Nice lunch

By Paul B |

Mediterranean influence. Very busy on a Saturday afternoon. Was able to get 2 seats at the bar. Live jazz on the piano. Looked like many locals were frequenting this neighbourhood restaurant. Great atmosphere. Menu interesting with Turkish or Greek influence. I had a Peroni beer ($8) and my wife a Pinot Grigio ($14) which was nice but a bit overpriced. She had the Halloumi salad ($18) and was very happy. I had the Calamari ($18) and it was delicious. More than enough for our somewhat small appetites. Service was courteous, prompt and the staff were helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

Weird interesting decor with live music

By REMReviews |

For our 630pm reservation, we were one of only two tables with people. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it felt a little odd, like maybe the place had just opened for the night and the kitchen had yet to hit its stride. But the front of house folks were friendly and accommodating to our request to be seated away from service stations, doors, and entrances and exits, i.e., a relatively placid table. The waitstaff was reasonably attentive and personable. Unfortunately, when the live music -- a piano playing vocalist and a bass player -- started at 7pm, the sound was loud and pervasive notwithstanding the relatively modest number of patrons and the quietude that preceded the music, and interfered with table conversation. FWIW, the music was good -- mostly ballads in a Sinatra and Ellington vein -- but it wouldve been better if it had been say 20db less loud. The food was just a tick above ok -- not bad but not notable either. If you're in the mood to sit at a bar and listen to soft jazz, rather than to have dinner with people you want to talk with, this might be a good choice.

Great Service

Great food, great service and live music to boot. Highly recommend. Ambiance and decor was only outmatched by the amazing food and drink. Nice job.

Good food but can do better

By CY |

This place is good at grilled sea bass. The fish was very fresh and seasoned properly with sea salt. The freshness can be told by the fish eyes. I do recommend getting whole fish rather than fillet if one can handle it. It came with grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes (I believe). Taste very good. Vegetable pizza was okay. They can do a better job by seasoning the vegetables properly. Service was good. This place also offers romantic environment.

Turkish Delight .....on the menu AND on the agenda

By tlagyn |

This was a fabulous dining experience. I do not think I have ever used that pretentious sounding term in a review, but it fits here. I made our reservation for 5 online (which I appreciate in a restaurant) on a Saturday evening . I do not think we have ever been greeted so genuinely and felt so welcomed upon arrival at a restaurant. Two of the party arrived a bit early. Table was ready and they were seated to enjoy a beverage in comfort instead of the frequent "wait at the bar until your entire party arrives."Specialty cocktails were imaginative and tasty. Appetizers were prepared and presented well. The decor was eclectic if not quirky (but fun) and consistent with a place called "Antique Garage." Everyone found something to enjoy on the menu and not a single disappointment (especially if you like lamb, which can be tricky to prepare well......and it was). The waitstaff was attentive but not intrusive and we never felt rushed, even as the restaurant filled. There was live jazz music playing at just the right volume at the front of the restaurant .....enjoyable but not overpowering (which we appreciated, being from Nashville, where that is a very frequent occurrence). As we left, we were individually personally thanked by the host and made to feel our patronage was truly appreciated. Now was this a transcendent culinary meal? Not really; but it was a very nice meal and a really memorable experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the food was poor: It was

The staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the food was poor: It arrived cold and was served not as requested. I will not return.

Wonderful find!

By nametaken75 |

We were freezing and got a bit lost on way to a reservation at another restaurant, and stopped in to get warm and have a drink. We felt like we were transported to another time! Warm, cozy and romantic....and the staff was so nice. A small jazz band played (not loud!) and the drinks were perfect. I highly recommend to stop in to enjoy the atmosphere and drinks. (We didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food). Can't wait to go back!

Fun place for late lunch

By dperez123 |

Late Friday lunch. Most people sitting were enjoying a mid-afternoon drink or tea. Attentive service, delicious Mediterranean food. Loved the frilled octopus and spicy shrimp but the mince beef in the manti was not flavorful enough. Steak was ok, shoulda gone for the lamb choices. Profiteroles were average. I liked the decor & outdoor seating ( great for people watching)

Hidden little great place

By Rebeca O |

We found this by chance, we were tired and just want to sit down and have a drink before going to dinner somewhere else we had already booked. We sat at the bar and order cocktails. The ambience is perfect, the service first class, to the point of having my glass swapped for a chilled one before I finished my dirt martini. I asked for a glass of water and the four of us were served. We also had olives and were presented with small plates and forks. The food I seen going around looked very appetising. If we didn't had a booking somewhere else I would love to have stayed there for the night.

A new romantic gem for tribeca

By John D |

This is the second incarnation of Antique Garage, the first being in SoHo. They have done an outstanding job in re-creating the wonderful warm ambiance of the first. The chef/owner is turkish and the food certainly slants that way. Wonderful mediterranean dishes. I had a fish dish that was wrapped in grape leaves and seared. Delightful. My wife had veal sweatbreads that were out of this world. Highly recommend it. The space is very warm and inviting with vintage chandeliers, a throwback vibe and a jazz duet performing for sunday brunch. Similar to the original, there is an emphasis on live jazz music in the space. The wait staff is very friendly and very attentive. A great place to take a date. There is a large banquet table in the middle of the space that would be wonderful for a large group or a party. Also, the owner is a consummate host...and goes to great measure to make sure all of his patrons are well taken care of and satisfied with their experience. Overall, wonderful food, service and ambiance. A real gem in this part of Tribeca. We liked our experience so much for dinner that we went back later in the week for sunday brunch.

Great end to our break

Fell into the Antique (staying at the Roxy) for some live music and supper. Great service and fabulous eclectic mix of food served. The lamb meatballs and burgers were our favourites washed down with the Poully Fusse. Great sounds from the jazz band

Divine Combination of Food, Drink, Service and Jazz!

By Lisamarie C |

I've now been to this small but stunning space three times. The first was just for a snack and drink at the bar. The second was a full meal with 8 people. And the most recent was a dinner of appetizers at the bar. All three visits have been excellent. The food is delicious, creative and very pretty (and you will not be able to stop eating the amazing bread!) ! We've had seafood, lamb, hummus, octopus and more. The service has always been attentive and timely..but this time it was over the top with Francis the host and Paulina behind the bar. My husband and I felt very well taken care of. We've had wonderful wines and Paulina makes a mean jalapeño margarita! AND on top of all this the Antique Garage has live jazz music every night! It's a great place!

EXCELLENT FOOD and outstanding entertainment!!! Belly dancers were AMAZING!!!

By Bruce L |

Excellent evening at the Antique Garage Tribeca. Will recommend to anyone who would listen. Wonderful evening, delicious food, drinks and the service was outstanding!!!

wonderful restaurant! Great food, live music, excellent food stylish atmosphere

By Philip J |

Tribeca is so lucky to have this new addition. The decorations are so unusual it really is like being in a museum. The ambience is comfortable and the staff could not be more accommodating. The food is Turkish and healthy. There is a large table for big groups and places for an intimate romantic dinner. A lovely bar and live music. The music is in the front of the restaurant so you can still hear each other talking in the restaurant. This is a sister restaurant to the Antique Garage in Soho and the food is the same or just as good! This restaurant is highly recommended!

Give it a try, would go back.

By John W |

Wonderful experience. Arrived early to have a drink at the bar and listen to some wonderful Jazz. Finally sat down and Ana was our server. Fantastic. She was attentive, made some great suggestions and steered us clear of some items, Friendly and so glad she served us. Overall the place has a nice vibe, feel and comfort. Food was good and priced appropriately for quality, service and ambiance. Would go back.

Good atmosphere, live amusive, attentive staff and good food. Whats not to like. we ate here twice in our 2 week stay.

Lovely dinner!

This is such a great place, absolutely special without being pompous or pretentious. Great service, lovely food, and live music!! One of my favourite places in NY!

Sunday night dinner

By Romanydog |

We came here during the week and loved it so much we came back. The appetizers are very generous servings. I recommend the haloumi and the octopus but all the meals were excellent. The jazz added to the great atmosphere which is like a luxury scene from The Godfather. Highly recommended.

Not too good

By HonestMcHonest |

The food is across the board pricey and mediocre. The service is inattentive Come for a drink if they have live music - which can be excellent - but don’t eat here

A+++ Loved this!

By Sarahmlee44 |

Never before have I written a thank you note along with signing the credit card receipt, but I did here. My daughter and I were in New York for a weekend for her (19th) birthday. This meal was a definite highlight! Absolutely delicious food. We were swooning. Attentive waitstaff who never let the water glass get less than a third empty. And absolutely beautiful decor - so warm and inviting and romantic. Oh! And live jazz! (It was a perfect volume - loud enough to hear and few festive, not not so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation). I wish I lived where I could come more often.

Amazing dinner

By Martin F |

We had a fantastic dinner with friends. Table of ten, great service, hummus and tzaitziki were excellent, had a sea bass, also good. Great location and perfect atmosphere and place to meet friends or with family

great ambiance

By AliGunertem |

Lovely evening at the Antique Garage, Tribeca. Cosy atmosphere with Victorian decorations. Antique pieces, chandeliers, live jazz and cool people..prices were not too expensive for NY standards and they have a decent wine selection. Turkish reds are great choices. Don't expect much just enjoy yourself, ambiance will take over. You wont be disappointed.

Great Mediterranean food

By Bob G |

First the address is wrong they are at 41 Mercer St. about a block from the address posted here. This place is a wonderful place with great food, fun people and location is in an old working garage. Very cool place. Go have fun but remember the address is 41Mercer St

Berry Smash!

By Ruddy_Was_Here |

I love a nice bar and Antique Garage Tribeca has a beautiful set up with live jazz. The Berry Smash cocktail was absolutely on point, made with whiskey and muddled berries. I am a huge fan now.

Very good food, but nevertheless a let-down

By Umair M |

The food here was very good indeed, with the stand-out appetizers edging out the mains: fried pastries are especially good here, so don’t miss out on the puff pastry stuffed with shrimp; the yogurt-drenched ground beef manti; or even the cheese pastry that comes with the outstanding meze sampler (among the six fine dips, the fava bean, and dense roasted red pepper dips were especially memorable). The Aegean Sarma, featuring tomato and a very mild cheese wrapped in luxuriant grape leaves, was also excellent. The mains were a bit less inspired, with very good (if a tad generic) lamb kababs (the Patlican in particular promised much with a dense eggplant sauce, but the patty-like consistency of the lamb kabab at the center grew a bit monotonous by the end); my personal favorite was the Begendi: amidst a wealth of seafood and creamy eggplant, the octopus in particular was stunning. Antique Garage needs to do something about the middling wine list: the food deserved better. The great food notwithstanding, I won’t be going here again: when our party of six had made reservations for New Year’s eve, we weren’t told that we would be seated downstairs in the cramped bar area (rather than in the upstairs dining area); diners there were clearly the step-children, with under-staffed/over-worked service and significant trouble getting anyone’s attention. The next-to-worst was us dawdling for forty or so minutes after our mains, only to be told, when we finally got someone’s attention to order dessert, that the kitchen was closed. The absolute worst? Getting our coats and walking out, via the upstairs dining room, only to realize the party was in full swing upstairs, with dessert being served even close to 1 AM. I am by no means a “high maintenance” customer, but given our meal had cost $110/person for only two courses, not only was this not value for money, but I felt shabbily treated, and taken for granted in a city where there are simply too many dining options for this to be indulged.

Neighborhood gem - deliciousness for the tongue and ears!

By Mac C |

We are thrilled to have a second outpost of the Antique Garage in Tribeca! Decorated in much the same 'eclectic Victorian' style, with a similar Mediterranean-centric menu, wonderful live jazz every day - it's a most welcome addition to our 'hood. This branch (first, popular branch in Soho) is not yet 'discovered', so hurry there for a real treat. Brunch is also very relaxed and enjoyable.

Excellent all the way

By Pikkewynct |

We had a great dinner at the Antique Garage Tribeca last night. We shared the meze platter, with a few extras for starters, which was fantastic. We then each had a main - all food was top quality and delicious. A live jazz trio added to the ambiance. The service was attentive and friendly. Well done!

Lively Place with great food

By GlobetrotterDK1967 |

We came for lunch and loved the place. The place is tiny but charming. We enjoyed a great lunch with seafood as the focal point. Go! Enjoy!

Super cozy place

By Veselka I |

Super cozy, tiny and artistic place. The music is nice, the place is a bit overcrowded and there is no space for even the dishes on the tables but everything else is just perfect. The place has its own charm, the meals are delicious and the coctails are good too. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Setting

By Fettucine |

Dropped in fairly early on New Year's Eve. As expected, it was busy but we found a couple spots at the bar near jazz trio that sounded good. The bar and restaurant are beautifully decorated. We had a drink and debated whether to eat or not. Ultimately we chose not to, only because we were making several stops in the neighborhood. Judging from the appearance of the establishment and friendliness of the staff, we will come back to try the food on another evening.

Awesome cocktails

By Daniel W |

Stopped in for a pre-dinner cocktail. I got a vodka/olive juice cocktail. Man, quite strong and flavorful. The others I our party also enjoyed their drinks. According to the bartender, there’s another location with a nice outdoor patio close.

Terrific restaurant for a fun buzzy night

By Collarbones |

A terrific restaurant for a buzzy night out. The live jazz band was fabulous as was the food, setting & atmosphere. The waiting staff were really fun as well especially Pedro who really made our evening. It is expensive but everything in NYC is and the whole experience was worth it. The quality of the food is excellent - especially the desserts. Highly recommend.

Two Dinners in one week!

By Sylvialuna |

First of all, the service and welcome to Antique Garage Tribeca is stellar. Michael should have ten stars on customer service. I did not have a reservation and was traveling solo and was given a spot to enjoy music and food on a busy Saturday night. The food is high quality and well prepared. Get the mezze platter! On Saturday night it is very busy and there is a live jazz trio. I went back on a Monday night with two colleagues and it was quieter but lovely. We all loved the decor and the quirky mix of light fixtures and velvet. This is definitely worth putting on your list of places to dine in NYC. Great energy and overall wonderful experience.

rude server, horrible meals

By LitsClan |

The wow factor here starts and stops with the appearance and decor. My meal came out in a combination of overdone lamb and cold bulgar pilaf. My wife asked for shrimp to be added to the seafood pasta and the waiters response was "ehhhhhh we don't do that". Her pasta was in a watery tomato broth of some sort. It had absolutely no flavor at all. The couple next to us saw how our experience was going and wisely left before ordering. With so many options in Tribeca, save yourself the let down. A drink at the bar and an app maybe, but dinner, nope.

Known for the bar - best to stick to that

By Foxhound |

It’s a lovely spot, very classy. My local friends didn’t know that they even served food. That’s a place for drinks. Well, after dinner there, I tend to agree. Looks like a fun and sassy place, but I was there for a business dinner- and since I had packed so many meetings into the trip, I was hungry. Perhaps I ordered wrong. Avoid the prosciutto salad. On the bright side, the bubbles were fantastic!!

Super cool and very good food

By Karine M |

This restaurant is an amazing place with a very good food and good live jazz music. We definitely love this place and we will comeback here every time we come to NY.

Great surprise - definitely be back!

By BDD99 |

We were looking for a place, close to our hotel where we could grab something quick before our show later that evening. As we both really enjoy Mediterranean food - especially after our trips to Israel - we decided to try this place. The decor was interesting and charming. It truly is an old garage, complete with garage bay doors, which were open on this evening making the small space feel larger and al fresca-like. The restaurant converted this garage into an eclectic but inviting place with dark wood, intentionally random tableware (someone had been shopping at flea markets to find this variety) and friendly wait-staff. We started with appetizers of hummus which was so delicious, my husband and I didn't leave anything in the bowl and olives - my favorite thing. Plus the meatballs, lamb shishkabob and hanger steak. Everything was tasty and served to perfection. The spicy beyti, ground lamb with spices, was delicious; not too spicy and so flavorful, we kept saying - OH MY Goodness - this is SO good! Definitely recommend this place and will be back.

A Special and memorable evening

By mwfoodie |

Great spot! The ambience and decor is a throw back in time and the music brings it all together. If you want a special and unique experience extending beyond your meal…this is it! Wine was excellent at a reasonable price. The Turkish bread is definitely worth the carb intake.

Great dinner for a group of 24

By Istanbulapt |

Probable one of the best dinners for a very long time in New York. All appetizers, main dishes and deserts were just excellent. The service was quick and near perfect. The barman has done a great job as well with the drinks, cocktails, etc I had gone the Antique Garage in Soho, however this one is just as good. Highly recommend.

A Mediterranean feast in Tribeca

By John F |

We dined here on the 28th September. The antique ambience is so warm and welcoming. The service was quick and efficient. The menu was extensive with vegetarian options. The beverage menu was also extensive with a good range of wines and cocktails. The serving sizes are quite generous and full of flavor. Overall a nice dining experience in Tribeca, NY.

One of my new favorites...

By umassmom |

...and I have several NYC favorite restaurants. The food and service has been excellent both times we have been here. They also have jazz, at least on Saturday nights.

Disappointing at Best

By elisabethmb88 |

I was very excited to try Antique Garage because the menu and decor looked great and there were so many rave reviews online. Unfortunately this ended up being a major let down. The mezzes were ok, but under seasoned. I had the chicken kebabs for dinner, which, though simple, were actually delicious especially with the yogurt sauce. The real problem was the rude wait staff. Our waiter disappeared for 20 minutes before we were even able to order a beer. When the food did arrive we weren’t given any serving utensils for our salad, and were unable to get the attention of our waiter or any others-not for lack of trying. When we asked for the check the waiter would not give it to us, and instead he “insisted” that we look at the dessert menu (when we had already declined). Had they made us feel more welcome, we probably would have ordered more. This was especially frustrating because it took another 15 minutes to get the bill from the waiter. When we asked the coat check girl for our coats she threw them on a chair next to the table. This is probably one of the least welcoming restaurants I have visited, and I definitely will not be going back. We’re pretty easy going people who love trying new restaurants. I typically would not write a poor review, but Antique Garage made me feel uncomfortable and was overall a disappointing experience.

Great jazz with very good Middle Eastern food

By bigvicSydney |

What a delight to have great jazz as we enjoyed our very tasty Middle Eastern meal. The mixed plate Sultans Table was a meat dish and most tasty. I had the Seafood Begendi. A generous combination in a spicy presentation. Really good. Prices we’re very reasonable Mains $24-36. No surcharge for the excellent trio of a singer ,pianist and bass which enhanced the meal. Good service and very interesting decor. Highly recommended

Great meal, great atmosphere, standard city prices

By Mdgrl79 |

I recently had a small group birthday outing to visit Aire Ancient Bath, which is closely located to Antique Garage. I was looking for a restaurant that was well-reviewed, convenient and not TOO expensive, and this restaurant fit the bill. My group enjoyed their meals and wine. The Turkish red wine we had was excellent! We also got a few desserts to split - the midnight express dessert was phenomenal! I think a few folks in my group were maybe a little put off by the prices, but I don't think they realize this is NYC we're talking about! A "premium" is paid for NYC alone. It's true that a comparable meal in the surrounding areas might be a little cheaper, but I think we all felt we got our money's worth. Glad I got to celebrate my birthday in NYC with some delicious Mediterranean food!

Pretty Spot - Good Food - Mid Range Experience at Fine Dining Prices

By SimoneNYC |

The Antique Garage in Tribeca is very attractive. A great hybrid of shabby and chic - lovely large chandeliers and large baroque mirrors set against brick walls. Wood floors and one beautiful antique carpet in the center. The bar, at the front, is chic and a great spot for a cocktail. However, no complimentary bar nibbles served with drinks. The food is very good, and the service is friendly, but a little forgetful. We had to ask for bread 3 times before the waiter remembered - each time was a friendly apology. We were there on a Sunday night and the place was about 75% empty. The cocktails and the food are very good, but I have two objections: The cocktails are $15. each which is pricey. I wouldn't object so much if the glasses weren't so small. My dining companion and I stuck to one each instead of ordering a second, as the though of paying $60. + tip for 4 cocktails with dinner is ridiculous. . So until they use larger glasses, or lower the price to $10, which is still a hefty mark-up, I'm going to look for any happy hour deals. The food was very good, and prices run from $24. to $38 for a main course. That's pricey, but it's very good food and the portions are a good size. My biggest objection to this place is the lack of tablecloths. At these prices, I don't want to put my cutlery down on bare table. It's gross. Even a cheap diner gives you a paper place mat. When faced with the no tablecloth faux pas, I ask for an extra napkin, and then put it under my plate, drink, cutlery etc. At $54 + tax & tip, for one cocktail and one main course, I want a tablecloth on the table! (Okay to cover with butcher block paper so the cloth can be reused).

Meh

By Mymilesandsmiles |

When you step inside you will be greeted by an unique atmosphere with Victorian era decorations. Antique pieces, beautiful chandeliers, Mediterranean dishes and live jazz.. I really want to love this place BUT, food AND service are lacking big time. There is no live jazz or beautiful antiques that will make you look pass the mediocre food and very slow (almost careless) service. To be fair, the cucumber Cosmo was pretty delicious and makes me want to go back and give this place as second chance as an after work sitting at the bar having a drink and maaaaybe an appetizer kinda chance Food: - Hummus: good but is hard to mess up hummus so no brownie points here - Pasta dish: nothing special pretty much flavorless - Prosciutto Pizzette: SKIP!! Do not spend $30 on a giant piece of flavorless cracker with some rucola and prosciutto on top (see pictures) It was very disappointing as our main dishes were completely flavorless. I probably would be much better of having a rucola salad over some dry greens and prosciutto "wanna be flat bread" We wanted to order dessert and another drink but our waitress never came back, seems like was just one server for the whole floor so maybe I can't fault her for not doing a good job. Still, with the price tags they should be able to afford more than one server... All in all *IF* I'm in the area with some time to spare, I would give it a try for the cocktails and Jazz but would not by any means rush back there. It was a disappointing experience =[

Found a gem off Canal

By Toni L |

My husband and I were coming from my office party on a Friday night. He works off Canal and The Taxi let us off a few blocks away due to traffic. Plus we wanted a drink and maybe some food. We stumbled into antique garage and we mesmerized by the candelabras and atmosphere . We were sat at a table in the middle of everything - the food and drinks were very good not to mention reasonable. I enjoyed our night out and would definitely recommend this great little hidden gem.

Great food

By John M |

I went here with a group and we ate outside, so I can't speak to the experience of dining indoors. The outdoor experience was great - there was ample room so we did not feel packed in. Service was friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent and well-prepared. I would go back!
