Enjoyable Lunch!

By Go801349 |

Good lunch specials, the expected, and the unexpected....both excellent! Adam was a great server. Fresh hot tortillas, two tasty salsas. Would return in a hot second!

Outdoor seating is very atmospheric

By travel-hawthorne |

We just stopped here for a drink and they were very accommodating and giving us a beautiful outdoor table for an hour. We were lucky to get in because most places are booked at that time. Even though we only had a drink and small appetizer, Service was very attentive and the atmosphere was lovely.

Good food

By nyfoodie2000 |

Went for late dinner and was sitting outside. Was a good NY evening but the tables and chairs can be a little better. Service outside also can be faster, but was OK Got Fish tacos for starter and Cod for main. Tacos were great and Fish was good also but had to order a side order of Rice and Beans as the corn that came with it was too little for a side. Over all good food

So many other places to spend $$!!

By ihsbjb |

We went there for dinner. One of the drinks we ordered was a VIRGIN mojito (non-alcoholic drink). Server waited until the drink was drank a bit to tell us that the bar made a mistake and put alcohol in the mojito!! That's unacceptable!!! Margaritas were good. Had to ask twice for a sparking water. The food was passable. Then for desserts, we asked for tea and server told us they had no teas, at all. Tea was listed on the dessert menu. The server was not on top of things. There are so many other restaurants in the area!

Great choice for Mexican food

By Wanderer581490 |

The food smells so good when you walk through the door. I recommend you make a reservation as it is a very popular place. Outstanding hospitality, really good, tasty food.

Must Try

By Suzy D |

We found this restaurant while at the top of One World Tower and thought we’d give it a try. The flavors were amazing and the service was fantastic. It was our favorite meal of our trip. So glad we have it a try.

Late Night Tacos Can't Be Beat

By amethyst198 |

We were searching for a late dinner (around 10 or 11 p.m.) in the neighborhood we were staying, Tribeca. We'd passed this restaurant earlier in the day and loved the trendy feel of it. We decided to try our luck and see if they were still serving food. On a Tuesday night, the place was completely empty, but we were lucky enough that we got there in time to sit at the bar and order a few tacos with chips and salsa and their homemade margaritas. The bartenders said that Tuesdays could be busy or slow, and this one happened to be a slow night. But they were super accommodating ad friendly, and the food and drinks were fabulous. We got the chicken tacos with the chips and verde salsa. Definitely a good choice!

Wow! The food was out of this world!

By Heather L |

The food was so good I think I'm still dreaming of it! The pork appetizer melts in your mouth, everything had a distinct and robust flavor. The atmosphere was relaxed but infused with sophistication. A great vibe and a great night out.

Great food.. Felt like I was in Texas!

By Crystal F |

We visited NYC from the Mexican food capital, San Antonio. We needed a quick bite next to our hotel, The Roxy. We stopped in and we were pleasantly surprised that the Mexican food was delicious! I had the chicken tacos and my husband had the pork tacos- both delicious. The guacamole is a must. The Anejo margaritas were awesome and took the edge off of our awful cab ride! The service was not so great or friendly but then again- NYC is not Texas! Enjoy the good food here!

Good ambiance but little else

By Ric |

A cute little Mexican restaurant. Had a lot of energy and was loud, but I like that. It went down from there. The waitstaff was ok. Didn’t really do anything poorly but didn’t really stand out either. The food was also ok. We had tacos and guacamole. The guacamole and chips were very good. The shrimp tacos were good but the carnitas and short rib tacos were very bland and a bit dry. NYC has so many restaurants to try that it would take a great meal to come back to a place. This was not one of those places.

Best chips and salsa

By windy1875 |

Just across from the roxy hotel where we are staying we decided to give this a try as we love Mexican and we were not disappointed. The chips and four dips to start were delicious washed down with frozen margaritas !! We then shared the chicken and beef tacos which were just as delicious we would recommend

High end Mexicana

By Superally2007 |

And okay addition to NYC's Mexican cuisine, high end, but with some traditional touches. Staff were friendly and attentive and prices were a touch high for small plates and drinks were mixed well. Atmosphere was laid back and nice toilets.

Excellent in every way!

By shoegalJersey |

The food was excellent quality and well priced. We had the lunch special, a few to share! The service was very friendly and attentive. The manager Benny made a big effort to speak to us and make us feel special x they made a big deal of our daughter’s birthday and also gave us complimentary drinks which we weren’t expecting.

Amazing Brunch and Bottomless Drinks!!!!

By greg s |

My wife and I along with my sister and brother in law visited Anejo Tribeca for Sunday brunch while we were visiting NYC. After paying $10-12 per drink all week at most places, it was a nice change of pace to pay only $12 for unlimited Sangria, Mimosas, Margarita and Bloody Marys. The brunch itself is $35. The menu is set and is served family style so the whole table needs to participate. The food was sooooo good. And the drinks are topped up quickly. They say you have a 90 minute window to enjoy the drinks but we were there for close to 2 hours and didn’t feel as if we were being rushed out. Next time I’m in NYC I will definitely be back here!

Excellent cocktails and drinks

By Ealgian |

This is a Tribeca / Hells Kitchen spot so you know it's pricey, but the drinks are strong and service is good with professional staff. Recommend pork belly tostadas and the chicken empanadas. Pass on shishito peppers (though you probably already knew that. I mean honestly, what's so incredible about roasted peppers? Don't just me, my friend ordered them). The empanadas were small appetizer sized but toasty and delicious. Everyone talks about Empanada Mama which I tried and didn't like and was sort of turned off from trying more empanadas. Good thing I decided to give them a second go, and here. They don't skimp on the tequila when it comes to their cocktails. Cucumber Crush was especially good / refreshing, Lemonita also good. Wanted to try Mole Noche but they were out (?) which was sad because A) it sounds awesome and B) it was only 7 PM. But maybe they just want me to come back?

Super nice staff and yummy margaritas!

By Bickidan |

I popped into Anejo while out walking around the area and found the bartenders super friendly and personable (male and female). They made excellent recommendations on appetizers, also. I had the corn dumplings, which were adorable little sweet corn bites, smothered in a lovely chorizo sauce. I also had the Berkshire pork belly tostadas, little half-dollar sized tostadas topped with fresh ingredients and delicious pork. I will be back! Yay for single ladies like me who can find a bar with gorgeous crystal chandeliers, warmth, and friendly patrons who jump at the chance to "talk mezcal" with me.

Late lunch - very pleasant

By Carol0910 |

We met a friend here and had a late lunch. We started with guacamole which was good and then had short rib tacos which were very good. The margaritas were excellent and overall it was a pleasant place to spend time.

great!

By Vicky N |

I have been working in Tribeca for some time now and I really like this place! I stumbled across it on a work dinner but so glad i made it!

Mixed experience

By idaham |

Service was ok, interior- very very nice, restrooms- very clean, BUT very small portions for the prices. Also, it was so incredible noisy, that I could barely hear my friend sitting right next to me. The whole evening was more like shouting in each other's ears instead of having nice chat and cosy dinner. The tortilla was very fatty, the guacamole not so tasty as in other Mexican restaurants. In general, only the desserts were tasty. There is also a bar on the underground floor that Looks nice and people had fun, probably next time I will try visiting it instead of eating whatever on the ground floor.

coolest bartender - Luis

By Luis C |

I've been to Anejo several times and when I sit at the tables the servers seem to be a bit standoffish and preoccupied. However, I sat at the bar on one of my recent visits and Luis was so attentive, friendly and professional. Although he was busy he always assured the bar patrons were taken care of. And always smiling. I wished ALL bartenders had the same compassion as Luis. Thank you Luis for such great service

Nice vibe!

By Suelenmorais |

Quite pleasant atmosphere served with nice drinks and ok food. Service was fine and would return if am nearby the city. One point, for the same type of restaurant you can find better restaurants in term of foods. However, want pays here it is the nice cool latin vibe.

Excellent Weekend Brunch

By Jove99 |

A friend recommended Anejo to us and we were not disappointed. The bottomless brunch was excellent. The food was interesting and the wonderful Sangria flowed freely. The service was very good in a very chic setting. Excellent value for money @ $39 per head. Highly recommend but make a reservation. Definitely on our 'must visit' list when we are next in New York City.

So So ..

By Vol D |

I'm wasn't impressed. We started with the guacamole, nice with great chips and ordered Sangria, so so, and expensive. We ordered Carne Asada and Chicken "Estilo al Pastor", both fine, however, it took over 30 minutes, they blamed the Chicken. After inquiring about our dinner people ran around and apologized. They asked if we needed another Sangria I told them only if they were comp'ed due to the very long wait time, they eventually agreed. Our take on what happened was they forgot to fire the dinner order. Anyway, long story short, we're not going back, so many other great places in the hood.

AMAZING Private Party / Babyshower

By CamsVacations |

I've had my babyshower (brunch) at Anejo Tribeca in their private room, which turned out to be a lot more than I hoped for. From the event manager (Catherine), to the location manager (Malene) to each and every staff that waited the tables, the bartender, and even helped with setting up - absolutely every single one of them went above and beyond to accommodate my requests and make my guests feel special and well taken care of. Not to mention the food is amazingly delish and the so were the drinks. An absolute MUST-TRY whether you come for a regular dining experience or consider it for a private party. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone at Anejo Tribeca !

Burritos and Guac

By Bry P |

Had a wonderful lunch at Anejo. Staff were friendly and helpful with the menu. We ordered Burritos and Guacamole - all the food was delicious! They even brought us an extra tray of chips on the house so we could finish what was left of our guac. 5 out of 5!

Nice Mexican lunch

By YaninaLeCristal |

Great place for Mexican specialties, margaritas and more. Take advantage of lunch specials it’s a great deal. Lovely ambiance, good service.

AMAZINGLY AUTHENTIC!!!!!!

By Alynn28 |

Incredible authentic Mexican food right in TriBeCa. The drinks were outstanding and the food was incredible. Chain Mexican food isn’t my go too, however, I do love authentic Mexican cuisine. I would highly recommend anyone to go here! You will not be disappointed! I would go back in a heartbeat!!

Perfect Mexican lunch at a great price

By DreamaG |

We had a great lunch at Anejo. The lunch special is priced well and offers a large selection of items. The special includes an entree, chips and salsa and rice and beans. You can also upgrade to include two drinks. The service was good and food was tasty. A nice casual lunch option if you’re craving Mexican food.

Trendy Tribeca Mexican

By kristenw1967 |

A bar/restaurant serving good Mexican food in Tribeca — what's not to love?! The ceviche was excellent and so were the tacos. A hip crowd — and a little on the noisy side, but I will go back. Service was excellent.

Great for a girls catch up

By dsbali |

A great place for drinks and bites with the girls. Buzzy atmosphere. Cool decor and vibe. It’s not the best food ever but pretty good.

Skip it

By Nicole |

I've heard of people having great experiences here but ours was the complete opposite. Waiter was impossible - not only was he VERY slow but he was also not engaged with us at all while serving our table.. it was like ordering with a brick wall. We ordered chips and all the salsas to try and got one half-filled plate of chips and never received more (so we had full salsas sitting on the table and no way to eat it). My food came out wrong, which would have been fine and I would have gotten over if the server didn't take a full 45 minutes to bring us our check and clear our plates when we were completely finished. It honestly became a joke as to how long we would wait with dirty, finished plates in front of us, no water, and still no replacement chips until 45 minutes passed (of us being completely finished and our waiter helping other tables) until my husband finally went to get help. Skip skip skip! (Also, out of their 4 salsas the only one worth it is the habenero crema however this is not spicy at all.. which you'd think it would be with habaneros in it..)

We returned twice during our trip!

By Nicole A |

We loved this restaurant. The best Mexican food I've had in NYC. They do a lunchtime menu which is slightly cheaper, although we only went here for dinner. The food is fresh and delicious. The ambience is great, a modern/exposed brick building with hints of Mexican Decor without being tacky/over the top. There is a bar downstairs which we didn't go to, as we had plans elsewhere. We loved the food so much we went back twice, and the service is great. I would certainly book for the evenings and it always seemed busy.

Just fabulous

By teamfordy |

Just visited this wonderful gem of a restaurant. In nyc to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday and she has been well and truly spoiled here tonight. Can’t thank jack enough for being a splendid welcoming host. Vibrant ambience, Fabulous food, and such a socialable way to eat -sharing plates. Great cocktails too, I especially enjoyed my Mendoza. Don’t hesitate to visit, you will,be very well, looked after and have a very enjoyable evening 🥂🍹👏👏👏👏

Food & atmosphere

By monteyk |

Great place for food & mingling. The drinks are amazing & the staff is super friendly. The brunch specials are the best in the city. They make a mean mimosa. It's a must-try stop when you are in the Tribeca area especially if you like Mexican food.

Fantastic new Mexican in Tribeca

By halsherm3 |

the food here is amazing. perfect place for lunch. The pineapple guacamole is wonderful. They have an express lunch but often we are too enticed by the regular menu as well.

Upmarket Mexican

By Laney64 |

Went here on a Monday evening - it was busy; very popular. Seated at a high table the service was good and a small menu which for me means it's cooked to order. Food was delicious - portions are quite small but exquisitely prepared and cooked. Nice selection of cocktails available and extensive drinks and wine list. I'd go again.

Delicious Tacos/Nice Atmosphere

By Fettucine |

Dropped in for a drink on New Year's Eve since it was near our hotel, Roxy. Sat at the bar and had delicious palomitas and decided to have a snack to prepare our stomachs for the long night ahead. Chose short rib tacos. Unbelievable. Fantastic. Flavor brought back memories of the best tacos I ever had in my life from a street vendor in Nuevo Laredo...but in decidedly fancier surrounding. Excellent choice for a drink and snack.

Dinner

By Jonas O |

Nice atmosphere. Had ceviche, tostadas and tacos. The highpoint were the tostadas. Highly recommended!

Great Atmosphere, Great Food

By KWLUV |

We stopped in for an early dinner after a show. Great Atmosphere, although a bit loud on a Saturday Afternoon. The food was really good! The portions are very small on happy hour menu, so consider ordering 2 of everything for a few couples.

Brunch for men as well as women....

By David H |

Walked along Church Street in TriBeCa and cam upon Anejo. Seemed lively and found a table for four. The place was loud, partly because of the acoustics and the music. After ordering (including bottomless Bloody Marias) and excellent Morning Tacos, Huevos Rancheros, Eggs Benedict etc, decided this was a good brunch stop. Slowly realization dawned that there were only 4 men in the place (6 if staff were included). Could be because of the bottomless Mimosas..... Obviously this place appeals to the fairer sex but I would happily go back for the food and the drinks choices. Probably would have given 5 blobs, rather than 4, if it were not quite so noisy. Staff were excellent - both efficient and friendly.

Service needs improvement

By Heyprettygirl |

I've been here a couple of times and each time I wish they would get rid of the surly bartender. The margaritas are excellent, but the place could use more variety in happy hour drinks. Although the food is delicious, portions are too small.

Not really Mexican food

By eugeni0gp |

I visited Añejo with my co-workers. The food is tasty and there is good service. Their Tequila/Mezcal collection is quite good (they even have Sotol). As far as authenticity, not there. The ingredients aren't great.

Great experience in Anejo tribeca

By Khaoula B |

I recently dined in Anejo Tribeca restaurant in manhattan and it was a good experience. The standout dishes were definitely the lamp tacos and the pineapple guacamole. The service was top-notch , Alian the server deserved a 10/10 rating . The restaurant’ decor is authentically Mexican and beautiful, and here’s an important detail the restroom was clean and smelled good which’s always a good sign of overall cleanliness and attention to details 👌

The Best Margaritas!

By bikingmom |

We stopped by here twice during our long weekend in NYC. The bartenders were so nice and very knowledgable about the Tequila they sold. We were so impressed that we even went on line and bought a bottle of the tequila our bartender had us try. We never had food, but the place was always busy. Next time we will have a meal with our drinks!

Tribeca Mexican Food To Die For

By Damian C |

Ivan, the general manager, provided an amazing experience. I can't tell you enough what a great person he is. After traveling all day from California, we arrived late on a Friday night. At 11:07 pm, I called the restaurant to find out what time the kitchen closed. Ivan said it closed 7 minutes ago at 11:00. But he said that if I got there in 10 minutes, he could ask the guys in the kitchen if they can accommodate us. I told him that we were staying at the M Social Hotel and that I had to get an Uber and didn’t know if I could get there that fast. He invited me to come anyways and to ask for him. The kitchen was closed for 20 minutes when we arrived at nearly 11:30 pm. When we arrived, Ivan welcomed us like we were his family. We were offered the full menu and were not rushed to order. They made us feel like they were not closing. It was as if they were just opening and they were very nice. The server asked me if I was interested in an alcoholic drink, but for health reasons I told him I could not drink. The next thing you know, Ivan shows up with a shot in his hands. He overheard that I don’t drink, so he came over with a specially imported tequila. It has no alcohol. It's exclusive to the restaurant and you can't get it anywhere else law in the City. Ivan went out of his way to get me a special drink when I was content with just water. After I tasted the tequila, he made me a margarita with that tequila. This place is very high end and classy. It gets an A for ambiance. And the food is absolutely delicious. I swear, the chicken tacos may have been the best tacos I’ve ever had. And that’s saying something since I’m from Los Angeles. When I first heard the kitchen closed 7 minutes ago, I thought I was going to starve or have to go to some late night dive. But I ended up having an extraordinary night. And it's all because of Ivan's hospitality and generosity. Thank you Ivan for the warm welcome on our first night in NYC. You made an ordinary night an extraordinary night. I will never forget it or your thoughtfulness.

Nice choice in NYC

By Juanita |

This place has a nice atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the menu had te a few options. They had a few gluten free options for me which was great and a different cocktail menu. The food was nice, decent servings and came out quick enough. it's not the cheapest NYC but I would go back.

Beware the Bottomless Brunch

By Lindsay A |

Attention lightweights: beware the bottomless brunch! The alcohol can sneak up on you! Anejo has a bottomless brunch with unlimited food and drinks for 90 minutes. The food was delicious and the server just kept coming around with a carafe refilling my margarita. It was all delicious and definitely worth the $47 pp in my opinion.

Tasty, Trendy, Noisy

By Max S |

The strong point of the restaurant is food. It is based on very good Mexican/Latin American traditions revisited with good taste and creativity. All the dishes we tried were excellent, with a special mention for Shishito peppers, Ahi Tuna Ceviche and lamb. Even desserts were very good. The drinks menu I would consider “good enough”. Cocktails were OK, but the bar for mixology in NYC is very high. It would have been good to have a choice of craft beers which would have married perfectly with the tasty and elaborated food, instead of the usual tasteless and boring Mexican beers. The location in Tribeca is cool and the interior is also very nice. The only real problem with the restaurant is noise. Even if we had a corner table, it was very difficult and painful to have a decent conversation among the 4 of us; I think something should be done with the acoustics. 4 stars for now, can go up to 5 if they boost the drinks menu and work on the noise.

Cool Vibe

By Crimzilla |

I stumbled upon this place while I was looking for the World Trade Center and was pleasantly surprised. Great service, great drinks and an amazing atmosphere.

I love Anejo - the Guac!

By frequent_fam_travel |

I am craving the guacamole and chips at Anejo just writing this review. And the corn, I mean insane and out of this world. So so good. Not huge portions so don't expect that. Really great food though (and tequilla), so I will be back!

Loved the margaritas and everything else

By Bethany H |

Was staying in TriBeCa and walked by Anejo and liked the ambiance and menu so decided to give it a try. So glad we did. The margaritas were perfect as was the food. We tried the ceviche, chicken samosas, fish tacos and salsa verde. All were very fresh and delicious.

Everything is good

By Udi L |

Came in on Saturday night, placed was full but we managed to have a table. Service was good, polite and friendly. Dishes came quick and tasty. Highly recommended.

Upscale Mexican

By lolanola |

We went during an off-peak time which was nice. Food was really outstanding, get the guacamole sampler. Warm and inviting atmosphere.

New Favourite Place in NY!

By Danielle M |

We stopped in for Saturday breakfast and I loved the vibe. Had breakfast tacos (with pork) which were amazing and the perfect portion. Great service, we sat at the bar. Would definitely come here again and again if I lived in the city!!!

Very nice

By Cdrider1 |

Nice restaurant. Service is good, food is very nice and filling. The card machine was out when we visited but the staff handled it very well with a warning on arrival. Try the churros.

Good service, kid friendly!

By claudine88 |

Was not sure whether i should take my two grandsons there ( age 6 and 2 1/2) after reading some reviews, but decided to try it: we had great service, had a few request/modification to the dishes to be sure our grandsons would eat the food: no problem, everything was served the way they liked it! Meanwhile we enjoyed some good mezcal margaritas and small plates. some reviews complained about the noise level, with 2 little ones, we did not mind this either! A bit pricey but a good option in Tribeca!

Great food, great vibe

By Tom O |

Really enjoyed this place, stumbled across it from a nearby hotel.. Really good vibe and excellent food. Staff were attentive.

Nice

By Maurizio S |

Nice restaurant in a live area. We have been for lunch. Atmosphere is very nice. Selection of food not too wide. Quality is good.

Ok lunch

By Mona E |

Was looking for a good Mexican restaurant next to the court area. Restaurant decor is nice. Food was average at best. Tacos tortillas wasn’t the most fresh. Guacamole was good. Hostess wasn’t the most hospitable. Waiters very nice.

Great atmosphere and margaritas.

By Tordobes |

The retaurant was crowded and a bit noisy, but not disturbing conversation. Food was really good, and the margaritas excellent. Would definitely recommend it.

Sunday Brunch is a deal

By Bisa Myles |

I was staying at the Sheraton Tribeca and walked past the restaurant and suggested it to my friends. The restaurant atmosphere is really relaxed and cute. We opted for the Sunday brunch with unlimited selected drinks and chips and guacamole. I would recommend. The staff was friendly but a little slow. Not sure if they were just short staffed. There was a party going on in the basement. We had to call our waitress a couple of times to take our order and for refills. Overall I would recommend to anyone in the area.

Check this place out! Yummy!

By WandaL5 |

Great fun, awesome margaritas and the bar servers are top notch! They take Mexican food a step up!

The flavors of Mexico with Upscale Presentation

By TravelingChefNewYork |

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to outside of Mexico. The food was delicious, authentic and beautifully presented. We were touring New York City and needed a place to have lunch on a Sunday. We stumbled upon this restaurant in the Tribeca district of Manhattan and were not disappointed. They had a Sunday brunch special running but we opted to order off of the menu. We started with an appetizer of pork belly tostada. There is only 1 way to make pork belly and that is with "love". When ever I see it on the menu, I order it and this dish did not disappoint. Think of a tostada as a crispy open-faced taco. it starts with a small fried tortilla dressed with creamy guacamole and topped with small squares of rich braised pork belly. The dish was garnished with Mexican crema and cilantro micro-greens. It was an absolutely beautiful dish. We also ordered 2 types of taco, pulled pork and shredded brisket. The corn tortillas were reminiscent of what I have had in Mexico and had the authentic masa flavor. I could eat tacos like this any time. We also ordered a side dish of "Mexican" corn. I've never seen this dish made quite this way in Mexico so we had to order it. Tender corn kernels were stewed in a milky coriander sauce topped with chipotle Mexican Crema and garnished with more cilantro micro-greens and crumbly cheese similar to queso fresco. It was delicious and a nice twist on an everyday side dish. The service at this restaurant was excellent and our waiter was very responsive. The food was delicious and nicely presented. The beverages were refreshing on a warm summer day. We also enjoyed the outdoor seating during our visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys the authentic flavor of Mexican food.

Very Disappointing - Would Not Advise

By Expatwife16 |

Just ate here. Not only did they get the order wrong - forgot to bring the starter but they served a seafood main dish, which was meant to be HOT, COLD. When we advised staff, they took it away and returned seafood dish REHEATED. We declined to have it and asked for bill. They itemised it on bill as 'did not like it', not true. Who in their right mind would eat reheated seafood??!! General reaction on part of management was total disinterest. We paid bill and left. After several days in New York cannot and would not recommend Anejo to anyone.

A big Anej-NO

By FrankFromNYC |

Excellent mescal and tequila options (and terrific table-side education from one of the bartenders), really good food, worst service in Tribeca. Even on Sunday nights when you are likely to be one of three guests, or the only guest, the service is shockingly slow and borderline absent. But it's 10 times worse on busy nights. My wife and I were there last night (Saturday). We should have known we were in for trouble when the couple next to us got up and left because they weren't being served. My wife and I ordered two anejo flights. As I said, the mezcal is amazing, but the flights are not cheap and need to be savored. The server rushed the food out and placed it on the now-empty table next to us. At that point frankly, we weren't even sure that was our food. The waitress had never returned to the table since our order was placed. The tables at Anejo are "NYC small" and the flights had taken up just about all of our table. The assistant manager soon came over and actually tried to squeeze the food from the adjacent table (which we we then realized was our food) onto our table. I informed him that would not be happening and that it actually would have been wiser to schedule the delivery of the food to match the schedule of the mezcal flights, and not to try to rush guests through the flight experience (FYI, on Sunday nights when you get the additional table-side instruction from bartender, the process actually takes 3-times longer, so we were in no way taking too much time to finish our flights). We finished our flights, realized the food was cold and called it a night at that point. It would be a shame to never return because the mezcal and tequila at Anejo are that good. So maybe my wife and I will see you at the bar on Sunday nights, which is the only time and part of Anejo worth patronizing.

Great Small Plates

By MAMP |

My husband and I went and it was very cool inside. We got their margarita and salsa verde to start. Margarita was good (I love when you can actually taste the tequila) and warm chips with the salsa! We went with 3 small plates. And each was better then the next. The tlayuda, new to me, and it was like a tuna sushi pizza- very good! The pork belly tostado....very unique presentation. The pork belly just melted in your mouth. Sopes de carne asada was a big portion with the best black bean purée. Our server was so nice and super helpful (I have food allergies). We had reservations but as it got later I would recommend having one. It got busy fast. Enjoy!!

Handy to the Roxy

By sheeshman_13 |

While awaiting our take out, the bar tender conjured up some magic! Many thanks. The meal may have suffered a bit during the walk back to the hotel (ahi tuna ceviche, tuna tayuda, short rib taco) - middling.

Great place to meet with friends after work

By Kimberlie L S |

I came here for an event with a company that hosted a number of us. We were in the private room downstairs and enjoyed a number of mescal and tequila beverages as well as an assortment of tacos, guacamole and chips. There was plenty of room by the bar as well as the seating which was great for our group as it was a bit of a mixer to get to know one another. I highly suggest their cocktails as there are a number of great ingredients and twists that make your classic favorites taste even better when having them here. It's also near other restaurants or bars if you're doing a longer night out.

Over priced mexican food

By Love4Travel616 |

I LOVE Mexican, and found this place to be very overpriced for the food and quality. We ordered guacamole and I found it to lack flavor-- I would have preferred to make it myself and the portion was SOOOO small. They sat us downstairs and it was extremely loud and not conducive for a night out with friends, we could barely each other. Perhaps just going for drinks would have been a better option

A Great Lunch!

By Charlene M |

We decided to go to this place on our last day. What a treat! The restaurant is lovely. What a beautiful building. Huge windows that looked out at the street. Beautiful bar, lots of different tequilas and great foods. They have an express lunch that includes chips & Salsa, your torta or tacos, salad and a drink. The only problem was that they were out of a lot of things. I don't know if they didn't get their delivery that morning or what. We went on a Monday so they might have sold out of everything over the weekend. That was disappointing. The green salsa was excellent, the red was hot and spicier. The chips were tortillas that they had cut in half and fried. They were really good. The tortas were good. Wonderful little sandwiches that were on the soft, Mexican bun and the salad was dressed just right. Not your typical, tacos and enchiladas from what I could see. We didn't have a drink but they looked delicious. It was a wonderful treat that I enjoyed so much.

Great food and great cocktails

Anejo is a restaurant that serves delicious Mexican food. We were part of large group of 20+ people, the food came out regularly and the staff were attentive. There was a real variety of meat, fish and vegetable options. The cocktails were also really good. A very good restaurant with great food and drink, what more could you ask!

Do yourself a favor and sit at the bar.

By Holly N |

Santiago was a delight at the bar! What attentive service and a great educator of Mexican spirits. The guacamole and chips were fantastic and a great start. Our meals were tasty, but truly, the bartender made our visit something special. He shared so much information about mezcal and tequila and the difference. The staff worked well together to keep drinks filled and guests satisfied. Hospitality was top notch.

We now know what real Mexican food is!

By Sylvain C |

Upon walking in the area we had notice the nice looking restaurant, but did not want what looked like an upscale place. The limited number of reviews scared us a little as well but since we noticed the restaurant we had chosen was almost empty, we chose plan B. Boy, if all B plans could be this good no one would want A plans! We introduced ourselves as Mexican food newbies and where welcomed with a smile and the hostess's favorite spot by the window. Our very friendly but discreet server took time to listen to what we like and dislike and guided us through the intimidating menu. We loved every dish, every texture, every new taste. Spiciness was well controlled (thanks again Sara) and we did not leave anything on our plate! We will make it a point to go back on our next trip. Ambiance was great, service from every single person we dealt with was excellent and the bar was well stocked for Tequila enthusiasts.

Bad service, poor food

By silverborg |

Our visit started well with nice guacamole and chips, but then things went downhill fast. The waiter hassled us for the main order twice, then sent his colleague over to ask if he could expedite the order - all this within 5 mins. We felt very pressured to order. So we took a range of samples from the menu, thinking we could order more later ... it came fast but the food was so bland we did not want more, especially as it's not exactly cheap. We left after that. I suggest you avoid.

Great Tacos

By Petra_800125 |

Beatiful place woth cool bar. Small menu but food is great, especially the tacos. A bit pricy though.

Pricey

By Edelfelt |

Nice atmosphere but pricey. Portions are small and nothing special. On the other hand this is New York.

great cocktail

By stephan j |

feeling a bit tired from all the walking we stopped at the Anejo for a cosmopolitan and guacamole. Both were truly excellent.

Great mexican

By Lauren I |

My friends and I tried Anejo in TriBeCa last night and loved it. I need to be gluten free and there were plenty of options. The waiter was great suggesting things for us. I will definitely go back.

Vibes and guacamole for days

By Camilla C |

After a false start for Sunday brunch at an overly hyped up institution elsewhere in Manhattan, we stumbled upon Anejo Tribeca only a few blocks from our hotel and we couldn’t have been more satisfied! The staff were friendly and welcoming, service was prompt and some of the best in Manhattan so far, brunch menu including 4 different bottomless drinks was spot on and the vibe was fun and exactly what you expect from a bottomless Sunday brunch. These guys may not have a glitzy, hyped up insta with thousands of followers but they would have if people knew how great they are! A true hidden gem in Tribeca and absolutely worth your time, especially if you’re a mexican lover and would get out of bed for bottomless guacamole!

Try some tapas!

By billhollowsky |

Needing my tapas fix, this was the perfect place as we were wondering around looking for a place to eat. Service was friendly. When we stopped in, it was about 20 minute wait for a table so we sat at the bar. The bar tender was knowledgeable and friendly,. We sampled the Blanco Margarita, El Pardino and White Sangria. The pork belly tostada was a good starter. We had the lamp barbacoa, duck salad and cheeseburger fundido. I will definitely come back when I'm in town.

Great Mexican option in TriBeCa

By Sogreche |

Great and tasty food, good portions and nice vibe. The restaurant can be a little noisy but in a good way. Staff are efficient if perhaps not overly attentive.

Good food but lousy service

By Chandrashekar |

We visited the restaurant during office hours. After placing orders for basic tacos burritos and quesadillas we had to wait for almost an hour. My daughter had meeting and had to leave at a specified time. When we questioned the staff they blamed us for not telling them about the time limitation. One doesn’t think it would take an hour to deliver basic products. The attitude and arrogance was not justified even if the food was good.

Great lunch stop

By Simon T |

We were looking for a nice and warm place for a quick lunch after a walk around town. We went for the lunch special, served late, nice atmosphere and music, excellent guacamole and sandwiches, great service. A bit salty yet nicely seasoned overall.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!

By Matt K |

We made a 6:30 p.m. or 7pm reservation for 4 people. We arrived 45 minutes early and the restaurant was EMPTY. Literally NO other diners in the place. The hostess told us the ONLY table was the wobbly high top right behind the hostess stand. We had a 10 year old with us and asked if we could have any of the other 20 or so EMPTY tables in the restaurant. NO we were told, those were reserved. We had dinner, which was fine. The salsas have NO flavor, the guac is nothing great, the chips were good. I had a chicken dish that was good. When we left the restaurant 75 minutes later, there were THREE taken tables. All the rest were completely empty. The restaurant is really NOTHING special. Much better places out there that will treat customers with young children better, especially when they know we aren't going to be there all night and especially in Tribeca.

Great food and great deals!

By Tiago P |

Food was great. 29usd for an entrée and all-you-can-drink of Mimosas and Bloody Marys... Well... Can't beat that. ;-)

Good Food

By Anal37 |

Normally I dont go for Mexican food but this one is a Mexican Fusion Restaurant. Food is good not your typical menu, staff very attentive and the ambience is fantastic. Price is just right and would go back and suggest to friends and relatives.

Authentic and excellent

By tim m |

Had to start with the Mexican firing Squad...or two. Went with crispy fish tacos, which were very flavor full lite and spicy. Ate at bar'cause I was flying solo. This was on a Friday night and the barkeep still took great care of me.

Happy hour until 7

By Melanie T |

Stopped in one Wednesday evening for some happy hour apps. I believe they range from $6-$8 dollars and the specials end at 7 pm. We had the guacamole, chicken empanadas, beef empanadas, nachos, and wings. The guacamole and nachos were pretty basic, but I liked the empanadas and wings. The empanadas came with this green sauce that I really liked. The wings were a little too spicy for me but they came with a mango salsa, which helped put out the fire a bit. I probably won't be back since it was just okay overall, but if you are in the area and need a quick happy hour bite, Anejo wouldn't be the worst option.

Salt bomb!

By SAYHEYKID |

Bad experience! Food was salted beyond belief! Chips were so salty they were inedible! Expensive, and even salsa, rice, beans and everything else was al a carte. The only thing gratis was heartburn! Drinks were OK, but short on the booze. Staff was professional, and tried to be accommodating, but even they couldn't stop the chef's heavy hand with the salt! Let the Tribeca trust funders and yuppies patronize this joint! I'll never be back...

Incredible Food and Service

By Cocochanel1982 |

We ate here twice during our one week stay in NYC. We had the same server each time (Marta) and she was wonderful as was the Hostess. The food was traditional Mexican fare and so delicious. We would definitely return!

Fun place for food and drinks

By Timothy M |

We enjoyed the eclectic decor and good service of this restaurant. The Anejo margarita was pleasing as I've become a fan of margaritas. The guacamole was good and was accompanied by some very tasty tortilla chips. The chicken tacos were a nice variation. The rice and beans side were surprisingly good. In all we had a very nice meal and experience at Anejo.

Happy discovery

By TravelT |

The music is a bit too loud and does not really go with the atmosphere of the place, but do not let that put you off! The food is absolutely amazing! The porkbelly and brussel sprouts were standouts. The service can be a bit off, so make sure you ask for everything you want in one go and stay on top of things.

Fine Mexican food

By MSW625 |

Loved the offerings which was served to our group family style. Scrumptious from start to finish!!! Very relaxed and non rushed-what I want after a long day! Will be back!!!

So close, we had to go!!!

By Giveahoot |

Heard so much about this place that when I realized how close our hotel was, we had to go. We were not disappointed by the food, atmosphere or service. Can't wait to go back!

Great margarita

By carlo1924 |

This is a cozy little mexican place at Church and Walker in Tribeca. The margaritas were good and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. My wife and I had drinks and some nachos here before heading elsewhere. I can't wait to come back.

Dont go if you are vegetarian.

By Selma1212 |

I told the waitress I was vegetarian, she then brought me a dish that had meat in it after I asked her 3 times. She apologized and felt bad, but any place that doesn't train their staff on what's in their food, Im not interested. It will probably be closed by the time you read this. No one is ever there.

Wait staff nice, bartender NOT!!

By MRivera-Boozer |

Bartender was very rude. I suggested a drink for my relative and she said she had no idea what I was talking about. Instead of just leaving it at that she felt the need to state unnecessary comments such as 'that's a party club bar drink' I stated 'no I have had it at other restaurant bars but I'm in Jersey so maybe it's a jersey thing (trying to be polite). She proceeds to say 'Well not here or Miami'. Her mannerisms and facial expressions made me want to leave. My family wanted to eat here so I ordered a sangria and refused to eat here. Complete turn off!

An amazing chance-happening for my pallette!

By Peggy H |

Walking tours in NYC can quickly get grueling if you can't find those little oases of refreshment, but when appetite overcomes wanderlust and you find yourself in front of Anejo--well, let's just say I should've bought a lottery ticket that day. Nestled in a neighborhood with high-end fashion shops, it is an oasis! We were a party of 6, immediately seated at ~3pm. Decor - warm but with clean-lines--chandeliers, brick and wood. Prompt and courteous service: menus and orders taken within 10 minutes. (We required all 10 minutes to decide between drinks and the menu selection.) Best thing I ate? The sample of 3 guacamoles and the sample of 4 salsas. **My favorite was the verde guacamole with pumpkin seeds and pomegranite seeds.** Shrimp taco entree was great too--the portion was perfect after the large appetizer. Bigger appetites may want to order more. My fellow diners said the margaritas and sipping-type tequila were great. I highly highly recommend this place!

Fabulous!!

By Susan J |

I hosted a party for 25 in the private room downstairs. It was perfection from the start - from my initial discussions with the events manager, to the day of set up, to the actual event. The food was plentiful and fabulous. The wait staff, led by Adam, was engaging and professional. It was a memorable evening. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Interesting Mexican

By fairlady07 |

Smaller plates to share, great guac. Margarita and cocktails excellent, friendly staff, choice of table although busy

Cccc

By Enzop7@aol.com |

Not good, I ask for chips before my meal and they said we don't serve that ! And with my meal chips and salsa verde came I did't order but they charge me $3 dollars for salsa verde

Regardless how much you like or dislike Mexican cuisine, you have to try the Agave flight.

By HenryNYC |

The buzzing scene jumps through the corner window of this restaurant drew our attention. The high quality sidewalk seating gave us some curiosity for the inside. The place has a old pub feeling, everything is in one big room, vibrant, but not noisy. The brunch menu has sufficient interesting choices. Appetizers is of reasonable size if you are not very hungry. The drink menu was quite nice. We tried the Agave flight and we really liked it. What a pleasant place to be but also with twists if you want it. Not being an expert of Mexican cuisine, the menu and the wait staff were very helpful. It is fun. Forget about subtlety.

Good Food, but LOUD

By Anthony |

We came here for a large group dinner and were seated in adjacent tables. Our food was very good and the drinks were fantastic (I had the Blanco Margarita which tasted good, though a bit on the strong side). Only drawback was the loud music which made it difficult to chat. Otherwise, had a nice experience here.

Quick stop after USWNT ticker tape parade

By Ash S |

After two and one half hours of standing, cheering, and clapping, this place was on our walk back to midtown. Great staff, very friendly. Stopped for a refreshing chelada and some house chips and salsa. Stayed much longer than we planned. Beautifully decorated, and the restroom was immaculate. Highly recommend for a quick drink, and more.

Small pricey menu but lovely place...

By Peter M |

Visited on a Tuesday evening and surprised the happy hour was only applicable if you sat at the bar. As the prices were only very marginally different to the tables, we stayed where we were. Very nice casual but efficient service and the 3 tapas style dishes were excellent as was the one bottle of wine. For $99 for two it was a bit pricey for what we had but a lovely interior and nice service were well received....

A Mexican Spot!

By RayCharles201 |

Restaurant was a short distance from we were staying. Good location. It’s a busy place so our reservation was for outside patio, that is was good. Salmon our server was very good and attentive. Drinks were red sangria, blanco margarita, tuna ceviche was delicious but small portion. Beef birria tacos, well seasoned shredded short rib with tasty consomme for dipping. Seafood enchiladas excellent with the mole amarillo. A very nice restaurant in Tribeca.

Perfect for getting "Out of the Zone"

By KaiserBrit |

Great option for visitors from out of town. Solid fare, great ambience and very attentive staff. However ..... they really should staff the bar w enough bartenders. Only one on-deck the night we were there. He quickly became overwhelmed and unpleasant; lost quite a bit of cash tips which were readily available. Our dinner in the downstairs private room was super - and the bartender downstairs was incredibly pleasant and able to handle us w a big smile. He also bused the tables and replenished drinks and wine - Smart Man; move him upstairs. Great food, good fun, buzzy local crew.

Fun visit

By sarahwarah74 |

We had an early dinner here one evening as we were staying in the area. We enjoyed the margaritas and shared several small plates and tacos. We both agreed the food was tasty and fun. The waitresses were efficient and friendly. I would go back if we were in the area again.

Fresh innovative Mexican Cuisine

By IRWilmDe |

Highly recommended to us by a family member whose culinary tastes and demands we admire. We were prepared for the very loud music which we could no longer hear when a large party sat behind us. Despite the noisy ambience, at times chaotic service, weak Margaritas (to our taste), very small table for two adults and no Cabo Wabo tequila of any sort in their offerings, we still highly recommend the food - fresh, innovative, beautifully presented and the right portions for what we ordered. We started with 3 appetizers - wild mushroom, octopus, tuna carpaccio, all perfectly deliciously delightful. See photo of octopus appetizer - 5 bite sized morsels. We then ordered the guacamole with chips and veggies - a bit expensive but the guacamole was great with chips and a few pieces of daikon radish (very mild), cucumbers and celery. We each had their garden salad as a main entree which had pepitas, red radishes, pomegranate seeds, arugula and mesclun lettuce - the portions were generous and we had no room for dessert. Pricey - yes - but worth the top quality of food.

Not Very Kid Friendly and Expensive

By EugeneGary |

We were a party of 6 including our 5 year old and 2 year old. Service was spotty at best with one of our entrees overlooked on first try. Two of us ordered a second margarita, which took so long to arrive everyone was finished eating by the time they came. We ordered plain chicken tacos for the 5 year old and although they were good I really expected some sort of kid's meal price, but no. Nothing comped for the overlooked entree arriving late either. Given the $8 price, we expected one order of rice and beans to round out the meals for both the 5 year old and 2 year old but servings are quite small across to board. Suggest you check out pics on Yelp or some such to manage your expectations - advice I should have followed. Note I rate the flavors a solid 5 of 5... the food and drinks were all delicious. But the portions are small, the prices are high, and, at least for us on a Sunday late afternoon, the service did not meet expectations. We live nearby and given the myriad other options in the neighborhood I do not expect to return to Anejo.

Cool and tasty but.......

By Mike K |

So went here for lunch with my wife and had an enjoyable experience. Place is very cool decor and relaxing. We started with chips and salsa, burnt cilantro crema, which we was very clean and smooth. Both us felt like it needed a diced tomato or something. My wife's salad was good and refreshing. My short rib taco was good felt like something was missing from it that would have made the tacos amazing. To me it need more of a savory or spicy kick. All in all it was a nice lunch.

Yum

By Alexandra H |

Really liked this place. All the staff were very friendly and the food was so good! The habanero salsa was awesome, as was the mushroom queso fundidos. The chips were so good on their own! We also had the short rib tacos. They which were very good, but too salty for my taste. My husband had pork belly tostadas and they were absolutely amazing! My husband did a flight of 3 different spirits and the bartender came over to meet him, introduce himself, and tell him all about the drinks, where they were made, different characteristics. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone staying in the area!

Excellent Food

By SemperEJ |

Give this place a try if you are in the Tribeca / SoHo area. The cocktails are delicious and clever. The food is fantastic. The portions are not overly huge, but they are sufficient and excellent crafted. The pork belly tostada appetizer was delicious. Ours was a tad salty, but you could tell what they were trying for. My bride and I had pork enchiladas and shrimp tacos. Both were excellent. I loved everything about the place....the food, the decor, the ambience, the service, and the cleanliness. We'll be back.

El Jimador margarita... 10/10 would drink again!

By deanslist |

My wife and I popped in for a quick drink recently and we loved it. The bartenders were friendly and very knowledgeable. I had a Partida reposado (didn't love it) and my wife had the El Jimador margarita. It wasn't overly sweet and the hint of orange was brilliant.

Delicious Surprise!

By Victoria B |

Stumbled across this walking one evening and what luck- delicious! Excellent fresh and authentic Mexican! Highly recommend the ceviche!

My first experience was mixed

By folkboy |

Had reservations with friends for a 1pm brunch. The main room was effortlessly gorgeous and flooded with natural light. I was excited. However, we were led downstairs to a dungeon-like room with a few tables and very strong/poor/odd/unpleasant lighting, and even worse service. The disconnect between the aesthetic in the street-level and the downstairs (basement/underground) dining areas is impossible to understate! We tried to move to the marvelous upstairs dining room, but no go, so we made the best of it. The service was very slow, even though the waitress only had three tables down in the dungeon area. We had to ask repeatedly for water, refills, the guacamole app we ordered, etc. One of our orders was wrong, but fairly quickly remedied. The food was modestly portioned for the $29 price (and tasty!), but with the bottomless beverage brunch, I felt it was a fair value. I would definitely eat here again, as long as we could confirm our reservation for upstairs and have a server who had waited tables before. To be fair, my friends had been there for brunch several times before and had no knowledge or experience with the dungeon-like basement dining room and had fine service, so perhaps this was an anomaly.

Amazing Cocktails

By ultrasnail |

We wandered into Anejo on the way back to our hotel, just looking for a couple of drinks before we retired for the night. We therefore took a seat at the bar. My partner ordered a cocktail, and I looked through the list for something I fancied, but couldn't see anything so asked the Bar tender (Luis) if he could make me a Long Island Ice Tea (My favourite cocktail). He very happily obliged. I've had a few Long Islands in my time, and the quality varies wildly from place to place. I could not fault the drink I was handed, certainly one of the best for a while. Enthused by this, we decided to ask Luis if he could rustle up 2 Expresso Martinis to finish off our night. Having had a few of these over time I was a little concerned when he started adding egg white to the mix. Not seen that before. And once poured a sprinkling of nutmeg was applied. Its a slight variant on the original, but wow what an excellent one. Quite possibly the best I have ever had. As this experience had been a positive one, we decided to try eating there a couple of nights later. And the food was excellent. The food is 'Mexican' in style, but with a slightly twist to the normal Mexican menu. The restaurant itself is somewhat quirky to say the least. Dark interior walls and large chandeliers doesn't scream Mexican at you from the roof tops. The music was also not what you would expect, being anything from modern pop to 80s classics. Overall, whilst I used the term 'quirky', it was definitely my kind of quirky. So overall the ambience for me was great. The staff however were on another level. The services was excellent and above and beyond. Despite one having been in once before and also sitting pretty much as far from the bar as was actually possible, Luis popped over to say hello. The other staff were equally friendly, and were very attentive without being in your face. I was also pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived. Way less than I was expecting to have paid. I could not recommend this place more, and if I lived less than 5000 miles away I would be in there far more often. I will be back however!

Not the best Mexican

By IamBigAl |

I love Mexican food and Tex Mex in particular so I was looking forward to eating at Anejo's. I was fairly disappointed, the food is tamed down Mexican, a bit dainty for me, probably aimed at the Tribeca Yuppies. Service was average, its fairly expensive for Mexican food. The menu sounds great but it promises a lot more than it delivers. Shame Tribeca needs a great Mexican I have tried several and none have lived up to expectations. I guess I am spoilt coming from Houston.

Nice neighborhood restaurant

By Cororegon |

While it is not flashy this place is relaxed, has great drinks and lovely, comforting food. It was walking distance from our place in Tribeca and we went in the last night we were in NYC. Very comfortable, nice folks and relatively affordable for the big city.

Mexican Fare with a Flair!

By JamesJasper |

I love Añejo NYC. Their restaurant on 10th Ave is superb as is their Tribeca location. We enjoyed another delicious and delightful meal on our recent trip to NYC for Easter Weekend 2018. The things I love about Añejo: (1) Their guacamole! (Yum, yum yum!!!) Made fresh (and for a person with night-shade allergies, being able to enjoy fresh guacamole without peppers and tomato in the mix is an unusual treat among Mexican restaurants). They also have luscious blends of other guac's like one with pineapple and others. (2) The margaritas! (Luscious!) My favorite is the Mezcal one. Smokey tequila, fresh lime juice, a titch of agave . . . perfect blend - tart and not too sweet. (3) Fresh tortilla chips, not overly salted, perfectly crisp and crunchy. (4) Their soft corn tortillas, which they'll bring as a nice alternative to chips to enjoy with their dips and guac and salsas. I also love to order a side of them with the Chicken Molé (next favorite), so that I can sop up all the yummy molé goodness. (5) Chicken Molé - mmm, delicious! Crispy skin outside, moist breast inside; and the sauce - good god, you'll want to swim in that nutty, tangy richness. I really like the ambiance of the Tribeca location. Their corner on Church Street affords nice NW views of the intersection, great evening light in the spring/summer, and the cool bar with the columns and chandaliers rounds out a really nice space to enjoy some tasty Mexican fare with a flair!

Did not enjoy this place

By norabb |

This restaurant was around the corner from our hotel. The exterior and interior looked like classic New York and the menu looked okay, so we went in at Sunday brunch time. There was obviously room but when we told the hostess we didn't have a reservation, she made a face, and never got any friendlier the whole time. We were seated quickly. Three of us got a variation on tacos, and they were mediocre at best - lame fillings, taco shells weren't very fresh and just didn't taste very good. The fourth order was from my daughter who ordered a large salad. The rest of us were served first, we waited awhile then started in on our meals, then finally asked about her order. The waiter told us that the item wasn't available after all but they hadn't said anything until then. Given how uninspiring the other meals were, she declined to get anything as a replacement. (I admit they did offer some tacos to make up for it but she didn't want them.) So in general: hostess was unpleasant, service was poor, food was mediocre. I see this place gets generally good reviews but I would never recommend it. (Have to say also that items served at neighboring tables didn't look any better than what we got.)

Great food, service and margaritas

By maryjan2015 |

We stopped in for a late lunch after arriving in NYC for the weekend. Raoul was behind the bar and took excellent care of us. His friendly personality and mixology skills, along with the tasty food made for a great experience. We stopped in late the next evening for a drink and were fortunate to meet up with Raoul and several of his colleagues who all impressed us with their warmth and friendliness. We will definitely revisit the next time we’re in New York.

Good “TexMex” with a vibe

By Patrik A |

Visited Anejo with the our family. Good vibe and a “cozy” place. Ordered tacos with fish, short ribs, shrimps and mushrooms which all tasted great. Had 3 pieces per person which was just enough. When we entered something had been mixed up with our reservation so we had to wait a bit before we got our table. Later that evening the manager came up and offered complimentary tequila for our party. Probably the best tequila I had and not because it was for free… All n all I would highly recommend this place if you like Mexican (TexMex) food, atmosphere with a vibe and good service.

Anejo on my mind…

By Giveahoot |

Second time just as good as the first!! I had to come back after a terrific first visit a few years ago. This time I brought the whole family…and no one was disappointed. Friendly service, awesome margaritas and authentic cuisine!

Not friendly staff, food average

By Ems |

The food was pretty good but the waiter that served us on Sept 12 was horrible. He brought all the food/wine at the same time and really wanted us out in 30 minutes. When we lingered for another hour to enjoy our meal, he never came back and we had to hunt our bill down.

Good service, nice atmosphere

By TK |

Delicious trio of guacamole, generous portions, and good atmosphere at Friday happy hour. Well priced for its location.

Flavorful food and best margaritas!

By redwinedarkchoc |

Anejo margaritas had the right balance of orange sweetness and tequila. Chips and guacamole were so good we ordered a second. After that we could only eat two tacos each. My shrimp tacos had perfected crispy shrimp with guacamole and slaw. Excellent!!!!

Not worth the 60 dollars we paid a person

By 787sallyb |

We were here for a private party of a bunch of academic nerds. Before hand we had signed up for the "dinner banquet" at 60 dollars a person so when we arrived at the incredibly crowded eatery with very few places to sit, and fairly ordinary Mexican food we were all the bit disappointed.

Never had Mexican Food before

By PJW01 |

Tried this restaurant as it is close to the Roxy. I had never had Mexican food before but I had recently found that I should trust my daughter's recommendations when it comes to new food experiences! She again did not let me down and I very much regret not having tried this before. Food was lovely and very filling. I had thought that all the meals would be very hot / burning but that was very much not the case. Very spicy (as opposed to burning hot) tasty and delicious. Will not be the last time I have this. The restaurant itself was comfortable. Service fast efficient and friendly. Meal price was very reasonable even by New York standards. Will go again next time in New York.

Great margaritas, ok-good food

By Sam O |

Dropped in on our way from the 9/11 memorial up to SoHo. Cool little restaurant with a good value lunch menu. The margaritas were great! Well worth dropping in for lunch

Delicious tacos

By Florida |

Very delicious food and drinks. Manager was very sweet and moved us to an inside table because we were too cold outside. Only complaint was the waitress could have been friendlier. But overall great place to come with a group of friends for high quality food and drinks! Fun atmosphere inside.

Rude service, small portions

By Kaarina2011 |

We had booked a table beforehand - when we arrived we were told that we have 1,5 hours to dine as there is another booking later. That turned out not to be a problem as the service was faster than in fast food restaurant. They served the food simultaneously with the apertive drinks. Extremely small portions. The waitress was really rude, seems that she did not like her job- no smile. We felt that we were not welcome and they wanted us out as soon as possible. Will never go again.

What actually went right at this visit?...

By Conor M |

I️ recently had brunch here with my wife and our friend. The atmosphere was lively and the place was packed! That is where the positives end... I️ have never seen such a poorly executed brunch. I️ waited about 35 minutes for my margarita and at least an hour for our food. We ordered unlimited guacamole ($18 for the table). They served it with horribly thick fried tortillas and we never received more guacamole despite asking several times for it. My wife’s and friend’s food showed up about 10 minutes before mine but no service staff seemed to care. Our mains were very mediocre. We also did not receive three items that we ordered and when we mentioned this (and the missing guac) to our server, she said it must be on its ways but never followed up. In fact, she never followed up with us on anything. Granted, she did tell us that it was her first day, but it wasn’t just our server who provided poor service... it was the whole place. Other tables around us were also sitting with no food and empty glasses for long periods of time. When we finally got our bill, the items that never showed up were of course on there. It took another 15 minutes to get that addressed and to pay our bill. Bottom line: Go elsewhere for brunch!

Lovely Anniversary Meal - really accommodating of 'Special Requests'

By Keira E |

We went to Añejo Tribeca for a celebration of my parents Ruby Wedding Anniversary - the staff were really lovely & accommodating and were happy to help me with my requests via email before the meal, which was great. On request they delivered a bottle of bubbly to the table without me needing to ask on the night, and remembered to put a candle in their desserts at the end - a lovely touch! Food was super tasty and really reasonably priced for Manhattan - would thoroughly recommend! Thanks again Añejo Tribeca!
