Wonderful!

By LMEastNorthport |

Wonderful brunch, delicious cocktails and soooo many tequilas to choose from! We stayed in the city a weekend in August and actually ate there three times!

Excellent tacos, margaritas and service!

By Marinite2 |

We had lunch here because the Ethiopian next door was inexplicably closed and were delighted. The soft shell crab tacos were perfect and the fish tacos were nearly so (would have preferred corm tortillas). Ask for the very nice hot sauce. Our waiter was just incredibly fun and engaging.

Festive and delicious in the heart of TriBeCa

By PhilNTed |

I’ve come here often of the years and it never fails. Great margaritas (not too sweet), Tasty food and prompt, friendly service. It’s a corner restaurant with big windows and a great vibe. If you want upscale Mexican food in TriBeCa, this should be your first stop. Great weekday lunch specials, too.

Diner with friends.

I had been to Anejo a few years ago. We were looking for a restaurant in the same location and we decided on Anejo. It was Sat night at 7 and pretty loud inside but we were able to get a table outside that was great. We had apps and drinks to start. We ordered shrimp tacos, short rib tacos, duck and wild mushroom tacos plus rice and beans and we all shared. It was a great meal, with very good service at a fair price. Luckily it was warm enough to sit outside as it would have been too loud to stay inside..

A cozy atmosphere and great margaritas!

By Ulysse T |

The service is great: servers are very friendly and joyful. The menu is precise, some people may not like it. However, I love when the frustration of choice is little.

DELICIOUS short rib tacos

By Journey with Josh |

Short rib tacos were DELICIOUS and filling. Fish tacos were good too. Loved the salsa Verde.. some of the best I've tasted. Anejo margaritas were good but small for the price. Would have been 5 dots if they had been larger. Great meal and great service.

Great lunch option if you are in the area

By travelingsmile |

Express lunch menu - 13 dollar tortas lunch menu, delicious Cold draft beer - lagers with a sweet aftertaste goes well with Mexican food Wide selection of tequillas Friendly service

Surprising Mexican in NYC

By Gentry L |

I was wary of eating Mexican food in NYC but a friend told me that Anejo was exceptional. She was right. Delicious, creative Mexican dishes with good margaritas

Unusual Latin food and wonderful Tequila Selection

By desingerinDC |

Small, hip and friendly, this place has unusual and tasty twists on traditional latin-style dishes. The mixed ceviche is the best I've ever had--with lots of different kinds of fish, avocados, and a cucumber mint broth. The variety of tequila's is wonderful and the wait staff is very helpful in helping you select a flight of them or one of their unique margaritas with a great mescal. We've been back twice and will go again. Great service and fair pricing and food portion sizes.

Amazing Mexican food in New York

By GKayY56 |

We stopped here for a quick lunch before heading home to California. The lunch we had was absolutely delicious. The entrees and sauces were very flavorful. The meat in the tacos was very tender and the combinations of ingredients were wonderful and creative. We ordered the extra guacamole for $5 and it was great. We were amazed at the large portion. Bigger than what we were used to in California. The meal was a part of the quick lunch menu and it was very quick ... nice because we were on our way to the airport. I also want to mention that the wait staff were very, very friendly and attentive. A great place.

ANNEXUS

By NEWRADICAL |

Meaning old and mature, after their array of tequila I'm sure... We visited here on a Sarurday evening but without a reservation, there wasn't anything available until a lot later, so we left, whilst waiting to cross the street to seek something else, the guy at the front of house legged it after us to say a couple of seats at the bar had become free, how could we refuse? So glad they made space, this is a really fun spot, service was excellent as was the food, guacamole is best I've had, cauliflower tacos amazing, beef tacos amazing, lamb, mixed salad all very tasty indeed... Next time will make a reservation and try out some margaritas too... We will be back thank you so much for chasing back in, that made our evening! You must come.

Amazing food, but the hostess made us feel unwelcome

By Rosie Y |

My husband surprised me with a trip to the city to celebrate my undergrad graduation, and we made a reservation here because of the amazing reviews, it was also super close to the theater. The hostess went to seat us and told us we had a 90 minute time limit, as they were booked solid that evening. As a former front of house manager, I know staff isn’t suppose to say that- we felt really unwelcome the moment we sat down. The server was amazing, the food came out promptly, and the food was DELICIOUS. I highly recommend the pork carnitas. I couldn’t help but notice that, despite the hostess saying they were booked solid, the restaurant was half empty as we ate our meal. If it weren’t for the hostess’ opening gesture, I’d definitely give five stars.

Incredible Food... Poor Service

By pilch295 |

First of all, the food here is incredible! In my 2 trips to NYC this has been the best place to eat on both occasions! The Pork Carnitas were first class. However this was massively let down by the waiter we had. The young lad serving us could not have attempted to get us out of the restaurant quick enough. He came over to the table about 6-7 times whilst eating both courses to check on us. You might find that attentive, I found it intrusive & annoying. As soon as I put my fork down as I finished my dinner, he asked "Would you like anymore food"... I said No. He then took the played away and cane back with the bill!! I hadn't even asked for it, me & my guest were gonna order some Margaritas. He obviously wanted us out the restaurant. I checked my watch and it was 9:07pm, we had been in or 37 minutes... I personally think that's shocking service. I'm hoping this is just a one-off and said waiter was having am off day... but still, just awful service. Not taking anything away from front of house who showrd us to out table politely or the Chefs who cooked up some wonderful food... but the waiter completely ruined the experience. I'd still recommended this place based on the food, I just hope who ever foes in gets a different waiter who actually can be ar5ed

Creative options!

By Lars O |

Excellent Mexican fare, with delicious margaritas and cocktails. Creative meal options, with shared-plate options abound. Great value!

Perfectly casual well done Mexican

By slscottxny |

This was a great place to stop for dinner after a theater matinee. Just far enough outside the district to get away from the throngs but easy enough to walk to. Great plates small and large. Pork belly tacos and grilled octopus!. Perfect guacamole and house made chips.

Mini Tacos, Maxi Taste

By Jeffry S |

We had a lovely, quiet, quick dinner at this 10th Avenue corner spot. Great to get away from the buzz and tourist traffic of Time Square for a between theatre dinner. The guac trio is delish (ask for no bacon on the pineapple guac if you're a vegetarian), the crispy cauliflower taco is a standout (along with the shrimp and crispy fish tacos). Great wine menu and OF COURSE tons of tequila options. On the "pricey for what it is" end of the spectrum - about $120 with tip for 2 glasses of wine, 6 tacos and guac but a solid choice.

ALWAYS GREAT!!!

By Brian P |

Made a rez here for a Friday evening with my hubby and 3 friends. We are about 10mins late for the rez but they held the table. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant towards the windows at a high table which was great. Our waiter was friendly, professional, & on top of keeping our drinks & food flowing. We ordered a bunch of tapas to share which all came out perfectly & delicious. Our drinks, margaritas, of course, were all great. This is pretty much out go to Mexican neighborhood spot. They NEVER disappoint!

Inventive cuisine

By Smurf53 |

We really enjoyed a number of creative dishes especially the ceviche and shrimp tacos. Waiter was very well informed and guided us through the options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. It is pricey but the meal was excellent and I would visit again.

Great find

By keithtdesigns |

We walked into Añejo late after seeing a show. No problem being seated. Service was prompt and efficient. Drinks were great. Tried the guacamole trio and it was delicious and quite substantial. A lot of the Mexican restaurants can be quite stingy with the guac, but these were 3 good size portions to try.....loved all 3. Our entrees were the crispy cauliflower tacos (delicious and very flavorful) and the carne asada (also delicious). Finished it off with the Mexican chocolate pudding, yum! Great post theatre dinner. Definitely worth checking out.

Great Restaurant

By John H |

We visited this restaurant in April of 2018. The food was fabulous and we loved the selection of tequila! Our waiter recommended his favorite tequila and did not disappoint!

Creative and delicious

By johntmurraysr |

If you want a great margarita go here. Traditional Mexican dishes with a creative flare. Also has dishes you don't typically see in Mexican restaurants. Try the octopus. Our server Tom was very attentive.

Average Mexican dinner

By Charles & Anna M |

A couple of us went out here for a family dinner. Overall it was OK food. I have had better tacos and guacamole other places for cheaper along with the portions are a little small here. Otherwise the atmosphere was good along with the service was very good.

Average mexican experience

By matthewbarrett60 |

We were recommended to visit here by the staff at one world observatoy. We were looking to visit a Mexican restaurant whilst in NYC. This place was ok but not the best we have ever experienced. The food was good, we weren't too pleased with the cocktail variety and the service wasn't the best. All in all an average evening meal we have certainly have had better Mexican food else where. Still was a pleasant evening and worth a try if in the area.

Amazing Mexican food in NYC

By LVALLEP |

We walked 15 min until we found it, however it was worth. The food is amazing, tasty and authentic Mexican. The lady with the curly hair was so friendly and helped with the choose. Carnitas Tacos and Churros were awesome 😋 Definitely I will come back.

Super yummy Mexican food in a nice space

By Beth Moore |

I stopped by for lunch and ate at the bar. Order a margarita on the rocks and the lamb barbacoa quesadilla - both were really great! And the service was friendly. I'll be back!

Magnificent

By Appealing56 |

While on our way to walk the High Line my wife and made a slight detour and came across Anejo Tequileria. What a find for those who like quality tequila, especially the sipping kind. Great selection, friendly and professional staff, excellent services. So nice, we visited it twice the same day.

Not bad but rushed

By Moonhead |

The hostess was great and changed our time as we arrived early but the waitress was rude, impatient, and fake. Felt rushed

A Nice Lunch

By BuddhistNYC |

had a quick lunch at this local corner spot on SE cnr of 10th, and 47th st. food was good, service wasn't very friendly, and atmosphere was al fresco, on the busy corner, which is pleasant. i had spare rib tacos, that were very tasty. recommended for Mexican in Midtown.

Fantastic Mexican Drinks and Food

By chsp01 |

The very busy Restaurant offers a perfect selection of delicious Mexican Food. The staff is outstanding Friends, quick and helpful and the entire atmosphere is perfect for a joyful dinner. Remind reservations in advance and ask for outside seating!

Nice New York find

By LPJM1981 |

Booked here for dinner. Staff were friendly and answered any questions we had. The restaurant is small so tables can be close together. Guac and chips was great, ask for more if needed. We had 2 beef and 2 cauliflower tacos plus a corn side which was more than enough and really nice

Tasty food!

By CrazyHorseDave |

Went here one afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed their lunch special. My wife is vegetarian, so we split the Wild Mushroom Quesadillas and the Cauliflower tacos. Both were a little small for the price, but tasted amazing! The chips and quac for an additional 5 bucks was freshly made and tasted awesome. The drinks were also a bit on the high side at $13 for a glass of wine. But I guess that's life in the city. Overall, a little pricey for the size of the meal, but the food was excellent quality. Service was spot on, and if it hadn't been raining out, the outside dining looked like it would have been cool. I would definitely recommend this place, and look forward to going back again myself.

Great drinks and food but oh so cramped!

By TheDoor_isopen |

This place was recommended by our hotel because it was nearby and had a good reputation. We went without a reservation and they handled it well - offering us a table near the door but then moving us when a better one became available. The place is tiny but the service and Mexican flavours are good. You need to be warned it is very, very noisy.

Awesome!

By Patti C |

We stumbled on this gem! The service was awesome. Drinks, appetizers, and entrees were beyond good. Don’t miss the corn side dish! Everyone ate mine. It is a small and cozy spot with great food.

Not worth price

By butterfly0071 |

Stopped by with friends and was seated by hostess at high top tables and the chairs are ridiculously uncomfortable .Ordered a jalapeño margarita and the serving size for a 12.00 drink was over priced .The food was adequate nothing to brag about .The octopus was tender but was served in a horrible sauce .Overall think this restaurant is over priced and the serving sizes are small .Also management should tell staff to wear gloves when serving chips to guest observed a busboy using his hands to scoop out chips from a bag not very sanitary

Excellent authentic food!

By Pheff_13 |

We had 2 meals at this restaurant and they both were fantastic. We came on this restaurant by chance and sat down to eat and the meal we had was superb. I had the red snapper and it was the best red snapper I have tasted. The service was great and we sat outside it was very pleasant. Of all the restaurants we went to in nyc this was by far the best because we had a lot of VERY expensive meals that were NOT good at all. DEFINITELY WORTH A VISIT!!!!!

Best spot on 10th Ave

By Cruiser439246 |

Walking for blocks, the atmosphere brought us in and we weren't disappointed. We had margaritas excellently made, a mushroom quesadilla, octopus tostada and the cauliflower tacos which we had to get seconds much to our surprise... who knew cauliflower could taste so good?! A little room left for the chocolate Mexican pudding and tequila flan which were to die for. Will be recommending to anyone we meet and our friends back home in Australia!

Small gem in Hell’s Kitchen

By K-M_LoveTraveling |

My husband and I were wandering around looking for a spot to eat brunch/lunch and came across this gem. Trip advisor rated it well so we decided to give it a try. We went early and there were only a few people in the restaurant. By the time we left the place was hoping and vibrant. We had great service even as the place got crowded. We tried all the salsas- they are all tasty but the Arbol and the habanero ones were our fave. The traditional guac was fresh and balanced. Next we shared a couple of small plates. The chicken chilaquiles were crunchy and there was plenty of yummy sauce covering it. The egg over top was perfect. Next the waitress recommended the pork belly tostadas. So delicious!! They presented several small tostadas topped with this crunchy outside but tender inside pork belly. We wanted to try more food but were too full. Definitely want to come back here and try their margaritas as well.

Great mexican

By tmcgeemiami |

I'm a big fan of mexican, and this place did not disapponit. Anejo Tequileria is also a fantastic place to drink. I've been here a couple times with my friends, and the atmosphere is pretty classy, but very comfortable. Do yourself a solid and use Instapark in the city.

Lunch

By Eli |

happened to be in this area and chose the first resturant we saw to eat lunch. the food was lovely and the service was very good

Good Mexican Tapas

By Harjinder B |

A good place to visit if you want to try a lot of Mexican small dishes. A little pricey for what you get but the quality is good. Would advise against this place if you want the larger Mexican dishes

Late birthday celebration

By CarlosVJ956 |

Did a trip to celebrate a late birthday the food and drinks are amazing. We had the Añejo and Mezcal margaritas we were not disappointed. The octopus was excellent along with the empanadas and ceviche mixto. Make this a stop on your next trip to NYC.

Nice simple meal

By helken2014 |

Be careful not to be getting a course you think is included! Thought I was answering question re. my meal but ended up with extra course, but it was delicious anyway. Food tasty but bill high as we drank too much plus added extras of tips, taxes, etc made it an expensive night.

Good, but overpriced tacos and small portions.

By Daria B |

Cozy restaurant with outdoor sitting. We ordered 6 tacos (as recommended by the host), chips and guacamole. The food was nice (not the best tacos I've tried, but definitely worth tasting). However, the prices are a bit off - somewhere between 20 and 23 dollars for 3 small tacos. We had 3 each and were far from full. Ended up paying around 70 dollars for food and no drinks. Will find another Mexican restaurant next time.

You want to eat Slowly

By Deirdre J |

I had a Chicken Tostados. Best darn shredded chicken sandwich I’ve had period! The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The service was top notch! Thank you!

Cool spot great drinks

By Candace C |

This is a pretty good spot to meet for drinks and Mexican tapas before a show. My bartender was excellent and so was the food.

Adequate Mexican

By NYCMike96 |

Limited menu options, designed for sharing. Spicy but oddly note flavors. Service is fine. Guacamole is pretty good.

Good food and margaritas

By famtravlesny |

We walked in on a Monday night and found pleasant service, moderate crowd, and a fun place to grab a meal. We started with the Ahi Tuna Cerviche, which was very tasty but would better be called tuna tartare. We’ve eaten many styles of cerviche. This was good but not a cerviche. We then ate the mushroom quesadilla and it was excellent. We had the fish taco main course. It was probably the weakest dish. We both thought it needed something more, like some pico de gallo, or guacamole or something to add a little flavor or kick to the taste. Margaritas are on tap and very tasty. Recommended.

Dog Friendly and Great Food

By ShandyNM |

I had the lamb chops--they were amazing. Hubby had the carnitas and loved it and he's picky about that. The guac trio was terrific. Drinks were excellent and the staff was super nice. Best of all they welcomed the dogs to the patio and brought out water for them.

A gem in Hell's Kitchen

By Carla |

Refillable chips with salsa, flavourful tacos with the lunch special, but the customer service was what made the meal. I can't recall their names, but the servers were very friendly and accommodating. They even let me take their photos! Hoping to visit again.

Best food in NYC

By macramz |

We went here because it smelled so good as we walked by going to another restaurant. Outstanding food, service, drinks, chips and salsa. Try the avocado with chips, too. I had the Braised Short Rib Tacos- three tacos that made me moan with joy! we'll be back next trip to NYC!

Hell’s Kitchen Mexican-good food, great atmosphere and location

By JenMBoston |

Stopped by on way from a play on a Saturday afternoon. Lovely outdoor dining, great guacamole and homemade chips. Fish tacos made a perfect light meal. Go!

Fabulous

By GirlfromLewes |

Amazing food, all delicious, especially the duck enchiladas. Really excellent cocktails and service was really good and friendly as well. 100% recommend this place! Sorry I can't remember our lovely waitress's name but she was really nice and helpful.

Great Food, Great Drinks, Great Price

By RomseyRoger |

We had the $47 brunch on the Sunday - extremely good value with four sharing plates preceded by guacamole, salsa and tortilla chips and a choice of four cocktails - as many as you can handle at lunch time. Good ambience and great service. Other cheaper brunch options are available and if you want more meat then these may be a better option although you can also add any plate from the menu to the brunch plates. The two hours allocated proved plenty of time to eat and drink in comfort.

Great spot, amazing food!

By Caitlin N |

Ate here recently while visiting New York for the night with my husband. The place is small, but cozy, great atmosphere, with friendly fast service. We got the guacamole sampler which was to die for. Generous portions of all 3 guacamoles, with great homemade chips, the pineapple is delicious. I highly recommend this appetizer, great for sharing. We also shared the lamb barbacoa and the shrimp tacos. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Drinks were also great, every kind of tequila you could imagine. Would definitely return here on our next trip to the city. A great find!

Tasty Mexican

By Travelerplusmom |

I nice eatery serving excellent Mexican cuisine. My wife, daughter, and I each ordered different tacos (pork, chicken, and fish) and they were all really good. Additionally, I ordered the beef empanadas and I would return to this restaurant for them alone. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. Upon my return to New York City, I will definitely return to Anejo.

Creative and delicious!

By Kathy53Usa |

We spent a wonderful evening at Anejo. Everything was so good from the flight of tequila , the food ( especially loved the lamb barbacoa , the brussel sprouts and the short rib tacos) and our server George was attentive and so much fun that definitely added to our evening.

Quite a limited menu, but all good

By Ian Martin |

This place requires a booking at busy times. The Mexican style food is good and has an NYC twist. The tables are a bit too tightly packed to have a quiet conversation without being part of someone else's evening too, which is a shame. The service was brisk and mostly of a friendly nature.

Could have stayed all day picking and drinking

By Colette K |

We stopped at this restaurant on our way to a Sunday matinee. It was during the Sunday brunch special. If we had more time we would have considered their brunch special, but you need TWO hours and it includes drinks. We had tapas and I had a great margarita, that tasted smokey (yum). The service was nice. The space is a typical small city restaurant, but pretty and a great place. I will definitely go back!

GREAT Mescal drinks, GREAT Food: Another Hell's Kitchen Gem

By Patti L |

Fourteen restaurants captured our foodie hearts on this business/pleasure family trip. Anejo Tequileria neared the top of our list for enjoyment, quality, welcoming nature...and THE DRINKS. My daughter, who's spent time in Mexico and Guatemala, proclaimed the mescal drinks sampleworthy, and I could not get enough of the smoky bite. The name always put me off--boy, have I missed out! We began our meal at Anejo with the guacamole sampler--a great place to start. The chips proved worthy of the edgy tastes not customarily associated with plain old avocado. For us, it was the tacos, which proved a great accompaniment to our appetizer and comfort food extraordinaire. On the night of our visit, the place was packed. It is tiny but that only adds to the intimacy, which is enhanced by a gorgeous bar. Our server was a great combination of skilled and friendly--just the note I appreciate. The only drawback for us was the portion sizes--a bit skimpy for NYC prices. My Southern mama side wanted to ask, "Where do we go next now that the edge is off?" Enjoy!

Wonderful Meal

By isirota1965 |

The food was tasty and unique, and the drinks were wonderful. All in all, it was a great choice for a restaurant before we headed off to a Broadway show!

Late lunch, outside dining, nice Mexican food in Hell's Kitchen

By JenMBoston |

Stopped here for solo dining and found the service welcoming and attentive. Tried the fish tacos and they were delicious. I sat inside, but there are tables outside and this is on a corner across from a park. Big windows, varied menu, full bar. What's not to like? If you are in Hell's Kitchen, it's a nice option.

Flavour bonanza

By beaglelover56 |

My wife and i had dinner and were looking for a lighter meal. The flavours in our food would bring us back without hesitation. Great ambience and service. NYC pricing though. We had chips and Guac, 1 Margarita, 2oz Herradura and two tacos. $65 without tip. I don't mind paying for quality.

Absolutely awesome great hospitality

By Alberto A |

First of all jobana service was excellent talk about hospitality. I work in the hospitality industry all I have to say is WOW under her management leadership she awesome But the waiter service everyone awesome won't be the last Came out to enjoy for my girlfriend and best friend bday which they share same bday and can't stop writing good things. I believe you guys are Doing great here atmosphere is great. Everyone not just neighborhood should try this place small but hey is worth it who cares

Great food

By Magnus_sk |

This place serves contemporary Mexican cuisine, and it tasted really good. Cocktails they served were also good, and our waiter was helpful in explaining and recommending dishes for us. Rather noisy venue, and very busy and popular - so make sure to book a table in advance.

Drink with wife

By SNOWBALL |

Stopped here for a drink. This place is in Hella Kitchen. We had a shot of Tequila which was the choice of Jennifer. It was the smoothest Tequila I have ever had. The menu looked fantastic and the prices reasonable. Next time we are back in the big apple this is a must for dinner.

Great drinks, good food!

By Jen S |

Good Mexican, great margaritas. Nice variety of small plates for sharing. Good corner location with outside seating.

Disappointed

By Katie |

Made a reservation for this restaurant at least a couple of months in advance whilst planning our NYC trip, but this isn’t enough to secure a table inside the actual restaurant. We arrived on a rainy Friday evening (on time) and were swiftly led to a table which is essentially in a shed outside on the pavement with no heater and zero atmosphere. We didn’t really fancy having our food and drinks carried through the rain and New York streets to get to us and being freezing cold all night (maybe we’re just being fussy!!) Such a shame as we were really looking forward to trying this place and we just wasted a lot of money on taxi fares instead!

Mexican like you've never tasted

By Passionflower200050 |

The food here is light and delicate and so tasty! It's not bogged down with heavy cheese and beans - so much more. The tuna tartare on a tostada was amazing, the little tacos delicious - I don't think anything was disappointing - we ate twice during our stay in NYC. And the margaritas pack a punch - try the spicy one!!

Five Stars Brunch and Lunch

By Hector P |

Great atmosphere, very happy place frequented by young professionals. Very good Mexican food and cocktails, blasting Latin music make the place enjoyable. Recommended.

Good food, shame about seating

By Tinkerbella1979 |

If you’re looking for a lighter portion than the standard NY size, this could be a good option for you. We had 3 chicken tacos and empanadas with a couple of sides, and it was just enough for us. It’s not massively spicy if that’s what you’re after, but it tasted great. Only complaint is the seating. It’s a small place and tables for two are positioned so close that you feel like you’re intruding on someone else’s dinner! I would recommend asking for a high table as they seemed more spaced out.

Great Mexican food!

By JoD R |

We went on a Sunday and they offered a Sunday Brunch that included 3 drinks. We went off the regular menu and had tacos and sangria. The sangria was delicious and so were the tacos. This is definitely a local place that attracts young people in their late 20’s. The service was great and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend going.

Fantastic lunch meal

By Alan |

Excellent lunch, great bar and the $13 lunch menu with drink is a real treat ....... Tachos are really good

Higher Quality Mexican

By Tom L |

Anejo is not your typical Mexican restaurant. It is a bit classier. The lighting is more subdued, the music is a bit lower and the pace is less frantic. They specialize more in shareable Mexican tapas. We enjoyed four of them: guacamole, chicken empanadas, wild mushroom queso and shrimp tacos. Four dishes for two people was perfect. We enjoyed the flavours in all the dishes. The preparation was a bit more refined. Along with this we enjoyed a bottle of rose wine. Service was acceptable but not overly effusive. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food that we received.

Tasty Mexican food and great tequila cocktails

By Travel_J33 |

Great corner location right in Hell's Kitchen. Delicious tequila and mezcal based cocktails (El Maestro was my favourite) in a great atmosphere. Try the summer patio! The food was excellent as well. The tacos were the highlight, and the tuna ceviche with orange canela broth was also very tasty!

Great Authentic Quality & Value-Hell's Kitchen

By CMT-JWT |

Pre/post concert or play, brunch-great tastes and service. Try 5-7 specials. Basics like guacamole and fried fish tacos are superb. Went back a few times on recent visit. Good advice on tequila options. Go!

Another gem in Hell's Kitchen

By hoodymae27 |

Both my family that we were visiting and the concierge of our hotel recommended this place, and it did not disappoint. Best margaritas I've had in a long time--so I ordered a few (paid for that later). The different guacs were wonderful, although since we were sharing I wish the portions were bigger. Loved their chips, tasted like they made them on site. The fish tacos were great, and my husband loved the pork tacos. Nice ambiance too!

Nice place, excellent food

By Ana D |

It is a lovely nice place, easy, with a friendly atmosphere. The place at 6.30 pm was already packed:), it is clear they have a lot of clients. Food was tasty, tacos - excellent. Be sure to make a reservation before, we only found placed at the high table:) which was fun. But in case you want some privacy it is better to call before. The pricing was also very friendly:), staff was nice also. A very pleasant location for dinning Mexican food.

Excellent

By NCtravelz |

We had such a great meal, we went back the next day. The food is great and the service is excellent. The guac and chips are a highlight but everything else was good. We caught a late lunch one day and the lunch menu is a great deal. The cocktail menu is worth stopping in for. We only went in the afternoon and things were pretty slow, I'm not sure what it's like in the evenings.

Last minute dinner for 2

By susan c |

excellent food. attentive staff. clean. Easily accessible parking. Very fairly priced. Was looking for a place to eat that didn’t require reservations at the last minute. Great indoor and outdoor seating options.

Very friendly and delicious

By Kat R |

The stuff was very friendly, the guacamole was fresh and delicious and tacos were very appetizing. Additionally, very good margaritas

Good food but tiny portions

By osb212 |

Pleasant service and atmosphere, but the size of the portions is a joke. Our party of two had: one beer each, two (tasty) tiny tacos each, a shared order of guacamole, and a shared small order of fries. The bill was $75 with tip. I know it is New York, but.........

Bright spot in Hell’s Kitchen

By Richard R |

We were staying down the block at the Yotel and wandered into Añejo, without a reservation, pre-theatre. Although busy at that hour, the hostess said she needed the table at a certain hour and we said no problem as we were on our way to Broadway. In we went! Nice atmosphere, a neighbourhood vibe, and really good food. Mexican kicked up a notch for sure. An example: we ordered the Wild Mushroom Quesadilla and it comprised Blue corn masa, swiss chard, wild mushrooms, goat cheese crema, salsa verde. We also ordered the mixed ceviche (good but needed more cilantro) and the "Drunken" Lamb Barbacoa — Braised lamb shoulder, adobo, salsa borracha, warm corn tortillas. Terrific for pre theatre. Comfort food with fine flavours Also had an excellent Mezcal cocktail. In and out in 45 minutes. Many also ordered tequila flights (if only we had time). The main courses and tacos looked very good and the guacamole—Traditional, Bacon & Habanero, or Spicy Pineapple—or all three together for $20 seemed to be on most of the tables. Hard to find quality Mexican in New York but it’s here at Añejo so venture out of the main streets and take a look. It’s very good.

Nice lunch spot

By Santeka Grigley |

It was a nice spot for a Saturday lunch. My favorite was the guacamole. The brussel sprouts were also good. I just wish the menu listed meat was included in the dish. There's both inside and outside seating, which is awesome for warmer weather days.

Stunning!!

By Nikunj P |

Very very nice food and service. Drink menu brilliant, service fabulous and food was out of this world.

Genuine mexian food!

By LeonaNick |

Very delicious authentic food and also very friendly service. Enjoyed a great time. Highly recommend the „Pork belly tostada“👌😋

BUENO!!

By travelnut |

Found this wonderful place thru some research prior to our trip, and so glad we did. Nice enough weather for patio dining , I had the Octopus, and wife the Chicken Mole also had the Jalapeno Margaritas. Bothe dishes and the cocktails were fantastic. Apologize for forgetting the name of our server, but he was fantastic. We had a Tequila flight with chocolate covered almonds for desert and they were all top shelf. Would return anytime for great drinks, food and service. It is NY priced but well worth it.

Wonderful meal in Hell's Kitchen

By Judy A |

We were looking for a place to have an early dinner before going to the theater, and as a Top Chef fan, I was curious about Angelo Sosa's place. We arrived early for our reservations and had the choice of getting a table or sitting at the bar. Since it was happy hour, we decided on the bar. We got an order of guac that came with some of the best chips I've ever had. We also got the carnitas fries, which were delicious. My sister commented on how unusually good the fries were and that's when she discovered they were yucca. For dinner we had a variety of tacos, all of which were delicious. As an afterthought, I got a side order of esquites (butter poached corn) and I'm really glad I did. It turned out to be one of the best things we got. The bar is stocked with a variety of tequila and mezcal, and they have a great selection of cocktails. Aside from the fact that the food and drinks were really delicious, the service at Anejo was excellent. From the greeter to the guys bussing the tables, all of the servers were friendly and attentive. If you're looking for typical refried-beans-and-rice Mexican fare, Anejo isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for Mexican flavors done in an interesting and thoughtful way, I highly recommend Anejo.

Best Mexican in NYC

By Simon H |

We were for the first time in Anejo in Hell's Kitchen so we did not really know what to order. The staff explained all the recipes to us in a really friendly and patient way and answered all our questions. The food was excellent and i can recommend to everyone to have a Mexican diner at Anejo with an excellent cocktail!

Best happy hour in midtown NYC!!

By sonalim |

Rating this place as one of the best happy hours in midtown Manhattan. Jennifer, the bartender will go out of her way to make sure you get the drink you want !! Have visited this place many times - always had a great experience.

Nice neighborhood spot

By SDS769 |

We were having a staycation at a nearby hotel. Nice neighborhood spot but nothing to go out of your way for. Best dishes were the wild mushroom queso fundido and the carne asada with yuca tater tots. The service was very attentive. A fun place.

Back again!

By Rcanaga |

About five years ago Linda and I found this place just a block from our B&B. We discovered the best array of tequilas we ever saw!. And we found guacamole to match. Three versions including added pomegranate , spicy pineapple, and a normal approach, all were amazing! After a trip back a couple of years ago we again were so pleased. Today the resurrected the Pomegranate mix just for us! We tasted through a range of tequilas and meccals and chatted about the different barrels for aging. Learned a lot! Next time we are in town, this will be our first meal.

Nice atmosphere and bar area

By danibrig |

We came here for drinks. It's a similar price to other spots in this area. They had a very nice bar area with a good selection of drinks. We had their guacamole which also was tasty. Overall, would come again for drinks, but probably not for the food itself!

Amazing Guac & Tacos

By Stephanie C |

Really good food & service in Anejo! We had the Guac trio that was recommended and thoroughly enjoyed it, in particular the spicy pineapple guac. Then had the pork belly, soft rib and chicken tacos and nothing disappointed. Really tasty food! The restaurant has a really cool vibe and is very relaxing

An amazing brunch!

By Kayleigh R |

This was hands down amazing and incredible value for money. Each course was delicious and presented beautifully! We had $47 brunch and it was worth every penny! The margaritas were delicious, the staff were attentive and the food was incredible! Definitely worth a visit!

Quality Food, Solid selection of Tequila at Affordable Prices

By klotzba |

Went here two our of the four nights we visited NYC. My husband and I like our Tequila and have a pretty nice collection of our own, but love tasting new ones when given the opportunity. Our nephew steered us to this place as he lives in NYC. Glad he did. Unlike a few places we've visited the staff actually knows their product. Make sure to ask them, they won't steer you wrong, they pack some good Anejo's and Reposado's which are our favorites. We had a couple of our standbys and then did a flight. The food was also wonderful. Liked the rib taco's and the pork one's too. The second night we tried the chicken and the shrimp taco's and met our nephew there. Oh, and don't leave without trying the Flan. Maybe the best Flan I've ever had and I've had it many places. They've got that down pat! A small, little place, but big in so many important ways. Our kind of place and what makes NYC worth visiting! For NYC we thought the prices were affordable and as usual our liquor bill was more than our food bill! Ha!

Yum!

By kristinedenise |

I am embarrassed to say that I saw this restaurant on a Bravo tv show. On a trip into the city, we gave it a try. It was a nice surprise. Start with the guacamole trio, it will not disappoint. We had the street tacos and I am still thinking how delicious they were. Defintely have a margarita! We will return to this restaurant again.

Good not good xceptional

By Logan225 |

Food was solid. Well prepared. Salsas were good not great. Service at the bar was attentive. Great nyc quality meal. Good for a 1 time visit. I was not at all disappointed in nyc with so many choices it takes a lot to earn a repeat visit.

Vegan options if you ask

By DugJam |

We visited this place in Hells Kitchen with another couple. We are all vegan and the staff went out of there way to adjust dishes to suit. Many of the sides were also vegan friendly and very tasty. Starters Guacamole which we asked them to bring with vegetables was excellent The tacos with fresh veg and mushrooms was excellent too. The selection of tequilas was fantastic and the one we tried was excellent. Not the cheapest of places but very enjoyable .

Authenticity with class

By Arlenee L |

I love this place! Definitely a great place to get some good Mexican food but still keep the NYC Chic feel. My favorite is the grilled octopus and the ambiance is always good here.

Birthday Brunch

By TeeMa J |

The 2 hour unlimited mimosas, sangria and margaritas and the food made for a REALLY good birthday celebration. The French Toast was the best I had and if you eat it with the perfectly prepared bacon in the same bite...that is the best taste ever. The entire staff was friendly, the food was plentiful and the drinks were on point!

Great find as we were passing by

By Dicky M |

Great food, good drinks, friendly service and a decent price to boot. What more is there to say? A great local eatery that's well worth a visit if in the area.

Great food and cocktails!

By venicethemenace |

I really enjoyed this place, which was situated just across the road from where I was staying in Hell's Kitchen. Order to the pork tacos and rib quesadillas and you'll be impressed. Great cocktails too!

Better Tapas Than Barcelona!!!

By Georgina |

This place is honestly the best tapas I have ever had! You are recommended to choose four items off the menu to share. The food is so rich in flavour and just leaves you wanting more! I wish my stomach was bigger so I could have had more because it was incredible!!! Definitely worth a visit! A great place, can book a reservation on the yelp app, great friendly staff who help you with recommendations and an amazing list of tequilas! When I come back to New York I will be visiting back here because it is to die for!!!

Just great

By Drew K |

I came in with my spouse and had just great bites all around. Duck enchiladas, pork tacos, yuca fritas, bacon habanero guacamole and a delicious, well balanced and quite deceptively string margarita! Host was friendly and so was waiter! Food was prompt and scrumptious. Can’t wait to go again!!! Thank you for the great food and good service!

Creative Mexican in Hell's Kitchen

By thomaslegner |

Anejo offers creative Mexican food with a twist. The tuna tluyada and pork belly tostadas are both excellent. Service is very friendly, pricing is OK for NYC. Worth a visit if you are in Hell's Kitchen or Tribeca.

One of the best bar experiences in my life

By davidmG8728HY |

Perhaps one of the best bar experiences in my life. My buddy and I wanted to try some good mezcal, as we'd both recently been introduced to it. We could not have gone to a more perfect bar, nor had any better service from a bartender! He was extremely helpful and generous with his time, suggesting different styles and producers. We stayed for nearly 3 hours trying different mezcals and chatting with the bartender. Really an amazing experience!

Best taqos

By Teddy Andaluz |

Great option to enjoy Mexican cuisine and try all the best of it, in line with glass of margarita or bottle of Corona!

$144 for tacos!

By Jay W |

Visited with relatives. Our party of 4 ordered 2 beers, 1 Margarita, chips and salsa, guacamole, and 8 tacos. Bill without tip - $144! Taco were tasty but small street tacos. One of our party ordered the duck tacos. They were even smaller - about 2 inches wide and 1 inch high. Yes, I know that Manhattan can be expensive, but you shouldn't leave hungry after that much money. My wife and I had a peanut butter sandwiches when I got home that night.

Good fun food

By cdela10 |

Anejo Tequileria is a quaint fun eating establishment. We ate at Anejo’s on a cold Sunday night. We were greeted and shown to our table. We got there around 8pm. They have a nice bar area and tables to eat/drink at. We had a table not a lot of room so you may be seated very close to others this was not an issue for us. Meals are designed to share tapas style. We had tacos and carne asada. Tacos where okay but the Carne Asada was excellent. The meat was cooked to perfection and the sauce was very yummy. If you’re looking for a typical Mexican restaurant this is not it. If you’re looking for something different in Mexican food this is the place. Highly recommend for a date. Will be back to this place.

Nice place for apps and people watching

By Kristy_DC |

My son and i recently stopped in here on a hot afternoon for a drink and an appetizer. The empanadas were so good, we ordered another plate of them. The homemade chips and guacamole were also outstanding. I enjoyed my Blanco margarita, while my son enjoyed both the Mezcal and Jalapeno margaritas. Our server, Ramiro, was very attentive without being intrusive.

People watching over lunch

By Pete R |

Stopped for lunch on our last full day in NYC. Sat outside on pavement (sorry, sidewalk!!) and had small dishes but thoroughly enjoyed them. Relaxing to be served good food by a pleasant waitress while watching the world go by

The pineapple guac is the reason to go

By John freeman |

We live in NYC and haven't ever been here. Came on a whim last night and it was great. The service the food the ambiance. Everything. I had the skirt steak which was cooked better than most NYC steakhouses we have been to lately (I'm looking at you Benjamin's) and the guac was incredible. Get the pineapple guac.

Tasty tacos and guacamole

By mghtycthul |

The shrimp tacos were very tasty as was the guacamole. Had the jalepeno margarita which was also a highlight of the visit. Good food all around.

Really good food but small

By jk11190912 |

Really good food but small portions for the high price. Guacamole trio was tasty and chips are great but $26 for guacamole and chips is a little crazy. Service was fast but the waitress seemed annoyed with us when we didn’t want alcoholic drinks. Also, tables are basically on top of each other, almost communal dining style so you felt like you were eating with your neighbors. I realize it’s NYC and space is tight, but it was slightly uncomfortable.

Incredible up scale Mexican dining

By Peter D |

Firstly if you’re after Fajitas and the standard Mexican fare I suggest you go to TGI Fridays or similar. This is borderline fine dining Mexican food. Portions are on the small side but incredibly tasty. Recommend the triple guacamole starter. We booked in advance as this is reasonably close to Broadway theatres. Our waiter Kevin was polite efficient friendly and most of all knowledge, took his advice on portion sizes and levels of spice - spot on. Having read some of the negative reviews I would say ignore them, really high quality food presented well and fair to mid price. Strongly recommend a visit if you can get a table, best restaurant we’ve eaten at in NYC.

Birthday celebrations

By Denise M |

Fun place, great food & wait staff. The only issue is the seating situation. Cramped seating either @ bar or rows of tables. Noisy too - so get ready to shout out times to hear your conversation. But good food makes up for it - enjoy!

In general, not a very cozy place!

By Анастасия К |

The food was not tasty at all, the only thing that looked like Mexican food was gucomole. We ended up paying $180; they ate almost nothing, and the child was sick and his stomach hurt!

Great variety of drinks and food

By kellieknights |

Good service, food came out really fast. Small sized restaurant, Our waiter recommended the peppers dish and this was full of great flavours, guacamole was great and the fish tacos excellent.

Good food and Service

By HECTOR D |

We visited this restaurant for diner. Reservation after 6:00 pm recommended. Waiter very helpfull and friendly. Fish tacos were very good. My wife ordered shrimp tacos and she liked too. This place is famous for alcoholic drinks like tequila. The place is small, simple decorated. Not for groups. Tex-mex not genuine mexican food.

Please visit

By neelay01 |

Went to the casual all day restaurant. Tried all the tacos. They were all delicious! Highly recommended. The drinks are great too!

Anniversary meal

By Shirley F |

Has a fantastic meal eating the suggestions made by our server Elise. What a treat for our 45th wedding anniversary including the complimentary dessert , scrumptious , and so kind of Elise. Due to come back to NY at the end of the month and will definitely be eating here again thank you

Delicious food flavours and great ambience

By Dan W |

We had a spontaneous midweek dinner here while visiting NYC for the week and staying fairly close by in the Yotel. The food flavours were incredible, with the fish tacos a particular highlight. Margaritas were also good, if a little on the small side. Great food, a nice relaxed/cosy atmosphere with a very modern and trendy feel. By the time we'd ordered a few tapas dishes and a couple of margaritas though, the total price at the end was a bit higher than I would've expected - so it loses one star rating for value.

Dinner before a show

By yurothamotha |

Son picked out this place based on reviews. It was a nice walk from the Port Authority Bus Term. Enjoyed happy hour at the bar with delicious $8 blanco margaritas (Milagro silver, Cointreau, fresh lime and agave) and seasonal frozen margaritas (hint of lavender). Ordered a market salad, which was shared among the 4 of us, and many small plates: guacamole (great chips), wild mushroom quesadilla, 5 tiny pork belly tostada, (each smaller than a ritz cracker), 3 very small duck carnitas enchiladas, short rib tacos, crispy fish tacos. Everything was very flavorful but expensive. Three drinks ordered at the table and food with tip was about $195 for 4 people. Ouch! Service was excellent but the restaurant was not crowded at 5:30. Rating is based on the food...not price.

Excellent food, good service , good atmosphere

By TravelGuyExplorer |

we had dinner to Anejo, excellent fresh authentic Mexican food, good service, atmosphere is a bit loud and noisy but lively .. so we had a good time ! nice evening out

Chic Bar/Restaruant

By VacationPlanner6 |

Loved this place for its tasty drinks, guacamole, salsa and choice of tacos. Small but never left us feeling cramped. Great place for late night light dinner or drinks and a snack.

Just amazing!

By Joanne |

Came for for an early dinner and everything was incredible - our beautiful waitress (sorry we did not get her name!) started us off with delicious margaritas - the tequila list is impressive. We had the guacamole, short rib tacos, and fried fish tacos. So so good. Fresh and so flavorful! We ended with tres leche cake, which was light and sweetened with delicious strawberry purée. Love this restaurant!!! We’ll be back for brunch!!!

Excellent Guacamole

By RxDive |

Excellent Guacamole! Corner Mexican restaurant on the westside. Inside and outside seating with reservations recommended. Wonderful appetizers, fresh chips and salsa. Normal pricing unlike the many overpriced places in the city. Good margaritas and cold Corona!

Not bad but nothing special

By Ben T |

Looking for a good Mexican spot in Hell’s Kitchen, this place had good reviews. On approach it looked good. Unfortunately service was poor and food was nothing special. One of those places that makes a traveller annoyed with having to tip for poor service.

Waitress and chef

By Peachy fam P |

I came here today as any regular day with my boyfriend we always come here this is one of my favorite taco places. The last two times I’ve been here it’s been different manger’s I notice today for some reason I tell my waitress what I want and she still gets the order wrong.bring it back.and cokes back out to bring it back with idk what was that I tell her take it back I explained to her I come all the time I show her pictures of my food same thing I get everytime and she tells me the chef said he doesn’t make it like that so I show pic now she brings it back out with everything on the side so I basically had to make my own taco I’m very disappointed today in the service they really need to improve.

Drinks & bar food

By reedo452 |

Was there for drinks & bar food with co-workers last night. Nice selection of premium spirits and terrific tequila drinks and beers. Mezcal cocktails were great! Very good Guacamole and hot sauce with warm traditional authentic chips. Small place, nice and cozy-not too big. Will definitely be back.

Pre show dinner and drinks

By Todco |

Wonderful food and great margaritas. We started with the Shishito peppers and guacamole.. We shared the fish tacos, mixed green salad and the ahi tuna and the beet salad. Staff were very accommodating in getting us in and out in time to make our 7pm showing of Kinky Boots.

Highly recommend food/drinks

By Kristine B |

Stumbled into this place while walking back to our hotel and glad we did. It's a bit small and they apparently fill a lot of tables up with reservations so keep that in mind. When we walked in off the street we (and others behind us) were told we had a set amount of time and we'd have to leave for reservations. We had plenty of time to order and eat but no hanging around, which was fine by us. Just head's up. They had the windows open and patio seating - across from park with gorgeous trees in bloom. Great setting; good service (we felt a little pressure to hustle our guy since the host put us on the time clock). FANTASTIC: Blanco margaritas, guac and chips were beyond fantastic, empanadas a little dry but tasty, chicken el pastor tacos were amazing as were yuca fritas.

Great food, wonderful service!

By WorldTraveler026 |

I did not have a reservation, but they kindly made room for me before the pre theater rush. The wild mushroom quesadilla was outstanding and the service was fabulous. I look forward to returning.

Tacos and tapas

By shvarz |

The menu is mostly small plates, including a selection of tacos, which come in twos or threes. Most of the food was really good, although we were not too impressed by ceviche and octopus. Cocktails are original, but we thought they were just OK. Good service and atmosphere. Overall, not 5 stars, but a solid place, we'll be back if we are in the neighborhood.

Lovely tacos and margaritas, perfect.

By Caroleannes |

Lovely and friendly, get a drink at the bar and try one of the many margaritas, the blood orange was lovely. Food was fresh and the salsa and guacamole prepared at the table. We loved all the tacos. Well worth it
