't go wrong. Big portions that tasted delicious. Would definitely recommend. Queue was long but goes down quick enough and the food is worth queuing for.

We travel to the Middle East, usually yearly and have been to Kuwait and Dubai so we love us some Arabic food…especially Shawarma. However, this is our most favorite-est we have found to date!

Very good food, first time I ate ‘halal’ and I was happy. Next time I'll definitely go back. To go there

Halal Guys was the standard, but no more. Do yourself a favor and walk a couple of blocks down to Adel's. Tasty lamb and terrific spicy red sauce, which provided heat but also plenty of great flavor. I'll be back ... maybe on this same business trip.

This place is so iconic and a must go if you’re visiting the city. This is your traditional NYC food cart. Don’t expect anything fancy. Food is 100% halal. Everything was seasoned, cooked well and packed with plenty of flavor. My friends and I got the chicken/ lamb combo over rice platters. You can customize to have the regular rice or the spicy one. Each platter was under $10 with tax. They do accept credit cards now. Even on a cold weeknight the line was 50 people deep. Expect a minimum 45 minute wait if you go. This place is nostalgic and we loved every bite. They even offer a tangy bbq sauce as well. The bread is on the bottom and it soaks up all of the flavor. There were plenty of benches to sit down and enjoy your meal.

You have to try this. Chicken over rice for $9 enough for 2 people what is there not to like. The hot sauce is HOT. Be prepared to queue but it is worth it ! Very friendly guy who takes the order with a great sense of humour.

This was one of the best gyro carts i have been to in a long time. I will travel the 40 miles to go here again.

The wait was worth it! after 45 minutes spent in line, and some discussions with other customers. We were finally able to enjoy two very consistent and delicious dishes: chicken over rice and combo over rice, a mixture of chicken and meat. We didn’t dare to take the spicy version (travelling better be careful). I can only recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative to burgers and pizzas

Food is honest and good. Staff very friendly. Went there on Saturday night after show and the queue was crazy - almost two hours! Makes no sense, but should everything be always logical and rational? Just enjoy the atmosphere with the people around you and buzz of the city.

I have been coming to Newyork since 2014 and Chicken over rice is one of my fav dishes. Another halal food Cart at 33St x broadway - IMO, they serve the best COR (Chicken over rice), and then I came across Halal guys on 6th avenue- that became my fav cart, and now here's the boss of middle east food cart- ADEL's. Never tasted better COR than Adel's. Located right at Radiocity junction- you can't miss it. Chopped pita, yellow rice- superbly grilled chicken pieces- lettuce- white sauce and spicy tangy red sauce - Woww!! it's just amazing. Ask for more white sauce when you order. Lamb over rice- can't say the same but their signature item COR - it's just great. Nowadays, if you go there in peak time- there is 30 min to an hour waiting and I think the Owner should work on 'how to serve better, but hey, I do wait for their COR cause you just can't miss it. They don't have a specific menu, I guess chicken over rice-lamb over rice: they call it platter, each $8, and then gyros ($7). they accept cards. if you wanna have middle east halal food- Go for Adel's.

I came here at 1:00 AM and there was a 30 minute wait! This place popped up on my social media and I think the hype is warranted. All the halal carts in the city are pretty good in my opinion and somehow this one stands out above the rest.

Had heard about this place--just one of many food trucks, but worth seeking out. The seasonings were fantastic, the sauce divine, and huge portions. We took our meals to a small seating area close to a fountain and had one of our best meals at an unbelievable price- while people watching! Not for those wanting to sit down at a table with china and utensils, but we will go back again when we are hungry!!

This place came highly recommended on various social media platforms and on our first evening in NY decided to try it out. At first we were slightly deterred by the long queue (around half an hour), but when trying the food could understand why the line was so long! The food was delicious, at a reasonable price, and the staff were really friendly. We were so impressed that we returned here on our last evening and would certainly do so if we visited NY again. A definite must eat in New York!

Got in late to NYC from the West Coast, thought we’d just grab some halal from Adel’s. waiting in line on 6th Avenue for around 90 minutes. Was it worth it and would I do it again? Yes and no. Whilst the food is undoubtedly tasty, we were in the city for 2 weeks and because of the extended wait times, we didn’t go back. Your call🤷♂️

Saw a recommendation for Adel"s on YouTube so thought we'd try it out. We were not disappointed. Big portions and very tasty. Long lines can only mean one thing. Staff were efficient, quick and friendly. If we were in New York for longer we would definitely go back.

This is a food cart. I arrived at 5:30pm and he was just starting to set up so I walked around--I should have stuck around because when I came back at 6pm, he already had 4 or 5 orders ahead of me. I ordered chicken with rice and it came with some pita bread. It was a huge order just like all the other reviewers stated. I also got a side of falafel. All for just $9!! I loved the food and the spicy sauce they put on it was really spicy--perfect! I even had them give me additional hot peppers on the side. This is some of the best mediterranean food I have eaten.
You can't miss it - just get in line at 6th Ave
This street food is cult. Whenever I have been nearby, I went there for a quick takeaway. Absolutely worth the waiting time in the line.
