Tasty and Welcoming!

By Alexis L |

My husband and I stumbled upon Allora when the restaurant we originally planned had too long of a wait. What a nice find! It was busy, but there was one table available and they sat us right away. Both of our dishes were really tasty (rigatoni bolognese and veal parmesan). Highlights of the night included the complimentary peppers, cheese and meats before our meal and the Grappa drinks at the end of our meal. The lively atmosphere was enhanced by some of the dishes made table side as well as the courteous and friendly wait staff. I loved hearing them speak Italian and it looked like they all truly enjoyed working there. Great night out overall!

Wonderful start to finish. Food ambience and service were all perfect.

My husband and I had delicious meals at this beautiful intimate Italian restaurant. Ben made every moment special. We started with amazing small plates that are offered at no charge. The zucchini crisps were like nothing I’ve ever tasted. We had meats and cheese and a marinated pepper. Our meals included the chicken in a balsamic glaze and an endless pasta dish with meatballs. We loved everything about the evening great service nice ambience. This restaurant is a throwback to the original Italian eateries I remember from early trips to NYC. Great service beautifully set tables etc. We finished with a complimentary Limoncello.

Dynamite Restaurant

By Tom F |

My wife and I have been visited NYC 2x or more a year for the past 15 years. This place is going to be on our regular rotation for years to come. Small, personal service, great food, friendly staff, how could you go wrong. BTW, the piece of veal I ordered, was not only huge, it was tender and delicious.

Beware how you pay at this restaurant - it could give you more than indigestion

By David W W |

We ate on two occasions at this restaurant and the food was overall very good. The service was very friendly overall, however, for us the true shock was the next day On our second meal we paid by credit card and the next day we noticed a double, thats right double, charge. I immediately went and spoke with John the manager, showed him the charge, to which he replied it was impossible. I then e-mailed him the details and guess what he increased one to include a tip he'd forgotten and left the other. No reapply from them or correction which occurred when the bank intervened Overall a very unsatisfactory behaviour, one I have never had before and for that reason would not recommend this establishment

Fantastic Italian Meal and a Perfect Evening

By Teresa D |

Allora was recommended to us by friends and we are so glad that they did! Not only did we have excellent food, but the proprietor made us feel right at home! The menu is quite comprehensive, but he helped us by suggesting an assortment of seafood appetizers, salad and a sampling of all that nights specialty raviolis! What a treat! It would be easy to walk past the small sidewalk storefront of this restaurant but DON’T. Head in and have a fantastic meal. Enjoy!

Amazing breakfast, lunch & dinner!

I had an amazing breakfast, lunch & dinner here. Staff is friendly. I liked the location of the resturant.

Great

We stayed at Bernic hotel and had breakfast in Allora restaurant. It is wonderful restaurant with good atmosphere. Waiters are kind and the food is excellent. John, the manager of the restaurant is also a great person.

Overpriced but good food, service can be worked on

By CanadianTravelGurl |

Positives: Food is tasty and and nicely presented. The starters they bring at the table are a nice touch (the cheese is unreal!). Cozy little restaurant The not-so-positives: Extremely overpriced for what you get. The minestrone soup was tasty but barely a cup amount. Our waiter wasn't friendly and somewhat grouchy, taking away from the atmosphere of the restaurant. Chicken is very overpriced for being only chicken, no vegetables or pasta on the side. The cheesecake is very plain, only a ripe half strawberry with it, no fruit coulis, nothing. We had to ask 3 times for another slice of bread, as well as water refills. My mom and i were splitting the tomato and burrata salad, and he brought it on 2 plates for us and charged us for 2. If we did in fact get our own salads by mistake, that is extremely overpriced for a slice of tomato and cheese (though that was some of the best burrata I've ever had). When he brought the bill, we pointed out it was a mistake and he said rudely we had 2 salads - i reminded him i had mentioned we were sharing the salad and he offered to bring it out on 2 plates, luckily he fixed the bill (which he just dropped on our table, no acknowledgement of any mistake on his part). All-in-all, the food was good but not worth the price (even for Manhattan)

An excellent dinner out

By Mike S |

We went her purely by chance as we had just landed in NY and fancied eating somewhere other than our hotel. What a wonderful place. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and delicious food. My main course was so good that I had two helpings! They also coped with my allergies really easily as it was all cooked fresh. Excellent wine list too.

Worst breakfast ever, a virtual joke

By RGSOUNDF |

With dozens and dozens of NYC restaurants we have ever visited, the Allora experience was the worst one, and not arguably but quite certainly and well-deservedly. The smallish restaurant in the ground floor of the newly opened Bernic hotel reeks of the total lack of professionalism bordering on a farce. First thing first. We believe we were the first customers ever that ordered breakfast à la carte, everyone else helped themselves to a ridiculously meager buffet (if you can call it). Please refer to our pictures, the sparse few trays offering one kind of cold cuts, hard boiled eggs and supermarket cereals. And even that joke of a buffet wasn't getting replenished, the trays demonstrated orbi et urbi a lonely looking store-bought bagel and orange-colored cheese cubes. The waiting staff was on par, i.e. as ridiculously unskilled as the rest of the establishment. The barely English-speaking server had to ask us three or four times what we wanted, the steak and eggs arrived fully cooked and not rare as requested, there was no steak knife, our Pecorino scramble arrived without the promised sausages, of which we had to wait a long time just to be surprised with the supermarket turkey links, totally cold. Not even toasts offered! Not once were we offered to refill our tea and coffee. We have never experienced a similar abomination ever, regardless of a city, country or continent. Avoid by all costs.

Allora has the Allure!

A great little hidden gem near the Chrysler Building and Grand Central. Tucked away in the Bernique Hotel you might never know it was there. But the food....Oh, my. As they say in that movie, "have the veal, it's the best in the city'! Our waiter Kicho was also superb.

Great food and experience.

By Leah R |

Had a lovely dinner here before heading to a broadway show. Very attentive service and they brought over a complementary antipasti prior to ordering my meal, which was a bonus. The food was very very good, fresh, and reasonably priced.

Don't miss this restaurant - food and service are impressive

By Bluefield I |

We had our Christmas dinner at Allora and both the food and experience were absolutely wonderful. Everything was impeccable and many items are prepared tableside, which is something you don't get to experience much any more. The portions were generous and We were welcomed like friends and couldn't have chosen a better place to spend our family Christmas dinner.

Don't miss out on this gem!

By Love2EatSleepTravel |

Excellent restaurant in The Bernic hotel. We chose to eat at the bar. The bartender, Ana, was excellent. I had a lemon drop that was delicious and smooth. My husband had an old fashion (okay, maybe 3)! Owner is in the house as well as his son, Ben, who is also very personable. Food was delicious - caprese, chicken special, rigatoni with bolognese ... topped off with carrot cake and coffee. Yum! Highly recommend!!

Open for breakfast too!

By Orr R |

I had breakfast there before a business meeting and enjoyed the entire experience. There is a limited menu but liked the avocado toast with feta Service was very courteous and yet professional

This Place Deserves 6 Stars

Allora is EXCELLENT! This quaint little Northern Italian restaurant is the place for a great dining experience. I enjoyed an amazing authentic Caesars Salad and delicious risotto. Oh and they have Fantastic service.

Absolutely AHHHHMAZING from start to finish!!! Do not miss out on this spectacular meal!!!

By MStachurski |

Allora Ristorante in NYC was absolutely AHHHHMAZING! Best Italian food we have ever eaten. Family owned and bursting with flavor! Best kept secret in NYC! We must return to try more on the menu before we leave... hopefully a couple more times! ❤️❤️❤️ Every time we looked around we kept seeing more dishes at other tables we MUST come back to try. The Pappardelle Fra Diavolo was simply SENSATIONAL as well as the Branzino, a Chilean bass cooked to PERFECTION! We started off with the Mozzarella Di Bufala Alla Caprese and ended with the Cheesecake, both were absolutely DIVINE! We also thoroughly enjoyed the Cinnamon Grappa which was suggested and it most assuredly did not disappoint! Don't wait to visit this fabulous establishment because you will want to come back again while you are still in town!!! Open daily 12-11. Tell John I sent you, he was INCREDIBLE!

Fab Food On Our First New York Night

By claudialcl |

We gave Allora a try because of its Midtown location close to where we're staying in New York for the first time to celebrate Mum's birthday, but soon discovered that the fantastic Italian cuisine was the real attraction. The extensive range of specials complemented the impressive menu. Fortunately, we received a platter of antipasti to nibble while we debated our choices. Eventually we settled on the scallops, langoustine risotto and veal, and can recommend them all. These savoury treats were followed by equally delicious desserts. But it wasn't just the food which made our visit to Allora so memorable: Franco and his team made us feel special with their attentive (but not overbearing) service, and particularly treated the birthday girl - though we all enjoyed the homemade limoncello! New Year’s Day

By paul |

Me and my wife were having a short break in New York, we were staying in the Lexington hotel round the corner and was recommended by the doorman. Staff were very friendly, starters were delicious and our main meal was lovely, I was surprised how big the portions were . Would definitely recommend

Exceptional service and wonderful food!

By brownc1426 |

Great place for food and drink and they even have a Prosecco hour in the evening. They were also nice enough to allow us to take calls from our table for various meetings.

A little more than casual

By Timothy W |

I was under the impression the restaurant was casual. It was definitely more upscale. We had a 5:30 reservation so we could get to our play on time. They were still quiet at that time, but even as the restaurant began to fill the staff was very attentive. I see a review title "When service elevates a meal"... A perfect title for our evening. The waiter had gone through the specials. We were considering our options and the owner approached our table. He asked if we had any questions, and refreshed us on the specials, and finished with "I'll make you whatever you want". We ordered from the menu/specials, but to have an offer like that while dining is unheard of. We started with some Pinot Noir and Reisling respectively. They brought a selection of breads and rolls to choose your favorite. They also provided a plate of peppers, and another of salami & chunks or Parmesan. Be careful the peppers can be spicy. I eventually gave in and requested some milk. I started with the Tuscan baby kale salad. For our entrees my daughter picked the 30' pasta with meatballs. I had the Venison with berry sauce & potatoes. My husband had the lobster stuffed squid ink ravioli. We tried parts of each others dishes. They were all delicious! We split a dual layer custard like desert that had chocolate ganache and a wafer crunch in the middle. It was superb. They then offered a car of grappa, house made/infused liqueurs. Whoa the fig and apriot were strong. The limoncello had a nice flavor. Elevate your next dining experience in NYC and visit Allora.

Be aware the seafood is not fresh and overcharge

By Jessica |

It's a small restaurant. Setting is good. They are serving in fast pace. Most waiters and bus boys dress professional and seem nice. However food is plain no flavor. Seafood Mussel does not taste live or fresh. It's stale and smells. Moreover, my waiter is dishonest. He tried to fool me and overcharge. Just in case I did not pay attention. I ordered no drink but only ice water, he charged me $9 on my bill for a glass! The tonight special appetizer he also tried to over charge me. An appetizer for $25 with two cubes of octopus? You must be kidding me. Only until I asked, he changed the price. He twice changed the wrong bill, he must wish I am not careful enough to read and just paid. I still tipped him now I regretted. I do read the bill!

Elegant Atmosphere, Exceptional Food, Perfect Celebration

By Clara J |

Allora is absolutely phenomenal! The atmosphere is elegant, upscale, and so inviting. The food was exceptional. For the first time since the pandemic, I had a Caesar salad that actually tasted like a Caesar salad—fresh, perfectly balanced, and truly delicious. The tagliatelle with shrimp was incredible—rich, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The wine was excellent, and a glass was the perfect way to celebrate a successful evening or the start of the holiday season. Every detail made the experience unforgettable.

Amazing experience!!!

By Sam S |

On our arrival in NY we visited this gem of a restaurant (as we were staying next door) and had the most wonderful evening. We were made an enormous fuss off and recommended the best Italian food that either of us have ever eaten. The home made Lemoncello was divine and the ravioli was amazing. What a wonderful start to our break in NYC the real American Italian experience. Thankyou so very much!!!

Great NYC Experience

By kek7710 |

What a great NYC experience. The waiters and the staff were excellent becuase they really cared about your dining experience. Ellio and his Son, Ben took care of us like we were family. They go out of their way to give you the little extras that most NY restaurant forget about in today's rushed world. We loved this place so much we returned the next night for another dinner experience..... I had the pasta the first night and the Sea Bass the second evening. Both were excellent. My wife had the Seafood Resotta and the Branzino Fish.... She love both meals. We will retun again on our next visit to NYC

Disappointing - would not recommend

By Nicholas L |

Amazing pasta, but very very poor service, and 2 desserts weren't fit to be served anywhere, and nor did the wait staff respond with service recovery, will not return.

Great food, friendly staff

By Mayoite658 |

Walked into Allora with a friend for a quick drink. The wait staff was super friendly and made us feel quickly right at home. A lot of their customers seemed to know them by name - they clearly have a very loyal clientele. We decided to stay for dinner. What a great decision. Again the service was super and very friendly. Frankie was at our table and did a great job. He got me a special rack of lamb. Absolutely delicious. We are coming back again.

Great family owned business

By Paul R |

I eat here once on every trip to NYC. Never a bad meal. Bolognese is fantastic. Ownership is very friendly.

Don’t miss this place.

By MattySpindel |

Three days off in NY. Allora is not to be missed. We all agree. Some of the best Italian food we’ve ever had. Appetizers, Entrees, Desserts, all outstanding.

Excellent

By Grace K |

Food was amazing here, the bolognese so different than the typical places we have been. Great wine, and really great service. We will be back for sure.

Inconsistent with good potential.

By MLXV |

I support one of the reviews below describing the poor breakfast experience. I had a chance to try it over 2 different days, and went from 'very good' to 'terrible' overnight (ordered the same selection, so comparing like-for-like). In order to be charging what they are, they need to step up their game, mainly in terms of consistency of offerings, availability of ingredients, food preparation + presentation. Some serious issues there... which is a real shame, as the venue has some strong potential.

Portions are very small

By Love2Travel |

We were in the city celebrating my birthday weekend. Betim (Ben) both greeted us and sat us at a table on the back patio (somewhat enclosed). It was beautiful. Betim was very personable. He’s a perfect fit for what he does. We ordered our drinks then the Clams Oreganato. The clams were the smallest ones I’ve ever had. No bigger than a nickel. So disappointing. I ordered the lobster risotto. My husband the stuffed veal chop. His portion was incredible. My lobster left a lot to be desired, literally. I’ve had shrimp larger. Disappointing. Then the dessert cart came around. I really desired a piece of cheesecake. None. How can an Italian restaurant not have cheesecake? Disappointing. Again, as it was my birthday, I didn’t want my husband to feel bad. Complimentary limonello after dinner drinks were provided to us. The bill came to $173. For what?

Intimate space with very good food

By ohara5150 |

This space is quite small, but has the old-world Italian feel. White tablecloths, formal but personable servers.... The food we had was very good, especially the seafood saffron risotto, the wild mushroom cream sauce with fettuccini, and the bolognese sauce with fettuccine. And the homemade limoncello was so yummy!!! Make sure they chill it for you.

Hyped by Wyndham, Doesn't Quite Deliver

By balsamwalker |

Canned artichokes accompanied by mushrooms and foul-tasting black olives and capers were a huge and expensive disappointment. Lobster bisque had no chunks of lobster--tasty, but no meat. Ribeye excellent. Appetizer of blistered peppers were HOT. WE WERE NOT WARNED. Benny was sometimes nice, but sometimes not. VERY LOUD venue. Impossible to carry on a conversation. Won't return. Maybe an off night?

Nothing short of phenomenal

By Matt P |

My friends and I came here for a nice night filled with food and great company, and Allora did not disappoint! We were immediately greeted at the door by the owner Elio and escorted to a gorgeous spacious comfortable table. We started with the prosciutto and burrata salad and were absolutely blown away! This restaurant is a must, it’s a gem tucked away in the streets of New York City! From the decor, ambience to the food and service everything blow our minds. We made a reservation to come back for my friends birthday in two weeks! This is a must go to for authentic Italian cuisine and hospitality done the right way!

Service not up to fine-dining expectations

By nic16305 |

My husband chose this restaurant for our first night back in NYC for a special holiday weekend away. The location was near our hotel and the ambiance when you walk in was lovely. We sat in a booth and at first appearance, with the servers in fine dress, we had a great first impression. Sadly, we were disappointed. The bread that was offered was stale and the cocktails were made incorrectly even though they were uncomplicated; I had a cosmo and my husband had a manhattan. The rest of our meal was delicious outside of the appetizer; I had a chicken dish and my husband had veal. Our big complaint really was the service. No one introduced themselves to us when we sat down and our main server was a very pushy young man who spoke too quickly to understand. This seemed to be purposeful, because every time we hesitated, he would say "I'll take that as a yes" and would start writing it down on our order. Talk about an upsell! We had to stop him more than once from adding to our bill. Comically, after taking our order, we never saw him again except when he noticed that a side dish he pushed us into ordering had never arrived. No one checked on us or asked how our entrees were, so we asked for the check with our dinner plates still in front of us on the table. Upon paying our bill and walking to the front door, our waiter suddenly appeared behind us and asked if we "surely" wanted dessert - while we had our coats on! With all of the options in the city, we would encourage you to find another spot to eat (despite the nod to the chef) given the service and attention you SHOULD experience with an expensive, fine-dining meal.

Awesome Food, Service and Drinks!

By Kathywe24 |

If you are looking for quality food, drinks and service, this is the restaurant to visit. The bolognese sauce was delicious and very fresh tasting. The after dinner complimentary homemade digestifs are amazing. The limoncello was my favorite and looking forward to my next visit.

Average

By Mus V |

I went here for dinner on a Wednesday night and only a couple of Customers were in. The restaurant looks modern and neat and a lot of white is used in the decoration. I had the salmon which was good but then again I guess grilled salmon is hard to mess up. Service was poor, even though there were not many customers it took a while before I got the menu and when I got the menu the waiter started to vomit his standard list of specialties; he talked so fast that it was impossible to follow anyway so I focused on the menu. After the fish I asked for the check but got cheesecake instead...after sending back the cake I finally got the check. I think two important moments to make a restaurant customer friendly is a nice, warm and welcoming personnel when you enter a place and second is a warm thank you and goodbye when you leave. When I stood up and was leaving the whole staff was more interested in a lady in a miniskirt who was also in the restaurant passing by then saying goodbye to me. So for me this is an average Italian restaurant with far better alternatives closeby.

BEWARE of service & price

By Joaner1 |

Great food but Wyndham also sent us . Waiter Brought us complimentary bread & marinated peppers - very nice , but then proceeded to remove the peppers from our table before we were able to finish them (like they were taking them to give to someone else ??? After we had handled them ) there were disappointed vegetarians at our table :( We were never given a menu w prices . Our fault for not asking - they just listed twice to us verbally what was available . Ordered an appetizer & they brought one for each of us ! Cha Ching - we each had a Caesar salad which was a wheeled cart performance at our table , the 4 of us each had a pasta entree (very tasty ) & shared 1 bottle of wine -when we asked for check they brought our $446 bill -But it was not itemized!!! Again our fault we should have asked for an itemized bill . I’m sure my sister tipped on top of all that - now after reading review before I’m sure they charged us the 30% gratuity so they prob got tipped twice . Bummer our fault for not demanding menu w price or itemized bill . Pretty sure they saw us blonde Midwest tourists coming . Good food , nice place , just be smarter than us & ask for prices ahead of time & watch your itemized bill before tipping .

ALLORA Does Not Care !!

By Winifred D |

We were recommended this very "elite" Restaurant by my Hotel Wyndham .We were a family of 4 persons looking out to enjoying a good meal .Little did I know that this experience at Allora Ristorante would leave a bitter taste in my mouth .The food is very mediocre .This is the most overpriced dining experience I have ever had. We asked for flat(tap) water and were charged $ 18 for tap water !!! There are a lot of hidden charges which suddenly pop up in your bill if one is not very careful .And to top it all there is a mandatory 30% tip which is automatically added to your bill. Very shady practices indeed!!!This restaurant is a SCAM .They overcharged my card and have still not reversed the refund due to me..Please be very careful

Outstanding Italian cuisine!

By Luv2G0 |

Not only is this quite excellent Italian cuisine, but I also had one of the best steaks ever--nicely seared ribeye, seasoned to perfection! The lobster ravioli was amazing, as was the daily special pan-seared sea bass. Great cocktails and wine selection also. This is seriously good eating!!

Great food Amazing Service

By hilsman |

I really enjoyed the classic food that was served. I had perhaps the best steak I have ever had The grappa after dinner was a nice touch

PERFECTION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to SAY THANK YOU to the staff and the chef!!!!!!!! I am obsessed with clams! They steamed them to perfection! The waiter was AMAZING! His wine suggestions were amazing! The Barolo which is my favorite was fresh and amazing!!!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!

Quaint Restaurant

We ate here for breakfast two days in a row. The service was great and the food was delicious. The prices were reasonable, too. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Lovely Breakfast

By jfarmeribm |

The four of us had breakfast this morning at Allora. Excellent service, nice food. Everything we saw that came out of the kitchen looked great

Excellent resaurant, great food!

By Tj |

My son's birthday happened on this great and very friendly restaurant! After the waiter explained on details(loved that) we all went for specials of the day and we've had al different choices. What can I say, I had a very nicely cooked fish and I loved it. But my younger son was the lucky one as he had veal parmigiana. I tried a piece and it was really great. My wife choose to have lamb...what can i say?...delicious. I suggest visiting this place. You'll be very satisfied and happy.

Favorite in the city

Great Breakfast!

By Tim B |

Allora is next to The Bemic Hotel( where we stayed). We enjoyed after dinner drinks and breakfast the next day. The service was absolutely incredible and our breakfast was delicious. The drinks and bartender were also fabulous!

Very good food, great service

By thetrueguv |

Staying in the Bernic Hotel and not wanting to brave the very cold streets having thawed out from a day’s sightseeing we wandered downstairs for dinner. The food was very good, the service team friendly, amusing and efficient. The complementary grappa was a nice touch. Left feeling we had had a decent meal but had paid slightly more than it was worth.

Intimate high end Italian near Grand Central

By avocat_7 |

I needed a place that could accommodate nine people on a Saturday night, ideally close to the Grand Central area where we were staying. Though not a large venue, Allora did a wonderful job making everyone at our large table feel that they were being individually served. The food was pricey, but there are lots of places in NYC which charge similar prices for much less wonderful meals. I particularly note the lamb chop entree. Rib chops are usually quite flavorful but frequently there are very few and so not much to eat. My lamb dinner was substantial and beautifully prepared.

Great!

By anastasia0484 |

Great Italian food and great friendly staff! Breakfast menu is very nice as well. Definitely highly recommend!

Best Italian in the City

By Devin D |

It was our first time at Allora and we were pleasantly surprised. The handmade pasta was fantastic as well as the wine selection. Our waitor Fadil Morina was very friendly and made the visit memorable. He made sure our visit was top notch. We will definitely be back in the future!

Best Service ever....

By Tufdan |

We happened upon this new place while walking among many many choices. We couldn't have been happier. Very friendly, accommodating. The food was wonderful and plentiful. Many offers of extras on the house too! We took the bottle of wine that they placed on the table when seated. We had appetizers, entree, dessert, after dinner drinks.......Less than $200!

Best Meal of Our New York Visit

By David S |

We had our best meal and dining experience so far in NYC. Food was quick and delicious, service was attentive and friendly even though they were at capacity, and the atmosphere was loud and vibrant. Veal was spectacular. Chicken parmigiana was likely the best I have had. No fewer than three of the staff shook my hand and wished me well on the way out. I will be back.

Classic, old-school Italian but with a modern edge

By EurasianFille |

Had dinner with a colleague at Allora, primarily because it was next to our hotel. It surpassed all expectations. The menu is classic, nothing innovative, and everything we ate was extremely well-executed. Pulpo was one of the specials, and it was grilled to perfection. When I asked about the risotto, our waiter suggested a saffron risotto frutti di mare that was not on the menu, and was delicious. We passed on the desserts but I couldn't pass on the grappa cart--of the six selections, I had the fig grappa. Outstanding. If you can sit at one of Frank's tables, please do--he alone is worth a visit!

When Service Elevates a Meal

By Zach S |

On a cold Friday night, my wife and I happened upon Allora without a reservation. After having been turned away from several nearby places, the greeter warmly welcomed us in and told us he would "take care of us". The restaurant was packed with people, but after waiting at the bar for 20 or so minutes, they managed to squeeze us in. The food was excellent here, but what really elevated our experience was the fantastic service. All of the staff seemed to be enjoying themselves. They were constantly chatting with customers, and giving off the feeling of a loving, family restaurant. My wife and I felt very welcomed and enjoyed our meal immensely. This ended up being one of our most pleasant meals during our NYC visit.

I wandered in with two friends

By betim gjonbalaj |

I wandered in with two friends on Friday night, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of baking Bronzino. The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 7:00 pm) but we managed to snag a table. Our waiter Benny was funny and very professional. We had a great time. I can’t wait to bring my family here.

Fantastic food, incredible service

By Duncan O |

This is a restaurant that treats you well. From the general manager to the waiter simply in charge of refilling your water, everyone wants to make sure you have a great meal. The food is so tasty and often made right in front of you. It was my girlfriend's birthday at the time of the event and the staff made it a really fun, special experience.

Allora.. Italian for Great Dinner

By TheClarksburger |

I cannot recommend another restaurant more highly. Allora has tremendous food, the most fantastic service, and a family atmosphere that is second to none. I had Parmesan cheese appetizer, prosciutto melon and buratta, and the lamb chops. After dinner we had the best grappa and canolis you could imagine. Fradil Morina was our server and he made us feel like old friends. You HAVE to have this dinner.

Amazing

By Laurel F |

From the moment we walked in to the moment we were leaving the staff made us feel like family. We were given bread & same small plate app's that were really good. I went with my husband, we both ordered a special. He a rib eye, I had a lemon chicken that was amazing!!!! We spit a dessert & were given a limoncello as well as a grappa that was also really good. Thank you so much Fadil

The Good Outweighed The Bad

By W C |

We were seated on the outdoor terrace; a very pleasant courtyard surrounded by skyscrapers on each side. The sounds of the city could be heard, but were muffled a bit. In general it was a nice space to decompress after the long workday. (Need to water the plants though) Very impressive was the complimentary antipasti brought to the table just after being seated. It included peppers, cheese, salami (made in house possibly), and deep fried zucchini (I think it was zucchini). It was so well done I thought perhaps it was an item they charged for that was delivered to the wrong table. The good news is that I was wrong about that. For dinner I ordered the Veal Scaloppini. Immediately the very personable and thick accented maître d’ rattled off something. All I made out was the word medallions. I shook my head in agreement and off he went. What I ordered was $32.00. What I got cost $41.50. To be honest, the medallions were sized and shaped more like a beef fillet. They were cooked perfectly and the marsala sauce was like none other. So while the upgrade was handled hastily, it was indeed worth the extra money as the veal was perfect. I really don’t think he was misleading me and instead steering me toward something I would really like. If there was a big disappointment, it was the Caesar Salad I ordered to precede dinner. The menu on Open Table app promised that the salad would be prepared tableside. Any Caesar aficionado knows that the days of tableside Caesars are pretty much long gone – mostly because of the raw egg required to make the dressing. (Honestly – I don’t know what the actual menu handed to me said, I just depended on the online Open Table version.) Raw egg or not, I was in, but what came to the table was the same old refrigerated plate with lettuce and a dressing that likely started the day in a big plastic jug. That was a bit of a letdown. The salad was okay at best; would fit right in at the Long Horn Steakhouse. Luckily – that was the end of poor quality. One thing about New York is that the folks who work in fine dining WORK in fine dining. It is their craft; their vocation. Other cities have a few such professionals, but not like NYC. The folks at Allora do make the grade in that respect. Overall, their service standards, a subtle sense of humor, reasonable pricing, and well prepared food certainly put them in the “recommended” column. So yes, you should go to Allora. There’s an excellent chance you will have a great experience.

After our first meal we made reservations to dine again the next night in NYC.

Our waiter John is very professional and friendly. He even suggested a less expensive bottle of wine from what I had chosen. And we were not disappointed. My wife had the salmon and I ordered the special ravioli with Kobe beef and red wine reduction. It was delicious. The portions are quite large. The ambiance is warm and cozy.

Dinner that exceeds Italy

By daddyt52 |

My wife and I spent three weeks in June in Italy. We were overwhelmed with the excellent food that we enjoyed everyday in Italy. This evening we experienced an Italian dinner in New York City that was as good if not better than Italy. It’s a small restaurant that gives you a warm family feeling. Everyone of the staff was extremely pleasant, smiling and engaging. Our waiter, Jimmy was the conductor of a symphony of excellent dining experiences. The initial course was cheese and thinly sliced pepperoni, peppers and Italian bread. Jimmy presented the specials and answered all of our questions. My wife ordered the Chicken Parmesan. The dish included three chicken breasts that were pounded and lightly breaded with Parmesan cheese and lemon that melted in your mouth. My choice was Chilean Sea Bass that was one of the best Sea Bass dishes I have eaten. It was lightly pan fried and a generous portion. Dessert was homemade Chocolate Temptation that was a great ending to a wonderful dining experience. To cap the evening, Jimmy brought homemade lemoncello that was better than the Italian version. If you’re looking for a wonderful Italian experience for a reasonable price, then Allora is the our recommendation.

Amazing times

I was a little skeptical about going, but we ended up having a great time. I had the branziono, my husband had the chicken. Elios was really helpful. So we would go back.

Entertainment before going to the theater

By Itsveryrunny |

The food was good, the waiters' quips and chit chat, a pleasant bonus. We ate before going to see Kevin Kline; these guys put us in the mood. Our waiter's line, no doubt well used, was, "Dere are two places in da world dat begin wid 'da.' One is da Bronx, what's de udder one?" The answer's "Da Vatican."

Terrible service and bad food

By Rainer G |

Not recommendable. Main dishes for 2 people were were served 10 min apart, dessert was not served b/c they were suddenly out of vanilla icecream, 20+% tip was already included on the check along with an additional tip line and the restaurant manager commanded his serverswith a loud voice in front of our table about seating arrangement for a party later that day. Worst dining experience that we had in 10 years in NYC.

Fairly new but great potential

By John C |

Went early on a Sunday evening and the space never filled up. I don't think people know it's there yet, but when they do it will be packed. Food was great and the service even better. We all had different seafoods - all first rate; and obscene desserts - especially their variation on tartufo. Can't wait to go back and explore the menu in greater detail.

EXCELLENT! Spettacolare

By Sherpa259749 |

Superb service from our main man Franco (Fadil Morina) and an excellent meal. The grappa bar was like none other. 100% A++ 👍👌💯🥇🇮🇹

Average with pretensions

By Evan |

The food was tasty, but nowhere near what the price would suggest, and certainly not authentic Italian. The dessert was nicely presented, but straight out the supermarket's frozen section. The staff... smartly dressed, not much else. Overall just average, even if it tries not to be.

Good food and good service!

By Claudia C |

Somewhat pricey Italian food but with unique touches. We had an appetizer of 36 foot long bucatini with a veal Bolognese sauce and plenty of tiny meatballs ($55). It took 2 waiters to serve it- one to scoop the pasta and the other to cut it with a pair of scissors!! Delicioso!! The clams oreganata appetizer ($18) featured 6 small clams with a tasty breadcrumb stuffing. The antipasto caldo featured a barely scorched chunk of radicchio, a small endive, 2 thinly sliced and grilled zucchini and carrots, a small piece of burruta cheese and 1 thin slice of prosciutto ($16). Shrimp scampi (6 medium sized) were in a tasty brown sauce but no accompaniments. The red snapper was excellent. We tasted the key lime cake (not impressed) and the crème brulee Excellent! We were there on a Sunday afternoon before the theater and the place was almost empty. The waiter was very attentive.

A Touch of Elegance

What a find! Terrific food, excellent drinks, lovely ambience and great service made for a wonderfully memorable dining experience.

Great Italian Restaurant

By Beth |

Wonderful, friendly staff that is very attentive, and the food is excellent. They also have a well stocked bar and wine list. This is a restaurant that we sought out having eaten there during our last visit to NYC.

Best Italian Food we had outside of Italy

By Bora E |

We had a great dining experience at this restaurant the night before Thanksgiving with family and friends. We started with a shared appetizer plate including grilled calamari and octopus, prosciutto, cheese and melon. For main course we tried grilled Bronzino, lobster stuffed ravioli, veal chops, and spaghetti with meatballs. Everything we ate was excellent. Great wine list as well. We finished the meal with desert and homemade Grappa with soaked raisins. We will definitely come back here.

Fawlty Towers Italian style -- but good

By Aitele |

The pasta was better than most and the risotto above average. Dessert cart with fermented fruit mixed with grappa well worth the wait. Watching the staff avoiding collisions to and fro the kitchen was a humorous, free, floor show. Despite its resemblance to an Italian Fawlty Towers, I would return - if they survive.

Not safe for Covid, poor service and mediocre food

By Irishlass54 |

No one checked for our vaccine cards. Host and wait staff all unmasked. We considered leaving but we’re hungry. We were seated and ignored for 10 minutes w That was the theme on their service. Finally host came over to see what we ordered and we told him we were awaiting menus. Waiter gave a sing song recitation of specials that was unintelligible Then host came over and repeated it and we finally got to order. I ordered lemon drop martini as previous reviewers suggested and it was nothing special. Carpaccio was very good. I ordered house specialty 30’ long thin tube pasta with meatballs and sauce. Pasta a bit too al dente but tasty. Unfortunately mini meatballs nothing special. Veal Marsala had overcooked veal but mushrooms and sauce tasty. We had to ask for complimentary lemoncello that was okay. The acoustics were terrible. I could barely hear my dining companion over noise from other diners and loud waiters who seemed to be shouting in faux Italian accents. It was hard to hold a conversation over the noise. Again poor service and mediocre food means we will never return coupled with feeling unsafe as they failed to check for vaccinations I expected more from a restaurant marketing itself as upscale. It seems that if you were a regular customer you got more attention and if not like us you were ignored

Pricey Italian and not sure why

By Dad527 |

Expensive mid town Italian with average food and very good service. Narrow dining room opens to nice patio outside. Had table made caesar salad that was average at best and table made branzino that was good fish but over sauced. Side of broccoli rabe must have been pre made and watery. There are much better Italian choices in Manhattan.

Rude hostess

By Thao L |

The hostess is super rude and unprofessional. Despite having made a reservation through the Neon Coat app on Wed 24th, my friend and I got rejected upon arrival. What made the situation intolerable was the rude and unprofessional conduct of the hostess. She not only failed to accommodate us but also used inappropriate language and raised her voice in an unacceptable manner. Such behavior is utterly unacceptable and tarnishes the reputation of a high end restaurant.

Reasonable food, terrible service

By Brian A |

The food was ok when it eventually arrived, although at least one meal was not as described on the menu. Staff were the most unfriendly I've come across for a long time - even "Hello" seemed to be difficult for them! The room was warm and comfortable, and the price reasonable for a restaurant of this kind, but the uncommunicative staff put us off coming again, even though we were staying in the Bernic which is immediately beside Allora.

Spetacular!

By MariMicheti |

First off all, the staff is so friendly and nice. Food is GREAT as well. We asked for appetizer prosciutto with melon & burrata chease, and it was AMAZING! Then we also asked for the fish of the and the linguini with seafood. Spectacular!

Not my style

By Willem K |

I was doubting quite a bit between 3 and 4 stars, but went with 3 because of the prices, and hence the quality/experience-price ratio. The waiters obviously know what they are doing, but they are curt, as if they are in Rome. I didn't like that behavior in Rome, definitely not outside it. Few words, and they give you the feeling you should be lucky to be there. He asked for cocktails, we said "no thanks", after which he looked at us incredulously asking, "really?". Same with the food ordering - I wasn't ready at all, yet he kept standing looking over my shoulder. I had wanted to ask my guest's opinion, but he broke into the conversation, "I can answer questions". The food itself was OK. We had scallops and zucchini for starters, and lobster ravioli as a main. I guess in true Italian fashion we might have had to order more, but besides dessert we weren't planning on doing too many courses. The result was that I went to bed hungry despite spending ~75$ per person. The food was indeed OK, but nothing special for as far as I could detect. Finally, the décor of the place is so-so too. Very simple, blank walls, no paintings or anything (which by itself is not automatically a bad thing).

Outstanding service and good food

By Aeskulap1 |

Very nice decor, excellent, friendly and professional service and good food. Us 10 friends had dinner at this cute retaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. There is a nice patio outside. After measl we got a free drink.

Good but pricier than expected

By Oskar R |

Went there with colleagues for a work dinner - good service, good room, good food. Was pricier than expected - lowest price red wine was triple digits, total bill was >$200 person for the six of us with two bottles of $110 wine. Not really my expectation for a restaurant ostensibly marked $$-$$$.

Very accommodating..great food,best tiramisu ever

By europeantraveler1953 |

We stopped in desperate to find descent place to eat Christmas Day without reservations...place was packed,manager..maybe the owner, put us in small table for two..appreciated that.we ordered and larger table opened up he brought us there..food was excellent, desert was best tiramisu I’ve ever had..service was perfect..you can tell these people care..management was on it.. thank you for great Christmas dinner..

Allora East side

By anj |

Amazing !!! It was the best veal Parmesan even though my neighbours ate it .. I had the rigatoni it was great and a Ben was amAzing ! Service was amazing ! I met Amanda, Barbara, Dimitri and Jesse who were great. We all had a great meal and good wine ~ definitely recommend this place for everyone looking on the east side !!

OUTSTANDING!!

By starfighter56 |

We had a brilliant lunch at Allora yesterday, I was there with my son and a business collegue based in NYC. Terrific service, my fish was outstanding, can’t wait to visit Allora when next in New York. I had the Baby Kale Sallad to start with, ordered a pasta as a side dish with the fish. The three of us really enjoyed our meal. Very attentive service. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Fancy, delicious, noisy

By Abdel-Rahman Ghandour |

Got there by chance. Got a nice table. Waiters in bow tie and all. What first appeared as a quiet, cozy place, turned out to be quite noisy. But we got a nice table and the food, especially the specials were exquisite. Try the Longo, extra long spaghetti style pasta with meatballs, which they then cut with scissors in front of you and the ravioli with squid ink. The ravioli especially were out of this world. But the Italian waiter exploded my wine glass with his gesticulation in describing the specials. And I got a piece of glass on my forehead!!! Freaky and scary. Nevertheless, a good experience all in all. Chocolate mousse in desert was just right too. All meals come with a complimentary charcuterie appetizer and Italian liqueur at the end.

Great food

By mbatc |

Food was awesome! We went for breakfast, the French toast was fabulous! My dad had the Benedict and he said it was delicious. Presentation was great, manager was really friendly. They do already add gratuity into the check, so that is something to pay attention to because I didn't see it on the menu and the server didn't bring it to my attention either!

Good breakfast restaurant

By pieterbruegel |

Good breakfast restaurant. Food reasonably priced for midtown. Friendly servers. Good brewed coffee. Can get busy during morning hours.

Nice Restaurant

By Gail G |

We had an early dinner here and the food was absolutely delicious. The waiters were helpflul and very attentive. Would ear here again.

Delicious

By NBB |

We had an amazing meal at Allora. Fadil, Morina and Alex were very friendly and welcoming. We had then 30 ft pasta and meatball - the waiter comes and cuts it up for you at the table. It was delicious. They gave us complimentary starters and limoncelllo to finish too!

Excellent Food - Very Pricey

By Luv222Travel |

We sooo enjoyed the food here! I'm just annoyed that I won't be able to eat here more often due to the prices! ($24 for a HALF portion of pasta is a lot!) But, if you are on an expense account and can afford it, by all means, do not hesitate to eat here. It is a tiny space, but will definitely open up more now that winter is over - they'll have a spectacular back patio that will open up, as well as a rooftop bar at the hotel it is located in. Food-wise, for appetizers, we really enjoyed the grilled octopus and the tableside-made Caesar salad. For dinner, we split that 1/2 portion of risotto first, then I had the Branzino which was absolutely delicious, large and worth the $50 price. My partner had a pasta with langoustines which was also fantastic. The only thing that was a slight turnoff was all of the floating carts they were pushing around the tiny space. There was the cart for the Table-side Caesar, the cart to finish off the fish and then fillet, the cart with all of the homemade flavored grappas, and I believe one more. There was a time when a bunch were out at once and it made it a bit chaotic. Carts had to constantly be shuffled around to let waiters and guests pass. The owner (?) is a bit over-the-top with his "you better believe it" schtick, but that said, bottom line, the food is damn good and I would go again!

Delicious, albeit pricey, dinner

By the_3_adventurers |

We had a very elegant dinner at Allora, thoroughly enjoying the friendly waitstaff. The marinated Italian peppers that come with the prix fixe dinner are delicious but occasionally bite you back ... they're spicy! At the end of our meal, we enjoyed the homemade grappa (limoncello for me, fig for my husband), and extraordinary lemon sorbet. Delicious food, but a little pricey.

Top notch food, service & atmosphere

By awdsnends |

We heard that the owner of Antica on Stone Street (and formerly Ancora on stone St) opened a new restaurant and decided to check it out this weekend. It's a smaller sized restaurant but the food & service was second to none. Rivals any top restaurant in the city - but this has the feeling that you are at a friends house. From the moment you sit down, you receive the house made salamis, roasted peppers, cheeses, fresh bread. We split the grilled vegetable & prosciutto antipasti- smelled great, tasted great. Grilled carrot, red cabbage, artichoke, red onions, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto. Perfect starter. Wife had a chicken dish - fresh, perfectly seasoned. Our friend had the gnocchi. She's vegetarian and was very happy with it. I tried it and tasted great. I had the veal chop parm - literally pounded & tenderized - as big as the plate / small pizza size. Tender, sauce great, smothered in cheese. Dessert - house made sautéed strawberries & ice cream made tableside - I believe this is given to all guests. Also shared the puffed creme pastries & chocolate cake. Don't forget the homemade grappa. Absolutely worth a stop & make a reservation. I noticed they had a small bar area too where you may find a spot to grab drinks & apps. Will be back again. Thank you.

Excellent food on the patio

By shamac961 |

We enjoyed great mussels and pasta Bolognese on the serene patio. The restaurant served complementary cheese and salami.

Excellent Meal with Some Unique Food Items.

By adamrca |

We had a great time eating at Allora. My daughter found it on Instagram and was intrigued with the 30 foot pasta that they cut with scissors in front of you. The service was very good. They start you out with a plate of salami, excellent cheese, and spicy roasted peppers. We ordered the Caesar salad prepared table side. There were four of us so we split two orders which was a nice size. One of my daughters order the 30 foot pasta which is not on the menu, but available. It is usually for two people, so they gave her a half order of 15 feet. Otherwise we stuck to chicken, pasta and risotto. All of which were delicious. We skipped dessert as we had to catch a train, but the dessert cart looked excellent. We did get to see the after dinner drink cart which had homemade Italian liqueurs in giant jars filled with fruit. I sampled one which was quite tasty. All in all this was a very nice experience. The food was great and I would recommend Allora. You could certainly walk out of there with a hefty bill if you go all out. We stuck to salad and pasta and chicken dishes and it was very reasonable for what you got.

Decent choice if in the neighborhood

By tracyb839 |

Very attentive staff. Service was good. Complimentary apps were fantastic and appreciated. The tableside caesar salad was great except they didn’t do it at our table because of space issues. Entrees were okay could have been better and more flavorful. Pasta was a bit chewy and and we never got told the specials. Could have had more of a selection of interesting desserts, boring and traditional is not my favorite.

Yes yes yes

By JustMeOnlyMeForever |

Wonderful restaurant from start to finish. Greats you with a small tasteful anti pasta to say hello. Waiters right out of a Felini movie. Excellent service food and presentation. Darling atmosphere more formal than the price. Homemade liquors! Exactly what you want from a NYC restaurant at a very affordable price.

One of the best dining experiences in the city

By RussP34 |

Amazing food, service and overall experience. Felt like family from the moment we were greeted at the door. Can not recommend this restaurant enough, you will not be disappointed ! You must get the Maccheroni 30ft long pasta dish, one of the very best pasta dishes we ever had !

Loved it!!

By Augie1966 |

I stayed at the Marriott East side and had a very short walk to the restaurant. We started with the scallops and also Mellon/buffalo mozzarella/prosciutto - both of which were incredible. We followed this with the best rib eye I have had in a very long time. Service was excellent and the bourbon pours did not leave a lot of room for anything but ice - exactly the way I like it. I will definitely go back.

If you’re in NYC don’t miss this place

By erica_k_a |

The food was incredible!! But the service is what makes the difference!! Out waiter Mr. Fadil Motrina, went the extra mile to make sure that everything was perfect! Also got us some complementary wine and lemoncello! We absolutely loved it and will for sure come back Thank you Allora and Mr. Motrina to make birthday unforgettable!

Great people and even better food!

An amazing experience eating at this gem. the Italian food was simply fantastic and the wait staff were great! I highly recommend this place!

Decent breakfast

Had breakfast here while staying in the attached hotel. Good food and service but not sure that I would go here if I was not staying in the hotel.

Amazing experience start to finish!

By cjsmithnj |

Our experience at Allora was amazing from start to finish. If you’re looking for an amazing meal in beautiful surroundings with excellent service you found the right spot. The food was amazing. A seafood trio starter was beautiful and delicious. A large sea scallop in a red sauce, a perfect piece of lightly grilled octopus and a perfectly cooked serving of squid. All delicious and served with a beautiful presentation. The lobster ravioli, seafood ravioli in squid ink pasta, and a Waygu beef ravioli were all amazing. Sea bass to die for, tuna steak prepared perfectly and a beautiful cut of high quality tuna, chicken Parmesan was huge and delicious. Dessert looked amazing but we were all way to full to even attempt it. I’ll save room for next time. Wine list has something for everyone. Our server selected a bottle that complimented our meal wonderfully- and it was a varietal that I am not familiar with and would never normally picked. I’m glad he did. The service is EXCELLENT! Servers have a extensive knowledge of the menu, wines and preparation. There is quite a bit of table-side preparation and all the staff does it masterfully- truly a dying art in service. The servers and staff are also engaging while never overbearing. We never felt smothered but never had to ask for simple things. I never had less than a half glass of water and my wine was never empty. The decor was upscale but not over the top, galley style bar in the front was comfortable for a drink before dinner. We visited in October and there were still people eating outside, they have a patio and other outside seating. Allora also serves breakfast and lunch so read other reviews carefully, we had breakfast two days and had a great experience. Excellent, strong dark roast coffee, fresh pastry, excellent egg sandwich and amazing fresh orange juice. I would recommend Allora without hesitation. It’s now soundly in our NY rotation and I can’t wait to go back.

Nothing Special

By DGH4561 |

This restaurant was close to the hotel we were staying at and we decided to drop by for desert and tea one evening. The atmosphere seemed quaint and so we decided to stop in. Even though there were tables available, we were seated at the bar. The service was indifferent. The deserts were incredibly bland and we were charged $40 for desert and tea. So not worth it.

One star is too many

By Robert R |

As a native New Yorker I am used to loud restaurants however I am not used to a party of 24 being seated in a high-end restaurant getting drunk and literally screaming and yelling for two hours. Multiple tables complained to the manager who refused to do anything. We could not hear each other talk and finally gave up and just sat there. Food was ok ,but overpriced, staff was awful and I would never go back

Fantastic!

By TravelJunkie01960 |

My group arrived at Allora for our 8pm reservation and we were seated right away. While walking to our table I noticed how impeccably dressed the staff was and how friendly they were as any one passing you made it a point to say hello. Once we were seated our drink order was taken right away and then came a rush of complimentary food to nibble on; peppers, zucchini, bread, and salami and cheese, all of which was delicious. After we were given some time to enjoy our first bites, our waiter came over to discuss the specials and take our order. We chose the prosciutto, melon, and buratta and the scallops for appetizers. My husband got the t-bone steak and the two people we were with got a chicken dish. I opted to get their special plate of pasta and meatballs; a 30ft long homemade noodle with mini meatballs. It's a bit of a show when they bring it out but I was into it and it was the whole reason I wanted to go. I'm happy to report that every single thing we ate was incredibly delicious; even the meatballs (anyone who has ever ready my reviews before knows I come from an Italian family and can be very picky about meatballs, as most Italians are but these were delicious). The homemade, complimentary grappa at the end of the meal doesn't hurt either though you may not need another drink for the rest of the night :) However, while the food was fantastic, it's the service here that steals the show. At every moment, you are being catered to by the excellent staff. They are professional and friendly. They are knowledgeable about the food and beverages they are serving. They are quick and attentive. They work with one another to ensure every guest has everything they need at all times. You will never wait or want for anything at this restaurant as they continuously check on you. And when it's time to leave, they shake everyone's hands and offer a hug and kiss like you were just at Sunday dinner with family. Thank you Allora for a wonderful evening! I'll be back every time I'm in NYC.

Loved Allora

By Jacquelyn K |

This is the kind of cozy, unpretentious restaurant you do not expect to find in midtown -- and we LOVED it. Food was absolutely fantastic, service great, and we were fortunate enough to be on the outside patio on an absolutely perfect New York City night. We can't wait to go back. (And yes, the 30 foot pasta is amazing!)

Great Tuscan restaurant

By Matt S |

Found this lovely restaurant off by chance, but we were not disappointed. Very welcoming, relaxed and calming ambience. Good selection of Tuscan dishes, cooked extremely well. Some meat dishes are personally finished and flambé at your table by the owner. Very nice and personal touch. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Hidden Gem in Midtown NYC

By Bob M |

Italian is my favorite and Allora did not let me down. I visited on a Monday night around 6:30PM without a reservation. I waited maybe 10 minutes before I was seated. This is not a large restaurant maybe 15-20 tables, with a small bar. The décor is contemporary which matches the buildings overall tone. There is a nice outdoor seating area which looks like it can accommodate small parties or optional eating as weather permits. My dinner was excellent. I had Rigatoni Bolognese. Pasta was cooked the way I like and the red sauce was light to the palate and a great taste. Service was very good by the server and other staff. Drink were refilled without request and plates cleared in a timely manner. All were courteous and friend though sometimes hard to understand. Highly recommended.

Best Ravioli

Disappointed and annoyed

By srpaul124 |

Our friends who live in the neighborhood recommended this restaurant, so the four of us went for dinner. We arrived on time for our 6:30 reservation. The place looked cozy and attractive at first glance. Lots of wait staff attending to guests. However, we got impatient waiting for our table. We stood in line in the very narrow bar area for 20 minutes. More guests arrived behind us till we felt packed in. Finally our table was ready. The pace of the dinner was good. Waiters were relatively attentive in this very busy atmosphere. The food was good, but honestly, nothing to write home about. Our bill was $268. Way overpriced for the amount of food we ordered. Watch out for the specials. Make sure you ask how much they cost. Two of us ordered the octopus appetizer. Turned out each was $25 for a tiny portion of octopus with some veggies. The entrees come with nothing else. I had a plate of veal scalopinni with mushrooms and a too think marsala sauce. Just a plate of brown. Can you throw in a green veggie or potato? When it was time to decide about dessert, the maitre d' came over and offered us complimentary drinks from the bar and dessert and coffee. We didn't get any after dinner drinks. We stayed at our table and a plate of 3 desserts was served along with our coffees. Turns out we were charged for everything. He was trying to buy us out of our table. We were supposed to vacate our table and have dessert at the bar, which was so deep with people waiting for tables, we never would have fit. Because we didn't change our seats, we paid for dessert that we may have skipped altogether. So for $268 (not including tip) we got 2 glasses of wine, 1 scotch, 2 appetizers, 4 average priced dinners, and 3 desserts. The waiter didn't charge for the coffees. Our friend who suggested Allora was livid, but there was nothing he could do. Evidently, we misunderstood the offer. Mind you it was very noisy the whole night. So, unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant. We waited for our table because reservations were mismanaged. Don't charge customers if they are not done with dinner when you need a table. Don't rush us out because people are stuffed into the bar area waiting. Allora, you can do better.

Amazing Italian and great service!

By Laura R |

We just happened to walk past this place and decided to eat here. The restaurant itself looks beautiful inside, the staff are very friendly and funny. This Italian is by far the best I have eaten at,p. The restaurant has only been open for 4 weeks, I believe the family have other restaurants around the City. It's authentic Italian food. We had complimentary bread, salami, cheese and sweet peppers to start with (everyone recieves this). I had the tagliatelle and my fiancée had the risotto. They were absolutely delicious and came out served piping hot. After our meal the waiter came over with some homemade alcoholic drinks (rum, sambuca and others!) these were again complimentary. The place is very affordable and the service was exceptional. Try this out if you're in town!

Allora

Antipasto was very good. Continental breakfast was mediocre. Cereal offered was Fruit Loops! However , they were kind enough to substitute a bowl of oatmeal

30 foot pasta is a fraud

By nycstl |

Took my wife out to eat at Allora for her birthday thinking Italian is her favorite food and having recently seen the video of their 30foot pasta. I thought my wife would absolutely love this type of pasta. I thought I would love the pasta. We arrive at 8pm for our 8pm reservation and we were told to sit at the bar and it would only be a few minutes. After a half an hour of waiting we were finally seated and it went further downhill from there. Two seconds later some waiter came by and asked us for drink orders, we asked for a wine menu, which was promptly slammed on our table at the same time as some dried hors d'oeuvres. To make a long story short. We had to ask for the menus. Rushed to order. Not ready. When finally ready no one was around to order from. I should point out there was not one but three waiters asking us the same questions. First appetizer come, good. Second one was the Cesar salad prepared table side. They try to bring it out prepared. Well at $18 for a Cesar salad it better be prepared table side. I tell the server that it is supposed to be prepared table side. He gives me an annoyed look as walks away. A few minutes later a waiter come by and tells me that the prepared salad was another table. Sure. Finally one of the waiters rolls the cart over to prepare the salad. In the end it was way over dressed and rather small. My wife did not even eat her portion since it was just dressing. Finally we are waiting for what we came there for, the 30 foot spaghetti which looked so amazing on social media. Turns out not to be what was in the videos at all. It was some mushy long macaroni noodles with pink sauce and store bought cold mini meatballs. Eww. We finished what we can. Waiter finally came over to asked us if we would like to take the rest home. No thanks. It was my wife’s birthday so I did indicate that when I made the reservation. Thinking it would be nice to have them put candle in the desert. My wife asked me if we could go somewhere else for desert. I couldn’t agree with her more. And just when I though this terrible dining experience would be over, one of the waiters rolls over the desert cart and asks us what we would like. We tell him we are stuffed and no thanks. He proceeds to pick up the chocolate soufflé with his bare hand and wave it in my face. Absolutely gross. There are 100s of amazing Italian restaurants on the city. I find Italian restaurants to have the best service of any other type of restaurant. The food is always good. This lacks everything that makes an Italian restaurant so pleasant. Next time I will ask a friend for a recommendation and not rely on some social media video. What a total fraud!

First Rate Italian Restaurant

By LizzleC |

We had the pleasure of having several meals at Allora while staying at The Bernic Hotel next door. After a very long day of travel delays, we missed reservations we had at a famous NYC Italian restaurant and decided to just try our luck at Allora. We were all blown away by the food, the service, and that homemade limoncello! My goodness! The limoncello alone is worth a visit to their bar. They were very accommodating to dietary restrictions. Every single thing was incredibly fresh, expertly prepared, and sooo delicious. Every single thing. Because Allora is connected to The Bernic, we had the pleasure of having breakfast there three times during our visit. Again, every single thing was marvelous. The Allora is a gem, and I can't wait to go back on our next visit to NYC.

Outstanding in every way!

The service, the food, the atmosphere, was one of the best restaurants in New York City bar none! You must go here.

Car crash?

By Jeff B |

I have no idea what is going on with this place. Keep in mind we stopped in for drinks so we didn't eat, but that was enough. Personally, if I were the Hilton, I'd distance myself from this place. There was one table in the back and they were incredibly loud and vulgar and demanding like they owned the place in the early afternoon. I'm guessing they had been there all day. Their beer selection is shameful in this day and age. They do have good wine and liquor selections. I watched staff walk away with pours of alcohol that I assume they consumed in private. Watched other staff members help themselves to coffee and other drinks. As we reached dinner time, there must have been upwards of 10 people working at one point and I have no idea what any of them were doing except the bartender and the chefs. Some of the staff bickered and another was arguing with the bartender about hitting on the new girl at the front desk. It was a car crash I couldn't stop watching. Couldn't believe the unprofessionalism in front of customers.

Horrible food and terrible service

By IGCP |

We had a family dinner and the experience was awful. There were dishes that did not appear in the menu, some waiters knew about it and other didn’t, so we got contradictory answers. The plates and glasses were dirty, and when we noticed it to the waiters, they replace them with bad temper. We were about to leave the restaurant before the food was even served. We should’ve done it, since the quality of the food was worse than average, and even the beef carpaccio was horrible. Pasta and rissoto were greasy. If you can, you should avoid this restaurant.

Great Food and Excellent Service

By Roeters |

Traditional Italian fare with great service from the staff. At the end of dinner they offer multiple types of grappa.

Pass on this one!

By GaySaw |

My husband and I had terrible meals at Allora. The bread was stale, tasteless, and cold. It was served with butter in those little plastic tubs like you get at diners. Caprese Salad honestly looked like a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. It was flooded with balsamic and no basil. My husband's mushroom risotto was just ok. My rigatoni bolognese was just a step above Chef Boyardee. We opted to go elsewhere for dessert. Also, the waiter kept calling my husband "Boss" which was very annoying. Will definitely not be returning.

Dismal service, lovely food

By verydarklilac |

We arrived at 10pm after watching a Broadway show, knowing the restaurant is open until 11pm. I can only describe our greeting (a grunt) and the subsequent service, as sullen. The food was very good, with options for vegan and carnivores we enjoyed. But our experience was ruined by how the staff ignored us, at one point holding up a hand walking past when I indicated I had a query. I would spend your time and money where they'll value your custom. Walk on by....

Good and better...

By morena |

This is an Italian restaurant and very recommended. Good food and wine and a nice place to spend a joyful evening with friends. Good value to your money. The waiter is one if the attractions of the place: could easily have been an actor... fun, helpful, a one man show. Ask for spacial dessert and you will have a show that will make you remember the evening...

Pass on Allora

Poor and disorganized service ! Ambience was very loud. Waited 2 hours at table before served our entrees and about an hour before we received appetizers.

A 2000’s flashback dining experience

By MichaelGel |

If you like the “Steakhouse” experience that you’d get at Morton’s, Bobby Van’s or Peter Luger (but with a New Jersey gangster vibe) you will probably love this place, but I really didn’t. Reminded me of business dinners in the 2000’s when expense accounts were unlimited and being presented with a trolley with a range of $70+ steaks made me feel like a grown-up. The senior waiter is way too familiar for my liking (hand resting on my shoulder - addressing me as “young man”) and a constant effort to up-sell i found more than irritating. I’m sure the intent is to be efficient, but I felt rushed from the moment I sat down - no I’m not ready to order 5 minutes after sitting down, when we are obviously in mid-conversation - no I’m not finished, just because I paused to talk to my friends..... Very old-school (I mean in an old fashioned bad way) place. Having said all this, it seems to receive glowing reviews, so maybe it’s just not my scene.

Good food but service seems be just starting up

By Bruce C |

This is a recently opened restaurant, so it is understandable that some of the staff didn't seem to anticipate what is needed for small requests. The waiters are definitely Italian and like to interact with the patrons, as well as the owner (?). He was definitely taking input from a patron on how to improve things. The specials are almost as many as the items on the menu itself... they didn't bring the menu until we asked for it. The portion sizes are large, and the food extremely good. The Dover Sole ($49.95) was excellent and large and very fresh! The Veal Medallions ($41.95) were large cuts of meat, with cheese and cooked to the medium rare requested. The sommelier recommended a very nice bottle of wine, Planeta ($59) which was a very good value. The only disappointing appetizer were the calamari ($18.95), a large portion but a little tough, and maybe we just like them filled with cheese which makes them moister. Our regret was we didn't order pasta...so we don't know how that would have been. Most of those in the restaurant at the time hadn't ordered pasta either. Not sure why. We will definitely return to try the pasta.

Fantastic all around!

We were greeted the second we walked through the door. Very personable staff. We had the prosciutto n burratta which was amazing! Had the bone in veal parm and others had pasta bolognese.. delicious! Definitely would go back and highly recommend! They end your meal with complimentary drinks which were also delicious!

absolutely love this place and Franco made it even better. Come here with friends family and loved ones. Can not be beat!

There are better Italian restaurants around the area

By GM20142014 |

Had lunch recently with my son . The place was essentially empty but somehow it took forever to eat, pay and leave. The manager also got into an argument with a wine supplier next to our table. The interior is ok, unremarkable. I had a swordfish that was over cooked and with no flavor, my son had better luck with scaloppine al Marsala. Price was on the expensive side even for midtown Manhattan. Within a couple of blocks there are much better alternatives if you like Italian food.

Tasty Italian family restaurant with a upscale style!

By Gina S |

This restaurant experience was a 10 out of 10 because it was great service, delicious authentic Italian food, and a delicious wine to match the flavors of our meal! We had a cocktail at the bar before dinner with Tatiana then Elio made us right at home at our table for 7! Our needs were met every set of this meal. Stop in for a dinner and you’ll love it! Clean and well kept as well!

Amazing service and food

Amazing service by a crew of attentive servers will make even the most jaded diner feel special at this establishment serving traditional Northern Italian fare.

Owner overcharged us and food was terrible

By Inspiration584808 |

My pasta was overcooked and cold. As guests of the Wyndham 45 we were supposed to get 15% off before taxes and a free appetizer each, as per Wyndham's flyer and brochure. We only got 10%, and the owner who served us ( we were the only guests (6) in the entire restaurant) charged us for our appetizers at $24.00 each, and over charged us, as only 5 of us had it and we were charged for 6. Then the pasta not on the menu but the specials of the day, were not price pointed but ended up being double the price of menu pasta = $27.00 versus non menu for $45.00 US for a cup and a half of pasta (overcooked and cold) and then the piece di resistance was the owner - who served us - added a 25% tip for himself to the bill without our permission. He arbitrarily added $134.00 US as a tip to the bill. I was disgusted and would never go back here nor recommend this place to anyone. We own a house in Italy and know what good pasta is worth and what it should be. I understand we were in New York Midtown so expected prices to be steeper but when the bill came to $750.00 US and $135.00 US of that was the owners self indulged tip on approximately 9 cups of overcooked pasta...........well, I was disgusted and made sure to let Wyndham know how disappointed I was in a place they were supposed to have vetted and encouraged us to go to and get ripped off at - not to mention the terrible meal. I myself make better pasta and I'm not even Italian! DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! THE WORST ITALIAN IN THE CITY!

Great food, fantastic service!

Fadil Morinr was our server and was fantastic. His recommendations for our meal were spot on. The scallops were delicious and the lobster ravioli was fantastic! Fadil was a lot of fun as well. Highly recommend!

Delicious breakfast and great service

By zerman17604 |

While staying next door at the Bernic, the breakfast menu at Allora was most tempting, very reasonably priced, good-sized portions, and outstanding service. I am usually not an outdoor diner in the city, however the courtyard setting of Allora was very relaxing and beautifully appointed.

Skip this place

By bigfish15 |

I’m a NYer. I have been dining at NYC restaurants for over 30 years. This place is unorganized, the food very average and overly priced, and the wait staff that were plentiful yet incompetent (headed by a guy who treated them in front of the clients poorly and unprofessionally). A pasta sampler was the appetizer. Of the three, two were ok, and one, the lobster ravioli, was Horrible. The sauce looked and tasted like ketchup. I then had the Veal Marsala, which was tough and far too heavy. At the end of the meal, limoncello was offered gratis. I tasted it..... it was mostly water. With so many fabulous choices in NYC for Italian, skip this pretentious, crazy place. I’d rather eat a prosciutto sandwich from a good deli on the street corner vs eating here.

Disappointed and VERY expensive!

By Bobbie W |

The atmosphere was lovely, although the isle is very narrow and therefore servers and waiters were constantly moving around the tables. We ordered appetizers if grilled octopus which was definitely the winner of the evenings meal. We chose not to order wine with dinner as wine by the sss was between $16-$19 per glass and bottles were equally expensive. When we first sat down several complementary items were placed on the table. A dish of sliced spicy ( oily) thin sliced pieces of eggplant, plate of 4 pieces of Cheese and sliced salami and a plate of warm spicy peppers. Dinner was ok. My husband’s lollipop lamb chops were cooked, by the owner, table side. I was t thrilled to see him touch the chops by the bone with his bare hands. Not all the chops were cooked and had to be returned to the kitchen. A new order of chops were brought to the table (much appreciated). But as the owner placed the platter on the table, he helped himself to one of the chops. The veal Marsala was excellent, the red snapper was good, but I needed to ask for lemon to squeeze in my fish as there was not much flavor. The shrimp that was to be included on the dish was chopped up. We only saw our waiter when he took our order and before we left the restaurant. We ordered one side of asparagus ($12) and received 5 stalks that was swimming in oil. The server also gave us (4 people), 2 halves of a small roasted potato. We questioned him and he then brought out more. It was my birthday. But we decided we did t want to order s dessert. However, a piece of cheesecake with a candle was brought to the table. We were charged for this, even though not requested or ordered! It was nice to receive complementary grappa at the end of the meal. However, the owner yelled several times the staff, regarding table set up, which made us (the patrons) feel very uncomfortable. We will not be returning.

A true event.

By Richard W |

Excellent evening. A real event. Veal chop and rack of lamb, both beautifully prepared. The limoncello was the best ever.

Fantastic Breakfast and Service

By Happy_to_Contribute |

Allora is a cozy Italian restaurant that is part of the Bernic hotel. We were wonderfully surprised by the food (delicious, authentic recipes) and service (Ben is a superstar!). This is certainly being added high on our list of go-to places in Manhattan. Yes, it is one of those “I wish I knew of this place earlier” which means-JUST MAKE A RESERVATION AND GO!!!

Amazing Experience- You better believe it!

By James K |

I have taken numerous clients to Allora during the Covid pandemic. First, the owner Elliot and his staff are amazing. They provided several options of Covid compliant seating arrangements, both inside, outside and on the rooftop! The food is absolutely incredible. The tri-color pasta is delicious, as are all the appetizers (you have to try the fish sampler). The entrees are huge and fabulous. Personal favorites are the porterhouse steak, the large veal chops and the flattened veal chop (its the size of a pizza). All the food is cooked to perfection, flavors are amazing. The 30 foot pasta is delicious and unique! The service is first rate. The waiters are very attentive, service is timely and very pleasant. The wine selection is high quality and varied. Their are several types of grappa (the fig grappa is delicious). Can’t say enough good things about Allora.

The best meal I've had in several years, without exaggeration.

By YJ4 |

Lunch for four began in a light-filled conservatively appointed dining room with appetizers set on the table by the house; small rounds of salami with small solid blocks of Parmesan cheese, whole hot roasted peppers, fried sliced zucchini tossed with red onion vinaigrette. All three were very good. Due to time constraints we only ordered entrees, but all 3 were marvelous. My medallions of veal in a port reduction with a mild Gorgonzola cheese melted on top was simply perfect. The sweetness of the reduction mixed with the saltiness of the cheese in delicious balance. As for the veal, although very thick the center was cooked just enough so that no bloody juice ran out while the edges were tender, not tough or dry. My friend's scallops were enormous but melt-in-your-mouth consistency with a lightly spiced tomato sauce, and just great. But the prize surely went to the Branzino. Boned and briefly flamed at the table, I don't know how else it was prepared but as good as my veal was I was jealous of my other friend's choice. Chocolate mouse desert was just the right balance of thick and light, and was devoured quickly with closing glasses of limoncello made on the premises and presented in an enormous glass jar along with other homemade liquors to choose from. Do I sound like I'm raving? Well it was that good. I tried all three dishes and there wasn't a disappointed person at the table. Prices are what you would expect from an establishment in mid-town Manhattan this good. Entrees were mostly in the 20s, pastas ranged from the high teens to mid twenties. But it was not the price we all noted but the value. Portions were adequately large but not overwhelming. We all left very satisfied and discussing when we would be returning. Allora is new, but you should get there now before it becomes impossible to get into. It's that good. As our host, Elio, kept repeating, "You better believe it!"

Quiet outdoor patio, decent food and excellent service

By rosslynrat |

We would give this place a 10/10 in service. It’s on the ground floor of a hotel with a little patio in the back. Service is outstanding and the food is decent too.

Special touches

Fadil is such a sweetie there and he makes the best recommendations. Honestly will put a nice touch to your intimate night ❤

Not very impressive

By holyisle |

Terrible dim lighting, grumpy gruff old waiter, snacks so hot they were impossible to eat. Atmosphere somber .Food mediocre. Fairly expensive for what it was. Nothing much to recommend it really . We happened to be staying in the atrachech hotel. Don’t be lazy like us, have a look around.

great views, good food

By Nana B |

The staff here is super friendly and accommodating. They were courteous, attentive and always a short distance away. The decor was super cute and the food was good as well. I loved the rooftop as well, definitely going back.

Great neighborhood Italian!

By gtski2 |

This restaurant is located on 47th Street near 3rd Avenue in midtown Manhattan. It is a neighborhood gem. The food was authentic, well prepared, and the service was excellent. Ir is a great location for a pre-theater dinner. The owner is from Montenegro and the service personnel are Italian so it has a homey feel. We highly recommend Allora!

Amazing Italian meal!

Small location tucked away but do not miss the food. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating - offered to customize any dish. The food was so fresh and delightful. I can't say enough good things about this place. Not alot of tables but bery cozy inside. Drinks were fantastic too.

Good place for evening out!

By BEAMER1998 |

Stayed at the Bernic and enjoy evening and rooftop here. While like many places in NYC you will pay for good service and quality - this a place I would recommend for an evening with friends.

authentic italian food

The wait staff was very attentive. The owner was there and made sure every detail was taken care of. Very authentic Italian meal and waiters. We dined there for both dinner and breakfast. All of the food was excellent!

Good Food, but check your bill!

By Drey98 |

Pros- good food (olive oil, bread, mushroom risotto, ravioli appetizer, gnocchi with pesto), good service, ability to make vegetarian accommodations, homemade pasta, outdoor seating, some free apps, located near Grand Central Station. Cons- The hidden food costs. As another reviewer has stated, be sure to ask the price of each item if not stated on the menu and be clear as to whether you are getting one entree divided among your guests (e.g., salad, appetizer) or several entrees at once. We had that happen with the ravioli appetizer which we were told was one dish divided by 3 and it was actually billed as 3 separate appetizers of which we tried to return 2. The bus boys assured us that it was 1 appetizer dish divided into 3 plates. When the final bill arrived, we saw it was billed as 3 separate appetizer dishes at $ 16 each ($ 48 total) and so we contested it. To the waiter’s credit, he adjusted it twice and then gave us complimentary limoncello shots but we were disappointed that the meal ended that way.

Unplanned Visit on a Rainy Saturday Night

By hnd1 |

My wife and I had a lovely evening at Allora on July 17, 2021. We did not have a reservation, but we were greeted warmly at the door and shown to our table. The captain was gracious, took our order for a delicious cocktail and described the many daily specials with precision and enthusiasm. We shared an appetizer order of carpaccio that was delicious and attractively served on separate plates. Our main courses were squid ink ravioli with crabmeat and lobster and the house specia:a 30-foot-long pasta (a la Lady and the Tramp) accompanied by meatballs. Our waiter suggested that we might be interested in sharing the two mains, and they made d tthat happen as well. Excellent. We finished the meal with creme brulee, followed by complimentary limoncellos.

Lunch extravaganza

By Ugurd |

We were late and not in the best restaurant area when we finally found this Italian restaurant. It did not look budget and it was to be our most expensive lunch during this trip. Having said that we found everything of a high standard, both service and quality of food. The ambience was slightly sophisticated and inviting for a long leisurely lunch. We all tried the lobster bisque (perfect) and I had a seafood risotto (a generous portion of langoustines, shrimp, fish and scallops). The other two in our company had risotto with mushrooms. The white wine was excellent.

5 Star Service & Food

By Jeremy F |

Fantastic service and food. I’ve been there several times over the past year and they never disappoint. Ben and Anna go out of their way to take care of their customers. Best chicken parmigiana I’ve had in a long time. I will go back anytime I’m working in NYC.

Hotel restaurant in Bernic, convenient to there

By Max M |

Attractive place, convenient to hotel. Service was disengaged, no offer of coffee refill, or check up visits. Food was subpar, eggs over cooked a lot, pancakes burned. We only ate a few bites, paid and left. When waitress cleared nearly full plates, no comments or questions, such as was everything ok.

very deceiving menu

By Michelle W |

breakfast included with room - not really. Very deceptive menu/waitress. Food was ok, nothing special.

30 foot pasta!

By Keely |

My mom and I went to this restaurant twice during a 4 day stay in NY. It is so convenient if you are staying at the Bernic Hotel next door. The waitstaff are so helpful and the food was amazing. If you come here you have to try the 30 foot pasta! They bring out this massive plate of one home cooked piece of pasta and cut the massive thing in front of you. It was delicious. I also highly recommend the scallop starter.

Need to improve

By John Michael |

This was a last minute reservation for a Sunday evening. Service was slow even though we were the only clients. Asked for 2 glasses of Pino Grigio and brought out 2 reds, sent them back. Ordered a Caesar salad to be made at the table and was almost a sloppy soup. The fish both branzino and sole were very good Service overall very poor and need to work on their professionalism Will not return

Just Not Up To Par For Fine Dining

By jetlagNebraska |

Dinner and service were sub par at best. Upon arriving, we had to ask for menus to select appetizers and the selection was limited at best - we ended up ordering half orders of gnocchi and the pasta special as appetizers- both were marginal. We also ordered calamari which was tough and rubbery. Two of our party of 7 also ordered a Caesar salad prepared table side - the salad was more garlic and croutons than salad and anchovies. My entree was grilled salmon and it was fishy - believe it or not, the grilled salmon I had in LaGuardia airport on the way home was better.

dissapointment

By yenikoy34 |

I am sorry but we were here on a Christmas eve dinner and we were terribly dissapointed. We ordered scallops we received chicken and the chicken was not tasty we indicated what we ordered and we got they offered to give us one serving of scallops and that was not very good we paid for a fixed menu and did not wait for our desert anymore and paid the bill and got out. The next table folks from Down Under and they confused the order with chicken with veal. They too were too polite and on Christmas eve uninterested making any scene. If you are seeking an Italian food I highly recommend to look elsewhere.

Worst fine dining experience ever

By LG1 |

Rude waiters, mediocre-uninspired food, we were rushed through dinner. Awful experience. I absolutely do not recommend!

Great character and service

By DavidhdMorris |

Had an impromptu dinner here on our first night in NYC. Food was great but the service was something else. My Mum from Wales made a new BFF in our host who was funny and friendly, even taking us up to the closed rooftop bar and giving us a free drink on the house. Thanks Frankie, I’m sure the Bronx is somewhere near DC!...

Don’t Miss This One

By 99542014 |

This is upscale Italian! From the complementary “pre-appetizers” to aperitifs and everything in between, Allora offers a truly fine dining experience. The ambiance is upscale - elegant yet cozy. Jimmy, our server, and his team, were highly professional and attentive, yet they don’t take themselves too seriously. Food was superbly prepared and delectable. This was our first visit, but definitely not our last, to this gem of a restaurant. It is on 47th near Lexington, not that far from the theater district. It is well worth your visit!
