Wonderful food, service and vibe...

By Jan_from_Atlanta |

Thoroughly enjoyed $45 - 3 course Summer Restaurant Week dinner as well as three wine tastings for $14 from Happy Hour menu. Starter was tuna tartare, followed by trout, and a lovely rice pudding dessert. Love this small and very warm staff and vibe.

Wonderful.

Environment, excellent service, good choice of drinks and drinks and a wonderful food. Highlight for the cheese bullet fried with onion, eating by praying. Better make Reservation, depending on the day, the restaurant lots.

Amazing Gem

By Castillo H |

Amelie is a culinary gem with standout dishes like the perfectly cooked duck and delightful Chef's choice. Though the braised lamb needs tweaking, the vibrant atmosphere and excellent service compensate well. For a sweet finale, a short stroll to Hercules Cafe for their sumptuous strawberry and Nutella crepes is a must. Overall, Amelie promises a charming dining experience, enriched further by nearby dessert delights.

Back in NYC, eating outside

By PrinceConsort |

This restaurant never fails to impress. Even eating outside in 30 degree temperature, it was great. I had a very tasty squash soup and a beautifully cooked duck breast, while my wife had a artichoke salad and lamb stew. Everything was great. What a treat to be eating at a restaurant again.

HORRIBLE!!!!! . DON'T GO THERE!! BETTER FRENCH RESTAURANTS ON UPPER WEST

By Edward L |

Food was TERRIBLE - mussels were awful. Burger, ordered as "medium" came raw and they refused to fix. Even ran out of the wine we ordered. Made reservations well in advance but were seated way in back at table like in a dungeon-- between bathroom and very noisy kitchen. Asked to move and they refused even though there were other places available. DISGUSTING PEOPLE - DON'T GO HERE!!

Lovely staff

Terrible Experience

By Wanderer594417 |

Terrible experience. Reserved for dinner many days in advance and received text asking for confirmation. Confirmed, and then received two more texts. When we arrived on time, there was a long line in a cramped, noisy space. Rude "host" told us everyone else in line had a reservation too. Perhaps we could be seated in 30-45 minutes, but no guarantee. When we complained, "host" yelled at us for complaining. We walked out and will never return. You can do much better than trying to dine here.

Authentic and Delicious

By Helen W |

This is a neighborhood gem. The food is outstanding. I often order the fish which is delicious and on top of some incredible sauce I can't describe. I love French food and go to Paris often. This is authentic and the waiters are consistantly welcoming. I take my friends from out of town here. I'm so glad this is on the UWS!

Excellent place to explore wines

By LuluOkeem |

We had such a lovely night trying the “wine flights”. We each got a flight - a series of 3 small glasses of different wines. It was a really nice way to explore flavours. The Brie with garlic was delicious and the service was exceptional! We will be coming back! Not super fancy, just a nice casual place for an intimate drink and nibble!

Loved the vibe, drinks and service

What a perfect spot for friends having a reunion. The cocktails were perfectly delicious and the finger food and cheeses were out of this world. The host was a barrel of fun, he also made and served the drinks. We'll be back when in the hood again.

Put Amerie's on your "Go To" list.

I ate here 3 times in 2 weeks...lunch, dinner and cocktails. Amelie's has a good selection of excellent reasonably priced wines and offer very generous pours. The service is professional yet friendly. For bar food get the chacuterie, a variety of smoked meats with cheese and dried fruit and the baked camembert...these will come with a small burlap bag filled with French bread. The Valence ravioli are heavenly quarter size pockets filled with comte cheese ..NOT the doughy, clumped together pockets of dough served all too often in other places that charge much more. These ravioli swim gently in a white wine sauce and small diced pieces of butternut squash. Even the leftovers rewarmed at home were delightful. The Lyonaise salad with lardons is another winner, but really you cannot go wrong here.

Can't go wrong

A great choice for our first restaurant in 6 months

By PrinceConsort |

This is one of our favorite restaurants on the UWS, but we hadn't been to a restaurant for 6 months. This was our fist outing, and it was great. We had no reservation but had no problem getting a table at 8:30 on a Tuesday night. Outside dining only until September 30. It was nice eating outside, even with the traffic whizzing by on Amsterdam Avenue. The outside dining setup, apparently shared with the Mermaid Inn and Pizzeria Sirenetta, is quite nice. The service and the food, as usual, was great. We're happy to be back in NYC!

Good meal, would return, but . . . .

Three friends went for restaurant week prix fixe dinner. Pleasant atmosphere; very good service; though crowded, wasn't too noisy, nice wine (on tap!). Best appetizer: salmon tartare. Best main: pan-seared branzino. Worst appetizer: filet mignon carpaccio (where was the meat?). None of the desserts were outstanding: ordinary chocolate mousse and over-ripe peach melba without raspberry sauce. Would suggest skipping the prix fixe and order from regular menu (other diners recommended duck). Would return, with those caveats.

Never again

Very rude staff. The place doesn't honor reservations made in advance. Slow service. Not very clean space. Long waits for your food.

Food was phenomenal including

Food was phenomenal including the bread which we do not eat on the keto lifestyle! Prices were great too

Enchanting tiny bar

By Kristy F |

When night falls and it's freezing outside, this little bar beckons invitingly with its attractive glowing lights. There is a long narrow dining room behind it for meals, as well. We were there for just drinks at the bar. Two women struck up a conversation with our party and actually shared their bar snacks with us, which were delicious olives and toasted almonds with smoked paprika. What an amazing aroma they had! My cocktail was delicious and the Happy Hour prices were quite a bargain. The wine list appeared impressive. Enjoy!

Pleasantly surprised.

Seems to be a local hangout. French bistro type food. Had three appetizers: Gazpacho soup, escargots, chicken liver pate. All excellent. Amazing selection of reasonably priced wines, knowledgeable waitstaff.

Excellent cocktails

Excellent cocktails Try the amelie special. Great with friends out on the sidewalk. Recommended, and food is decent too.

Excellent food, good wine list, good service and deafeningly noisy

By PrinceConsort |

This is a small restaurant with really excellent food and a good wine list (and a generous pour). The downside, from my standpoint, is that the dining area is quite narrow and rthe place is so noisy that it is hard to have a conversation. Go late when the noise has died down.

Very Disappointed

By Rose_Kavalier |

I hadn't been back to this restaurant for several years. I found this time the food was not very good. My burger was dry and tasteless. The gruyere cheese smelled rancid. The fries were limp. Everything else was not very good. I definitely won't be back to this Amelie on the uws (I might try the one downtown again tho). Very disappointing.
