We visited for our first wedding anniversary during our trip to New York. Out hotel concierge recommended the restaurant. The food was exquisite ...we had the oysters and steak tatare to begin. 2 incredible steaks. If we go again I'd share a side because we couldn't eat it all. High cost bit so ooooooo worth every penny. The service was attentive and professional with a touch of personal when needed. You have to try this place it's food heaven x

This place is amazing. Service is amazing. Food is Amazing. Just relax and enjoy. pretty busy during this time Prices are high.

We were recommended to American cut on e 56 st (there is another NYC location) We were pleasantly seated at our reserved time. Our server peter was very helpful with the menu and the wine list. biscuits are brought to the table instead of a bread basket. They are delicious. We shared a shrimp cocktail that was unfortunately overwhelmed by the sauce it was completely covered in. The pastrami seasoned bone in rib eye was outstanding. No so for the veal loin chop that was covered in what I think was a BBQ sauce. No sauce was mentioned on the menu nor by our server. I sent it back and it was returned without the sauce but it still had the taste. We also shared a side of potato latkes, served in a stack of 3. They were very good with a nice crispness. For dessert we had monkey bread and that was delicious.

We were big fans of the American cut in the Revel in AC until the Revel closed. This was our first dining experience at American Cut in NYC. I would highly recommend that you try it here. The food, service and atmosphere that we were use to was all the same here which was great. The manager was very much on top of things to make sure everyone was having a great meal. The only negative was the sommelier. We asked both the waiter and the manager to have her come over to answer a couple of questions that we had about the wine list and both had to come back over and apologize for her being to busy to come over our for her thinking that she had helped us by simply answering one of our questions regarding whether or not they carried a wine that we use to drink at the Atlantic City American Cut. The sommeliers in AC could not be more helpful and yet this girl couldn't be bothered with us for some reason. When you are spending as much on wine as you are on a meal you deserve the same level of service from the sommelier as you get from the server. She never even stopped by the table during the entire meal to say she was sorry she couldn't get to us. A couple of minutes of her time would have made a great meal a perfect meal.

Saw a video about the special funnel cake ice cream sandwiches and really wanted to check it out. We ordered some bar food, the chicken burgers, waygu burgers and the pretzel to share between two. The pretzel arrived first and was hanging from a hook. It was one of the biggest pretzel i've ever seen. Not only was it huge it was unbelievably good. It was warm and buttery and had just the perfect amount of salt on it. The mustard sauce was perfect, I could go on and on. Days later I was still thinking about this pretzel. The burgers were also very good and then we got the crackerjack funnel cake ice cream sandwich. It was delicious, the buttered popcorn flavored ice cream was subtle but delicious (not like fake movie butter taste). We were thoroughly impressed. It is a bit on the pricier side but well worth it. Still thinking about that pretzel....

This is definitely a five star quality restaurant! Chef Forgione is outstanding. Every dish, from yellowfin tuna to lobster chili to a perfectly cooked filet mignon - everything was just so flavorful. The Dover sole was superb and one of the favorite dishes of the night! Not only was the food outstanding but the service was spot on and the ambiance was great. Definitely a place I'd love to come back to - next on my list is Marc Forgione! Can't wait to check that one out - if American Cut is any indication of how good chef Forgione is, I know Marc Forgione restaurant will not disappoint. I'll reserve that for my next visit to the city.

We went there for my boyfriends birthday on January 20th. The food was excellent from the bread to the steak everything was made and spiced with detail. The service was great. Can’t wait to go back!!!

In every steakhouse we go, me and my GF always have the same: porterhouse for two with some sides. In NYC, we tried Smith & Wollensky, Keens, STK and others and I must say that American Cut is absolutely comparable. Meat was good, their differentiation edge i think is the very tasty crust they are able to give to the meat. Must try

Great place to enjoy a New York style steak prepared to perfection and with wait staff who are more attentive than anywhere else that I have come across in the City. It is not cheap, but I'm not sure how you can expect this quality and style to be produced at a lower cost. As someone from overseas, there were only two small things that stood out for me; first, the music at +decibels is a blaring annoyance in a classy restaurant and second, charging 3X retail for a bottle of local (ie US producer) is just plain naughty. However, as stated above, the food was exceptional and the wait staff exceptionally attentive.

Waited one hour in the bar for 8pm reservation. We were continually told a few minutes, drinks service was slow and the bar was very noisy. Not offered any complementary drinks. In the end at 9.15pm we gave up with no tangle forthcoming and no apology. Luckily we managed to get a table at the Robert de Niro steakhouse in the same street. Shame as the food we saw did look good.

I was here recently with a friend who wanted to try their Restaurant Week meal. We started out with their baked oyster appetizer, which was good, but what was disappointing was their steak. It was covered with this pastrami-like rub that was overpowering, and made the steak difficult to eat, so much so that my friend left hers mostly uneaten. I didn't want to waste my food so managed to swallow it with lots of water. What also made the meal not as great was that the air conditioner wasn't working well, and the tables were very dimly lit in its downstairs dining room where we were. We definitely won't be back, New York offers many better choices for steakhouses.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! The ambience and the service are really good however we had mice running around the dining area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eeeeeeewwwwww! UTTERLY SHOCKING! NOT WHAT YOU EXPECT IN A HIGH END RESTURANT! The food is absolutely average. The New York strip I had was burnt on the outside as supposed to be nicely grilled. The meat itself was anything but tender. The waitress excuse for having mice running around the kitchen was that the building is really old and they are currently doing some refurbishment works at the back of the kitchen. I regret not having asked for our money back but it was our last evening and I did not want to ruin it completly. They deserve to be reported for breaching health and safery guidelines! There are better, cheaper and micefree steakhouse in NY! Avoid this one.

So I love Steakhouses: the quality of the meat, the preparation, the quality of the drinks, etc. But I did not love my steak here. When I go to what appears to be a legit steakhouse, I expect a certain taste when I bite into the steak, and I simply didn’t get that here. Unfortunate because when the steak came out, it looked like it was definitely done right. It just didn’t have the taste.

I was traveling alone and wanted to treat myself to a good steak, picked American Cut based on reviews I read on the internet - and I was not disappointed! I enjoyed the downstairs dining room (which I recommend if you're looking for a quieter experience in a top-notch steakhouse setting). The waitress who looked after me was friendly and of good advice on dishes and wines, and the attending service team never missed a top-up on a less-than-full glass. The meal was excellent: kampachi, chili lobster and NY strip, accompanied by a nice Napa Valley red (2013 Blackbird Arise), which I got to sample first, which was a nice touch. All in all, it was a very good experience - to be repeated!

The service was really excellent at this place. They let me go into the wine cellar and pick the wines my table would like. Good wines too! But the food was average I thought. The meat very seasoned and the sides nothing special. I think there is better in town and would not go again

Excellent meat, service great for ordering, then follow up lacks attention. Overall a great experience

Restaurant week ~ and it’s our anniversary… so off we go in search of a meal at one of NYC’s premier restaurants. Their normal menu prices are just freakish, so this is the best time to go and sample the wares without breaking the bank. Though, having said that, this year’s prices at $42/person are somewhat higher than in previous years. (Are we doing better, financially, as a City? Either that, or am I remembering it wrong…??) This is another of New Yok’s stellar ‘foodie’ names…. The chef, Marc Forgione, has apparently won high recognition at a young age… the result of a combination of a flair for excellence and very hard work being rewarded, and probably justly so. We went to the downtown New York City location, in Tribeca, but they have others in the US and one in Puerto Rico. This neighborhood, which not so long ago was a mess of disused warehouses and former factories, empty for years, is now seeing a resurgence as a “cool” neighborhood with very “hot” prices... John F. Kennedy Jr. lived in a loft here until his unfortunate flight… The area now abounds with many famous restaurants, art galleries, recreational facilities, high-priced residential lofts, office spaces, etc. Parking is not readily available… you have to search, or use one of the paid lots that charge an arm and a leg before you can recover your vehicle. We actually chose to use mass transit, for a change. The interior space is huge, and they also had some sidewalk tables. The entrance lobby yields to a large, opulent art-deco bar with a seating section. It appeared that there are at least three rooms off the bar space. The décor is muted, with large, cushioned furniture and banquettes, and the lighting was also pretty low when we arrived, making it hard to read the menus ~ seemed to brighten up later, or perhaps we got used to it ? We arrived slightly early, as they were opening up for the evening, so we ordered beers at the bar and later had to carry them to our table, because it was not ready. The service was a bit disorganized at that point, but once we settled in, our server, Umar, was very attentive and helpful. The restaurant week menu seemed a bit sparse in offerings. Umar recommended some dishes from the regular menu, and so we decided to start with one: Chili Lobster ($34 ~ which I can still taste… Thank you, Umar) as an extra appetizer. This preparation apparently harkens from Southeast Asia, and simply exudes the zillions of flavors and fire of that region’s cuisine. Just excellent… one has to dip the bread that comes with this in the sauce and suck it up with the juicy lobster meat. And followed up with the three “restaurant week” courses. My wife had the Caesar salad appetizer, and I the bacon. Both were somewhat average.. nothing special in a salad, and the bacon was kinda tough, chewy, overcooked almost to being burnt, and over-salted. We both had the Hanger steak main course ~ hers done medium and mine medium-rare. Neither of us could finish this ~ perhaps because of the double-appetizer dose? But though the meat was well cooked, pink and soft, the preparation with its heavy coat of spices, like pastrami, was a bit over-sour …almost like a very heavy, tamarind-saucy taste, which the additional steak sauce they offered me didn’t do anything to mitigate. The Cracker Jack Sundae was just a regular ice cream with a huge wad of cream and caramelized popcorn on top that definitely appeared and tasted like it came out of a spray-can. Anyone can do this, and definitely not what one expects from an upper-echelon menu... Overall, an average dinner. A bit high-priced and the beers were extra. Still, we did bring some doggy-bagged steak home, which remains to be chewed... and re-valued.

We could have made those incredible rolls a meal and left happy. The whole experience was outstanding. Our waiter and the manager were incredibly helpful and always had smiles. We shared the Octopus which was extremely tender and the bone marrow. We had two delicious entrees one being the 12oz filet mignon with seared foie gras and the cedar plank salmon. Cauliflower with capers and raisins rounded out the meal. Perfectly cooked beef and moist salmon. Next time we'll share the crackerjack sundae but we were so full we opted for something "lighter" the apple quince cobbler. Our first time here and definitely will not be the last.

We had dinner in this place located in TriBeCa a few minutes away from Canal Street. We took the NY strip which was excellent. Nice selection of wine too. This was worth a visit if you like meat.

What a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner. The food and service was excellent! Really relaxing and the atmosphere was great!

Wish I could recommend this place, because the food is quite good. Unfortunately our experience was mostly ruined by the service. We had a table for 12 people for a bachelor party dinner. Due to travel issues, 6 of the people were not able to make it. We had a $1,500 minimum spend and when we asked if there was anything they could do to lower it, the manager was insistent that we were stuck with the total spend, which equated to $320 per person. Then when we are seated, the service staff push fancy water bottles on us. After the first 2, I ask if they can only give us tap water going forward. When the bill came, I was shocked to see they charged us for 6 water bottles for a total of $60. When you are dropping over $2,400 on a dinner for 6 people, it is disappointing to see the restaurant try to nickel and dime you for something as trivial and universal as water. Then the general manager comes over to suggest a wine. We ask for the sommollier and the general manager reacts defensively and says he is certified and that the somm would be by later. We felt like the staff tried to push a specific wine on us instead of presenting multiple options. The bachelor whose upcoming wedding we were celebrating tastes the wine and doesn't say anything for a long time (he didn't like it). Usually this would be a prompt to offer alternatives, but the staff did not do so. Pretty surprising for a $200 bottle of wine. When we were putting in orders, we originally just wanted to order the appetizers and order the entrees later to space it out, but the waiter pressured us to order entrees as well. We made it clear that we wanted to have time to savor the appetizers and the waiter said he would space it out. Then, when we were halfway through the appetizers, the wait staff tried to pressure us to take the appetizers and told us the steaks were coming out momentarily. The waiter said he would take care of it, but when the steaks came out they had clearly been kept under a heat lamp. Again, when you are paying over $400 a person, you want to have the steaks fresh off the grill (I can taste the difference) and not have to feel rushed. They did throw in a key lime pie on the house, but when we are dropping $400 a person, that seemed like a small gesture. Overall the food was good and the ambience is great, but this experience was spoiled by the service. I would expect more at this price point and I would recommend that NY's upper crust look elsewhere.

Highlights: good service, bacon. Twice baked potato, spinach and pecan pie. Lows: the main event...the 20 oz ribeye with pastrami rub. Tough and tasteless. Definitely not worth the hype.

Came for a family birthday dinner and was not disappointed. Leisurely meal with excellent food and service. Waiter Jared T. was super attentive and gave us several great food recommendations instead of our standard choices. You must try the lobster chili and use the leftover sauce on your steak. The biscuit-bagels are awesome. There was a fabulous sommelier that gave us great direction. The finale was the gorgeous and varied birthday plate that arrived. The only complaint is that the whole restaurant is a nit dark - even for ambiance.

Went to dinner with friends on Friday Aug 12th. Had a 10pm reservation and we arrived exactly at 10 and were promptly seated to a relatively open restaurant. We were seated in an absolute corner booth next to the exit that wait staff use to go to the kitchen. Within 20 minutes we noticed that it was unusually warm in the restaurant to which we asked a waiter to move to another area. We were told that the entire restaurant was like that and the AC system cannot handle the humidity that was outside that evening. We were also told that it is hard for them as employees but they endure it. While I appreciate that, I don't think spending money to sweat is the same as sweating while earning money. The food was good, I won't comment on that because there were no culinary issues. When we paid our bill and got up, we walked through the restaurant to find out it was an ice box and we were the unfortunate souls who were relegated to the sauna section of the restaurant. Even after asking and being denied a move, we felt that we had been cheated of a fun dinner experience now that we had sweated through our meal. When asking to speak to a manager, the hostess simply said that one wasn't available and that she had to endure similar working conditions. I appreciate that the restaurant staff has to work hard, but I'm there with my friends on a night out to spend out money and enjoy a good time. As someone who frequents the midtown location quite often I am abhorred at the poor service we received that evening.

From the biscuits ( which are insanely great) to the ambience and every facet of the meal came together for a truly great meal and experience. Can't miss this.

Heard about this restaurant because of the "Pastrami Seasoned" steak. Four of us came for dinner, quite excited for this special flavor combination. We skipped appetizers so as to have room for steaks and sides. Steaks arrived (all four of us ordered this "Pastrami Seasoned" steak) and they smelled wonderful. The first few bites were simply amazing. Unfortunately, this is a rib steak which is fatty to begin with but here, almost half the serving was globs of fat. The steak itself was much too fatty and the pastrami seasoning was wonderful but couldn't cover up the fat content. The sides were only okay and the desserts were also just okay. If this was a chain restaurant with chain restaurant pricing, we would have thought we got what we paid for. The hefty prices here demand much better cuts of meat, much better side dishes, and better desserts. Simply put, not worth the prices. On a final note, the music played would be great in a bar or disco but not in a restaurant charging $50+ for steaks.

Attending 2016 SB party where they had a buffet with many of their favorites - american cut chicken, spinach, pastrami sandwiches, cow in blanket, cooked oyster dish, Cesar salad. Everything was excellent. The restaurant is a very nice venue and the staff was very good. Would return for regular dinner.

American Cut never fails to amaze!! The staff are incredible, the food is interesting and classic at the same time, and the ambiance cannot be beat. By far my favorite steakhouse experience in NYC. Don't miss the chili lobster or table-side caesar salad!!

Noisy, pretentious slow slow service and a waitress that acts as if you should be so grateful to be in her company. The smallest appetisers ever known and average steak. 15 minutes wait times to get a drink when you flag down your server to ask for a glass of wine. The only redeeming factor was that the manager stepped in and comped our appetisers and some drinks.

Generally only eat steak when out. Have eaten at Quality Meats and various other steakhouses, however, this one was definitely the best. As someone who likes their steak well done, it was great that the chef achieved that without making it tough. Cant wait to return. Husband had new york cut medium...also good.

Be prepared to part with some cash as this place is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. However once you get past the prices you will be treating your taste buds to some sensational cuts of meat and the cocktails aren't half bad either. Would definitely recommend it to meat lovers everywhere!

Table side preparations of our salad and final steak flambé sets the tone for an enjoyable fine dinning evening. The bar is a great place to hang before or after. Private rooms in rear offer elegant special events. And the main room provides table and classic "booth" steak house style. The sommelier helped us picked something perfect. They accommodated our request to enjoy our meal prior to a late comedy show,

Decided to celebrate my birthday with friends at American Cut. Of the steakhouse choices available in NYC, American Cut has great food and a cool vibe! Of course, a place like this is always busy so we could only get in at 10:30pm for dinner. There were 5 of us and our waiter (Omar?) shared several great options to consider. We wound up with a bunch of appetizers (Jim Brady oysters & crab cakes were delicious.) In lieu of ordering an entree each, we went with the 42oz Tomohawk Ribeye, the Hanger Steak and salmon with a bunch of sides! Definitely get the Chimichurri sauce too! Special thanks to the manager Justin for going above and beyond to make my birthday great and the bartender who made the yummy French Martinis! See ya again soon!

American Cut is in a very interesting location in lower Manhattan. We stopped by a bar on the way and were feeling fine when we arrived. We were whisked to our table immediately and settled into a very intimate interior. The patrons were gorgeous, well dressed, and impressive. It is hard to deny that great eye candy makes every dinner more delicious. Competing tables vied for glances. Champagne glasses reflected light off multi faceted gemstones. The servers went out of their way to show off their skills, earning every cent of their very high percentage tip that is a prerequisite for this neighborhood. Dishes arrived in perfect harmony. My Hamachi appetizer was off the chain and has yet to be superseded. My big complaint is rather surprising. My $100 steak had a big piece of gristle. No Kidding. I guess every now and then it just happens, but to pay that much for one steak and it as a big piece of gristle is something you just can't ignore. I would still go back.

I came here with my boyfriend during restaurant week for dinner. Hostess was nice and ambience was typical of a classy steakhouse: warm and dim. Our waiter, Matt, was friendly and helpful in answering all questions. We ordered the Caesar salad and bacon. The salad was hands down, the best salad I have ever had! Bacon was very yummy too. For the main entree, we both ordered Hangar steak with a side of spinach. The steak and spinach was exceptional! The steak was cooked just perfectly and the crust was just wow! We ordered a side of Dry Aged Potatoes at the suggestion of our waiter and that was a great decision. It was different than what we have ever tried. Dessert was awesome, we just preferred the Popcorn ice cream over the red velvet cake. Overall, unforgettable experience and will definitely return in the future.

Our family of five dined here, celebrating our son's seventeenth birthday. Although I have forgotten her name (she was the newest waitperson), our waitress made the evening special. The food is all of the highest quality and well-prepared, but not memorable except for the Tomahawk steak and the chili lobster. Everything else was damn good (dry aged potatoes, Dover sole) and the wine list is comprehensive and fairly priced. The care and joy of our waitress made the evening special. A big personality, but far from over the top, she made every moment enjoyable and anticipated our every need.

Great place for a business meal. Pastrami spices Rib Eye was somewhat unique and a great flavor. Service also outstanding. Would highly recommend.

Decided to drop in as I'm an avid steak eater. Heard great things here. All the rave right now as they have the all-new NY Cut which is a steak seasoned like pastrami. I guess it tasted like a high-priced piece of pastrami but at $60...ouch. I felt it was way too salty but wait, is that why people usually make a sandwich out of this meat? I mean if you eat a hot dog without the bun, that thing is gonna be really salty. Ok, fine but at least the service is top-notch at a fancy steakhouse like this one, right? Wrong. I ordered my drink and just nothing for the next half hour. I had to wait forever to get my check as well. The ambiance was cool and dark and suits me fine. Perhaps I may come back for something else next time but I came at near closing time and the bar was still packed. Lucky to even find one seat. Back to their pastrami steak. You know, it just doesn't work. People eat steak so they can taste steak, no? Would be weird if it tasted like chicken. It's really hard to come back here after my experience because if I want good steak, I go to my usual favorite steak spots. If I want good pastrami, Katz's is the place to go. Hot, sizzling with juices, piled high and under $20.

We're regular visitors to New York to see family and were a party of 6 when we visited American Cut. Overall impression and ambience was fine with one exception (more later): it's expansive, quite masculine in its decor, and noisy: it's not the place you'd choose for a romantic dinner for two(!). Our table service was good, efficient and well paced: we weren't rushed. We all had steaks (filet mignon) with one exception: they were very good but at $75 each (before tax) without sides you'd expect nothing less. We shared side orders: the twice baked potato was excellent. A couple of us tried the funnel cake and it wasn't to our taste: I guess it's one of those things you love or hate. Two negatives. First towards the end of our meal a table across the room started getting very loud (one of them had that high pitched loud laugh that goes right through you): the whole restaurant was groaning. The maitre d' went across to quietened them down but no joy. In the end my wife had to go up to the maitre d' and ask him to do something about it: his response 'well, I have tried' wasn't what we would expect in a restaurant that's positioning ( and charging) itself as one of the best in NYC. Second point is price and overall value for money. With tip it worked out at $120 a head for one and half courses per person (which were mid-range priced options): good food and service, yes: value for money, questionable.

Excellent food and customer service. We had a great experience here in New York. Definitely we will be back soon. Thank you AMerican Cut

I've been here twice now, and both times I've enjoyed it. There's so much steak in NYC that the middle of the menus all blend together. So what sets a steak place apart from me is the other things like service and sides. Service here has been good. On my most recent visit the AC stopped working right before dinner service, and it was a hot, steamy summer evening in NYC. The staff dealt with it professionally and calmly, even buying us an extra round of drinks at the bar while we waited. Our server really pushed the seafood towers pretty hard. They make a respectable wedge salad. But the wild mushrooms and grits is an absolute show-stopper. Dynamite dish. Frankly, it's silly to try to rank steak places in NYC. Those that survive all do basically the same thing, so it comes down to parochialism, which is fine, if not exactly objective. American Cut does the basics and the table stakes things as well as any other steak place I've been too, and better than some. But I'd go back just for the wild mushrooms and grits.

Made a reservation for dinner Friday night. The restaurant is classy and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Had a bottle of wine to start with Tuna tar tot, it was a special menu item that hopefully they add to the regular menu. My husband and I had NY strip that was delicious along with wedge salad, brass knuckle potato’s and mushrooms. Ended with a delicious dessert.

We were looking forward to trying out this steakhouse but given we were made to wait 30 minutes after our reservation time and had to put in two/three requests for updates from staff before being offered our table we decided to leave and find an establishment that can honor their reservation or try their best to make guests comfortable. The staff at this establishment couldn't have cared less about all the waiting customers who had a reservation and were surprised to hear (i would like to reiterate that this is after 30 minutes of waiting) that we would rather leave than ever come back here again.

We had a reservation for Saturday evening dinner for our birthdays! We were not disappointed the food was outstanding, the atmosphere was fantastic. We were dressed smart but not over dressed & felt very comfortable! We will defiantly be back! Thank you

My husband and I had dinner here on a Saturday evening to celebrate a big promotion that he received at work. Our reservations were for 8:45pm so we sat at the bar to have a couple of cocktails. Loved the barrel aged negroni! They sat us at a four top so we wouldn't have to wait longer for a table. Scotty the manager came over to apologize for the delay. We ordered the caesar salad, yellow fine tun, hanger filet, filet mignon. We tried the following sides sunchoked spinach, wild mushrooms with grilled polenta and the potato purer "robuchon". The steaks were cooked perfectly with great seasoning. We chose not to get any of the toppings/sauces feeling that the meat should speak for itself. I LOVED the yellow fin tuna appetizer. Perfect mix of freshness and acidity. The caesar salad was a bit overdressed so I wouldn't recommend it. As for the sides, the wild mushrooms were great, spinach was okay but not memorable and the potato puree just tasted like butter. For dessert my husband tried the candy bar cake with roasted peanut ice cream which he thoroughly enjoyed. A great night out. I would highly recommend American Cut because you can get great steaks and amazing cocktails without the stuffy atmosphere of traditional steakhouses.

For the hype and the price we expected much more. We’ve been to other venues by this owner and loved the experience. At American Cut there’s lots of frenetic energy but it’s empty. The service is a big miss and the food is only mediocre. We had to flag down our waiter to order cocktails when we arrived and then again when we started the meal. Service was slow and anodyne. No charm or personality. We’ve been to Marc’s other places and loved them. This was a big disappointment. Yes it’s a steak place but for a family meal the options for non- meat eaters were poor. Overall we spent lots of money and wanted to leave feeling satisfied. Instead I left thinking “ I need to write a review so other people don’t bother “.

I went here with my family for a nice family dinner. The atmosphere says trendy NYC restaurant but it still maintains that's classy and sophisticated steakhouse feel. Appetizer platter (seafood) was fabulous - it's unique and goes above and beyond your typical seafood raw tower. Steaks were flavorful and delicious. Kudos to the GM Scott and the wait staf (we had Umar-really great) all who were knowledgeable, friendly and followed perfect dining etiquette. All around awesome experience.

Dinner for the entire group of 7 people was excellent!! Every year we travel into NYC to celebrate a friends birthday. This experience was as good as we have enjoyed!!~

The restaurant is comparably small and cozy. Also because of the great service you're immediately feeling good. The list of wines and beers is expressive, but also the prices. We enjoyed a filet mignon - it was very tasty seasoned with an interesting combination of herbes, maybe slightly overlooked. All in all, really a nice steak house, quite expensive, but not on paar with the leading NY steak houses.

I traveled to NYC for a weekend get-a-way and ended up at American Cut two nights in a row. The staff could not be more welcoming from the host to bartender to management. The manager Justin was such a pleasure to talk to and was very proud to show us around the restaurant. The hostess remembered us from the night before. The food, drinks, ambiance and desserts were all amazing! The foie gras appetizer is haunting me because I want to eat it again it was so wonderful. The portions were plentiful and our steaks were cooked perfectly. Love this place!

Busy steak house, favourite with after work office people at power dinners! Steaks are amazing, they give you a massive steak knife which is not really required as the steaks are so tender. Starters are not required as mains are big portions. Not cheap but well worth it. 4 Steaks with 2 deserts (big enough to share) and 4 alcoholic drinks just under $300.

I didn't like the Atmosphere of the place. As for wines, they only have too expensive options and can have better options at more affordable prices. The taste of the food was regular. Nothing exceptional for what you feel like coming back. Very good service. Meat only dry aged but I like cuts without ageing. Prices are generally higher than I think prudent. I'm not coming back.

The food was amazing from start to finish. Fantastic service and presentation. This was the best steak I've ever eaten!

I think not. We went there for dinner. The second we entered the place we were hit by a terrible noise. It is made by mostly men occupying the place or by bad acoustics planning. The waiter was very nice and inviting, but I couldn't hear him and he couldn't hear me . I ordered a New York cut steak. It was bad. It tasted bitter from burned outer part. One of the dishes we ordered didn't arrive at all and was forgotten. We were compensated by free desert which was ok but not specially good . This place is highly rated and is very expensive. I would go there only if it was really cheap.

Great steaks and terrific service. The steaks are quite excellent - cooked perfectly. Being from Texas, we have very high expectations for our beef and American Cut does not disappoint. Don’t miss American Cut on your next visit to Tribeca.

This was good... pretty good, but also expected as it is not a cheap place. And the amount of meat would have been a good-send for my dog.. alas, I wasn't going back home for a few days. Service was attentive, wine decent and the starters were innovative and tasted excellent. If I were with meat lovers, I would definitely go here again.

Had dinner here with colleagues. Cool vibe, awesome decor and fantastic food! I do not eat meat so I had the Halibut en Croute which was fantastic. The other 7 carnivores can't stop talking about the steak

We had dinner here with a group of close friends. Here's our take in a nutshell: The food was average to poor depending on what you ordered, with the steaks being better than the uniformly terrible chicken and seafood dishes. None of us with seafood or chicken finished our entrees. Even the shrimp cocktail appetizer--which should be a standard slam dunk, was strangely flavored. The sides (at an additional $13-$14 each) are likewise indifferent--it takes a special kind of talent to make baked potatoes with cheddar this gooey and tasteless (the asparagus were good, though). The wine list is extensive but with very few choices below $75-$80, at least for reds. The average price is well over $100. The space is large and beautiful, but the music is rock and the volume indefensibly high for a dinner establishment. We could barely hear the people right next to us, let alone across the table. Cost with tip was about $120 per person. There are so, so many better choices in NYC or even the neighborhood for less or equal money. We will never go back voluntarily and recommend against anyone else bothering.

We are sure where to start with this one. Our concierge from Soho Grand suggested American Cut for dinner. We always eat early so it was awesome to show up and be greeted by all the staff. It felt like we were on Below Deck boarding the yacht. The food was amazing and the best we have had in a long time, by a long shot! Where this restaurant shines though the brightest is the service and the employees that make it run efficiently while remaining personal. Shout outs - Russ was an amazing server. He is super knowledgeable about the menu, made excellent suggestions, took time to explain everything but most importantly addressed us as humans rather than service numbers at a table. If we owned a restaurant, he would be our number 1 hire. We cannot say enough great things about him and talked about him most of last night after the meal. The other staff that made our dinner special were Emma the Assistant GM, Naz and Cesar! We will be back next time we are in New York City. We really hope American Cut realizes the value they have in their staff. We haven’t been to an establishment with this personal of a service in the city. Thank you soooo much! Very highly recommend.

Four couples went for Restaurant week. Seven of us ordered off the Restaurant week menu. One for dietary reasons ordered from the regular menu. Of all the varied apps only the Pork Belly is worth mentioning, it was quite good. The Ceasar Salad and Bisque were only fair. The Tuna off the regular menu was deemed very good. The Filet Mignon was tiny and not seasoned. For desert the Bread Pudding was really Just Molten Chocolate cake. The Cracker Jack Sundae was very good. All dishes were served warm, nothing was hot except for the Bread, and that was the best part of the dinner. From the time we sat down, till we left, we felt rushed. One of our group actually had her plate taken away as she had her fork in her mouth. Even after asking servers to slow down they still rushed us. While we were there only one third of the tables were filled.

Sorry that I could not write a better review for this restaurant. The food was average, service was bad and the music was deafening. Our service started out exceptional. First for our cocktails and then ordering our food. After that it went downhill. We did not see her again until we ask d someone if they could find her so we could pay. She was glad to leave the bill with no apologies. And no thank you for the 20% tip we left. We ordered the porterhouse for two and latkes. They were average for a good NYC steakhouse. The extremely loud music was horrible. Hard rock or something similar. Couldn't wait to get outside. The traffic noise was relaxing.

Good steakhouse in TriBeCa. Steaks were a little fatty and a bit overpriced even for NY city Standards. Sides were done very well.

Go there. Never ever had so good tasting meet and lobster. Perfect surf & turf! And very friendly and professionell staf.

We came here on a recommendation from a nice fella called Frank who we met in New York one day whilst out shopping, I asked him for advice on a non chain steak house, he recommended this place and what a place it was, the food was fantastic the steak and chilli lobster were to die for, would definitely recommend this restaurant, all staff were fantastic and knowledgeable about their menu. Fantastic meal and great night many thanks

All round a very good experience - good quality steak and a decent selection of other things. Service on our visit was a bit slow but all very friendly.

American Cut is a prototypical NYC establishment that sells a vibe before anything else...and that vibe is dark. Not dim but DARK! It was like a dungeon. I've never understood this, maybe it's a way to keep decor costs in check...whatever it is I hate it. Turn some lights on! Drinks - they pour a nice drink here. Service was prompt and energetic. Food - I had a pastrami spiced ribeye. Probably not the best choice considering I had a hot pastrami sandwich at the Mecca of all pastrami at Katz Deli earlier in the day, but I digress. The steak paled in comparison to the "real deal". It didn't have anything that gave me the hint of pastrami. American Cut, Why is it that you feel a steak is better charred on the outside. Charred is another word for burned. My steak was dry, overcooked and the accompanying bernaise sauce wasn't hot, it was kinda congealed...gross. Wait staff - perfunctory is the word that comes to mind. Nothing memorable. Low on personality - just ...meh... Overall - nothing compels me to want to go again. Perhaps the location in Midtown is better. A million other places to try before I venture back.

We went on a Friday, with 7:30pm reservations. We arrived early and had drinks at the very well attended bar. There were happy hour choices for both drinks and appetizers. Although the restaurant itself was not crowded initially, it filled up completely. The bread is amazing! The chili lobster sauce was so good you could put it on almost anything and enjoy it. We shared the porterhouse, twice baked potatoes and Brussel sprouts. All we're good. The Carmel popcorn sundae was to die for. The best part of the meal however was our waiter, Jarod. He was funny, outgoing and made suggestions throughout the evening. Make sure you ask to be seated in his section.

Having enjoyed a stunning meal here last year, I chose American cut TriBeCa to be my first dinner of my New York holiday. Booked online and after my flight I walked into the restaurant for my 815 confirmed reservation, which I made online around 730pm On arrival I was told (in a most dismissive tone) that 'we are running behind tonight so feel free to take a seat at the bar"' which I duly did. Was offered a drink after 15 mins waiting. At 830 I asked front desk what time my table would be ready and was told by the officious and rude front desk girl: " I really don't know...could be 30-45 mins but I can't confirm either way..". I mean, are you serious? Why did you take my booking for 815pm if you couldn't fit me in at that time? Hoping I would spend a few hundred at the bar before you seated me? Trying not to spoil my good holiday karma I asked the barman if I could eat in the bar area. He then told me I could, yet "please be aware it could take a very long time to get you served as this is the bar area not the main restaurant". Major fail given I had a booking So, walked out at 840 Such a shame that good New York restaurants become arrogant, disorganised and greedy MAJOR FAIL

Best meal on our trip. Absolutely wonderful steak cooked perfectly and so generous as a guest of the Quin, they sent us a caramel and vanilla sundae on the house that was to die for. They were so nice. Friendly. Delicious. I highly recommend this place!

There's a certain type of New York steak place: expensive, somewhat intimidating (in the waiters' arcane knowledge of cuts), trying to load you up with ridiculously-filling appetizers, often gloomy, and full of salarymen braying about their latest sale. This is none of these. It's elegant (a nice 1920s type vibe), boisterous, full of families (admittedly this was on Christmas Eve), friendly (the wait staff are personable and approachable), reasonably priced (limited starters!), yet serves a superb steak and (mostly) doesn't cost the earth. (NB This rule does not hold to the wine list, which was eye-wateringly expensive, with most bottles $100+, so stick to wines by the glass.) We arrived in time to take advantage of the happy hour (the signature plank-smoked Old Fashioned are recommended!). Great bar, which might be worth a separate visit. Quickly seated, attentive, unpretentious and gracious service; excellent food. This is definitely worth your to-do list if you want a great steak without the fuss.

Your place for a great steak! Yes its expensive but the food is amazing, we loved it! The wine selection is great! The wit staff is as good as any place I have been to. The bar scene is quite but cool. On street parking if you are lucky! Save room for desert!!!

Truly wonderful experience. The service was top notch, thanks to Enrique. The food was exceptional. One of the best NYC dining experiences.

Must say,the best tasting steak I ever had!!! The steak was soft n juicy, lobster was perfectly cooked.the ambience was gr8 and above all they made me feel very welcome n paid lots of attention .. I will see go back to American Cut Steakhouse.

Our hotel recommended as we were looking for steak and fish and so glad they did! Seated on time, in a quaint area (maitre d’ was personable too). Menu is enticing and our waiter, Russ was top notch and helped us with our choices. My friends filet was the best she’s ever had and my tuna tar “tot” was fresh and excellent, our other dish was halibut and we could have licked the bowl with the delicious sauce. Sides dishes were plenty and wine was excellent. We would return for sure, the place has a special vibe to it and great energy!

Recomended by our hotel concierge as very good steakhouse we found nice atmosphere even old fashion... good service , we ordered a porterhouse. Meat not really outstanding and finally a check not in line with the level of food and wine.

We visited American cut yesterday and 3 of our party had the $38 NYC restaurant menu and one had the normal menu all the food was amazing there was no difference in quality of food on the cheaper menu staff were excellent can't recommend this place enough an absolute gem

We were invited here by some local friends who raved about this place and I can see why! Top notch service, atmosphere, and food! We had a fantastic server who’s name I’ve regrettably forgotten. The steaks and sides were remarkable. All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at this remarkable restaurant

I admit we went with great expectations. We did not have a starter as the steaks were large. We shared a side, that was great. I had the NY Strip lion, medium rare. It was tasty, but had lots of gristle. For the price, I expected better. The wine selection was incredible, if you like $500+ bottles of wine, but if you just want a good table red to go with your steak, you have to pay over $100 for a bad bottle of wine. Great atmosphere and location, but not cheap and far from the best steak in NYC.

The only complaint I have is the biscuits. They're very dull. The lobster chilli is soooo good. The service is 5 star.

Have been there several times and I think the bar menu is better than the regular menu. Service is good. Good wine list. I am not a huge steak person so almost always eat in the bar section which is quite large. Great place to go for drinks after work with colleagues.

Came here for Thanksgiving dinner and couldn't fault a thing excellent food excellent service will defo be back x

My husband and I ate at American Cut to celebrate his birthday. Very disappointing. We arrived for a 7:00pm reservation and were seated downstairs. We were the only guests in the dining room yet were seated at a cramped banquette table, even though there were spacious corner tables set for two available. When we were the only guests at the restaurant, our server was attentive and helpful and the food arrived quickly. Once others were seated, we were basically forgotten about. We ordered the chili lobster and the oysters to start. Both were delicious. For the main, we ordered the porter house steak for two, which cost $160. I mention the price because that was too high a price tag for the fatty, gristly, charred, and under seasoned steak we received. To top it all off, I called ahead of time to let the restaurant know that we were celebrating a birthday. The dessert came without a candle or any mention of a “happy birthday.” This ending seemed fitting to an at times underwhelming, but mostly annoyingly subpar evening. For the hefty price tag that accompanied this evening, we will never go back and instead will choose to eat at one of the many high quality neighboring restaurants.

Finally! - in NYC for our honeymoon - one full year delayed. A short walk from our hotel is the American Cut - dimly lit on the outside, we walked right passed the entrance - so be alert!, We had a reservation and were seated without delay. Our waiter (Adrien) was absolutely fantastic! He answered our questions, made recommendations for sides and the perfect red wine! The entire wait staff was professional and personable - we felt like VIPs! The opening salvo is a warm, flaky biscuit that comes with an out-of-this-world spread. From the appetizer menu, as we couldn't make up our minds, we selected both the crab cake and grilled bacon. The crab cake remoulade and the grilled corn took this to next level. No one does this. And the grilled Schaller & Weber bacon - thank you for gilling that with steak sauce. But the reason we went was for steak - and American Cut did not disappoint! Our NY Strips were melt-in-our-mouths flavorful and tender. Each steak was cooked to perfection - mine a lite pink medium rare and my husband's medium well. Each bite delivered juicy full steak flavor. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Our waiter recommended the special side for that evening - Lobster Mac n Cheese - and it proved to be REAL mac n cheese - full flavored and creamy - with chunks of sweet lobster meat. We added Maitake Hen of the Woods and Jalapeno Mashed potatoes. Each side delivered on flavor and texture. We ended our meal with a Cracker Jack Sundae, courtesy of Adrien to congratulate us on our wedding!

My son and I had an early dinner at American Cut on a Friday evening. We had a 6:00pm reservation (Open Table) and showed up at 5:30pm. The host sat us within a few minutes. Our server, Chelsea, was extremely attentive, well spoken and very professional. My son had the tuna appetizer and I had the Steak Knife Wedge. The blue cheese dressing and bacon made the wedge very flavorful with a slight bite. We both ordered the filet mignon which was served perfectly cooked (medium rare). We shared two side dishes; kale sauteed in garlic and oil with bacon and wild mushrooms with grilled polenta. Both sides were excellent and the bacon made the kale delicious. We finished our dinner with a cappucino and #43 (after dinner drink). Our water glasses (NYC tap, of course) were refilled several times. Pricey, but it is a Manhattan steak restaurant.

I was definitely disappointed with American Cut, given how much I enjoy Forgione. The steak was decent, but nothing innovative. The sides were kind of greasy. Had the bone barrow appetizer, yellowtail tuna, potatoes and split an order of steak. It was average food. Service was good. The atmosphere is not fun. Definitely designed to be a business oriented restaurant.

On our regular steak house visits we tried AC which came highly recommended. Beautiful but very loud bar setting when you walk in. The hostess was very nice and attentive. A beautiful dinning room much quieter. Incredible attentive service. Very interesting menu but missing some of the classical steak items. Food was slightly different but very good. Its a NY steakhouse with a twist. The bar menu pretzel incredible. Will be back.

When I went it was restaurant week, but two of us ordered off the regular menu. I asked if the price fix (restaurant week) steak was the same size as the regular menu. They answered if was half the size. The food was only fair, and it was very expensive. I ordered off the regular menu. I believe they gave me the price fix filet, as it was the same size, or even smaller than my friend's who ordered price fix. Additionally, it was fatty and tough. It was NOT a great steakhouse filet. The wedge salad was eh. I will not go back. While restaurant week is supposed to be a treat for guests, and an incentive to try a place, I think American cut compromised our entire experience.

We had dinner here for our wedding anniversary. While we enjoyed the filet mignon and the short ribs, the caesar salad and braised romesco were okay but not memorable. Definitely stick to wine by the glass as the bottles are REALLY overpriced. Love the atmosphere and the server was attentive; however, they didn't acknowledge our anniversary even though I noted it in our Open Table reservation. We've been there twice for dinner and I think we've "done it" and probably won't return.

I visited this place with a group of male colleagues and absolutely loved it! Very stylish steak house in TriBeCa with good service. We had oysters, chilli lobster and bone marrow for starters. I only trend the chilli lobster, but that was spectacular. The sauce was so delicious! Everyone else loved the other starters. Then we had two tomahawks and a porterhouse steak. To say they were cooked to perfection is an understatement. I've rarely had a steak cooked so beautifully. Loved the latkes, asparagus and spinach sides. As if that wasn't enough we shared two chocolate desserts! Left with a claorie overload and a big smile!

Seven friends had dinner here last night. The oysters and shrimp cocktails to start were very nice. The wedge salad was weird looking, but tasted fine. The dry-aged ribeye were lovely. The sides, which are a la carte, were very good, but smaller than normal prime steak house sides. Typical of big-name steakhouses, there are no bargains on the wine list.

Was in American cut for drinks and got a bit peckish so decided to have some dinner there Staff were friendly and kept me well oiled. The steak was good but I was not impressed with my side of fries at all.

There are a lot of fine dining steak houses in midtown Manhattan, and most of them are very good. They all have similar menus and white tables cloths, and a loud bar. They're also about the same money. American Cut distinguished itself in a couple of ways that weren't great. First, they had some very interesting cuts of steak that were really expensive. Like the Tomahawk cut, or the 40 day aged porterhouse. There were a few that were between $150 and $200, but they were good for two, Still, that's more than most of the other guys charge. But there were plenty here for about $45-$50. The wine list was substantial, but there were only like 3 bottles under $100. Many were really over priced. The $120 bottle we got retailed for $40. That's a steep markup. I never thought about BYOB before, but this place will make me consider it if I return. The food and the wine were quite good. It was just more expensive than the other places and it didn't need to be.

Great place to dine in beautiful, buzzy Tribeca. We sat outside and made it for a portion of happy hour, an unexpected bonus. Gorgeous luxe setting, attentive and professional waitstaff, perfect steakhouse menu. Priced as you'd expect but it's quality in spades here. Only suggestion is they consider ditching the ipad winelist. ADA. Wouldn't bring kids. Likely could dine outside with your support pup but call first. Reservation strongly suggested.

Marc Forgione's third restaurant in close proximity to one another in super-chic Tribeca, this one being a contemporary spin on a classic steakhouse. As you might expect, it's not cheap, but the food is exceptional, and the service is outstanding. Classics updated with some original preparations, and exceptional cuts of meat, including Waygu beef from Japan. My nephew had it for his birthday. It's a treat, all right, at $190 for the serving! But what a pleasure, beef so soft it practically melts on contact. You'll be dreaming of this long after you recover from the sticker-shock. I had the more modest (about $56) duck, which was also a delight, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The appetizer of Long Island Sound scallops were perfect - grilled for seconds to a golden hue. Our waiter was truly excellent - attentive without being over-bearing, genial without being overly casual or familiar. He had excellent suggestions on pairings of entrees and appetizers, and his wine recommendations were perfect. My only quibble is one I have with lots of pricey palaces these days - cocktails remain sky-high expensive, while the glasses get smaller. Martinis come in coupe glasses formerly used for champagne toasts. We didn't order desserts, but the waiter still brought us an amusing post-meal treat. A truly memorable meal, in a gorgeous room, with superb service. Costly, but so worth it for a perfect birthday dinner.

The food is excellent. They cook the steaks exactly the way you request them. The sea salt on the top makes every bite that much more mouth watering. The service is superb. Friendly quick and knowledgable. The decor is interesting since it has an Art Deco feel. The sides are interesting and not your everyday steak fare. Asparagus and egg, a single carrot candied the potatoes are also unique. I would make sure that you inquire about the sides since they are not very robust on side portions. I would recommend going just remember prices are not for the faint of heart.

Having dinner with family. The is a class a establishment. The ceaser salad is fresh and made at the table - excellent. As a side dish we took the potato puree and the broccoli & cheddar : wonderful. As main course - take whatever, you don't regret.

We were fortunate to be in town for restaurant week. The bar had happy hour from 5p.m. until 7. The drink special were a wonderful start to our evening. The prix fix menu was wonderful. The oysters with a cheese were out of this world. The .Caesar salad prepared in front of us was delicious. We both ordered the pastrami spiced flank steak which was perfectly prepared and quite tasty. The spinach side was the most delicious spinach I have every tasted. Popcorn sundae was the finale and it was very different and a perfect ending to a perfect meal.

Starting with the positives... - The food. The food was great, we had steak and spare ribs. Both delicious. Both HUGE. (A little too much to be honest!) - The setting. Lovely restaurant, looks very nice, great for a celebration. - Great location. Easy to book. The negatives... - It is expensive : over $240 for 2 (we did not ave starters, we shared a dessert and did not order the most expensive dishes either) - A bottle of still water is $10 - There was no offer of taking our coats upon arrival - Too many waiters. Over attentive. One was absolutely brilliant, very funny too. Another one (which seemed to be a head-waiter) was over-attentive and not very pleasant. He asked us if we wanted some bread and we said no. Then another waiter brought us some nibbles (which were huge and looked great!). We were looking forward to eating them but the unpleasant waiter came over to take them away... - We asked if we could order a side salad (to the unpleasant waiter). His immediate reply was ''no''. We were very surprised, especially as they have a few salads on the menu. He categorically refused to serve us a side salad so we ordered a main. - The chocolate cake was absolutely huge. We shared it between the 2 of us but it was a portion suited best for 3 or 4 people. And we were told it used to be even larger. Such a waste. It was also very dry. This restaurant is a mixed bag. Over a week in NY, we went to numerous places, one of which was in my opinion better and considerably cheaper. American Cut Tribeka wants to be very posh, high level, fine dining, but it fails to deliver on several points, especially not offering to take our coats and the over-over-attentive service. Such a shame but the steak and ribs were excellent and probably the best ribs I have had in a restaurant. Portions should be reduced with a smaller price tag.

With all the good to great steak restaurants in New York City, particularly Manhattan, I am embarrassed to say that I fell into the infamous bad-steak-trap that I used to think was strictly reserved for tourists. Well, shame on me. Believing the hype from friends who I thought knew the deal, my wife and I met some friends here for dinner. I won't bore you with mundane details such as the service being pitifully slow. It was. The real problem was with the meal itself. My wife and I ordered the porterhouse steak for two. Before it arrived, our party had some drinks, appetizers, and were enjoying the whole experience. That all came to an end with the arrival of our meal. I looked at that piece of garbage and was at a total loss for words. The conversation was continuing all around us as my friends were oblivious to my plight. I had stopped being an active participant as I was more concerned as to what my next move should be. Should I rightfully send this poor excuse for a meal back and perhaps create an air of negativity in the proceedings? Well, I didn't, although I should have. So my wife and I stoically dug in as I'm thinking about $110 that I just threw into the toilet. I'm wondering what the chef in the kitchen thought as he took this slab of junk and put it on the grill. He had to see what it looked like beforehand and knew that it wasn't fit for human consumption. But did it stop him or cause him to make another selection? Of course not. He was probably thinking, "These stupid people will eat this crap because it's expensive so they'll think it's good." And the waitress, after observing my wife and I cutting away all the fat and grizzle, never once came over to ask if everything was okay (There's never a cop around when you need one). She knew, just by looking at our plates, that nothing positive was going on there. Had my wife and I ordered two White Castle hamburgers apiece, we would have had more edible meat than this porterhouse offered us. Unfortunately, only a New Yorker can fully understand that "White Castle" reference. So for you out-of-towners who I hope might read this, White Castle hamburgers are so small that you have to eat ten of them to satisfy any hunger pangs. What a ripoff! As I said earlier, I am embarrassed that I fell into this joint. Of all the steakhouses in Manhattan...oh, well. Lesson learned. I did a touristy thing and got treated like a tourist. Someone just passing through who the management will never see again. I say that not to put tourists down but because they don't know any better. I thought I did. Well, I am one New Yorker who will never go back to this place and will tell all my friends -- expecially the ones who recommended this place to me -- not to go there either. If I had a dog, I wouldn't give that dog the meal that was served to us for fear that its veterinarian would call the police and have me arrested for cruel and inhuman treatment of an unsuspecting animal. Needless to say, the evening was ruined because of this dining experience. I wouldn't mind spending $100 for a hamburger, but it damn well better taste like a $100 hamburger. Enough said.

Tribeca has a number of steakhouses. This one was such a surprise. The quality of the meat was outstanding, + so perfectly cooked, and plenty of yummy side options. Wait staff is great...no attitude. Excellent wines + drinks. Steak dinner is expensive where ever you go. this place is perfect!

The seafood tower was well worth the expense. All of the sides were delicious. I ordered the scallops which were very tasty. The lime meringue pie is fun to see and eat. It is an expensive outing. There is no children's menu.

Let me start by saying that I am a meat enthusiast, therefore I consider myself a connoisseur of places of this kind. I chose this place as it was mentioned in a ranking of the best steak houses in the world, precisely the third (worldbeststeaks) Without too many frills, here is my evaluation: - Service: good, even if they lost points at the very last moment, i.e. the girl at the entrance to the club had disappeared at the end of the evening, I had to wait for the waiter to return the coats - beverage: good wine (Argentine Malbec) 75 dollars (expensive, but it fits in NY) - meat: Kc bone in strip and NY strip, excellent quality, very tender, tasty, well cooked inside (medium doneness required), in my opinion too cooked on the surface - side dishes: good - water: excessively expensive even if we are in NY (14 dollars) - dessert: good crème brûlée, in my opinion there was a bit too much egg - location: welcoming, background music too loud and the buzz of the people present annoying - Conclusions: a place worth trying for those who don't have spending problems, however in my opinion it absolutely does not deserve third place worldwide in the aforementioned ranking. As mentioned, I am a meat enthusiast, I came to this place because I often go to a restaurant (Asina Luna) in Peschiera Borromeo (Milan) which ranks 66th in the same ranking. Having tried both, I must say without any shadow of a doubt that I would reverse the positions in favor of the latter, in terms of quality of meat and cooking, location (low volume background music and less buzz) and service (of meat and description of the same) . I underline that I have no interest in advertising Asina Luna, in fact I would like anyone who wants to try it to share their objections with me.

Some of the best service I’ve had in NYC in the past 2+ years. Food was delicious and on point, with a decent specials list of creative options.

This was probably one of the best steaks I have ever had. Te preparation was perfect and the sides were absolutely wonderful. It is not an inexpensive evening, but well worth the money.

Best steak ever I have had was at Keg in Toronto but I thought New York would beat that. Service was hit and miss and I was delighted to see carrots on the menu. I didn’t realise it would be a whole carrot with some sauce on it. Overall an average experience for a high price. Never mind paying top dollar but do expect a lot more for it which didn’t happen here.

As far as steakhouses go, this modern version holds its own. The tomahawk cuts for two are the way to go. The sides were very tasty. I recommend the mash potatoes, which have a fantastic garlic flavor. The cocktail shrimp are not exactly what you would expect, but the lobster appetizer is very good.

We had the best meal at American Cut. The food was delicious and they treated us like we were special. The staff is outstanding. Try a local beer!

The food and ambience truly deserve kudos - 4 of us had 4 different cuts of steak and every some was melt in the mouth perfect. The sides are plentiful and I'd suggest sharing. My only complaint is the price of the wine - When I see a bottle of ice wine that I have in my home which was purchased for about 30 dollars selling for 450 a bottle it makes me crazy. I understand people clearly pay but the wines were so expensive (only a few bottles under 100 and most in the 200-400 range). The cost of the food was all expected and typical of the establishment. The steak ...still taking about how good it was!

Flown in after 24 hours from West Africa. You canimagine the desire for a good ol'bone in ribeye with a nice cabernet. I cannot pin point exactly what did not hit the spot - but it was a combination of a few things. A very long wait for the seafood tray to come out - nothing to cook, yet it dragged despite reminders. The wine list was x4 of a mark up. The anticipation for the cowboy ribeye was high and unfortunately between my beef loving Son & I - it did not fit the memory of what we have enjoyed in other steak houses in the US and outside. A pretty expensive evening and not worth the visit.

There are many great restaurants in Tribeca that we know well, but American Cut was a first time for my husband and I. My son and his wife joined us, they live in the neighborhood and are, as many young professionals like them, very familiar with the best Tribeca has to offer. American Cut is newer to the neighborhood and was fully booked the night we were there. It is quite an impressive place, with great ambience, sophisticated, high end dining. We were promptly seated and our drinks arrived shortly. The menu is extensive enough for a fancy steak house, with the choices of the meat wet aged (21 days) or dry aged (30 days). We all started with salad, one of us had the Knife Wedge with blue cheese, the others had Ceasar - prepared at the table - the house specialty. Excellent, as well as entertaining. My husband enjoyed the oysters. All steak orders that followed were superb, as expected. I had the fillet that was beautifully seared - done to perfection. We ordered several sauces on offer Bernaise and Au poivre, and various potatoes sides and vegetables - all extra orders. Interestingly - as if not to spoil the steak, nothing is used as garnish. My filet mignon was served on a large plate, looking a bit dry. But it turned out to be perfectly seared, delicious and with all the extras "on the side" quite filling. I do not remember any of the desserts we ate that night as stand outs - but I am sure that they were great too. It's been a week of wining and dining in the area's best restaurants, and I have waited a little too long with the reviews. The service was attentive, and we all felt that we were well taken care off that night. We will be in town next week again, so may return to see the restaurant all decked out for Christmas.

If you want really good steaks and short ribs, this is the place to go. The music is a bit loud, but that minor bug fades when the food is presented to you. We were a large party so there was a variety of food. All of it, without exception was really good. The desserts were also very nice, the Cheesecake was so light and tasty. The popcorn ice-cream was a novelty that was quickly finished and re ordered.

Enjoyed a holiday and appreciation dinner w colleagues. Steak was excellent and the sides were even better. Service was excellent. Definitely a loud restaurant though. Do not expect a quiet romantic dinner.

Had a business meeting at the restaurant with about 10 people. Enjoyed the atmosphere and had very good service. The appetizers and entree’s were very good. The only slight draw back was the price. The food was very good, but for the price, I would expect exceptional.

On a busy Friday night, with a fully-booked restaurant, the staff was very attentive and aware of every little thing, like the water and wine levels in my glasses and the crumbs on the table, which were wiped out after the starter. My waiter, David, was knowledgeable of all the menu's selections, knew what to recommend, and was friendly and smily all along the evening. But not only that- the restaurant manager, Ennio, dropped-by twice, and not only to me- every table was approached by him, showing real interest, and the restaurant is huge with many tables, so this shows real dedication from his side. The staff is very well coordinated. The food itself is great- I had a roasted beets salad with gost cheese for starter, Fillet Mignon with the chef Dan's special potatoes with mushrooms and bacon (and I also found there leek, which was not mentioned in the menu but added a lot to the red wine sauce) and creamy spinach, together with Australian Shiraz/Cabernet red wine. For desert I had the pumpkin creme brulee doughnuts with white chocolate and cranberries ice cream. Portions are large and their size and quality justifies the price.

Most people think of New York restaurants as a cattle-call and a certain "we don't care attitude". This is certainly NOT what you will find at America Cut. Their service is second to none. Probably one of the best in Manhattan. This review is NOT based on a one time occurrence but 4 times in the past month. Early dinner on a Tuesday night, late dinner on a Friday and Saturday nights, no matter how busy the place is, the staff moves as if they were on roller skates. They certainly go the extra mile and they truly want you to have a phenomenal culinary experience. I would strongly recommend the Wagyu beef, or the short ribs which come served in a beautiful Le Creuset pot. The food quality is outstanding and the mixologists (aka: bartenders are very creative with their specialty drinks. The wine list is also very good but certainly try their specialty drinks over the wines by the glass as they tend to be a bit pricey. Overall an excellent restaurant and I would recommend it to everyone, foodies included.

Friendly staff and warm welcoming. Great location, decor and interiors. Good selection of food and cuts. Food is well seasoned and served at the right temperature by friendly staff. We will back!

This is a great place for steak. I have dinned here several times and have not been disappointed. Service and food is excellent. Nice bar area. Great wine selection. Dig the music they play, i think they told my iPod.

There were 12 adults in our party. 9 of us had been to a Yankees game that afternoon and it was a very hot and humid day. After showering etc we walked to American Cut from Marriott East. We liked the decor which is fashioned like an older style steakhouse. The complaints we have are the restaurant is very noisy, which we thought was from patrons as it was fairly full, however after several tables departed we noted that it was the volume of the music. Our waiter said he had no control. Our waiter, Andrei, spoke rapidly and with an accent, thus communications with a large table were difficult. The steaks were truly outstanding, we had both the porterhouse anf the tomahawk ribeye, as well as filets and lamb chops. The Caesar and Wedge were likewise excellent, the chophouse salad was disappointing. The sides were very good but not overly large as in some steakhouses. This rating and description is the consensus of 12 adults.

Had the NY strip. For the price, I expected better steak, rather tasteless. Asked for salt, which was forgotten once from the waiter. The place played too loud music, for my taste. My vote on the best steak in NYC goes to Minetta Tavern.

Had a fantastic meal here on Monday evening, a very warm day in NY and so a visit to the bar here was very welcome. enjoyed a couple of cold cocktails before sitting down to eat in their lovely restaurant. surroundings, food, wine and service all absolutely fantastic. Perfect location and a really enjoyable evening. I could not fault one thing about the whole experience.

First impression was that it was a bit noisy for a restaurant, but this was just the bar area. The actually restaurant is further back which has a good dining atmosphere and is a stylish setting. Wine list is very good, but expensive, no US pinot that I remember for under $100, but the head sommelier was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, so in some was the price is justified. My streak was good, not great, lacking a little bit of flavour, but still nice. The various sides my group ordered were all very good. The service all round was excellent. Overall would have no hesitation in recommending.

We had arrived 15 minutes early for our 8:30 p.m. reservation. Checked in and had a drink at the bar. Bartender was very friendly and knowledgable in cocktails making. It was fun to watch him making various cocktails. Our table was not ready by 8:45 p.m. So my husband went to check on it. The lady at the reception was very apologetic and offered to buy us another round of drinks. Tomahawk steak topped with froie gras was out of this world! The whipped potato and creamed spinach sides were divine as well. Popcorn ice cream dessert was so delicious! We saw Frank from American Pickers at the next table. It made my husband's evening! On the way out, the restaurant manager apologized again for the delay. Have not seen this level of service in some time.

Very warm, cute and cozy restaurant. Smily faces. Tasty food. Tasty wine. Good service and hospitality. I like it.

My other half and I have been wanting to try American Cut for a while, and we decided to go for dinner last night. We arrived a few minutes early for our table and grabbed a drink at the bar. The bartender was friendly and service was prompt and impeccable. Pros: Bone-in Strip S & W Bacon Oysters Brussel Sprouts Maître d’hôtel butter Cons (and I'll explain why): Steak Tartare Mac n Cheese Au Poivre We ordered the dishes note above and our waiter was super hospitable and service was completely on point. We started with oysters, steak tartare and the bacon. The oysters were delicious and the bacon was melt-in-your-mouth good. I will have dreams about that bacon for a while. The steak tartare was a bit of a letdown. On a good note, it was high quality meat and the grind was perfect. American cut has their own play on a tartare and while its usually served with an egg yolk at other restaurants, here it was served with a warm sunny side egg and their potato "toast" were hash browns. The warm egg and the cold meat did not meld well together and it felt like you were eating room temperature mush. Additionally, the meat didn't have any seasoning and the combination of the meat, egg, and potato ended up being extremely greasy. On to the main courses. We ordered a bone in strip with the maître d butter and au poivre, the mac and cheese du jour, and the brussel sprouts roasted with honey and prosciutto. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the maitre d butter was awesome. The sprouts were also fantastic, charred just right with a touch of sweet and salty. The au poivre had zero flavor. Onto the Mac n Cheese and why this review received four stars. The Mac n Cheese was at market price. I have no problems with a dish at market price, but it had no lobster, no truffles, and no bacon. It was a good mac, but not fantastic. Nothing to set it apart or justify the cost. When a Mac n Cheese ($25) costs more on the bill then my glass of single malt scotch ($23), it's not worth it. Hence, I took a star off for the au poivre, tartare, and mac. Go for the steak though, it’s fantastic.

Went for drinks. Let's make this short and tiny like their overpriced drinks. Also how stingy can you get-not a peanut or pretzel. When we asked we were given the appetizer menu by some airhead. Go to the Pierre bar and you get delicious nuts and olives. Go to the Polo Bar and you get glazed nuts, fried olives and homemade chips. the drinks are in parity for cost, but Cut's are half the size. Skip this place entirely.

Went here with a mate on his recommendation on a recent visit to NYC, great place had the spicy lobster bisque to start which was amazing great flavours.Service was great and the venue equally as good.Extensive wine list and top class red meat what more would you want.

The filet. Blah, blah, blah. It's all been said before, but melt in your mouth texture, wonderful taste, perfect temperature. I chose the au poivre sauce, while my wife chose the bearnaise. Both delicious. Brussel sprouts with prosciutto. Blah, blah, blah. Praises to high cookery. I am a brussel sprout snob (one doesn't read that often). These were top two. Unbelievable. I could have made a meal of them. Wild mushrooms with grits. Blah, blah, blah. Grits? Yes. Dont miss this side. Trust me. Decor. See the picture. Tasteful art decor. Inviting. Comfortable. (The only item that goes with out a superlative review was the AC. It was a little cold, but we were there early, before the place got hoping.) Service. Perfect. Available, observant, knowledge, but not in our faces every 5 minutes checking with is. Don't miss this place. If you can find fault, perhaps you should only eat at home.

The service was excellent - the apps and side good, the steak though under seasoned and not a great cut either - there are several better options to get a great steak in this city!

I went here while on a business trip in NYC. This was a real treat. We ordered a lot of items and shared them family style. My favorite apps were the steak tartare and foie gras brulee. The bone-marrow and chili lobster were also very good. As for the steak, you can't go wrong with the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Beef. I love Wagyu and this was a great example of the low temp melt point of the Wagya marbling that makes it melt in your mouth. I was surprised though, to be most impressed by the New York City Cut. This dry aged 20 oz bone-in ribeye has a crust of pastrami spices which gives the steak such a unique flavor that we were all raving about. Definitely give this one a try.

We where recommended American Cut by our hotel, and we where not disappointed. We cane around 8PM - a bit concerned about the level of noice in the restaurant, since a couple of the tables had typical loud business dinners. Fortunately, they left around 9pm. A wide selection of starters is offered, and the meat is really among the best I have ever tasted. The wine list is huge and offers everything form affordable Cianti to classic famous Bordeaux chateau´s. If I have the chance to come back - I will!

Pastrami steak is the specialty . The one time I got it , it was almost raw, I didn't like it at all. I think the place is ok but just ok. Very overrated

We ate here to celebrate a graduation - I requested a quiet (er) table where we could talk and our group of 7 was ushered in to a private back room with a huge table. We were overwhelmed. We had great service - the waiter was very attentive without being over-present. We had a small discussion about the wines, and he brought over a couple to try without being asked! The starters were delicious. We tried the Jim Brady oysters, served warm with a wonderful savory topping. Our steaks were done to perfection, and the side dishes also excellent. The broccoli and cheese was interesting, as crispy cheddar bits replaced the usual gloppy sauce. Twice baked potato also wonderful. Oh - and the biscuits they served before dinner were just exceptional, full of herbs and very flaky. But of course we came for the steaks - and these were done to perfection. One in our party ordered the sole, that, too was a hit. Desserts were a little disappointing, the carrot cake was kind of spongy and the popcorn sunday thing seemed gimmicky. But overall it was a terrific meal in a very nice setting. We will be back.

Love this place. This is the 2nd time I've been here and it's at the top of my list for steakhouses in NYC. The staff have always been pleasant, friendly, and attentive and -- most importantly -- the food has been phenomenal. On this occasion, my girl and I shared two appetizers (Tuna Tar Tot and the Seabass Ceviche) and both were amazing. The Tar Tot is so good as a sort of layer cake of flavors and textures -- tuna and a wasabi based cream/sauce sit on top of a perfectly fried hash brown patty. The ceviche was sooo fresh and love that it's served with a plantain for dipping/scooping/mopping (I recommend the scooping option). For dinner I had the Pastrami Rib Eye (which was a step down from the 40oz Tomahawk I shared with a friend on my first visit; it was unsalted and a bit burnt on the edges) but after using the accompanied mustard I liked it very much. My girl had the filet which was perfectly cooked and exactly what you'd expect from a world class steak house. We got the Mac and cheese du jour (and on this day, it was a three cheese blend) which was some of the best Mac and cheese I've had at a steak house. Loved that the pasta was al dente' -- that put it over the top for me. Will definitely return hungry!

Went to business dinner with a big hungry guys that love steaks. We were not disappointed!. From the outside the small black door is misleading. When you get in it is a big dining place. On the formal side but our waiter was great. Got steaks and steaks! was tender well cooked and wonderful! Side dishes are old fashioned ones but if you love good steak or filet mignon thats a great place. On the pricy side but excellent

I cannot recommend it at all. As a starter I decided for tuna for 26 US Dollars. 4 thin salty slices came on a plastic dish. The tuna has been ,,slayed" with salt and chilly. I ordered as an entree a filet mignon. It was salty as well, hard. The cauliflower has been ,,slayed" in a brown sauce. I asked for the manager to give him a feedback. Instead of a responsible person who might be interested in a feedback, the waitress gave me a piece of paper to write a feedback. We will never come back again.

It was our first visit and our expectations were high. It was much better. The meet was absolutly topp class, and the service was also one of the best. Going for dinner in Tribeca this is a exelent choice.

Unfortunately during the dinner some water was dripping from the ceiling and the room was very noisy (need for sound absorbers?). The appetizers were delicious and the filet mignon good. Very good desserts. Enjoy!

Don't get me wrong, this is no budget diner. But the experience, flavors, portions and ambience make it well worth the money. Incredible place for a special night out. Ask for the sommelier to help you pick a wine.

Even though they are known for their cuts of meat, I had the Dove Sole. AMAZING. My companion had a filet that was prepared perfectly. He told me he dreamed about eating another that same evening. Great for couples or smaller groups.

Where do I start? Slow service, it is a overpriced cafeteria, terrible seating to close to other seats, went for restaurant week, very disappointing bad service, very salty food, just make yourself na favor and go to Mortons for their special. This restaurant compared to mortons steakhouse is like comparing the New England Patriots to the New York Jets...Mortons being the Patriots... . dessert were good, revomend to enemies

Nicely decorated, in Art Deco style, efficient staff, attentive without being in your face. Steaks were great, sauces are good. Had a special which was a lobster Mac and cheese which wasn’t wonderful. Salads were good, the bacon appetizer is very nice. Desserts were good. The only real fail was that the sommelier let me down with a wine recommendation which wasn’t great, he did decant it for me several times which improved it, but it wasn’t a great choice. Overall It is a little overpriced but good, and make a good job of making it feel special.

Super Attention, impeccable dishes. Not for nothing has Michelin Star and a Great Mexican Chef. We celebrate 31st Anniversary in Family. The Wow cuts and salads....

Starting point. We had a 7:45 PM reservation. Met at the bar at 7 PM, four old friends. We asked the hostess if a table opened up beforehand, we would take it. We told them we would be at the bar and they said they would come grab us when our table was ready. The bar was nice, drinks well prepared, however the wait time to order a drink, and the time it took to get the drink was way to long and not ordinary for a bar that was not crowded. The bar tenders were not organized or staffed well enough to handle the bar flow along with making drinks for the patrons seated at the tables. No way you wait ten minutes from order time to being handed a drink. OK, so at 7:45 PM we asked the two hostesses at the front desk if the table was ready. The said the people at our table were paying the bill and it would be very soon. We waited at the bar. We asked again at 8:05, same story, no saying sorry, just that the table would be ready soon. At 8:20, I asked again, got a non caring response, so I said we already closed out the bar tab, but will go back to the bar, will you be buying us a round? They said yes, and we ordered round #3....(all we wanted to do was have ONE DRINK while waiting for our res)...we finally were seated at 8:35, 50 minutes late.We ordered, the waiter told us that they would buy us what I think was a single sirloin cut up for four as a Sorry token for the wait time. That steak turned out to be exceptionally chewy and frankly, 50% of it was not eaten due to its quality. The main courses were average; the 52 oz. steak was enough for three, however it was nothing special, I would rate the steak, for a steak house that is supposed to be really good, a 5 out of 10. The bottom line is that I am most thankful that I am in a position that I have eaten at many of the highest rated restaurants in NY. Without exception, this is the most over rated one I have ever been to, period. The experience was below average, the food quality was below average, but the overall service and poor management was Very disappointing. Senior management should really look at how they operate this place. PS: this is a very expensive place (yes, we knew that before we made the res.)

Delicious steakhouse with some quirky additions...make sure to get the dessert! Great crowd and great ambiance.

Went here on our last night in NY as it was highly recommended by our hotel. Great atmosphere, great staff and fantastic bread, apps, sides and filet. BUT very disappointed with the wine list. For a Cab the lowest priced bottle was around $140. Seems really excessive and was a sour point on our night. I would recommend some lower priced wines for the menu. Everything else was perfect, but dinner for 2 with tip was $425 with a bottle of wine...

Came by here for who knows why, but once looking at the menu, the MFC was staring right at me. Marc Forgione Chicken comes with a buttermilk & tobasco, Lior Lev Sercasz spices, in a biscuit covered with house ranch, chilli peppercorn honey and pickles. Yes, very messy, but so damn good.

I'm not sure how to describe this other than its Dark, if you like dark places then it will be ok for you, I enjoyed dinner, the pre-dinner drink was average and served with a touch of attitude but I guess Bar tenders these days think they are rock stars...once taken into the Restaurant the service was immaculate, and attentive, the steak was amazing, although I looked in absolute shock at the table next to me, who ordered something that looked like it was from the Natural History Museum the biggest steak I have ever seen...but hey my Hanger Steak Courtesy of Restaurant week menu was delicious and over the last week I have been reminiscing of the subtle spices coating the meat...definitely a great meal. Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity to test places that rank up there in star ratings allowing you to eat a great meal at an affordable price, I definitely will go back soon!

Where do I start ? 1 …taken to our seat and not even asked if we’d like a drink before ordering. 2…starter was cold ( crab cake ) told the waiter and it was replaced with a slightly warmer one. 3…had to wait for the wine to have with the starter. 4…side plates removed even though we still had bread to eat . 5…main course arrive and it was wrong as I had ordered a NY strip and received a fillet . 6…asked if we’d like dessert and we said no thanks so the bill was brought over without us even asking for it so now chance of asking for a coffee or anything else . 7…asked to speak to the manager and that request was ignored asked 30 mins later and a junior manger turned up to refund our side orders . Poor poor poor service and the food was nothing special btw .

The venue is a little bit more upscale than the average NY steakhouse. The bar is seperate from the dining area which is good while you wait for your table. It was Saturday night and they were only 10 mins behind by 9pm. I had the filet Mignon. A perfectly cooked steak. My friend had the short ribs which came out in a pot and they were perfect. The atmosphere is not as stuffy as your usual steakhouse and the steaks are just as good.

What a great place with a very nice atmosphere. We enjoyed an outstanding evening. The food was awesome and so was the service. So why do I give only an average rating? It is because they chill down the place so much that we had to keep on our jackets to half enjoy the evening.

A friend recommended us American Cut and we enjoied it very much! The Steak to Share was good but The best was The spicy Lobster! And yes it is spicy! Great wine selection and very nice waiters

I visited with my wife in the 1st week of May. Wanted a good, trendy, modern steak restaurant and that's what we got! In a great stretch of Greenwich St for food we chose very well - excellent service, which started at the door and continued through to the cocktail bar and on into the restaurant - sat down at 9pm when the restaurant was busy with a good buzz, but as ever in the US by 10pm it had calmed down - but that allowed the food to take over. The "angry prawn" special starter was fantastic as were the hot oysters. We had the Hanger Steak (very good) and the big one - the 20oz NYC cut ribeye on bone - and that's why its 4 not 5 stars - a big, juicy steak cooked to perfection but just over seasoned - the pastrami rub & butter coating just over powered the excellent meat below - however with some inventive knife work the coating mixed well with the very nice veg sides (broccoli & latkes), so all was not lost - but it was odd to be in such a great steak restaurant paying $54 for a premier steak and it was so over seasoned! Don't be put off...just beware. We'll certainly be back, just a little wiser. PS - great cocktails at the bar...let the bar tender know how you like and sit back and enjoy!

Great restaurant overall and the attention to each detail is there. Highly recommend this restaurant and all LDV restaurants! Bravo!

We visited American Cut on 3/10/18 for an early dinner before seeing a show uptown. I was particularly impressed with the variety and creativity of the dishes. Typically steakhouses are pretty predictable, but this experience was different (and better!). Right from the start we were served with a biscuit / everything bagel hybrid that was incredible. I could go into detail on every appetizer, entree, and side dish, but let me sum it up by saying that they were all incredible and each dish had something about it that made it unique and special without being too “alternative”. An incredible dining experience is more that just the food, however. Our server, Jared, was an excellent guide for our journey. His advice was honest and spot on. I felt like he was looking out for us, which is something I had never experienced before. I also really enjoyed his stories and anecdotes. He turned a great meal into an amazing experience!

The American Cut serves amazing steak. I wouldn't know if this is to be the best steak in New York, but definitely up with the best. Perfect wine choice, great sides, and my oh my, definitely ask for bread. The bread you get before your meal is the most amazing appetizer I've ever had in any restaurant. It is very expensive though, but if you don't mind, definitely go there. It's in Tribeca, which is a lovely part of Manhattan in my opinion. We came her first in December 2013, but returned the year after, in August. Still great, still an amazing dinner. Enjoy!

Our new fave steakhouse in NYC! My wife and I enjoyed my birthday dinner here and it was fantastic. The service from the time we walked in to the time we left was great. Thank you Rueben for making our experience a great one. The food was excellent: the lobster toast, caesar prepared table-side, the mac and cheese and the steaks were all great. Looking forward to our next visit this year.

I have eaten some before, but the porterhouse steak at Wolfgangs was no less then perfect. It was prepared medium rare. Bravo!

I'm a big fan of steak houses and have been to many steakhouses including smith&wollensky, old homestead, Wolfgang on park ave, Peter lugars, etc. This place has by far the most mediocre steak I've had. Plus not to mention that we were charged two bottles of voss waters when we didn't even finish one bottle after our meal. My ribeye, being that it should be a pretty well marbled piece of meat came out stringy a bit. I felt like the quality of the steak was not meeting up to its name and price. If you're going on a date, it has a nice ambiance but if you're looking for good steak, I'd not recommend this place. Dessert was also not to my taste. I had some donut dish was not memorable except the fact that it was not good. For the price, you can get better steak elsewhere for sure!

This restaurant came highly rated while on our hunt for great places to eat while in NYC. We were not disappointed in our choice. We shared bone marrow, shrimp cocktail, NY strip for two with all the accompanying sauces, and the twice baked potatoes. All were delicious and mouth watering. Very extensive wine list, albeit pricey. Selection of both wet and dry aged steaks. Fresh seafood selections and fine salads. Excellent!

My DH and I were walking around the area we are staying in on this current trip to New York for our business, and happened upon the restaurant American Cut. It was the service that made our experience here. Enio the manager was exceptional in personality and knowledge, and our server I think was Alexandra. She was lovely and very personable. The food arrived quickly and hot, and my Dover Sole was SO DELICIOUS! Highly reccommend this restaurant if you are staying in the area. My husband is a meat eater and had a good steak.

The atmosphere is totally steak house, dark and clubby. Vibrant bar scene. We ordered from the Restaurant Week Menu, which consisted of a starter, an entree, a side, and dessert for $42. Everything was delicious, and the service was very good.

I chose an early bday and anniversary dinner here for my wife and I and have to say I was underwhelmed. First I had called and asked if we could have a corner booth or more intimate setting and was told no issue since our dinner was early at 530 and They just opened. We of course were seated right on top of another couple and the restaurant was empty. I took this as a loss but after ordering and getting drinks plus appetizer and 2 steaks without any special attentiveness or acknowledgment that it was my wife's bday until the end with a very small dessert I just felt eh. The steak was just ok the app was just ok. I ordered a dirty martini that was not very dirty and after paying 300 with tip I just felt I could have picked better. O well next time keens or Gallagers because. This venue just not quite right yet for what your paying for. Another note very strange music playing for a classy place. Liked it but didn't fit here

took my husband to dinner and was surprised to see how big it is inside. From outside doesn't look like much but once you pass the door, its a fine dinning restaurant. Our table was not ready to we waited at the bar, once seated, they waiters were attentive. The biscuits are DELISH! The Spinach and broccoli were very good. Every thing we tasted was good. I give it 3 stars because our meat was too burnt. I told our waiter and says all their meats are like that. I do appreciate a good meat but not so much when eating it taste like burnt. not enjoyable. Everything else was. good. It was good to try it but I don't see myself coming back.

Loved this place - was recommended by a colleague when we were travelling on business. The only downside was the volume of the rock/guitar music at the start of the meal. However, over time either the volume subsided or I got used to it (probably a combination of both). The service was fantastic - really impeccable. The meat - also incredible - and a delicious range of sides ... lobster mac'n'cheese, for example. Sausage'n'peppas also highly recommended as a side (frankly like a meal in itself, but delicious). Skipped dessert and replaced it with a galliano cocktail which was a perfect ending to a VERY good meal. Highly recommended.
Great steaks - but you pay for it
I suppose when you are a steak restaurant, there's not a lot you can do to create a point of differentiation. After all, despite cut, size and region the beef came from, its still...a steak. We loved however, how seriously the waiters take their menus, describing with almost religious zeal the meat's pedigree. At around $56 for a steak, yes, you would want to know the beef was transported between the thighs of a virgin during a full moon. Having said that, it was very good. Make sure to order lots of sides to share.
