Brunch

By Ryan M |

Was here for a birthday brunch and it exceeded expectation with the food selection and service. Recommended for a gathering

Awesome West Village foodie spot

By benjdog |

My wife and I dined here last night. Cozy ambiance and neighborhood-friendly vibe. Welcoming with a hint of chic. Good soulful music at a reasonable levels. We could hear each other well so that was cool. Menu was classic and enticing. Interesting wines by the glass, which they poured tableside and allowed to taste. Both were great. Also tried the apple cider-based mocktail which - no lie - was amazing. We started with crudites (& dip) and the crab salad - both refreshing and delicious. Then shared the linguine with clams which was authentically cooked al dente and a hanger steak that was excellent. Finished with a not too-sweet chocolate cake and sour cream. All-in-all, pretty darn impressive and not complicated. Definitely a return spot. Didn't get to do the whole roast chicken with white truffles. I need to try before out of season.

Not your Normal Neighborhood Restaurant.

By Paul B |

This is a really nice spot near Hell's Kitchen and Chelsea. Nice neighborhoody looking restaurant with lots of outside tables. The vibe is relaxed and the food is much better than you'd expect. We had a wonderful server who was patient and organized and helpful. Both owners came out to greet us and it was just a nice time. The wine list is solid with lots of great wines and great values. There are also a lot of super-high end wines on the list too. The food has a nice rustic feel to it, and is very flavorful and cooked perfectly. We had a variety of appetizers and mid-courses and at least 5 different main courses. They were all well-recieved and had really nice comments from my guests. The best parts of this restaurant is the casual atmosphere, high quality food and presentation, and really warm and friendly people at the front end, and at the table. I highly recommend this restaurant as an option for a moderately priced meal in a nice neighborhood and a really great staff. I really enjoyed myself.

Unhappy Bartender!

By Patrick R |

We heard so many great things about this place that my wife and I stopped by on Sunday to have a drink at the bar. Up to this point we were having an amazing time in the city and had already been to numerous restaurants and bars. It was so nice to see the city back where it was before COVID! I never understand owners/management who place employees (especially bartenders) in the most public facing jobs who are not friendly. I know this is the "spot" in the West Village but man they have to train their employees better. The bartender was incredibly rude and so disinterested the entire time we where there. We cut our visit short because of her attitude. It wasn't even crowded behind the bar. Anyway I am a big review person and I felt compelled to let others know that we did not have a great experience at Anton's. Maybe she was having a bad day. There are way too many spots in the city to put up with this nonsense. Its post COVID and restaurants should be happy to people back in their establishments.

Overpriced and undelivered

By Tony Y |

I had high hopes for this one. Sadly, a 2 is generous. I'm not a friend of the restaurant nor was I paid to review it so here it goes. We were here for a 6pm reservation on Sunday. We arrived at 5:55 and had to wait for our table to be ready. The table itself was wobbly, no one noticed. We each ordered a glass of wine. The wine glasses arrived 5 within minutes, the wine arrived 15 minutes later. We ordered the broiled oysters to start but just two since they were charging the absurd price of $5.50 per. Twenty minutes after our oysters were done, our first pastas arrived. The angel hair and the lasagnettes were good but nothing spectacular. There was a handful of teeny tiny clams in the angel hair and the ragu was like any other ragu you've had in your life. Not $25 worthy. Thirty minutes later, our hanger steak arrived. We also ordered the shmaltz potatoes. Both were under seasoned. The steak was cooked perfectly so I'll give them that much. With the Chef's resume, I expected a lot more. Sadly this place is way overpriced for what they're delivering. And what they delivered is disappointment.

Somewhere where between Average

By TK F |

Somewhere where between Average and Slightly above average We were seated at a table by the door, a window, and the bar. Freezing would be a good description! The table was for two had no set up (candle etc) like other tables, (we had to ask) it was very crowded and loud as the bar area was over flowing. So I almost said I’m out this is ridiculous. The Som came over to help us choose wine. Recommended a wine without asking what we liked or what we might be eating? Come on man really? The wine list was pretty ordinary and a bit pricey The food however, very good. Excellent cheese with wine before dinner. Bucatini, Chicken and Carrots were all pretty good for dinner. Desert not so much Wouldn’t go back, but wouldn’t tell ya not to go either

Amazing place

By Max |

Found by accident but how lucky was I! An absolute gem of a place. Great food. Great ambience. Great prices. Really interesting wines by the glass. Excellent. Big shout out to Dennis, who was outstanding.

Special place. Excellent meal and wonderfull staff in great location.

By LawGod2 |

How this place is not more popular is shocking to me. Go while you can before this place is discovered and packed all the time. The chef uses unusual preparations of traditional American meals. Feels very upscale but also very comfortable. A great place for a date, a business meal or an early dinner with the family. Great corner location in the West Village. Plenty of outdoor seating. Make sure you try the steak, which is a bargain for NYC and the fantastic and unusual cocktails. You will want to come back soon.

Good Lunch spot

By senioritcitizen |

Was very impressed about how well the West Side had grown with restaurants of good quality. This was one of the best at which we had eaten. We were a party of three. Must commend Anton's for making a stiff Gin and Tonic as well as good size pours of wine. Price was commensurate with the size of the drink. We shared a tomato toast a stale piece of bread covered with cheese and sauce. I had the lunch menu ravioli, cheese filling, in a butter sauce. Very good but somewhat small. My wife had the Chicken Waldorf salad, a good size piece of chicken well prepared with a mixed salad. Enjoyed it. My daughter had the Roast Beef au Jus, plentiful size and great dipping sauce as well as horseradish spread. Service was excellent from the Waiter and staff.

Great pasta

Great food and service. Venue is a bit loud and we had to leave as they were closing down. Kitchen closes at 10. Great pasta

Overrated, Like a Lot of NY Restaurants

By PB |

Mediocre menu, small portions, nothing particularly remarkable other than the bizarre prices (ex-New Yorker here, I don't price scare easily). Good Lord, people, it's on Hudson Street, and you're charging Four Seasons prices. Exceptionally good Martini but at $21 it had better be.

Lovely restaurant

We absolutely loved our lunch at Anton's. The service is wonderful, extremely friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and the place itself is charming , we very much recommend it !

Great restaurant, great service

By sgrey7 |

We walked past this restaurant one night on our way to another restaurant around the corner (Mary Lane) and it looked pretty buzzy so we thought we'd try it. Was glad we did. We loved it. We sat outside and everything was good. First I would like to thank our waiter. I didn't catch his name - he said he had been working there 30 years. He was one of the best waiters I can remember. Just a nice guy, very attentive, sense of humour and made us feel welcome. The food was great. My wife had a pasta and said it was one of the best she had ever had. The location in West Village is great. We ate in the day but it is probably at night that it comes to life. Very buzzy, great atmosphere. We will return when we are next in NY.

Enjoyable night with good food

By catlaw98 |

5 of us stopped in for dinner while in NYC for work. We arrived around 9pm on a Wednesday. All the tables were full and the bar area was crowded as well. We had a reservation so we only waited a few minutes. The menu has a variety of options, but is not gigantic. We opted for the city ham and country ham plate and the iced vegetable crudite as starters. Both were very good. I would not say the portions were large, but it was plenty for us. For our mains, we opted for the Ribeye (one of the specials), Angel Hair Francese, and Bucatini Baczynski. All of these were quite good. The Angel Hair had a bread crumb crust over the top. The red sauce for the bucatini had depth and well balanced mix of sweetness and acidity. Service was good as well. N*joy

Recommend for friends and couples!

Lovely relaxed vibe. Super charming staff. Food mostly excellent (the pasta, the steak, the cheesecake) with one miss. Excellent location.

Anton’s Andres

By Jose J L |

Thank you Leo! Your service was great. More than great! It was awesome! However, Andres, it’s hard to experience such a lousy service, sarcasm and such racism coming out of a fellow Hispanic. It’s hard to see that when visiting New York and having a great time we have to encounter such a harsh server. Anton’s: Great food doesn’t mix with the attitude of a person like Andres. PD for the manager: Check the video around 6 pm when we were about to leave when Andres is still gossiping about our table.

Delicious!

By Maggie B |

The food is absolutely fantastic! Everything we had was amazing. From starters to dessert, would recommend.

Great location and an excellent meal - even for families.

By lawgod |

We weren't planning on eating here, but we were in the area and the kids were starving, so we went in and hoped for the best. And we were not disappointed. The room is lovely and in a fantastic location in the West Village. The staff are young but well trained and fantastic with kids. The wines by the glass were excellent. Food was a mix of familiar and unfamiliar and in very managable portions so we could order a bunch of things and share and not feel like we wasted any extra food. The bread was very very good too - I wonder where they get it. It was frankly one of the best meals we have had as a family in NYC. Looking forward to visiting again.

Good honest food, unassuming place

By TheGlobalGrownUp |

There is nothing exceptional about this place, but we enjoyed a very nice Sunday brunch here. The food was very good, and the service perfectly nice. The setting is the typical slightly tired, but cosy NY place. I would go again, but also tell my guests not to expect miracles, just a nice meal.

Maybe it was an off night but....

By David K |

I don't like leaving negative reviews but there was something wrong for sure on Saturday night for an early reservation at 5:30. I can't understand when half the place was so empty that early they went to seat us at the smallest coldest table by the front door. After our No in unison the quickly moved us to a table opposite the bar. The noise was like being at the Super Bowl for two hours. Just deafening. I have never shouted more throughout a dinner. And then the server was just awful. He never told us there was specials which we learned after we ordered, he never brought us bread, and the funniest thing was after we paid our bill and about to stand he totally forgot and asked us if we wanted to order desert. It was like a scene out of a movie. The pastas were just ok. Not very big portions and overall I would recommend folks try any of the 1000 better restaurants in the area.

Great neighborhood spot in the West Village. Great food, great wine, great location.

By lawgod |

One of my favorite places to go in the West Village. Mainly locals who appreciate the great food and unusual menu. Wine list and cocktails are excellent. Seems to change personalities from a great romantic night spot in the evening to a family lunch spot on the weekends, to a good place for a business meeting during lunch on weekdays. The whitefish appetizer holds a special place in my heart. The pastas have also never disappointed.

Nice Cozy Dinner, A touch noisy

By PB123 |

We had a nice dinner, attentive service, solidly good food in a cozy but busy restaurant. We were inside but the outside tables would also have been great. I saw a previous comment about wine list prices. Prices were “punchy” so a suggestion would be to add a wider variety of lower priced wines. We did manage to find a couple of nice wines at fair prices.

Spring Night on the “Avenue”

By ROBERT I |

We had a lovely dinner on the Avenue, actually Hudson Street. A fine Spring evening. Very friendly and competent service. There is a fine menu with plenty of selections. We had a camembert starter, ravioli snd chicken. All very good choices. An unusually diverse wine list by the glass. Although we did not sit inside we walked through it. It is such a charming and comfortable space that we cannot wait to be inside. Highly recommend. Reasonably priced for Manhattan.

Rip off wine list

By Q Smythe |

The wine list is completely out of proportion to the price of the items on the menu. We felt that it was insulting that we were unable to buy wine to accompany our dinner, since the price of every bottle was stratospheric. Our waiter was extremely pushy and tried to hurry us.

Great!

By tootsemikayla |

Excellent! We started with the arugula salad it was fresh and light. Then had the pasta special, followed by the branzino and don't skip the mashed potatos. Service was perfectly timed and pleasant.
