When we go to New York City we always visit The Amish Market on 9th. Their selection of pastries, salads and soups cannot be topped.

We arrived early for our 911 Memorial tour and was near lunchtime. Decided to try a hotdog from one of the street vendors but the truck didn't have a variety of beverages. We wanted an ale to go with our kraut dogs! They gave us directions a couple of blocks from the Memorial and we ran into Amish Market. We sat at a wooden bar facing one of the busy streets and people watched while we ate our food. It was a perfect place to rest either before or after the Memorial tour.

Staying at the Wyndham across the street. ... need some fruit and munchies, they gave you covered ... lots of fresh food and Meats , reasonably priced fir the area...

Our apartment was a block away from the Amish market. Open from 6am to 11pm, they are selling fresh food (fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese, diary...) and everything you can think of (beverage, snacks,...). Only thing missing is wine.

Visited from New Zealand and stayed in Hell's Kitchen. So pleased we found this market, we could have spent hours browsing the aisles, managed to buy some items we can no longer get at home. Highly recommend.

Not sure if this is the one we went in, but we stumbled across the Amish Market on our way to the 911 museum. I was amazed at the choices inside, pizza, sandwiches. sushi, soup, coffee, cakes and a whole host of other foods to buy. It is very basic, paper plates and tables fixed to the floor, but the pizzas and cakes were delicious. Also it was such a quaint little shop, I could have spent hours in there. Well worth dropping in for lunch

If you stuck on fresh, tastefully food this is the right place. They provide a huge variety of all kinds of food, pizza, salad and vegetables, so we found ourselves more than one time having our dinner there. If you want to avoid fast and unhealthy food, Amish market would be the right choice. Nicely and surpicningly well decorated store with a small seating area but still comfortable.

We wanted something to eat before going to the One World Observatory. This place offers it all--literally. You can create your own salad, sold by the pound, from dozens of hot and cold buffet items. There are also sushi, soup, gyros, and brick oven pizza. There is also a market at the back of the restaurant.

While on our honeymoon, we were looking for some special locations to stop for snacks and meals. This needs to be on everyones list! We had so many options for dinner food that it was hard to decide. My husband enjoyed a cooked dinner plate, while I chose a variety of foods from the hold/cold bar. Everything was delicious and well put-together. After dinner, we went through the market and selected a few items we needed during our stay. We also chose some pastries to have for breakfast the next morning. The dinner was great, but the bakery treats are fantastic!!! I highly recommend a pit-stop from the city streets at this delightful market.

On my way back to the car from the theater, I passed the Amish Market. I already had dinner before the show, so I decided to have dessert. I had coffee and a tasty round pastry covered with a cherry mix. There is a section with tables so you can sit. I didn't have a chance to really explore the market, but I can see that there are probably lots of tasty items in the place. Next time!

The first thing you notice when you enter the store, is the great variety of prepared food - Salads, meats, sandwiches, fruits, veggies, snacks, and of course, sweets. Be aware, however, that the boxed food is not always fresh, and it may have been lying there for two-three days. Nonetheless, the food tastes fresh and the prices are accordingly (~4$ for a salad, and ~8$ for a sandwich). Aside from prepared food, you will find a variety of cheese, meats, dairy, sweets and drinks. Recommended for those who work long hours and are too tired to cook at home, but still want to eat a healthy meal.

There is a small area for self-serve dining. The store has a hot food bar, salad bar, soups, fresh bread/rolls, and everything else you need for a tasty lunch or dinner in a hurry. It is also a really nice grocery. There were at least six soups, we tried two and both were good and a well stocked salad bar (not self serve) and hot/cold food bar (self serve). Everything that we had was fresh and healthy. High value for Manhattan. The groceries were well stocked with excellent supply of fruits and veggies.

This cafe is near ground zero so we went for some lunch it was lovely and the pizzas were huge, I have rated on the food not the staff though they could have made you feel a little more welcome.

This place has everything good. Got a brick oven sandwich. Really liked the different drinks, sodas etc. Variety.

Found this place around the corner from where we were staying when we first got in. I was impressed by the wide selection of fresh fruit, veggies, breads, baked goods, olive bar, salad bar and hot buffet. I went there every day and loaded up with yummy food and other necessities.

I have been living on Washington St the last few days and chanced upon this hidden gem. I was attracted to their down to earth decor and goods. I bought their Macro Bento, mixed cut fruits and sampled their buffet spread which was amazing and healthy. Chilli squid, crabstick salad, spiced chicken, olives, cheese, grilled asparagus, aubergine, green apple and broccoli salad etc. Like home cooked food! I wish there was an Amish market on every street in NYC!

I love the Amish Market, the bakery section alone is worth a trip! Try a giant muffin, you won't be disapointed.

Went in just to see the market. Unbelievable array of various merchandise. Could have relished the shelves for hours. Unexpected deli. Ate a wonderful breakfast. Buffet and pizza oven. Seating available.

Loved the hot food, great choice and always seemed pretty fresh. Plenty of seating & open late. No complaints!

I went here based on a friends recommendation. I was not impressed. Its a so-so deli with tons of options. Its a Manhattan deli chain. It feels kind dirty.

If you don't mind madness and feeling like a sardine, you will enjoy and be amazed at the selection of this place. Block long store and restaurant down by the 911 Memorial, you can get anything you want, pizza, salad, full meal buffet, sandwiches, pastries, everything. We were there at lunch and even though the locals know the plan, unless you do, it can be a bit overwhelming. Long lines to pay but move quickly. If you want a NYC gastronomical experience, don't miss this.

As although it costs more here than at a Bodega, the choices are much greater and the quality is higher. Also have great baked goods if you want to splurge on dessert instead of being good with some fruit

Went here for lunch and was amazed at the array of food. Most of us had grilled sandwiches or salads, but the choice was great and fresh and the vibe of the place was lovely. Absolutely loved it.

On our first day here, we thought this would be a great spot to stock up on groceries - WRONG! The prices were just laughable! It was a gorgeous place with all kinds of lovely things, but just not practical. However, we did go back later in the week to get pizza. It was very good, and they have a nice little area of tables and chairs to sit and eat. Pizza - yes. Groceries? Try Food Emporium down the street!

the buffet is extensive- price based on weight. Any grocery item you need, is probably here- pretty rare in NYC.

This is a great place for the other type of fast food: Fresh, tasty, great variety of hot and cold meals, soups on the buffet with good choice of vegetables. I enjoyed a mixed plate of different choices, and everything was fine to excellent with several positive surprises which I did not expect from a buffet like this. E.g Spinach with fish on rice, hot pot from pork and carots, crab salad, guacamole. . . Looking forward to the next time

I do all my shopping there. Staff is very friendly and helpful and produce is really fresh. Highly recommend!

Visited everyday for my morning coffee.....not only was it the best tasting (especially the French Vanilla blend) but the staff were universally delightful.

My wife and I visited on July 20, 2015. It is "pricey" but the food is good and market is clean and friendly. We Liked the variety that it offered.

It is positioned to be a different place.Food seems to be good, service is not bad. Sometimes it is overcrowded during lunch time. Some specific food items, such as: cheeses for example.

From the moment you walk into this food heaven its an assault on all of you sense'..take away salads .hot chicken sandwiches.fresj fruit..its a delight to wander around.

Large combination market/ restaurant with a lot of selections and plenty of tables. Meat on a skewer was good.

FANTASTIC… healthy fresh food prepared daily. Food bar has everything- just choose what you want and charged by weight. I had salmon with feta salad… such a contrast to pizza and tacos! Cost $7.50… Totally love it!

I love their after 8pm promotion: Hot and cold buffet food is dropped to $5.99 from $7.99 per pound. Seating is available as well. You can also have fresh ground coffee, they make it from coffee beans right in front of you.

Try the ginger cookies, they are wonderful. Coffee much better than starbucks. good home cooking Mainly a grocery and take out but have a couple of tables at fornt of store

Rave reviews from friends but found the Amish Market only average. Typical NY deli and buffet, very few tables, small and cramped in one corner of the restaurant. Food average. One visit was enough, this customer did not return.

We are staying just across the street from The Amish Market. When we first settled in we noticed the market just outside of our window. The Amish Market sure piqued our interest. I have no idea what an amish market would be like. It turned out to be a pretty good "regular" market and a very good alternative and better selections than the Food Emporium which is down the block. For a small market is has a large selection of fresh foods. The Market had a soup and salad bar, a very large olive bar (which we took advantage of!), a very large selection of international cheeses, and very fresh and tasty fruit. But be warned. The Amish markets citywide were bought by a Turkish family and for years now also feature an excellent selection of groceries for a Mediterranean diet ( I plagiarized this from another reviewer elsewhere because I didn't know). But I have been in Turkey and the market does resemble Turkish markets I've visited before. And don't let this stop you from taking advantage of this excellent market. It is also loaded with a ton of American food stuffs. We have shopped there every day and have bought fresh fruit, food from their deli, sandwiches, pininis, juices, water, iced teas,; and, well, you get the idea.

We three each had a different custom made salad from an extensive choice of ingredients prepared as we watched. As a large grocery, you can supplement your salad with drinks/desserts etc.... Beautiful choices of fresh fruits

Rapid, clean and a lot of choice for eating, i recommand it for dinner. There is pizza, salad, fruits and grocery products very cute !

In Hell's Kitchen area of 50th St and 9th Ave, we came across this little market and decided to enter on a whim. What a pleasant surprise! Such a clean, bright, and well laid-out neighborhood grocery. Very like a miniature Whole Foods grocery with a high quality of produce. It's actually kind of a gourmet foods store too, with a prepared foods section, deli counter (with whole slabs of nova salmon (lox), scottish smoked salmon, and norwegian smoked salmon!), a large assortment of olives and pickles, and cheeses. I'm sure it's priced a little higher than other groceries in the area (let alone NYC), but it sure looks worth it for the quality, diversity, and convenience.

Whats to dislike, the fruit and veg was so fresh you could smell them outside the shop and so large, they had an amazing selection of cakes and you could have deli sandwiches, the Amish coffee is a must. There is a seating area inside the shop, the staff were different every day but friendly.

We visited this market/shop/cake market a few times during our 10 day stay in the city. They have incredible choice of everything for good prices and what is important veg and fruit were fresh as were cakes and other products. I highly recommend it.

We found this after going to the 9/11 Museum. It was an eclectic mix of supermarket and cafe - the food was great.

As we were walking back to our hotel after having a fun and filling casual dinner at Chelsea Grill, we wanted to stop at a market to buy some yogurt. All of a sudden we passed the Amish Market and went inside. Wow, impressive. It was like walking into a Whole Foods or something. A huge variety of foods, lots of fruit, great sweets counter, deli, a few tables for seating, soup and salad bar, sandwiches. Just incredible variety. Prices were very reasonable too. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed having fresh fruit, salad, pizza, soup, and sandwiches as a faster lunch option. The food quality was outstanding....loved the cooking in a brick oven! Will be going back again!

I live two blocks from here for the past 4 years. As a place to nip out for some essential groceries, it is ok, I guess. The staff is not very helpful, they seem to re-organize their shelves once a month. there is no consistency in what they stock, I joke that it is the overstock.com of grocery stores, they just take whatever other places can't sell. You have to check your produce VERY carefully, it is generally moldy or rotten. The hot food is bad to OK. If you are a construction worker in the area on a 30 min lunch break, ok, i understand. But I am writing this review because I consistently see tourists in there and finally decided to look it up to see if someone was telling out of towners this was Must See. Sadly, it appears someone is. It is NOT.

This place is awesome. They have the most fresh veggies in the area, the place is always clean and organized and don't forget to try their smoothies: delicious!

A great find in the middle of the busy city. Lots of good, healthy food, excellent selection but don't expect friendly service. The "ladies" serving us seemed like we were interrupting them while they would have been happy to do anything else.

Likes its big brother downtown, this market couldn't cram any more food on its shelves. Sandwiches are big and fresh and lunch might cost you $8.

Stopped in after my visit to the 9/11 Museum to hydrate and check out what they have to offer. It was everything I could ever want ...plus some. Lots of choices on food served deli style...quesadilla's, pizza pies or by the slice, sushi, dumplings, salad bar, anti pasta bar...etc. one the other side is a well stocked bakery, produce, cheeses and international grocery items. If I lived in NYC, I'd be visiting this place every.single.day. I also captured a picture the day I was there of the facade and compared it to the facade another photographer took in 2001. PC credits on pic. I'm so glad Amish Market rebuilt and turned turmoil into triumph.

Large selection of average quality hot & cold deli food, bakery items, drinks, produce, groceries. Gourmet chocolate, honey, jams and more.

Ripe, red radishes, dark green, healthy looking spinach, hearty breads of all sorts, good salad bar, wide choice of kefir and yogurts and fast checkout. Great start to my first shop in our four day rented apartment near W. 52nd and 9th Ave. Organic eggs, mushrooms, scallions, good butter and aged Gouda on sale will be our omelette for a couple of the next mornings with fresh ground coffee and a baguette. Afternoon snacks of olives, radishes and wine purchased down the street will provide a break from high dining costs. This market also has roast chickens for less than $10, a possibility after our musical matinee tomorrow. I did want to cook some halibut or scallops but could find no fresh meat or fish.

After a somewhat distressing and confusing visit to The Food Emporium, where the till lady had the look of an angry wasp, we decided to venture further to find a pit stop. Being on a budget and sometimes found ourselves short of money in the evenings, we were delighted pick up evening picnics here. Although small, it was nicely and surprisingly decorated. More importantly however, you didn't feel a sting with pricing there and food was of fresh and good quality. Yes service isn't the usual over the top friendly "have a nice day!"- but we are used to the undead persons of Tescos in England, their rotten flesh smelling down aisles and their barely conscious faces reacting to any gestures. So- in comparison I can't complain!

I will say it has a fairly decent selection but the prices are ridiculous even for Midtown. Price you pay for convenience, only go here if you have no other options.

An amazing gourmet grocery store with reasonable prices and a huge variety of prepared food choices to eat in or carry out. Not run of the mill either. Sandwiches from scratch. Huge pay by the pound including octopus salad, chicken piccata and much more. Great staff and service.

My fave part about this place is the crazy selection. They have just about anything you'd want to eat and their buffet is awesome. It gets crowded at lunch time but not so much that it deters me from going in there. Try it! You won't be disappointed!

Hubby and I stopped here to try the Crumb Cake, which was really awesome! I loved the Amish market, they also have one on the east side also. This one is in Hell's Kitchen area. Great market. Definitely try the pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving, really good.

I love this market. It is small, but they fit SO much in here -- you can get everything from fresh produce and seafood to bakery items, made-to-order sandwiches, and pantry staples. They have basic brands and some hard-to-find delicacies, and their cheese selection is amazing. My son lives nearby and used to shop at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, but now comes here almost exclusively. When I visit him, I stop in here everyday and even pick up things to take home with me. I have always found the staff to be helpful and pleasant. Wish this was in my hometown!

This is a great place to do some small groceries locally. It is packed from top to bottom which means even though it's a small store it's bound to have everything you need. Staff is friendly.

A mix of a supermarket, deli and paticery shop. A very nice selection of gourmet foods from around the world. Expensive, but good quality. There are a few tables and chairs, so one can buy at the supermarket and enjoy the meal or pastry on premises.

This is mostly a deli but you can sit in. The range of foods was enticing, well presented and welcoming. Of all the markets I've visited in 35 years of traveling to the US this impressed me the most. Keep up the good job.

Handy market with a great range. The quality is of the highest order but the prices are way to high. I recon 30% more expensive than other Delis in Hell’s Kitchen. That said, if your there on holiday the few extra dollars won’t break the bank. Nice seated area as well . The cakes are awesome.

Great range of foods on offer, all fresh, tasty and excellent value. Highly recommended, I had the roast beef sandwich which was HUGE!

I love coming here for their soups and salad bar - healthy options and prepared salads, plus made-to-order sandwiches. Local market feel, with full selection of fresh fruits / veggies, milks, snacks and chips, indulgent cookies and desserts
Elegant buy way overpriced.
When I first walked into the Amish Market over 20 years ago, it was nothing more than an old dirty wooden floor with pallets of canned goods and bottled goods from who knows where. Today it is one of the most elegant food stores in Manhattan. The grocery store is a full supermarket that has items from all over the world, fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, frozen foods and dairy. Fresh cheeses olives and on and on. The deli part is exquisite with all the prepared food ready to take home and eat. Same with the bakery, original and popular selections. The bad part is that it is extremely overpriced. Yes, everything looks spectacular, there is an abundance of staff, and there is everything you could possibly want. But do you really. Most visitors to the store buy stuff because of the presentation, impulse buying. Go in, buy if you feel prices are reasonable, sale items maybe, but otherwise keep your wits about you.
