Amazing gem in El Barrio!

By gbsinger718 |

My wife and I have been to Amor Cubano on a number of occasions. The first time we went there we found that the staff makes you feel welcome as if you are family. The food and the drinks were incredible and having a live band there made for a sensational night. We went there on our Anniversary (I arranged it prior) on a Tuesday night. they did not have a live band that night unfortunately but, once again, we were treated like family and, when we got to our table, there were rose petals on the the table and a single long stemmed rose. Our food and drinks were incredible. I highly recommend this gem to anyone. Authentic food, great drinks, and a memorable time!

Great Cuban food and music in Spanish Harlem

By 347harveyh |

Authentic Cuban dining and entertainment in a white tablecloth and linen napkin restaurant on Third Avenue near 111 Street in Manhattan. Friendly service. Try it on a Thursday night after 7pm. It's not overly crowded but get a reservation. And yes, it's a safe neighborhood.

Great food, good service and music

By FMWriter |

Live music and excellent food. The best sangria ever. We were worried about taking the subway to the neighborhood at night -- don't -- it was fine.

Wonderful restaurant, comfortable vibe and great food and drinks.

By Shelley-EY |

A pleasant atmosphere with great food and great mojitos, and great service. The other day I was just thinking how it'd been ages since tasting a mojito. So, my friend's who lives around the corner suggestion was perfect. I am also a huge fan of ropa vieja and picadillo. The server pointed me to the ropa this time, which was delicious and presented very attractively. Next trip I will try the picadillo. Hopefully will be returning soon.

Incredible fish for a reasonable price!

When I visited this restaurant about a week ago, my girlfriend and I just walked off an apartment visit, and we were starving. That is when we randomly walked into this restaurant. After some talk with the very helpful and friendly waiter, we decided to go for the Red Snapper. First we got an appetizer, fried plantain chips, with cilantro sauce, this was so good we needed a refill of both pretty soon. In the mean time the atmosphere in the place was very nice, it was quiet during lunchtime, and the music was very nice on the background. When the fish arrived we were stunned, not only was the fish way bigger than expected, also the presentation of the plate was incredible, and after all the taste was amazing. Before we got the chance to order a dessert, our waiter came with a dessert on the house, which was a most welcome surprise, and the double espresso that I ordered with it was a very good coffee, which is rare to find in New York City. There is absolutely nothing that we did not enjoy when eating here, which was the main reason to come back next day with a couple of friends, and probably more often in the future. If you are ever in the mood for a very tasty meal and you are around the Upper East Side, this is definitely worth the visit!

Sisters bday a success!

It was a last minute thing but let me just say it was a great thing. The food was amazing and service was great! They had live music and everyone made her night really special :)

A Pinch of Salt

By 2SunSisters |

I really enjoyed the environment and the band, but the food was just okay. My churrasco was cooked perfectly but was strangely room temperature. The server suggested the calamari and it was okay. My ginger mojito was pretty good. Pretty potent and had fresh ginger but the ginger taste would have been even stronger had they puréed it versus putting chunks in. I would give this restaurant acgood versus the average trip advisor doesn't offer that option. By the way change your awning, it looks like a Chinese restaurant versus the cute little Cuban place you are.

Fabulous restaurant. Great food. Outstanding live music. Excellent service

By CuriousGeorgia |

This restaurant is located in Spanish Harlem, right around the corner from the B&B where we were staying. It is located on a fairly quiet street so we were pleasantly surprised when we were greeted by excellent live Cuban music and a packed restaurant on a late Tuesday evening. Service was friendly and competent. The atmosphere was lively and warm. The prices were reasonable and the portions were generous. I tried a champagne mojito which was a delicious twist to this popular drink. It came with a sugar cane stir stick which was fun to nibble while I waited for our appetizer, Yuyu's Yuca Rellena (a delicious mistake since this appetizer was a meal on it own for two people). I ordered the Picadillo a la Habanera and my companion ordered the Ropa Vieja (Shredded skirt steak). Both dishes were quite large, and served with bean and rice. Mine was a lovely combination of salty olive, tangy tomato and sweet raisins. My dinner mate's meal was nicely garlicy with an excellent tomato sauce. We were defeated by the size of the food and were left to waddle home with a take-out box of Tatica's TRES LECHES cake, looking forward to an indulgent vacation breakfast and this cake did not disappoint.

Great Food and Nice Atmosphere

By Zaveinn W |

This was my second visit to Amor Cubano. We went with a group of 8 and we were very pleased with the food and service. Our waitress Ellie was amazing! She's a good salesperson too! Lol. The prices aren't too expensive. If you're looking for a place with good food, live music, and good location this is the place. Parking was easy to find as well. I do have two suggestions for this place which would make it even better. One is set up a bigger dance floor. People want to dance when they come to a place like this especially with a live band. My second suggestion is to organize when people have song requests. We requested a song with one of the bartenders and after almost 45 mins they finally played the song but after 30 seconds of the song it was cut short and never played again while we there. That disappointed a few people in our group. Other than those 2 things, we enjoyed our time at this restaurant and recommend it for others.

I enjoy this place' good food, good drinks and great music.

AMOR Cubano is located in East Harlem, I enjoy this place, this place is FUN. I have had dinner here quite a few times and I always enjoy myself. I like the casual atmosphere and the friendly service and rhe yummy food and drinks . They make you feel at home. You should try to get there any Thursday thru Sunday. They always have live music and if you so wish you can get up and "bust a move" if the music moves you' no one will care.

So delicious

By adamasrinsky |

Amazing atmosphere in this East Harlem gem. The food is beyond this world (I am still thinking about my stuffed chicken a day later). The service is quick and very pleasant, and there is a range of amazing mojitos to choose from. We went on a Monday night so there was no live music. I am planning to go again this weekend for that.

Amazing!

By PetraSanFrancisco |

After visiting El Museo del Barrio I asked one of the guys to recommend a good restaurant. I went to Amor Cubano, and i loved it, the staff is real nice, and the food delicious. Mojitos were so good, I had one too many, but no regrets, I had the best of times!

Authentic Cuban Cuisine

By 2Livelife |

The food here is great. You will not go broke here. the food and drinks are fairly priced. The nostalgic attire worn by the staff adds to the ambiance. A vibrant throw back bar and a live band makes this place difficult to leave. The food is succulent. No matter what you order you won't be disappointed. The waitresses are friendly and attentive. By the time you leave this restaurant, you will forget you were in Spanish Harlem. This place will take you back to your ancestry roots.

Great mojitos! but not at cheap price

By emmam731 |

Came here with my friend because she recommended the mojitos. We all got the guava ones and they were DELICIOUS! However they are $10 each. We also got some apps (empanadas and ceviche) both were good. They had live entertainment on the night we went too which was fun. She was a great singer who made her way through the place and dang by each table. Great atmosphere. good apps and Great mojitos. Just make sure you come after payday. We ended up with $93 bill and we didn't even eat a meal.

Garbanzo!

By 57575757575757575757 |

I give 5 stars based on my steamed garbanzo appetizer already. Empanada also excellent. Plantain chips & dip very good. Live music.

Excelent

By luckyluci |

The food is authentic Cuban food. My dessert (bread pudding) it is a must. Love the ambiance, even the people who serve the tables dress typical cloths. Nerveless to say the Live music they play at this place is really good

Not sure if I would return.

By Stefano |

I've had better cuban food in the city. The atmosphere is very nice. Exposed brick wall and dimly lit. Staff is very nice. When i went there was only one server which made our experience take a little longer. It wasnt a big deal as they had live entertainment which made the wait not seem so bad. Food was ok but atmosphere was excellant and service/staff was ok.

Very good food!

By GeorgiaLucy41 |

Food was somewhat inconsistent a couple of entrees were good, but Paella and Arroz con Pollo were excellent! Service was good to start but as restaurant got busier it became worse.

Tasty!!

By Ecorn77 |

Hello everyone, I have eaten at Amor Cubano lots of times and is one of my favorites. The food is amazing and really tasty and it's one of the best Cuban cuisine restaurants in the city. I Love the Sangrias and after 7pm they have live band playing. Cozy lovely atmosphere and service is good and friendly. You wouldn't go wrong with anything on the menu, as well as the dessert. The flan or tres- leche are of the hook. Give this restaurant a 5 out of 5. Recommend it

Delicious cuban cuisine!

By Songej |

Authentic food, authentic music. Food is SO good. About 8 different mojoto option. Service was excellent with the waitstaff wearing cute country cuban style dresses and head wraps. There is an adorable back room that I recommend. It's quaint with clothes hanging on a line and u can almost feel like your in the cuban countryside. Music is less loud here so you can easily converse with your dinner partner/s. Was a great experience for us. We will def be back.

Delcious Food, Great Service and Music

By ALEX P |

Very authentic Cuban Cuisine served by a well trained staff. Music with a live duo in the background and great drinks make this place perfect for a true Cuban culinary night out. We had a group of 6 so we were able to share many delicious plates from the appetizers through dessert. Really nice! Thank you.

Reconnecting with Old Friends!

By TDRDTJ |

Chose this restaurant to meet up with my old junior high school friends since they still live in the area it was a convenient spot. Met up for lunch and drinks but the lunch menu really wasn't all that. We had sangria and it was ok to, we've had better. None the less if you are looking for a place for drinks and music then this is the place. I have had dinner there in the past and must say it's much more appetizing. All in all the place is quaint, cute and inexpensive and served the purpose of our gathering. Had such a fabulous time catching up and reminiscing that I'm willing to overlook that the lunch stunk! I'm giving a 3 because of location, service & ambiance.

Good Cuban Food in Spanish Harlem

By DrKatieRN |

We attended a family event here. The restaurant was chosen because of it's proximity to the Church were the event took place.

Excellent food & service with indoor & sidewalk seating

By christopherbO9687MP |

Amor Cubano provides excellent food and service, with both indoor & sidewalk seating available. Live music was available on the weekend; we chose a quieter outside table off the main Avenue. Our family ordered the Croquetas de Pollo (Chicken croquettes) and El Tamalito De Olga (Slowed cooked corn meal with bits of pork) as appitizers;both were very good. Our entrees were Paella a la Marinera (seafood), Tilapia al Limon, and Vaca Frita (Shredded pan-fried skirt steak flavored with garlic mojo). All were very good. The desserts of flan and sponge cake topped off the meal. This restaurant is a good choice if you are interested in Cuban cusiene.

Awesome Cuban Spot and Just Great All Around

By IvyNYC |

Wow! We love Cuban food, music, culture. This is the best place we have been outside of Havana! The live band was fantastic! The mojitos were as good or better than in Havana! The food was delicious and the atmosphere cozy and inviting. Can't wait to return!

Amazing place

By anneka0325 |

I had been there like 5 times already, food is awesome and the enviroment is really unique and pleasant! I love this restaurant and recomended 100%

Great food and music

By robcurtross |

We had dinner at Amor Cubano last weekend, and really enjoyed ourselves. The Ropa Vieja, shredded steak with onions and peppers served with white rice and black beans, was absolutely delicious, perfectly spiced, one of the best I have ever had. My companion had the Tilapia, which was much less successful, a bit over-cooked and rather tasteless. My beer was cold and delicious; her mango mojito was very good. The band was in great form, and the crowd seemed to really enjoy itself.

Decent service, bad food.

By Espiritu L |

Had dinner there on Friday...won't do that again and will tell anyone who will listen to pass. There were two of us and the bill was 125.00! We had two drinks each (that was actually the best part of the dinner), 1 appetizer between us (that was not good), The food was dry and flavorless. As a Latina, in a restaurant in Spanish Harlem, I expected MUCH BETTER. The drinks, although good were severly overpriced. They had a band there that played so loud you couldn't talk while they played. Neither of us ate the whole meal because it was just NOT GOOD. Although the waitress and staff saw we didn't enjoy the expereince, no one made amends for this. Just as someone else said on their review, wasn't feeling ANY Amor Cubano. Don't bother...spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

Tasteful, simple and inexpensive

By Diego P |

We loved it! It wasn't pricey and the food was excellent. If you like all things cuban, this is the right location for a first time NYC visitor. It is easy to get there, just take the number 6 train and get off on 110th street, Spanish Harlem. There was a small 3 member band playing cuban music and half way through our dinner my wife and I were able to get up and dance salsa next to our table, great!

Great option for authentic Cuban food when looking to get away from midtown

By BC_Dallas_Texas |

Amor Cubano is a great option for authentic Cuban food for those looking to get away from midtown Manhattan. We like Cuban food and are always looking for good finds. We were looking for a good dining experience with authentic Cuban food in an environment which would not be touristy. I had been to Victor’s and Havana Central in Times Square previously and, while okay, did not find those to be ideal. Havana Central was too touristy, lacked intimacy and too chain-restaurant in feel. Victors is fine, with good food but the feel is too stiff and formal for my preferences. I love Guantanermas at 8th avenue between 55th and 56th street and go there every visit to New York City. I was looking for another restaurant similar in feel to Guantanmera’s and found Amor Cubano. The restaurant is intimate, comfortable and most importantly, has excellent, authentic Cuban food and exceptional customer service. The wait staff was very attentive, very helpful and offered excellent suggestions from the menu. Price point on the food items was reasonable. Particularly good is the Yuca Rellena appetizer and Lechon Asado that is accompanied by a fantastic orange mojo. Also, there is live music with a small stage. However, I can’t comment on the quality of the musical entertainment as we went in the afternoon. It was an easy subway ride from midtown. We will go back in the evening on the next NYC visit to experience Amor Cubano at night with music.

Terrific Food and Music and Service

By CSSnowshoer |

Glad I read the reviews. Would have not considered it. We knew it would be loud, so took the advice to sit in the back room. We arrived at 7 and the music started about 7:30. When the music started we could hear it just fine, but until then we had a peaceful meal. The paella was...a lot...could have fed three people with appetizers. We also got the cuban sandwich (how could we not?) which was great and enough for 2. Actualy I would have been fine with just the plantains. So much food to take home! The music then was great. This is a wonderful place.

Maybe the Best in East Harlem

By Dan W |

Not only is the atmosphere inviting and friendly, the food is excellent. On the Friday night we ate there, after dinner the music began and one definitely feels like it could really be Cuba.

Had a fantastic time...great band.

By Kristine V |

My boyfriend and I stopped in on a whim over the July 4th holiday and loved it. They made great mojitos as we were entertained by the energetic singer and band. The food was of course great too.

Good Food, Poor Value

By diiplo11 |

We went to Amor Cubano early on a quiet evening. The food was very good, and our server was warm and extremely attentive. We were six people, and we had a main dish and a drink each, and we shared a few appetizers and a couple of desserts. Some of us also had coffee. Our bill was more than $350, and the prices on the menu were higher than what was posted on the restaurant website, which we checked just before leaving home. If you can enjoy music and entertainment these prices may be well-justified; however, we found them way too expensive for the food and neighborhood.

Good Meal and Atmosphere

By Jerry G |

Small restaurant that has quality live music. Our table ordered a pitcher of Sangria as we enjoyed the music and tried to figure out the menu. I ordered a steak dish that was very tasty. The rest of my party seemed very pleased with their selections as well. The staff was friendly and attentive. All in all, a good value for the food and atmosphere. If you are in the area, you should stop by.

chicken empanadas

By triciarayliah |

The chicken empanada were so filled with pulled chicken and flavorful -rice and beans were excellent - excellent service friendly attentive and the decor or the Cuba went along with the goodness of their food menu Everyone luvs Amor Cubano in my neighborhood

The cuban taste in Spanish Harlem

By Rutaxsiempre |

One of my favorites Cuban restaurants in the City( Far ahead of the second)...Very nice staff, specially the hostess...Food is really close to authentic Cuban Style(from appetizers to main courses)...The roasted pork and yucca con mojo is a must...The mojito; a WOW experience in this place ( especially in the hot and humid NY summer)..I'll come back again for sure...

Cuban nights

By Lily A |

Fabulous I recommend the ceviche and the Churrasco. the music was delightful. They serve a fabulous Mojito And whit sangria . I would skip desserts.

Authentic Cuban food without traveling to Havana

By danfriedmanmd |

The sounds of bongos and women dressed in long floral skirts greet you as you walk into the brick-walled Cuban restaurant. The moment you take your seat, you are made to feel very relaxed. Pastries immediately arrive at your table even before you place an order. And then----the menu--- pollo a la barbacoa, ceviche mixto, pepito, and delicious steak! If you are in east Harlem, make sure to stop here!

Don't Call it a Cuban Sandwich

By Bruce I |

A Cuban sandwich consists of pan de manteca, pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles and mustard. NOT MAYONAISE! We expected a little dive in el barrio named Amor Cubano would know how to make a proper Cuban sandwich. We could forgive the lack of the right bread, New York is not Miami, Cuban bread is not Puerto Rican or Dominican, we can accept lack of a nearby bakery like you can find in the Cuban neighborhoods across the river in New Jersey. But a sandwich made with mayo instead of mustard is not a Cuban sandwich. Don't call it so.

Perfect Cuban food and great service

By loucleveland |

Exactely what I expect of a good Cuban restaurant. Nice atmosphere, very good food and very nice service by a waiter called Fernando. I had dinner at Amor Cubano on my first night in NYC and the first impresion of the cities gastronomy could not have been better.

GREAT DRINKS AND SERVICE

By WhereNext2NYC |

Had dinner here. The mojitos were delicious. The food played second fiddle -- the sandwich was pretty good, but the appetizers were just ok. A convenient stop after shopping at the East River mall.

Ambience, Food, Music = Magic

By shangoodjack |

Visited on fathers day weekend. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious and the music was very good. My churassco was delicious and friends from LA raved about the food days after our visit. I would highly recommend this neighborhood staple. Good, really good cuban food in the middle of Harlem.

sweet spot

By Alain L |

food is just ok, but you will have your cuban food craving satisfied. Mojitos menu is great and with live music on saturdays, you are in for a good time

Very lively

By Lisa M |

My friend and I had a fun time at this restaurant. Instead of bread, we started with plantain chips and dip. Delicious! The red snapper is also very good. The music makes you feel like you are somewhere tropical. Plus the fruity mojitos really add to the experience. If you want to have a conversation with the people you are with, you should go before the music starts. It is a bit loud. The bottom line is that I spent time with a friend, ate good food, and listened to good Latin music. I even danced a bit... a fun time for sure...

Didn't feel the Amor

By flores0403 |

Visited this location on a late morning Saturday after many months of anticipation. We were one of two tables occupied at the time: waiting time was long, pricey considering no customer service; not a place for children's meals although I am sure the night scene may be different since they have live music on certain days. I guess it is not really a brunch venue after all. One of the chairs was wobbly and was brought to server's attention; chair was placed back in the original location without any regard for repairs for the next customer. Indicated concerns over meal order and plate and silverware was removed without much effort to either apologize or provide additional options.

Top Notch Cuban Cuisine

By tarynpeter |

Great family owned restaurant. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere with the live Son music. Food was better than any Cuban Cuisine I have had in Miami by a mile. Cozy and warm, great vibe and the food just screamed flavor!

Warm hospitality and delicious Cuban fare

By W.H. D |

Came here with a group of students as part of a tour of East Harlem -- and what a terrific stop! Beautiful murals and friendly staff made this a very welcoming restaurant to visit. The drinks and food were of very high quality and particularly well served. We will return!

Good music, disappointing otherwise

By Michael Y |

This Cuban restaurant has great reviews and I don’t know why. We were shown our table quickly and then didn’t see our waitress for 15 minutes, we had to flag down the hostess to go find her. We both ordered mojitos and ropa vieja. In under 10 minutes both our drinks and ropa vieja arrived at the table. As you would expect when you food comes out shortly after being ordered, the ropa vieja clearly wasn’t made to order and tasted like a beef stew that was heavy on the tomatoes. The sweetness of the onions wasn’t apparent at all. The plantain bowl it was served in was charming but had very clearly been made way in advance and I think frozen. The beans were, sadly, flavorless. The rice was the only thing that was on par and I’m talking about white rice. The mojitos would have been fantastic except for the low grade rum which made every sip have a harsh and bitter aftertaste. The flan would have also been nice except for the overpowering caramel sauce and the weeping whipped cream which made me wonder how long the whipped cream had been sitting on that plate before I ordered (it also could have just been not whipped enough). All of this is a shame because the atmosphere, music and hostess were very nice, and I know the restaurant biz is tough, but good food takes time and shortcuts don’t help quality. Also, we had to flag down the waitress every step of the way, never checked on us, and didn’t come by without us flagging her down until we had written in the tip amount on the bill.

Great bar and dessert, short with the food

By lreyes |

Visited the place with some friends and enjoyed the drinks (great mojito and sangria), I also enjoyed the dessert tremendously. Great guava-infused bread pudding. Also the ambiance was nice with live music and a nice crowd. My food was real lacking. I ordered Pollo Enrollado that is chicken breast stuffed with ham. The chicken was dry, the ham was not that fresh and the whole plate lacked freshness. Presentation was Ok. The other people in the table ordered seafood and it was nice and fresh, but their chicken was a disaster.

great place!

By Viramos1 |

I really enjoy this restaurant...the food was fantastic! I had a party of 8 and were seated in our own little section with out own plasma tv to watch the game!! the drinks were on point, the atmosphere, the live music was amazing! definitely will return, my family enjoyed and the dulce de leche was to die for!

Service was very slow, though lunch was good

By YM443 |

In the middst of East Harlem, this restaurant was located. We tried their prix fix lunch for. It includes salad or soup, main, and coffee or tea. Was great value, and the food was delicious. But waiting time was sooo long! We had to wait almost 25 minutes before the main dishe was served after salad. They have liv music in the dinner time, will be back to try.

enjoyed the experience!

By marylou1017 |

My husband was wishing for a "Cuban sandwich" and located this restaurant in Spanish Harlem on a google search. We stopped on our way home from a Doctor visit. The restaurant is small and decorated with Cuban memorabilia. We were there around 5 pm and the restaurant was not crowded. I order a peach mojito..loved it! The service was a bit slow considering the restaurant was not crowded but we were in no hurry. My husband had his "Cuban Sandwich" and itmet his expectation. The portion was sizable and flavarble. I had the seafood paella. There was plenty of shrimp, mussels clams and rice. The seasoning was a little bland. Waitress was lovely and friendly. There was a setup for a band but we were not there on a band nite. We enjoyed the experience and would return.

Great Food and Ambiance

By DENISE F |

It was Puerto Rican Day Weekend, but we didn't realize there would tons of events occurring right there in Spanish Harlem. We thought the big parade in a different part of the city was it. Silly us. So we were an hour late just getting around streets closings. We called to say we were delayed. The hostess was understanding and pleasant when we arrived. We chose the back room at the suggestion of another reviewer, which worked out well. The music was great and we could still converse. Loved the food and am ready to go back. Our waiter was helpful, patiently explaining each meal about which we wanted to know more. Well worth the trip, but will be smart and avoid any celebrations/events in the neighborhood.

Mucho Amor

By HollywoodCouple |

Lets start by saying kudos to Vivian the host aka Vivi.... She was remarkable. My husband and I were driving uptown from a day of shopping in the city when we noticed this restaurant. We went in no reservations on a Saturday night. Vivi the host explained we would normally need reservations but she could seat us in the back unfortunately where we could not see the band that was going to play and we graciously accepted. We ordered drinks and appetizer when the band began to set up and play. We could hear the music perfectly from the back without the crowd that is seated up front. The food was delicious real authentic Cuban cuisine, the service was impeccable thanks to Vivian we will be back... The chimichurri sauce was delicious.

Great Cuban Food!!

By LowaDeck |

Great Place! Great Staff! Delicious Food!!!! Right in Spanish Harlem. I have been here on a few occasions. Every time I go, its a great experience. If you enjoy Cuban food, this place is really good. Great atmosphere! Have tried the Empanadas, the Tostones Rellenos, Ropa Vieja, Lechon Asado, Palomilla, Masitas Fritas, Arroz Con Pollo, and Pollo A La Barbacoa...and they are all delicious!! If you are in the neighborhood, go in and grab a bite. You will not be disappointed.

We tried this place after having read the TA reviews. It was quite good and service was great. Definitely recommend. We will be back later next time so we can hear the live music.

Amazing mothers day dinner

By Vanessa P |

I should begin by saying that from the outside you'll never guess what an amazing restaurant this is, when you get inside the restaurant the whole experience started with a warmth welcome of the lovely owner of the place, then our server Denise (I believe that was her name) was very sweet and attentive, always with a beautiful smile on her face, our food was delicious; the live music added a good touch to our dinner experience as well. Bottom line, when you get there don't let the outside stop you from enjoying one of the nicest if not the best Cuban restaurants in Manhattan!

Up in East Harlem? Try Amor Cubano for fine Cuban Cuisine

By Martin R |

Looking for a place to have lunch in connection with a visit to the Museum of the City of New York, we decided to try Amor Cubano nearby. This cozy place with a friendly atmosphere has very good Cuban cuisine. We began with a very tasty ceviche with a variety of seafood. The chicken soup was rich and hearty. One person enjoyed shrimp enchiladas, while another had an excellent Cuban-style steak sandwich, on delicious bread. Mango sangria provided an interesting change. Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

pricey

By dong sook l |

Expensive for the price. Rice with seafood dish was SO salty, I think they want you to order more drinks???

Amazing food, even better music

By BobGod8 |

Excellent service and delicious food. They know their Cuban staples: the ropa and the Cubano are exactly what you're looking for. The flan was equally delicious, light and spongy. Topping off the experience was an excellent Cuban trio performing live on and off throughout the evening. Can't miss!

Lunch Special

By Edelfelt |

Lunch Special should be called lunch normal. Nothing special here. Waitress was nice. Maybe it's better at night?

Drinks were terrible

By Maryann L |

We came here for a quick bite and drink before our actual reservation somewhere else. We decided on appitizers and mojitos. Mojitos didnt taste like mojitos and chicken empanadas were so over stuffed. First empanadas I order were ice cold in the middle so I knew they were feozen and not made to order. Second one wasnt that good either. Lacked flavor. Was happy I tried the place but not going back :/

Amazing Experience!

By Evelina |

This continues to be one of my favorite spots even after the pandemic. I was there on Friday and was a bit skeptical however, the food, staff, music was still amazing! I was happy! If you haven't worked your way to Amor Cubano - you must do so now!

A rose in Spanish Harlem

By AmyKinPhX |

Yes, there is a rose in Spanish Harlem and it is Amor Cubano. It's been three days since our lunch there and I'm still thinking about it! I had the sangria special (unlimited sangria for 90 minutes) and I enjoyed more than my fill of the white sangria. Had the El Cubano sandwich with fried plantains - super good. The service was outstanding - friendly and attentive from start to finish. We we're enjoying a leisurely lunch so they didn't hover but pleasantly came to our table whenever we motioned them. My friend had a mojito with a real sugar cane and loved it. Take the 6 train up to 110th street and it's a short walk. You'll be glad you did.

Delicious and great mojitos!!

By Julie S |

I recently ate here with my girlfriend's and we really enjoyed ourselves! It was our first meal on our trip to NYC and we were pleased with the recommendation. Everyone was happy with their food selections and the variety of mojitos was so good. Just be sure to ask for separate checks before you start ordering because they wouldn't separate them afterwards. I ended up tipping twice, so the waiter ended up with a great tip. I had forgotten tip was automatically added on large groups(we were a party of 8).

Only for Love

By caf613 |

Have you ever gone to a student production for the sole reason of supporting your child? I believe on rare occasions the show actually turns out surprisingly good but usually you need a stiff gin and tonic afterwards to get the thing out of your system. The latter case would apply to my visit yesterday of Amor Cubano. The atmosphere, service, a d live music were nice and friendly and the mojitos were spot on. We tried the classic and would have been content with sipping those 10 buck creations all night long. Generally the food lacked the flavor this Cuban native was seeking and longing for. The lechon asado was lightly flavored and had the consistentcy of overlooked tuna. It was not fall off the bone succulent and without its usual sour/salty flavor profile. The vaca frita was not overlooked and greasy and not infused sufficiently by the onion and garlic. The beans lacked viscosity and salt and or white wine. The yuca with mojo too lacked salt and garlic. But the maduros were plump and sweet and warm. However, one does not digest easily a $ 77 meal for two based on a fried plantain side dish! Generally, the food was timid, definity not a wow experience. Please get me that gin and tonic stat!

Expensive cuban food imitation

By Diego Z |

I have been here for brunch and I was disappointed by my experience. Food is average, nothing you would not find in a deli anywhere in the city. Prices though are way too high, especially in Harlem. I don't think people who write about authentic cuban dishes have ever been to Cuba. Actually, they clearly haven't. We got a Cuban sandwich (which at brunch is $1 more expensive than the regular menu for some reason) and that was ok, maybe a little dry. The real disappointment was my entree, a plate with steak (one small, dry square), eggs (which I requested scrambled and were the worst I ever had), yucca (which was ok...just tasteless) plus sides of cheese, avocado and toast. Everything tasted very bland. The best part was...the avocado slices. Just the perfect avocado. Definitely not worth $18. We also shares sangria, which I never get because you basically get juice with fruit in pieces. And that's what we got. I definitely do not recommend this place, I am sure in Harlem you can find much better food for a more reasonable price.

Great food

It absolutely worth the travel to the location, for me living in Forest Hills. Food was absolutely delicious. I was not too excited about mojitos, I am a bartender, so I am a little picky when it comes to drinks. I tried 2 kinds and it was too much sirup. I could tell this place is very busy and fun at night for the live music. Again great food and attentive staff.

Unique Cuban food AND Music

By MusicalTraveler |

Great spot for authentic Latin food, good vibe and LIVE MUSIC 4 nights a week. Good location, less than a block from the 110th Street #6 train. We went for a small birthday party and were immediately taken by the warm Latin vibe. Although those in my party were less impressed with the food, I chose the very traditional Puerto Rican style deep fried whole Red Snapper. It was fresh, juicy and not oily or greasy as many expect from a deep fried dish. The skin gets instantly fried sealing in the moist fish flesh. The band was a real highlight of the visit however. Authentic 'buena vista' style small band on a tiny stage near the front door, had personality and added an awesome fun vibe to the night. They sang and got some people up singing with them. Some people danced, and a few girls got on stage and danced with the band's fun Latin beats. Overall a very fun club. Try it.

Real Cuban as best you can get outside of Miami

By honestopinionfrank |

Here us restaurant that delivers what they say they are. Best monitor in NYC, real Cuban food, great live Spanish get up and dance music. Real Cubans own the place and work it. Place is crowed every time I go, but that's what you expect of a good food place. Make sure you book ahead or you won't get a table. Suggestion, go for their Sunday brunch and try less people more room. Then reserve for dinner you won't be disappointed. I guaranty it.

Disappointing experience

By ALuisNYC |

After my friend told me how good this place was, I needed to go since I love Cuban food. I mean, I have been to Cuba 5 times and have visited so many Cuban restaurants in NYC. The service was great but the food was far from being great. The waiter, who was the bartender, was amazing, her drinks, mojitos and we had 3 different ones, were very strong and good. My friend ordered the lemon fish from the lunch special and it was good but that's not Cuban food. I ordered the ropa vieja and was very very disappointed. It was even on the sweet side and that's not the way it should be. Afterwards, there was a new waiter/bartender, very sweet and nice, but her drinks were AWFUL! After that we knew it was time to go. I'll not recommend this place.

Neighborhood gem

Delicious food, wonderful service, and a live band! What more can you ask for? I got the sangria to drink. Strong and delicious Then I had the ropa vieja. I get this EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. it's perfect. And a huge portion. Enough to take home for lunch the next day! Go here! Get the ropa vieja. And the maduros. And then you can thank me.

Cuban homestyle in east Harlem

By U8138FMjeffs |

Mighty tasty Cuban food in a little storefront in east Harlem. We came here for an early dinner after hitting the Museum of the City of New York. We may have been the only primary English speakers in the place, but everyone there was warm and friendly and we enjoyed our dinner very much. Great cocktails too. We were glad to make the stop. A homey place with good food, a neighborhood joint worth the stop.

The Mojitos are killer and the food was impressive (did I mention the live band?)

By Mr_Barrios |

Went here last weekend with cousins for dinner and the live show. Full disclosure, I am Cuban so I have had a lot of Cuban food in my life. The Mojitos were amazing. I had a mango and a coconut one. The live show was excellent with a three piece band (piano, and two congas) and female singer. She reminded me in some ways of Celia Cruz. I ordered the pork Masitas expecting a good rendition of what I have had a thousand times before in other places. They were excellent. Very juicy and flavorful. There was some type of sauce or topping that made those Masitas sing. If you want to see the show, sit in the front room instead of the back rooms. I highly recommend Amor Cubano.

Great mood, food and live music...

We loved this little place... It was so cool, cozy. The food was amazing but the live salsa music was the high light. Like I said, the food was amazing, the mood and service was great....
