Cold Servings

By KaushMistry |

The burgers were served cold. Sent the food back and received the same burgers served on a different plate. My son had taken a bite of the burger and noticed that the burger was cold and I also noticed that my burger was cold. When the same burgers came out on a different plate - no waiters came to check to see how our food was therefore we were unable to complain again. When we did complain the manager was only able to reduce the bill - not worth it. Burger and chips costs $25 - what a rip off! On top of that I was ill for two days after eating the cold buffalo burger. Avoid unless you want to pay over the odds and get an upset tummy. Ryan your service was good but the burgers were not worth the money.

Tasty snack

By Al A |

Pop in for a quick lunch with my niece. Meal tasty if somewhat greasy and the portion size was ridiculously small, was still hungry afterwards, not worth the price tag.

It's pretty good

By ELI |

When it comes to amazing restaurants, Applebees should for sure be ranked at the top. It's clean, the food's amazing and it's affordable. Built in 1980, founded by TJ and Bill Palmer, Applebees still to this day remains one of the best food chains out there. Specializing in dishes such as salads, chicken, pasta, burgers, and ribs, their food variety makes it one of the best of its kind. With it's restaurants in many locations, why not give it a go? I was a child and my family and I were looking for a good place to eat. Applebees somehow came into the conversation and so we ended up going there. It seemed to have been an extremely good looking place so we went in. I might say I'm a trustworthy user of this product because I don't make anything up about it. I have been to locations similar to Applebees and have just as much love of them all. For example, the first reason I suggest Applebees is that the majority of locations are really close by. The buildings are still extremely clean and the staff are highly professional. The second reason why I should suggest Applebees is that the food is very good. They have a pretty decent variety of food choices. The third reason Applebees is a good place to go out and eat is because they have very good prices for the meals they offer. An example of these amazing prices is Grilled Chicken Breast for $9.99. One of the good things about Applebees is that it's a big space, so you could go there with family and friends Additionally, some things that I feel people should know before going to Applebees is that it has won many awards before and is very popular. Applebees can get very busy and for that reason, your order may not come as quickly as you'd like. I think anyone in general would enjoy Applebees' food. You wouldn't need a certain characteristic to like the food there. You'd just have to know what you do and don't like to know if Applebees is the right place for you.

Entered and got a seat and the menu. After that, nothing happened for 15 minutes. I checked with the doir-man and waited further 5 minutes, then left.

Basic

By Gem |

The restaurant was pretty quiet inside so we were seated straight away and offered drinks. There was awful cold air blowing under our table which wasn’t pleasant. I ordered pasta which was cold & my dad ordered a burger, which he also said wasn’t hot enough. The other two meals were hot however. Overall, wouldn’t recommend. Was pricy for very basic food unfortunately.

Emergency food

By Sheryl T |

My son and I ha not eaten and we were both getting cranky. This was nearby and had no wait. I really don't like fast food, but I rdered an impossible burger and it was pretty good.

warning!

when visiting said restaurant please be wary of certain quirks. this restaurant was very rude to me and my companions and THEY DONT SPLIT THE BILL thank you for coming to my TED talk;)

Prohibited to read policies,i am(we) going to take a NY trip and thought of eventual Covid restrictions at Applebees.

By P J |

Since they wont let me read in Sweden i will not go there(Applebees). Why am i not allowed to research policies from sweden? Bad customer service, really bad ! Per Sweden

Good door man, mid wings, bad service

By Connie D |

Mediocre wings, little to no service from the bar and wait staff. No one asked how my food was or if I needed anything. No one refilled my drink. Then they had the gall to add an extra 18% gratuity for service I didn’t receive. Not super impressed tbh. The only good thing about the restaurant was the doorman, Wylan, now it that 18% I just got strong armed into tipping could’ve went to him alone I’d have been happy.

Far too busy

By Steve H |

Upon entering the restaurant there was a short queue downstarirs but we were told we could go upstairs. Once upstairs you are given a number and told 10-15 minutes. 40 minutes later you are still waiting bunced up in a crowd standing in a foyer. Nobody gives a damn (as they dont need to). We were told the food was average at best but the atmosphere was cramped and possibly dangerous in the event of an emergency. Like several otehrs we left before our number was called as we didnt want to wait any longer. Not the best of environments although I cant rate the food as we didnt get that far.

Awful.

By RB UK |

I have to say after travelling extensively throughout the US on business and pleasure, I always enjoy a trip to AppleBees. But not this time. We arrived to a server who clearly did not want to be there, the drink order was taken and the drinks were never refilled (something which I have become accustomed to in the US). Food took ages to arrive and was cold on arrival. No apologise. I would avoid.

Overwhelmingly disappointing

By Stephen D |

Relatively empty for a Saturday morning and for good reason. Slow service and awful food. The fried potatoes were uncooked, the avocado toast not toasted. everything came slowly - even the bill! never again

Food took awhile. Burger was good tho.

By Jack |

This Applebees is nice. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was this mini Statue of Liberty and the murals on the walls representing the city. It is very cool to look at. I ordered a burger and although it took awhile to come, it was very good. The fries were good as well. I recommend!

Bad experience at TimeSquare

By Cahotico |

The food is not bad, but the place was very dirty, the cabinet in very poor condition. I asked the waitress to show the NBA final, that's why I went to eat there... and they never changed the TV, there was Golf.

Cup of tea

By Ewelina p |

Below a photo of,, full cup of tea,, according to service in restaurant. Even that I asked 2 to change it i got the same amount. Later on you have to pay for that and leave 20 procent of tip šŸ‘

Christmas Day Meal

By Jade M |

My parents and I came to Applebees in Times Square for our Christmas Day Dinner. We were told we had to wait at the bar for a table for 3 people which would take around 20 minutes, not bad for Christmas Day. An hour passed and we were still waiting at the bar, so my dad went to speak to the lady who told us to wait by the bar. She apologised and said how busy they were, which we understood. We were then ushered to a table tucked out of the way which was nice and the restaurant was busy and loud. I ordered a large green slushy cocktail which tasted so good and you would hope so for $15! We all ordered our mains which was the steak with mushrooms, garlic green beans and fries. This took a while to come out which we did expect, however when it did arrive it was all stone cold, including the steak. So disappointing. Our lovely waitress apologised and took our food away, it then came back much warmer, but my steak went from medium rare to medium / well done. We still ate it all anyway and tasted amazing. Our waitress was really kind and said they would knock something off the bill for not only the cold meal but for our long wait. She came back with the bill which was $60 in total, including tip, they had taken 50% off all three steaks which was so so kind and unexpected! My dad tipped them well and tipped our waitress separately too as she went above and beyond for us. I would recommend coming here but maybe not for Christmas Day again.

Excellent but price is ridiculous

By Aj |

Great restaurant good vibe. Good food. And cocktails were lovely. I could get the same else where and pay a lot less . Would I visit again yes probably because of the quality of food and drinks

THE WORST BREAKFAST OF MY LIFE

By Riccardo R |

I was on my honeymoon with my wife. It's not the first time I've found myself having breakfast in Manhattan, sometimes a bit of inattention can happen, but I would never have imagined such a DISASTER. First of all, there are no prices on the menu, so it is already complicated for a European to calculate taxes, tips, etc. so it becomes practically impossible. For the sake of minimal hygiene, forget about placemats. Raw and greasy table. We order and the waitress writes in pencil on the notepad because the pad wasn't working. Around us very annoyed customers, we would soon understand why. First of all, forget about courteous and/or smiling waitresses. It happens. Oh well. Some of the food arrives but BE CAREFUL without cutlery, which arrived LATER. Without a napkin, not even on request, nothing!. They bring something NEVER ordered, and breakfast for me. (Forget the photos on the menu, they don't even look like it.) My wife nothing. After a long time, in which other customers were leaving annoyed, a strange thing arrives which according to them should have been a waffle filled with bacon as their choice. Of course we left it there and left paying the bill. Total $120! I was so furious that I didn't check the receipt... at the hotel I saw that they charged us for the wrong order for the modest sum of 35 dollars more and the "choices" were actually added for a fee. Like I said, absolutely the worst breakfast of my life! There are so many places in Manhattan to have wonderful breakfasts, avoid this place!

Disappointed

By Caroline D |

Food cold. Expensive and consequently not good value. Tasteless. First and last time to experience their food offerings. Meals were burger and lattice fries, grilled chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and onion rings. Chicken wasn’t cooked by grilling it, very cold, mashed potato with not much flavour. Felt sorry for the staff serving it.

Good food but odd transaction process

By joseph w |

The food was very good as was the service. Background music was rather loud. Waitress wanted to take my card away to process payment without pin number .Very insecure method. So paid in cash instead. Shame

Only in New York

By Ronda A |

Typical Applebees on the inside. Peices were much higher because we were in N. Y. Paid $12.99 for a drink in town and paid $5 for same drink in Flushing. Service was slow because waiter had to cover many tables.

Customer Service Lost

By ddraiggoch27 |

Whilst in New York my wife and I thought we would pop in for Breakfast, which we were looking forward to. It all went downhill fast! We were in the waiting area and the hostess popped in and out within 10 minutes and didn't think to ask if we along with the 4 other group of people if we wanted a table and i had to chase after her to say i wanted a table. Once we were seated the waitress looked like she was p***ed off and made us feel like we inconvenienced her. Really poor organisation and customer service

Go to one of the other 24,000 restaurants in New York

By Kris B |

Avoid. We found ourselves short of time before a show and thought we would go here for a quick feed as it was near the theatre. It was loud, the servers couldn't have been more disinterested, the food was mediocre but expensive! We weren't expecting too much but this was so overpriced for the experience. Good lesson learned as we won't be going to Applebee's again.

Thieves

By B0318 |

A salad $30, mozzarella sticks $28 and a crown $9. In total $77 with a $20 tip... we'll never go back. Not to mention the tap water served at the table. Not recommended.

Good food, perfect location

By Erbee64 |

We visited some Applebee's on previous trips, and really liked some of the dishes. We tried them again, and were not disappointed. The chicken fingers with the honey mustard, the shrimp stirfry were really nice. I tried the new load trio fajita, and can only recommend it. The prices seems to be higher than in other states, but given the location, it still seemed to be in the OK range. One remark: only one restroom is too limited for the size of the restaurant: it was not busy at all, and still there was all the time a queue. A special thank you for the extremely friendly lady that served our food!

Nice dinner/atmosphere

By Traveling2Disney |

I usually don't do chain restaurants in NYC but we needed a quick meal and this was right next to the theater we were heading to. The food was very good , I had the shrimp skewer and mashed potatoes and I enjoyed it.

Terrible

By CThorn87 |

Waiter was a nice guy but was terrible, forgot the drinks about 3 times. Food was cold and bland, ridiculously overpriced. Go somewhere else

The good point is...

By TynlaSoie |

Looking for a late-opening restaurant, we were more than happier to count on such a restaurant like Applebee's. The emplacement is good, the staff is good without being sparkling, restaurant was a little bit Noisy but it doesn't stop you to talk with your friends. Regarding the food, I ordered a fried shrimps & French fries and a frozen Mango lemonade : both were tasteful without being trasncending, but if you Are looking for full plates, you'll be delighted.

Waited Over an Hour For Food

By LeslieLorraine |

My mom and I came here last night (11/30/19) and the service was terrible. We were walking through Times Square and looking for a place to eat. We asked our waitress for water and she didn't bring it. After about 15 minutes we flagged down a bus boy to get us water. After waiting for over an hour for simple order-- Caesar Salad and a half order of ribs we told the waitress we would be leaving if our food didn't come within the next 5 minutes. As we were getting up to leave our food finally came. The ribs arrived cold, so they had been sitting out for awhile. The waitress did not seem sympathetic to our wait time nor did she apologize for the delay. As we were leaving my mother bumped into the manager on the stairs. He also did not apologize for the bad service he just said "well, we're busy." Yes... it's Times Square... staff your restaurant appropriately it's always going to be busy! No apology from waitress nor restaurant manager. Avoid this place-- go a few blocks outside of Times Square lots of other restaurant options available.

Worst dining experience I've ever had

By DayTrip50373514198 |

Ordered drinks which were flat, replaced with more flat drinks so we just got water. Food arrived and mine was cold, the waiter had it heated up and when it came back the burger was fine, but the fries were still cold.

Lovely breakfast

By Nkem O |

We had breakfast here one morning, very good portions, tasty and fresh. The $1 coffee and tea were much appreciated.

AVOID, very bad experience. Spoilt our trip to NEW York

By Julie T |

Returned to Applebees as myself and my Daughter visited last year . All I can say is it definitely was not the best, first and foremost the restaurant was very cold. After eventually taking our order our food was luck warm and not very appealing. When it came to pay the bill a 18% tip was added to the bill, very excessive as I did think 10% is sufficient. The day after I did receive notification from my bank that they had charged me again exactly the same time and same amount. How could this happen??? After speaking with the Manager of Applebees he assured me this could not happen, but it did happen as I showed him my account.Back home in England now still trying to get my money back . Avoid unless you want to be charged TWICE. One meal one PAYMENT.

I would think twice

By TMC159 |

Dirtiest restroom in nyc. Or close to it. I hope the kitchen is a bit better. I would try elsewhere. Apps served with not plates and silverware

Great waiter terrible food.

By Justine C |

Unfortunately we could not get into Stardust diner and this was the closest and fastest before an 8pm show. But we waited for food from 6-7:30 and it was cold and tasteless. My daughters chicken was all batter. My steak was all fat. The beer was watered down and the milkshakes as well. If it weren’t for our kind, friendly, and apologetic waiter I’d give it 0 stars. Been to tons of Applebee’s this was by far the worst.

Not good

By debbito20 |

The salmon was not good at all. I did not wnjot it. The salad was really good i must say. I would not visit this apple ees again.

Lower budget sit down American breakfast

By JOHN P |

I read some mediocre reviews in Tripadvisor for this place recently and tend to concur. It’s affordable and if you like beige, egg based breakfasts with syrup and bacon then it may be fine for you. Staff perfectly pleasant although they looked a bit fatigued by the experience of working there. I ordered avocado toast. My expectations were not high and I would say it was pretty low grade. But in fairness it was one of the less expensive meals in an expensive city.

Not the best Applebee’s

By Anne D |

Stopped in here for dinner as we hoped it would be quieter than other options. Service was a little slow and we were served after a group who sat down at the bar after we did. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was fine but not as good as other Applebee’s. What was most surprising was that the prices were way higher that what we expect at Applebee’s restaurants I know this is NYC but food and drinks were way overpriced.

Great Breakfast

By Heather M |

My granddaughter and I popped in here for breakfast on a recent visit. It was very satisfying / only problem we had was with the fried eggs. Unknown to me I ordered sunny side up but the cane back cooked ā€˜under easy’. We later discovered this means the white is not quite cooked. Service was a bit slow but enjoyable just the same.

discriminating my service animals

By Jojo L |

So, after a busy day at times square with my fellow we decided to go to Applebee's to eat. i had a service animal with me for my health issues and due to my forgetfulness i left his cert at home. I didn't feel welcome i felted outcast. Besides that, the table was dirty with some type of liquid and waitress clean it with a napkin. But we look past that due to the waitress was kind. But i couldn't stay due to the black guy in white shirt looks like the assistant manager accusing false accusation and discrimination. We decided to leave and take our money else where

Fantastic

By dean y |

Excellent service and lovely food would recommend to anyone as long as they're not looking for a romantic candlelit dinner

Ok, but take your own cushions šŸ˜‚

By David B |

Food was ok but that’s comparing it to the rubbish on the opposite side of the road. Now the furnishings is another thing… shocking Ripped bench seats, broken springs hanging out or none existent, graffiti on partitions no comfort whatsoever If I was a franchise manager I’d be having a word with the site manager as surely this is not a standard they would adhere to

Good Meals At Times Square

By Jim G |

We selected Applebee’s on Times Square for our final meal in New York. We enjoyed a typical Applebee’s experience, this one with a great view of the Square. Our server, Michelle, went out of her way to answer our questions and make our visit pleasant. She succeeded. We are glad we choose this Applebee’s.

We go here for the mash potatoes

By D G |

My daughters are in their late teens and choose here over all other options because the mash potatoes are so good!!! Lots of choice in the Time Square area but all very busy, we were seated here in less than a minute and served really quickly. Reasonable choice on their menu and food as good as a lot of the other establishments in their location who they’re competing with for your custom but possibly a little cheaper here to what I paid in other Time Square restaurants in our visit - worth a look!

Awful worst in NYC

By Brads1972 |

Avoid this place! Ate here regularly in the past when staying at the Hilton, ohh how it has gone down! Everything was terrible, the service, the food the attitude of the waiter and then they come along and count the tip and tried to bully me into paying 18% tip! Be warned the 18% tip added to the check is optional. This added on tip is probably why none of the staff give a hoot about the customers or the food. They weren’t getting it from me but kept demanding I pay the bill, don’t be fooled and don’t encourage this shoddy service by paying the crooks!

Great service

By Sette S |

Our server "sette" was amazing very friendly young man..the southwest chicken bowl was awesome šŸ‘Œ great place

Great place to eat

By Cliff J |

This a great place to eat the staff are friendly the food is good quality. Some may say it’s expensive but then you are in New York near Times Square Would we recommend Applebees yes would we eat there again yes we would

Great food - Average service

By BEAMER1998 |

Food was great - Seating was quick - service was so so. Not sure if our server was spread too thin with tables. Overall we would come back and give it another chance

Absolutely amazing food !

Absolutely amazing food ! The best we had in New York!! Highly recommend. Staff are so friendly and helpful will revisit when we go back to New York

New year's eve at Applebee's a disaster! Be aware. Scam alert.

By Johana D |

Hi there! I just wanted to share this awful experience with you. I was scammed, please do not fall in this trick. Unfortunately, I spent my new year's eve 2024 at Applebee's 42nd st. As you should know this is a huge event in New York, lots of people expecting for the count down, ball drop etc, the dream of many. Before I purchased these tickets I asked like 20 times. Am I going to be able to watch the ball drop? The guy on the phone, the servers even the manager at the restaurant said yes, you will have clear view, we will scort you and you will be able to see it. Lies. Those guys lied to me repeatedly, this is a big scam. False advertisement. How can you possibly keep doing this to people and get away with it?. Do they know how hard anyone works to collect 2.000 usd? Do they know how painful it is to lose 2.000 in a second for an experience that is not worth it at all? I wasted more than 2k usd for a simple regular buffet dinner, watered drinks, awful service, and at the end, all that mattered for me was the view that I didn'tget neither. Even if I didn't get to have dinner I just wanted to have a good view. Shameful. I didn't have clear view, I have no view at all I didn't even see the ball, no one escorted me to nowhere as promised, I don't think this is fair. This is one in a lifetime experience, you flight all the way to NY on New year's eve just to see the ball drop, the count to 0, feel the emotions and have a great time on the new year's event. I had nothing of it and I paid more than 2.000. I regret it all. Please check the pics attached. Do you really think that this is worth 2k? I do not wish this to anyone, I am so disappointed with the whole thing. These guys have a tourist trap and they know it. On top of that, I am requesting a refund and they keep saying that I got everything as promised. They know that they are lying the only thing I hope you guys NEVER go there at least not on New Year's. This was completely outrageous and dishonest.

Very rude staff, they couldn't wait to clear the table, food was normal 4 burgers and 4 Pepsis 140 dollars

By Lidia |

Very rude staff, they couldn't wait to clear the table, 140 dollars for 4 burgers and 4 Pepsis, good burgers but everything else to forget

Good Food

By aj78002018 |

Good healthy food. Good value for money. Nice ambience. Service is bit slow but ok. Overall nice place for lunch and dinner.

Fast service and delicious food

By Lex W |

The food and drinks were delicious! The atmosphere was a little dead by that could’ve been the time of day, being around 7pm. The service was quick :) If the background music is going to be loud then the servers need to speak louder as it was often difficult to hear what our server was saying. Around $100 for two cocktails and two mains

Lovely food. Service was terrible

By Windy0309 |

Lovely food. Service was terrible though. The young girl at the counter had serious attitude and was more interested in colouring. Our meal was lovely though. 1000’s of calories I imagine but very tasty!

Applebee’s

By scorpioLondon |

Restaurant is good location and size, staff are really friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and really well price the Milkshakes are amazing. You get so much food you don’t need a dessert really well priced too.

Great tasty food

By ozzypud |

Visited twice for breakfast during our stay in New York food was good and plentiful kept us going all day. Staff nice and friendly. The coffee was very good and topped up throughout our visit. Reasonably priced. Well worth a visit would recommend

True America

By Stefano R |

Applebee's is one of the large chains that, in my opinion, best expresses the spirit of the average American restaurant customer, here in a Manhattan version. Standard menu, hasty yet friendly service, some orders get lost, noisy neighbors and birthday songs sung at the tables. Dirtier and more expensive than chain restaurants found in smaller cities, but you know, we're in Manhattan. For lovers of sociological experiences and good food.

Bad experience for breakfast

By Bo Larsen |

Arriving at Applebee's you notice that it is not clean. Windows, floors, tables were all dirty. The service was not very attending. The food arrived cold. We got it heated, but when you reheat it in a microwave your eggs turn hard. And your bacon dark brown and hard. Too bad because the quality of the food was basicly okay.

The good service ups the ratings

By coconutugly |

Packed one Nov night. We waited for about 10mins, but the service after that was very good. Good enough burgers, nothing gourmet but it’ll do. Milkshakes are rubbish but the lemonades are brill. Lots of fun ambience. I’d revisit

DON'T EAT AT APPLEBEE'S.....

By Tony P |

This is the worst place in NY to eat in my opinion. We paid 57 dollars for a terrible breakfast. I refused to pay the gratuity. The orange juice was so weak that it felt like it had come out of an un shaken carton. The toasted sandwich was like it had been cooked the day before. The side of potatoes was just as terrible. Just walk a couple of blocks to Westway Diner 614 9th Ave, New York, NY 10036. So much better! You won't regret it.

Not worth the time

By Auntie-Christy |

The value was good but the service sadly was very lacking. We waited forever to even put a drink order in. When the waitress came she was super flustered and seemed like she was in a rush, and was confused about the iPad. Really if she just took a moment to breathe, it probably would have been a lot better. She had on super long fake nails too. I'm all for fake nails (my mom used to love them), but she could barely type on the iPad with them and it took longer for her to take the order because she had to keep moving it so she could type properly. Really I'd have given it a lower rating, and the only reason I gave it 3 stars is because she was apologetic about the wait. Our order went well and things were fine, but a table near us had an issue with their bill and I can understand why. The value was good for a sir down dinner in the middle of the hustle and bustle but be prepared to wait, and not have the best service.

Unlike the Applebee’s at home….

By anamargaritamoriel |

Visited with my 5 year old son. Was told there were no food or drink specials even though there were specials and I inquired about them. For the price I paid, I would have rather had much better food at the restaurants I researched beforehand… I just decided to stick to the familiar, but it’s not worth it I would recommend you explore… even a 3.5 rated restaurant was much much better…

APPLEBEES:::BIGEST WASTE TIME & MONEY

By TennisEarl |

Mixed drinks were weak, watery, sickenly sweet!! Mozzarella cheese sticks tasted like taken out of freezer. Boneless wings were overly breaded with minimal, barely edible, DONT BOTHER DUNT BOTHER DONT BOTHER! The BIGGEST WASTE .. They should be closed!!!Worst Applebees I’ve ever been to, Biggest waste!!

Go for breakfast

By TillyMintCake |

Good range of breakfast/brunch options, nicely cooked, quickly and pleasantly served. A generous Mimosa is always gratefully received! Applebee's is good value, especially for families, where everyone will find something they want to eat on the menu.

I know it’s NY but very expensive for what it is. McDonald’s would have been just as enjoyable.

By skiesrblue |

Server was fine, albeit a bit busy. Took ages to get a seat, front desk were rude. Expensive burger and 18% service charge. Not sure the burger was worth $26.

Lovely staff

By linto m |

Great place at Times Sqaure. Staff are very helpful. Helped my parents who doesn’t speak English that well. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to New York.

Dis honesty re tip

By Sue S |

The food was a bit stodgy, server was joyful but when it came to the bill and splitting it with the other family, they took, 2 lots of the full tip and as we didn’t know the tip was being taken, as this was only suggested we also left a bigger tip too, be careful, defo won’t go there again due to the dishonesty !’

Avoid Applebees

By AndStew |

205 West 50th. Please avoid, we ate tonight and had one of the worst experiences in the US. The food came cold, not as advertised and the service was absolutely awful, we had to chase for every little thing and had to wait an eternity between items. We will be taking our custom elsewhere in the future… 😩😩

Utter Garbage

By Joliet Jake |

One star is very flattering for Appleby’s Times Square. Food took too long to arrive, was cold and some of it was missing. Coffee came after the food was eventually delivered, who does that? I might be a whinging Brit, but I would rather eat dog turd than visit this restaurant again. I wasn’t as though it was a small service, there were eight of us, and the bill stretched into a couple of hundred dollars. Staff were moaning that no one was leaving tips, wonder why? Answer is because your service is shocking. Avoid at all costs.

Quite nice

By Julie M |

Had burgers here - one beef, one chicken. Food was good and hot, service good and attentive. Seemed clean. Not a bad price either. Recommended.

Decent food

By Crissy K |

It was the same Applebees food with a hefty price tag. We knew that going in. It was still fun to sit upstairs and look out at Broadway. Our server was training a new guy and both were very friendly.

Not for us

By Hannah D |

Went here as we had heard about it so much via American Social Media so wanted to try it out. No specials apparently, service was rubbish compared to all the other places we ate, food came out in 4 minutes so presume all microwaved. 18% tip added to bill, we took it off and gave less cash

Nice drink and snacks

By Katy |

We went in for drinks and we ended up buying food as it smelt delicious, the quesadillas are to die for very tasty . They make nice cocktails too . Clean place and staff very friendly.

Due to COVID-19 we know that there are precautions that need to be taken....We had 10 family members there today, we were split up, 5 of our group were children. My daughter was screamed at by a waitress named Jamie that because of Covid this is the way it’s going to be she makes $2.13 a hour and this was above her pay grade. We were trying to figure out if this was going to work and split children up for supervision. She proceeded to go to next table and laugh and tell them that she was tired of people like us coming in the restaurant. Daughter asked for Manager he came over smelling like alcohol ,by the way, and did nothing no apology what so ever but gave us another waitress which I think her name was Allie who was great she was on eggshells at first and then when she seen we were cool with her I think she eased her nerves.

Rude staff - don’t bother visiting!!

By Madiya G |

Rude staff awful food! We came here for lunch and the minute we arrived the waitress serving us was rude just put the menus on the table and walked away without even saying anything further. We ordered drinks one drink was late. Then ordered food. Food was basic to say the least and tasted like the fries were left out for hours and reheated. We were unhappy with our meals and wanted the bill to leave. We asked 4 different staff members for the bill and they all ignored us and then one of the men was so rude and put his index finger in my face and said wait!!! This in itself made us even more wound up as everyone was just walking away from us. We went to walk downstairs and complain then our waitress came and then we paid up left no tip obviously as it was horrendous service and food. Do not come here!!!

Delicious breakfast

By chelseaangel2016 |

Ate here earlier this week. Fantastic tasty food and lots of it. I had a cheese and ham omelette with toast and potatoes. It was really good. Coffee was plentiful. We ate here again the following day! A must when you visit New York.

Not good

By NorthWalesTraveller |

I guess all I need to say really is that as a vegetarian, I ordered the vegetarian burger.....I waited ages for it to arrive and when it did, it was a meat burger with bacon on the top ??????? Who does that ??

It’s OK.

By KGray70 |

We had breakfast. Service not great, although once we made a nuisance of ourselves, the food came through quite quickly. Staff were polite and although busy didn’t need to book. A little overpriced, but NYC is in general we’ve found.

Very bad welcome but good food & service

By Peter W |

We had an early dinner there for the first time in 4 years, our last trip to the US. * Very bad welcome Upon arrival, we spoke to Natalia, the staff member supposed to welcome and seat customers in the best way possible. However, as we declined Natalia’s suggestion to go up, but rather preferred to be seated on the ground floor, she seemed extremely annoyed and she also told her colleague about our apparently annoying decision in spanish ! We really do not understand why and we humbly think that Natalia should not be working in the service industry. I also told her that this was really not done towards customers, both in english and spanish. * Good food We both ordered sirloin with garlic mashed & fresh broccoli, mine also had shrimp. Both tasted fine, just as we remembered. As dessert, we shared the ā€œsizzling pecan butter blondieā€ which was also good. * Good service Hamidou was our waiter and he did a great job. We therefor showed our sincere appreciation. We can recommend for the food and the service but certainly not for staff member Natalia.

FAMILY VISIT

By Loander M |

Went here with the family and it was great went to radio shack then saw it . Plus the food was lovely. Would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting.

Awful Service

By BeaglesC |

Been many times before and was always impressed when visiting New York and Time Square and this experience was the worst ever. The staff did not seem interested being there our waiter was so uninterested he just about managed take our order, the food took ages to arrive with only a handful of tables occupied, no check back on the food which was standard fair. Not once did a member of staff offer us any more drinks or even top up of our coffee. When the bill was given to us I tried to give some feed back which fell on deaf ears with poor excuses why the service was so bad. The biggest insult was the 18% service charge was added to the bill which I asked to be removed, being in the service profession myself I understand that tips are a big part of your wage but you have to do some work and interaction with your customers not completely ignore them. Avoid with all cost.

Avoid Avoid Avoid. Terrible Food & Very Unclean

By William L |

Avoid Avoid Avoid. This is not a place you want to eat. It’s filthy, the food is horrendous and I genuinely feel sorry for the poor waiting staff that have to work there. The Restrooms are disgusting, really very dirty. The Tables, filthy. The Food, Over Cooked and Re-Heated. This review is brutal but it’s only to save another family the experience we had today. Take My Word For It and Save Yourselves A Disappointment.

Vexatious treatment

By Maria Paulina G |

Today Wednesday, September 4th we wanted to have dinner at the Applebees place in Times Square , we arrived around 7 pm with my family (4 adult women, one of them 6 months pregnant) and two babies 1 year 8 months and 1 year 7 months , wanting to sit together at a table , the waitress named Adriana approached us very poorly and aggressively and rudely to tell us that the table we could not occupy, although it was free, so we decided then to occupy 2 tables for 4 , which said person flatly and without explanation, despite the fact that the place was practically empty and the babies very tired and hungry. Faced with this negligence we had to climb with the cars and babies to the second floor to finally be able to sit . The truth is that nobody got to attend to us so finally and before the cries of the very tired babies , I requested a waiter to be able to heat the food of the little ones who by now were quite tired . The truth and to my astonishment this answered me in a very bad way that I should wait for another waiter to attend to me ..... The truth a very unpleasant situation and honestly never before lived, truly made us feel discriminated .. finally we left the premises only with one sorry from the manager in charge of the premises .... Vexatious treatment and customers who never set foot in their premises again and who will be the worst advertising of the premises ....

Poor food preparation. Smaller amount. Lesser quality than other visited Applebee's locations. Will not return. Drinks also bad quality and simple.

Lunch

By B2893UBjackc |

Great place for Awesome food I highly recommend this place @ The Applebee's on Virginia Beach BLVD. We had the chicken wonton tacos. They were out of this world.

Awful just awful

By jomca |

Probably the worst Applebee’s I’ve ever been in. I should’ve walked out as soon as we walked In. Dirty shabby sticky carpets, run down decor, place was empty when we visited think everyone else knew what we didn’t. The service was awful…. Waitress clearly hadn’t waited tables before…. Food very poor, poor presentation, poor taste…. All in all just awful. Plus very expensive for what you get especially in New York. Our most expensive and worst meal while we were there. Do yourself a favour and don’t visit this Applebee’s there’s loads of other places near by.

Disappointing

By gillhammond |

I visited here with my daughter as it was getting late .... food was overpriced and underwhelming Ā£18 dollars for chicken and chips that looked exactly like a KFC on a plate daughters pasta looked slightly better and Ā£11 dollars for a g&t ā˜¹ļø maybe we just ordered the wrong things but would definitely not return.

Awful. Just avoid. Trust me, avoid!

By Mark M |

I am trying to be nice here, so rather than ranting at a faceless organisation, I will give my summary below. Staff - indifferent/incompetent/idiotic Food - cold/tasteless/bland/overpriced Ambiance- none Experience - awful Summary Ordered food - sent it all back as it was STONE cold. Not like warm, cold as out of the fridge cold. This is after a 45 minute wait. They redid it. It was the same. We were starving, so we stupidly ate it. They knocked 50%off the bill. They were not Covid friendly - no hand sanitiser/masks

Disappointed

By DeeJaneC |

Having visited a different branch of Applebees a couple of days before and really enjoyed it we came to this restaurant expecting the same standard but sadly we were met with a slow and abrupt service and were then told that what we wanted from the menu wasn’t available. Disappointed, especially after previously being impressed.

Food Average, Excellent Staff

By SharonM2411 |

We were excited to try Applebee's in New York. Food was average to say the least. Joanna S was our server (the only server it looked like) and deserves a medal, she was running about trying to keep all the customers happy and she still had a smile on her face...well done Joanna, poor show by Applebee's!! Where is Undercover Boss when u need them!

The place is full even at late afternoon

By Euiza |

We found that the place is full even at late afternoon. It is full of tourists who are paying top dollars to be eating at TTS. The waiters and cook treat tourists with little respect. Food, awful.

Amazing food

By maddowen_28 |

We went back like 5 times in the 2 weeks we were in New York. The food is just so good, our absolute favourite was the spicy buffalo boneless wings I could eat them all day. Pretty good price, could be super cheap if you make it. Sometimes just sharing a few appetisers was enough for us. The service was great too! And super handy machines to pay card right at the table, no need for a bill.

Very delicious

By Persian Gulf |

Despite 5 people and no reservation yet got a table, 5 different dishes, everyone was very satisfied Especially the Spare Ribs were hammer, so delicious and tasteful, we go there again before we leave New York

Garbage service

By Andy |

We have just finished eating at Applebee's. Rubbish service, 1 meal never even arrived and they all looked like they couldn't care less. Bill came with 18% gratuity on it, how about bring all the food out at once, smile a bit during the service and if you get something wrong just apologise and offer your customer a little something back. As tourists we will not be returning....ever

Breakfast

By Claire R |

We had awful service. I was excited to visit as it was my first trip to nyc, however they made us feel like an inconvenience. I asked where the bathroom was and they didnt answer and walked away. They took the plates away while people were still eating and we had an issue with our table being uneven. They didnt really help or care. I was extremely disappointed and wouldnt return.

Applebee's in time square.

By Zachary L |

I can’t even begin to describe how bad the service was. We were seated quickly, which was the only positive part of the entire experience, but after that, things went downhill fast. Our waitress completely ignored us – we had to keep asking for water like it was a huge inconvenience to her. And when we did get her attention, she was downright rude. After we finally finished our meal, we sat there waiting for over 20 minutes just to get our bill. No apology, no explanation, just terrible service all around. It’s honestly beyond frustrating to pay for a meal and feel completely disrespected like this. Not coming back.

Nice experience.

By Maria D |

Nice food. We were full, but it was not a special experience. We would have liked to have chicken and waffles, but unfortunately we couldn't that day.

Poorly cooked food and poor quality produce

By Mitch Youngman |

Do not visit. This is just mass produced fast breakfast food that is in all honesty crap. That incudes the bitter tasting coffee and fruit that is past its sell by date.

Really Nice Food

By lucy j |

We were shattered and chose here as it was close with low expectations! We were wrong!! The food and service was lovely nice menu with plentiful variety of dishes...Swiss burger was the best ive had...lovely evening great staff.

Good food

By stephens473 |

Very quirky restaurant , nicely decorated for the holiday season The restaurant was very busy but we didn't have to wait long for our food. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and quite large portions. We were surprised at the cost of the meal compared to other restaurants we visited during our 5 day stay, the food is delicious but very overpriced.

Lovely food

By Connienixn |

Lovely food and great service what more could you ask for. Our server was very friendly and nice to the children. Would definitely return again.

So so

By Nikki A |

Food just tastes microwaved and the drinks seem like they aren’t made with fresh ingredients. I go for late night apps, that’s about it.

New Year's Eve Must!

By Jenny G |

Most incredible time for $500pp. New Year's Eve included all you can eat buffet, all you can drink, party favors, live DJ who played requests, outstanding attentive servers, a great quality photo, and a fantastic view of the Ball Drop at midnight. Don't wait in line outside the venue to get in at 7:00pm, go inside the mall, up the escalator and wait inside for the doors to open at 7:00. Faster entrance, environmentally protected, and more time to party!

smelled like a sewer

By 123lbd |

seated quickly in a corner booth. we immediately smelled something awful - i checked the floor and our shoes to make sure we hadn't stepped in anything... the smell was coming from the wall vent. absolutely gross - the waitress said she didn't smell it and could seat us at a different table but we had to wait 15 minutes. we left and went to mcdonalds instead and had a lovely lunch. how anyone can sit in there while it smelled like poop is mysterious!

Disappointing

By Helen G |

We wanted to see experience a New York diner and my girls liked the look of Applebee’s. The staff are not very welcoming on your arrival. We had to sit and wait for a table which was fine as it was 6pm. The menu was very poor for my daughter and I who are gluten free. When the Food came my burger was cold, it was very disappointing. Waitress seemed annoyed we didn’t want pudding and the bill told us how much to tip! If I had been in the UK I wouldn’t have tipped!!!

Disappointing Experience – Pressured to Pay Unwanted Tip

By Ricardo V |

I visited the Applebee’s at Times Square (42nd Street) on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, around 3:56 PM. The service was average, but what truly ruined the experience was the way I was pressured into paying a tip. The bill showed two totals — one for $31.02 (without tip), and one for $36.15 with a suggested tip of $5.13. I made it clear I wanted to pay only the base amount, but the waitress, Anifa K., refused to accept it. She insisted I had to pay the higher amount, even though the tip was not marked as mandatory. As someone who understands that tipping in the U.S. is optional unless stated otherwise, I felt uncomfortable and misled. No customer should be pressured to pay more than the actual total, especially when it’s clearly labeled as a suggestion. I hope the management addresses this, as it reflects poorly on an otherwise reputable brand. I do not recommend this location, especially to tourists who may not be aware of tipping practices in the U.S.

Waiter Man Please Read

By matt231193 |

Hi, I rarely leave a trip advisor but this place certainly deserves one. Especially for one special staff member (you know who you are buddy!) Me and my future wife to be have been on the world cruise which docked in New York today. (No we aren’t rich we have only been on the boat for a few weeks). Anyway that’s beside the point. We are both from Britain and had a full on day in New York doing all the obvious tourist things. We felt shattered towards the end of the day and were walking along Times Square when we noticed ā€˜Applebees’. We had already eaten a superb meal in China town so just wanted to stop off for a drink in the well known chain. We read on the window that it was the worlds largest Applebees and delved inside for what delights laid within (and oh my didn’t my special staff member make it a delight). From never stepping foot in this chain in our lives we were guided to our seats in a half-ish empty restaurant. We proceeded to sit down and put our bags in order (full day in New York remember). Our waiter gave us our menus and gave us sometime to peruse the delicacies offered. After an easy 5 seconds we knew all we wanted was drinks. And told our waiter this. He took the menus with haste and speed only equalled to formula one racing car (so efficient for a full service). After ordering 2 drinks (one mango smoothie and mango lemonade). We sat waiting. Admiring the gorgeous atmosphere with classical piano and gentle viola playing in the background. (Service at its fullest). Around precisely 15 minutes passed by and we were greeted by our drinks. Stunning behaviour. Mango smoothie ready for my consumption (must of been a wait because of getting the mangos off the tree and squeezing them). Then my fiancĆØs drink arrives a STRAWBERRY LEMONADE. Oh my goodness, New York really does have magical powers it even transforms drinks, who knew? Amazed by our waiters super magical powers of getting 2 non alcoholic drink orders wrong we transfixed our gazes upon our drinking vessels and feasted. Sadly time was up upon our half hour trip to this fine establishment (I will dream of you waiter man). So the time came for the paper devil we all dread, the bill. Enthused with our now fruity liquid filling, we made sure to pay the full bill of ($17.94). Please bare in mind we enjoyed the most beautiful meal in China town for ($38) and left them a lovely tip for amazing service. As we started to pack all our antiquities away after the days toil. Our waiter appeared as if by magic and asked if we had paid. To which we replied yes my good sir, via the app my squire. He then baffled us beyond belief and proceeded to ask us for 18% of the bill for his tip. I mean for sheer magical performance of the drinks I nearly gave the guy 100% of the bill and went back to his to cook him dinner. But I didn’t. I laughed and said no sorry not for 2 drinks but the magic was good. This is his exact reply… ā€˜let me just wipe this table down and give you the full service’. With added sass. I was incensed. Upset that I upset my friendly waiter man. Because after all 2 drinks, getting them wrong, 15 minute wait in a half empty restaurant is for sure worth a tip. But my friend your sass, rudeness, and absolute disregard for your job is no match for my written note to you. Justice was served. And I hope you know you’ll be the reason we never step foot in a Applebees again. 1 STAR! (Note picture attached and receipt)

Good casual food at Times Square

By erika2205 |

Lovely casual dinner with extremely massive portions (don't even think about having a starter AND a main here). Super lovely service with a fun, child friendly waiter. Cocktails were fun and delicious too.

Nice

By tonyholmes61 |

Food was good & served in a very busy restaurant The food was in large portions so you get a lot of food Tasted great Will return

Service

By Matt C |

We have been in New York for a couple of days and have eaten at several different restaurants. This was the best so far. Our waitresses was attentive but not over friendly. The food was delicious and came quickly and nothing was to much for the staff

Food ok but nothing superb near Times Square

By Lilian D |

We had lunch at Applebee’s and it was ok. The staff took a while to take our order. The food was ok, but the steak was hard. The price was Applebee’s standard, but the food could be better.

Great food and service

By Jpmdo |

Had lovely meal and cocktail , would highly reccommend. Server was very nice and efficient. We were sat upstairs at window

Overpriced and really not very good food

By Flo Powell |

We made the mistake of coming here for breakfast and paid $70 (Inc tip) for avocado on toast which came with a thin scraping of avocado on lightly toasted bread with fried eggs and (inexplicably) salad with dressing. It was very average with a very high price tag. If you want a good breakfast near Times Square go to the Times Square Diner instead - much nicer and much cheaper.

Good for breakfasts!

By Pablo L |

We decided to go there for breakfast - safe shot! Our 4 kids shared 2 orders of pancakes, so imagine the size of it!

We’ll be back!

By dramaguys |

Great happy hour! Appies we’re delicious and drinks were good. Only issue is happy hour is only available at the bar and that’s very limited space. The bar keeps were attentive and kept the good and drinks coming.

Applebee's, 42nd street New York City 11/2019

By blueskies15-10 |

ran the New York City Marathon and was here by myself and had a salad with chicken and greens, was quite a big portion, took a little time to get it, but food was very good, a little pricy, but this is New York City, can recommend this place

Ok ish

By Nicolaandson |

Food amazing ... Shame about the service and filthy state of toilets! French toast šŸ‘ŒšŸ½ Wings šŸ‘ŒšŸ½ Pasta šŸ‘ŒšŸ½ Worth a visit if you’re with a group as they have so many options on the menue

Pretty good

By F1_FanScotland |

Family lunch @ kids request. Much better than expected! Food was good, kids menu easily accessible (not common in nyc), prices were reasonable for nyc and service wasnt rushed. Negatives - server wasnt really interested and lighting is dingy (dark). Get traditional american waiters / waitresses and turn up the lights and this would have be 5*

Delicious lunch

By June ƅ |

We decided to stop and have lunch at Applebee's at W42st. We had three types on menues, and tasted each others. The shrimps, chicken and pasta was prepared with utter perfection. Truely delightfull meals. Make sure you stop at Applebee's for lunch or dinner.

Restaurant was Filthy!!!

By HickoryFoodie |

After arriving & receiving our food (which tasted good), we visited the restrooms. We took the elevator and noticed how dirty it was which lead to noticing the rest of the restaurant and how nasty it was. Some areas actually smelled like vomit. I understand how busy theses places are with the amount of volume they have but this filth didn’t happen recently-it’s been there a long time! And, someone had a DOG in the restaurant that kept barking throughout Dinner!! The waitress never came back to check on us until it was time for the check to be paid but then she had the nerve to highlight the gratuity section of the check. Never going back there again.

Basic Food, Great Staff But Bad Toilets

By The Trusty Trip Gal! |

On our first night we decided to go to Applebees because I remember how nice is was last time I came to America! I opened the menu and was a bit disappointed as I felt there wasn’t much choice. I ordered chicken tenders and they were nice but very basic. The meal came to just over $90 which I thought it was quite expensive for what we had had. We came back a couple of nights later for just drinks in the bar. The drinks are lovely, especially the cocktails! But my partner went to the toilet when we got there and there was an extremely bad smell. Later he went again and he looked in another cubicle and there was vomit on the toilet. I know this isn’t the staffs fault but it shouldn’t be left there for people who are eating and drinking to smell and see. I did enjoy my meal and the staff were lovely.

Meh

By t3quil4 |

We told the hostess it was only for drinks and she said the bar was full and we could sit in the restaurant instead. When the server came we said we were having only drinks and he said we could go in the bar area, he was really nice. We moved to the bar area and ot was almost empty! Sat down and waited forever to get service. Table next to us that arrived after, was greeted and served before. At least happy hour prices are great. But even the second round took a while to happen. Don't think I'll go back

Apple bees in manhattan

By Ronald C |

It was a good experience and the food was good and everything and there was also a server called Anahis and she is very nice and good at her job.

Go elsewhere

By dgregg69 |

Rudest staff I encountered in my whole time in New York , menus thrown onto a dirty table , order taken and food arrived red hot in minutes so obviously microwaved , it was disgusting and we left it . Paid the bill then asked for 18% tip which I refused , waiter got in my face and I told him to .. off . Not paying for bad food and service , go elsewhere this chain is a disgrace

Not the Best

By Bezza23 |

The food was not the best, and when we finished our main course we were asked if we wanted the check - mmmm maybe we wanted dessert or another drink???? Went down the road to the bakery shop and bought a cake there - not one of our best diining experiences

Fantastic breakfast!

By Colin |

We visited most mornings for breakfast on our week stay. A good varied menu, with great food! The farm fresh platter is excellent and great coffee! The service is also great with friendly staff (which can be a bit hit and miss in NY!)

Don't go

By Amanda H |

I have to say, being in New York nearly a week the meal from here had to be the worst,it lacked flavour and taste, not very impressed.

Flee this restaurant

By David C |

Just now New THANKS GIVING MEAL! The worst meal of my life in a restaurant, turkey fillets (maybe) cooked in water with green beans, puree and a third unidentified filling, nothing cooked, just cooked, in water!! Pie share misidentified, pumpkin may be (the waiter told us Apple pie, but, no) accidentally broken in all plates (plastic) and tasteless... What do you say? I didn't think it was possible in a restaurant, anywhere in the world.... No love or respect for the guest in this house. What an amazing experience!!

Food took forever, It was okay but not worth the price.

By Catie D |

It took forever for our order to be taken. Then both the drinks and the meals took ages to get to us. It was also rather bland. The waitress seemed nice enough but the slow service kinda ruined our experience. There was also sick or spilt food on the stair lift

There are much better options

By Ana Cristina |

The service was bad. Just a waiter to serve many tables. They forgot our request and when we questioned, they did it in a hurry. The rib is very tasty, but very small. We ordered a chicken and came very little. We left the restaurant hungry and had to eat pizza on the street. The service was so bad that not even tray charged us. Do not recommend and would not come back.

Nice little restaurant

By ClƩmence B |

A good restaurant where we tasted Mac And Cheese for the first time in our lives. Everything was good, but a little expensive for what it is!

Poor facilities

By gillian h |

Went there with my son for dinner tonight. Restaurant was half empty so was seated very quickly, waitress pleasant ordered quickly. Took an hour for first course to arrive then made the mistake of ordering a sweet which took 45 minutes to arrive. Portions small. There are two ā€˜single toilets’ for the he whole restaurant which staff use too that were permanently engaged with queues outside for almost the whole of the meal. Both me and my son needed to use the facilities so had to eat with one eye on the restroom door to see if it would become available. Why we were there a male staff member went in and took all of 20 seconds to wee and wash his hands which must be a record, either that or he didn’t wash. My son finished his meal before me, his plate was whipped away why I was still eating mine and both our serviettes were used to wipe his side of the table. Had to ask for another. Food ok but not fantastic and not worth the price.Won’t be going back.

OK for a meal on Times Square

By Janna64 |

We had dinner here. It is just a chain restaurant so is just like other Applebees but the prices are very high, I suppose that is due to the location. The food was ok and the service was ok and it was nice to be right in middle of New York and enjoy Times Square

Yuck

By DianBa |

The food does not have a good flavour. Not sure why customer's keep going back. I was starving when I went anf could not eat the shrimp or the boneless wings.

Hamidou

By Philip C |

Normally we wouldn't review a chain restaurant unless it was a terrible experience. In this case, we had a remarkably fine meal in the heart of New York City with exceptional service provided by our server, Hamidou, who treated our family of five including grandkids, aged five and seven, as if he had invited us to dinner. And the food was good too!

Worth a visit

By Linda S |

We both had Bacon & Cheese Burgers - very tasty and reasonable for the location right next to Times Square. Very good service, waitress very attentive, and plenty of seating especially upstairs. Clean restrooms.

Loved it!

By Emma Brennan |

Ate breakfast here most mornings while on holiday and have to say, their pancakes are AMAZING!! Staff were lovely too, very friendly and polite and costs were very reasonable too

Awasome

By Anahis Y |

I had a nice experience here at Applebee’s 42street, Food was really delicious And the drinks really refreshment. Great restaurant

Flavoursome and Fast.

By Maggid62 |

205 W 50th St branch is ideally located for Broadway. We were late for our show so were impressed by how amenable the staff were to advising us on what to have that could be served quickly. Barbecue ribs and Tacos filled a hole in a delicious way. Perfect pre-show snacking.

Worst ever

By Henrik S |

Bad experience, Meat bad coleslaw frosen. Worst food we got in New York so far. My god so bad. Dont go there. Even the manager didn’t care.

Very poor food … Cold, dry food…. Manager and waiter apologetic and professional however

By dean k |

Been here before and always had great experience even if food not always amazing This time will be the last…. Ordered sirloin steak x2, fri s, broccoli and onion rings …. Food arrived looking sad and withered … the fries were wet and soft and cold and the broccoli was dry and very cold… really looked terrible. Waiter did ask to replace mine as partner had started to eat his steak… I explained then I would be eating alone when mine comes and so declined. Manager was very professional and apologised. He wouldn’t touch the food to see if was cold saying he didn’t want to(!) which I understand but he took time with us and did refund the steak dishes … so ended up just eating onion rings and drinking soft drinks !!! Maybe manager should think about the entire experience rather than refunding specific dishes. We would t have walked in to buy a coke and onion rings!!! Shame but won’t go again so maybe they don’t care . Feel was fault of kitchen and not waiter nor manager. They are mass producing and leaving food out obviously and it’s going cold

Great food and very clean restrooms

By Jessica O |

Lovely tasty food, friendly and helpful staff.Tables are all cleared and wiped down.Cutlery comes in a bag with napkins.Lovely clean restrooms that smell lovely and fresh.Food tasty and filling.

Bland, tasteless breakfast

By neeratraveler |

The Applebee’s in the Time square area is large. I was here for brunch before a matinee. I ordered the omelette with country potatoes. I asked for the omelette to be well done - it was not. Everything was boring, bland and tasteless. I did not come here for a gourmet meal but I did not think that it would be difficult to eat a simple breakfast. Three stars for the pleasant service.

Next door to our hotel. Brilliant.

By Philip S |

We love Applebees, and this one is up to standard. Like everything in America these days, very expensive, but one of the best places we ate. food good, staff good, overall happy.

Good address

By Aljuma |

Very good brasserie, ideal for lunch. Very good burger, friendly staff. We ate in the one at the Jersey Garden shopping center.

Did not get what I ordered, staff initially failed to correct their mistake.

By David P |

Visited first week in December 2019. Very busy with a ten minute wait to be seated. No one told us of the automated ordering system from the iPad on the table, fortunately I had a teenager present who sorted that out. Breakfast arrived with pancakes instead of toast, pointed out to waiter, said he would fix it, never did. It took another waiter asking if all was ok some ten minutes later to correct the order by which time the rest of the breakfast was cold. In the meantime my wife had been given a fork to eat her yoghurt and described her musli As the worst she has ever had. Daughter enjoyed her meal thus the score not a zero, it could have been.

Day trip to NYC

By Terri R |

We were there the first weekend in December. It was my daughter and I on a day trip to NYC. My daughter loves Applebee's so that's where we went. We were seated right away. Our server was very pleasant. I believe his name was Mamood. We both got chicken sandwiches which were really good, nice and hot when they came out. The reason I am giving this 3 stars was the bathroom was awful. We were on the first floor. I'm not sure what is on the second floor. It is one single bathroom for men and women. It wasn't pretty. My daughter wouldn't use it.

Disappointed

I love Applebee’s in West Palm(Florida). BUT Applebee’s Time Square New York - stay away. They are serving cold food.

Drinks Are Best Here

By SJE99 |

We tried Applebees for the first time and were pleased with the drinks and service but a little disappointed with the quality of the food. While it would rate OK as bar or pub food, it is quite basic in its offerings. One excellent point was that they did not charge us for one of the dishes that was very dry and difficult to eat. We appreciate that and know that the restaurant wants customers to be satisfied. Thank you for that.

Not Quite What It Used To Be

By Michael M |

We called in to this restaurant one night, admittedly a little later than normal, and it was ok but not what we'd seen previously. The food wasn't bad, the service wasn't bad, the atmosphere wasn't bad, but none of these things were at the level of when we last visited New York.

Nice but pricey

By Sommer J |

It was extremely crowded and very expensive, which was to be expected due to the location and it being a weekend.... so I have no complaints. We were greeted and seated immediately, service was fast and efficient, drinks and food was delicious, and staff was friendly even under the pressure of so many ppl to take care of.

Great service but awful food

By Alexandra S |

Genuinely awful food. Was in NYC for 4 nights and we decided to eat here due to how close it was to Times Square. The food was just awful. It felt reheated and over cooked and lacked flavour. Really disappointing. Servie however was excellent - our server was the nicest and most friendly person, a true credit to the store. Would not go again

Disgusting

By Alison J |

Absolutely disgusting. Cold food, reheated in the microwave which was part hot/cold - waiters were miserable - the place itself was run down - we left, they tried to charge us a tip, which we refused!!! Charged us for drinks but we refused to pay for our meals which were inedible!!! Stay away from this place!

Handy and quick service

By SueWolves53 |

We used Applebee's several times for breakfasts while in New York as it was handy to the hotel and we found that the service was friendly and quick. The menu had a good range and enjoyed the omelettes and bacon sandwiches although we could have opted for much bigger meals. The staff were friendly and efficient so we could eat and get out to make the most of our days. On our last day we called in for a lunch before heading for the airport and again found the staff efficent even though it was busy. We opted for a fajita and chips between us which we were glad we did as the fajita was packed with chicken. Definitely somewhere to return to for quick food in a pleasant atmosphere.

Times Square rip-off

By 68berndl |

We visited from Switzerland and know the Applebee`s chain from Orlando and San Francisco Fisherman`s Wharf, which has a great location and friendly staff. I`m aware of the limitations of this chain, but in most cases, we had a good food and drink quality for a reasonable price. So, we were ready for a good 2 for $25 meal and a nice cocktail during happy hour, but it was disappointing to hear that they don`t have any promotions. We get that this location is basically in the heart of Times Square filled with tourists, but expected a big chain like Applebee's to have some consistency in their menu items. They had no meal deals that other Applebee's were advertising. The staff had this question before and reacted annoyed about our question with a look: `Another stupid tourist`. The food was compared with the promotions relative expensive; the quality was ok. We were quite surprised when we tried two days later the Applebee`s at 205 West 50th Street and they had all the promotions we know from San Francisco and Orlando.

Not vegetarian friendly

By Jeanna S |

The menu choice is not great but the biggest issue was giving a vegetarian chicken. I ordered the tomato and basil soup and got chicken tomato and basil soup. No where on the menu or by the wait staff did we get told there was meat in it. We still had to pay for uneaten soup

NYC holiday

By Kerry B |

Well, what can I say about Applebee's? Absolutely fantastic service...we went one evening and were so impressed we decided to go for breakfast everyday of our visit...I just wish we had an Applebee's where I live with....Jason..I hope I remembered his name correctly...what an absolute star, "I got you" was his catchphrase and nothing was too much trouble. The food fantastic and a warm friendly welcome is guaranteed!

Dinner was good

By Aber Hallo |

The staf qas very friendly. The drinks and the food came very fast. It was good as allways going to an Applebees. We were on the second floor and the atmosphere was quite and relaxing

Not what I expected

By CleoOscar |

Went for breakfast while staying at the Hilton Times Sq. All good until I turned to my 2 slices of wheat toast. The final half slice, covered by the other slices, had a large patch of green mould on it. I complained and, to be fair to the restaurant, they didn’t charge me for my breakfast and they gave my friends a 15% discount each. Still, I felt rather ill all day. It’s not the kind of thing you need early on a Sunday morning after a sleepless night with jet lag. Won’t be going there again.

Great Americam Franchise Experience

An excellent American franchise experience! The food it very very tasty, and the stuff are nice and welcoming. As I didn't had the whole menu (unfortunately ) I have to recommend the classic combo!

Great service and staff had a good meal. Loved the hot soup, waffle fries and brownie dessert. Best late night dinner option.

Hard to compete after Five Guys

By Sam Sam B |

After tasting the burgers from Five Guys, it’s hard to be impressed by the ones from Applebee’s. The bread is dry, the meat is correct without more, and the whole lacks a little character. It wasn’t bad, but not memorable either. Let’s say that if we have known better, it leaves a taste of ā€œyesā€. For a quick meal it goes, but not if you are looking for a real good burger.
