Best Italian Restaurant!!

By Bradsgirl |

We always come to Arno when we travel to NYC about 6-8 times a year. We’ve brought business associates, our kids, as well as friends. Top notch all the way - food, ambience and service!! A must-do if you want to eat well and get pampered!!

Perfect for a traditional Italian meal

By Gérard G |

You can’t find more traditional, from the floor to the ceiling, from the drinks to the food. You are in an old traditional italien restaurant of New York. And the food is good, tastes Italien-New York, is served by ItalienNew Yorkers. You are not in Italy, but in its New Yorker colony. It feels good and it is so good!

Definitely would come back

By Travelcrazy22 |

We stopped here to as the girls wanted to have a fancy dinner and that’s definitely what we got! The food was amazing and the price point was not over the top, it had the authentic Italian flavour that we had been craving in NYC. The staff was incredible and even accommodated our quirky request for our complimentary bread and butter to be warmed ( the girls are used to places where it’s hot bread out of the oven with soft butter). Our waiter ( I wish we knew his name) was so kind and jovial and have the girls a great experience at the “classy” restaurant that they wanted to eat at. Definitely one I would revisit!!!!

Outstanding Dinner

By Susan F |

This little gem was right down the street from where we stayed. Everything was fabulous from the moment we walked in for our reservation. The service and food was impeccable. You won’t be disappointed at Arno’s!

Exquisite service and better food!!!!!

By Ken D |

It is a joy when you encounter professional wait staff that love what they do, the food they are serving, and the restaurant they work at! And Arno Ristorante was an ABSOLUTE JOY! The staff is phenomenal and only surpassed by the food. Incredibly perfect and a great glass of chardonnay to accompany!

Over Rated Ristorante

By Tim G |

We were in Ney York for one night and wanted to eat at a very good Italian restaurant. This one was recommended to us by our hotel staff member. So we decided to try it. We went without reservations and very early in the evening. We were seated at a table for two. First off the server wanted to sell us Italian bottled water. Both my wife and I were not really hungry so were looking at the entrees. I ordered saltimbocca and my wife a simple plate of spaghetti. The food was okay but not great. The spaghetti plate was good but lacked some of the real Italian character. The saltimbocca was not the best I have ever had. The port was sliced from the pork loin not beaten and fattened. This left the pork tough in places. The taste of the dish was good. I was disappointed in the sever because one he realize this would not be a big-ticket, he hardly came to the table and in general, ignored us for most of the meal. He also was a bit arrogant. Real disappointment here! Not sure that I would go back there.

Top notch service and food

Top notch service and food, everything seemed perfect, especially as someone else picked up the bill, which I expect was hefty! A fantastic lunch, made the day!

Classic Italian Food

By Carolyn_and_John_B |

Arno Ristorante is one hectic restaurant! Everything is fast paced. All of the wait staff seem to be in a hurry to serve--not necessarily a bad thing. Although we had one primary server, all of the others pitched into to refill water and wine glasses or to bring the different courses and make sure everything was as we wanted it. We initially thought that we would be rushed through the meal, but things calmed down once we had placed our order. The food is fabulous! We started with good bread then proceeded to a crisp, hot, non-greasy dish of an ample amount of calamari and and the appetizer special of the day, eggplant rolled around a cheese filling and topped with a tomato sauce. Wow! For the main course, we went for veal. One dish was Veal Cardinale, which was almost too pretty to eat, but we forced ourselves. Yum! The other dish was Veal Saltimbocca, with a lovely sage character. The bread was important to soak up all the flavorful sauces. Tiramisu and crème brûlée followed. Delicious! Considering the location, this is clearly a place for tourists and is quite noisy. But it’s also attractive and has wonderful food. We had to ask for a wine list, but it had some gems and also some reasonable bottles. We enjoyed a bottle of nice Nebbiolo for $60. The wait staff is great and they all seem to have been here for years.

Really Good, but also a little uneven

By William B |

We were walking past and took a bar table on a Thursday before the dinner rush. The main room (quiet when we entered) ended up a crowded tumult (there were a couple of large parties) by the time we finished dinner, so we were glad we chose the bar. The waiter talked us out of the Marguerite pizza we wanted as an app but approved the cold antipasto, which was terrible and not worth its price (two cheeses and a few meat slices on a plate sans lettuce, olives, peppers, tomato and anything else that might have made it more pleasing, tasty, or attractive). The mains were *very* good! -- chicken stuffed with asparagus & shrimp; rigatoni with fresh tomato, sauteed onions, bacon & prosciutto; and a main course salad that was just okay. During our dinner our waiter disappeared and another waiter took over without introducing himself or mentioning that our waiter was now working the busy back room (which was obvious). That's not my favorite thing but the service remained attentive. The dessert choices (they bring out a stocked cart) all looked good and our chocolate mouse was excellent and the cappuccino was hot and delicious. All in all I enjoyed the food but also found the experience somewhat uneven. The nondescript app, the change in waiters, and the waiter talking us out of the pizza (even tho I noticed several of the pizzas, served on a mini-peel and looking delicious, going to other tables) were the negatives. We hope to try Arno again, maybe on a quiet night, or earlier.

Great Atmosphere, wonderful service and very good food

By Mark F |

First time to Arno. Very nice atmosphere. The service was wonderful. Had a drink at the bar prior to dinner and the bartender was excellent. We started with some apps (which were very good) followed by our entrees and dessert. Quite a few specials and the regular menu had choices that anyone who loves Italian food would find a dish that they liked.

Good veal chop

By Sgtpott |

Place was busy had a Rez got sat immediately. Good start then waiter took awhile to come over. Hostess brought us menus over. Waiter was quick to run off with order. Didn’t come back to see if we wanted more wine. Veal chop was very good. Food was good service not so much.

Good service, subpar food, turn off the news!!!

By NLicata |

Service was wonderful. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was subpar. The capresi salad was awful, tomatoes weren’t even ripe. Sole with capers had very little flavor. Cheesecakes for dessert was yummy. However, they did not check our proof of vaccination and when we asked about checking it, the host laughed at us. Second, they have a huge tv in the front area on FOX News. When I go out to eat at a decent restaurant I don’t want fox, or any news channel on. What is the need to do that, just leave it OFF. So obnoxious and cheesy to have a nice restaurant showing Fox News while your trying to enjoy time with your family. No thanks! As someone who is more Covid cautious, if we wouldn’t have been pressed for time to see I show, I would have dined elsewhere as it was crowded and I didn’t feel protected.

Good atmosphere - traditional Italian

By HappyDays1010 |

Lots of people & flavours in this restaurant. We had a nice meal of peppers & anchovies followed by the Scallopini. Would definitely go back again.

Terrific Food and Atmosphere

By Steve |

The veal chop Parmesan, chicken and pasta fagul soup were all excellent. Luigi who had been there more than 20 years was an OUTSTANDING waiter being very attentive to our needs. One of the partners came over to welcome us. This was a terrific dining experience—we’ll be back!

Outstanding Italian Food

By Kevin |

I’ve had the pleasure to dine at Arno Restaurant many times over past 25 years. The restaurant consistently delivers outstanding Italian food with attentive service. I highly recommend it for business or personal events.

Uncomfortable presence and felt rushed throughout. Not the usual service in New York.

By Richard M |

Food was good but the service was way too quick, aggressive at times. Wasn’t attentive didn’t take the time to listen or take care in our order. Wouldn’t recommend.

Fantastic Italian with a great atmosphere

By Derek C |

The hospitality, food and atmosphere were incredible. Old school Italian hospitality. Everyone loved their fish and the very reasonable wine they recommended was fantastic. Highly recommended

Delightful

By schvitzNewYorkCity |

A long established Italian serving classic and variants of classic dishes. My cutlets, sauced in butter and lemon, were excellent. Pleasant surroundings, albeit located in the drab northern end of the old garment district. Service was professional . Prices are in the teens for primi and mostly in the thirties for secondi. Worth it

Made to feel awkward and uncomfortable.

By 313claudia |

The food was satisfactory, the service and ambience were terrible. The head waiter kept glaring at us, gave us the bill before we had finished our wine and there was no offer of dessert, despite the dessert trolley sitting 10 feet away from our table. I rarely write a negative review but I was appalled by our treatment. I dine out regularly and I'm happy to pay high prices for great service - this was a high price with no service.

Excellent find!

By michele0170 |

We came by this restaurant at a busy time during the holiday season. We didn't have a reservation but they were so accommodating and offered us the only table available, which wasn't in a very desirable spot. We took it as everywhere else was packed. The staff were excellent and the food was fresh and delicious. The manager (owner?) offered dessert on the house presumably because the table wasn't ideal. We we're just grateful they were able to seat us! It is on the pricey side, but given the location, quality of the food and hospitality we will definitely go back.

Old fashioned Italian

By Nancy B |

Can't believe we haven't been to this restaurant before! We eat in New York City frequently and must have passed this multiple times. It's a lovely Italian restaurant with great food ,service and an overall special experience. The waiters are excellent and friendly, but not intrusive. We enjoyed a nice leisurely pre theater dinner. The filet of sole was delicious. My husband had the pasta special-tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese sauce. The bread was good too. Our waiter brought us a complimentary Cheesecake slice with strawberries to top off a very enjoyable experience.

Delicious and expensive

By Noa G |

The food is very tasty and the service is excellent. The portion I took was very small compared to the price I paid, and I was a little afraid to add a tip for that. Overall was great.

Gorgeous

By carolniaey |

This place was gorgeous. It looked brand new when I walked in and it smelled great too. My appetite was given a big boost when I entered this place. There was a lot to love about this place. The design of the restaurant was very modern and cool. The people at the restaurant were all dressed very nice. The salad was really good. They put a lot of flavor in it, which is great. I loved my entree too. I had the swordfish. It was really tender and nice. I loved all of the food I had. I had a really good waiter too. He was always on time with the refills and made sure I was happy, which I definitely was. 5 out of 5 at this awesome place.

Fantastic food and service

By Stephen Z |

Best Italian food I've had in forever. We had the eggplant parm (amazing), smoothest gnocchi, and delicious chicken with lemon. Took my 2 kids (12 and 9) and they got to practice their "fine dining" skills. The service was incredible and it was not too pricey. Definietly going back on my next trip to nyc.

Fantastic Special Lunch Find

By Steven S |

An authentic, old school Italian restaurant near to Times Square. The food, presentation & service were impeccable. We felt welcome & well attended to. The portions were generous and, given the higher prices, also good value. The waiters in tuxedos were funny, knowledgeable & welcoming, without hovering or smothering. Highly recommended.

Delicious! Wonderful service.

By mortyatport |

Went there before the Billy Joel concert and it was a nice touch that they played his music! The food was simply delicious. My husband had the pasta e fagioli soup special and said it was wonderful. I had a halibut with capers special and it was excellent. My husband had the veal scallopini and it was also delicious. The servers were very attentive, we loved the atmosphere. I would go back for certain.

The best Italian food restaurant at Manhattan.

By markermark |

Fresh ingredients, high quality cooking and very good professional service. Italy’s spirit in all: the place design, style of service and staff humor.

Awful servers

By Charlie T |

Still have the bitter taste of the visit. The servers were horrible. The food was fine and the ambiance is a bit loud.

Be carefull

By @rturo @ lori@ |

Seems like a very friendly place, waiters try to be very friendly but review the check well and if you defer in opinion with them ... won’t be so friendly even will shout at you! Food was good, not extraordinary but well prepared . Will accommodate as many persons as they come in, even will put extra tables next to you. I would say $$$ .

A very nicw dinner

By 601earla |

We were looking for a great Italian Dinner and we got it. Food choices were significant and familiar. Wines were good. My wife and I both had veal dishes and the sauces were authentic and terrific. Service was very attentive. Great

poor service , wrong orders, tasteless meal at full price

By mark t |

Have been here before with groups of 7-8 with reservations for theather evening dinner with good service--11/3/25 5pm was a complete opposite in an empty resturant --date and I were greated by matre d Lt Blue suit) as hello " Gentleman" (cute heterocouple), we asked about our reservation and then ingnored -- he just walked away... Went to the bar and ordered a wine and a manhattan - got 2 glasses of wine from the bar tender with no offer to correct her error ( she looked to be 18 years old, and only 5 people at the whole bar- not busy). Eventually got seated; asked the waiter about any beef special in comparison to menu item--ordered beef- received a veal scallopini -- told waiter who rudely said i ordered that - friends at table also knew, and said i ordered beef-- no response....So instead of calling the manager and conflict to conyinue my evening, i tried the veal-- overly breaded paper thin veal with a chopped tomato a few peices of frisee type greens on top -- terrible, flavorless, let others try who agreed-- i had a few bites and sent it back-- spoke to senior waiter again---his response - charged me full price for his incorrect, terrible meal and gave us an attitude. At least the evening theatre show was great--wont be coming back here again. Advice: speak to manager, request refund or just go to any other great resturant within 2 blocks...

Awful place rude staff Avoid

By Griffen D |

My wife and I stopped late afternoon early evening for a light meal, as it was my birthday we had eaten on and off all day whilst out enjoying New York, the restaurant was empty with a couple of people at the bar area, the first thing I noticed was the staff all congregated in an area, our arrival seemed to be disturbing their little chat. The warm New York welcome we have received everywhere else was non existent with the maitre-d leaving our table after seating us conversing with the group gathered in Italian and them in ruptures of laughter, it seemed clear this was at our expense. We both ordered a Caesar salad as a main with chicken, what arrived was a bunch of lettuce thrown on a plate with some dressing on (see pic) when we queried the content we where informed this was normal, our waiter then spoke to another staff member congregated area near our table who clearly stated loud enough for us to hear "hope they f*****g choke on the lettuce" this place is awful the staff are rude and have no customer service etiquette at all worst experience we have had in New York by a mile!!! Avoid avoid avoid

old fashion italian restaurant

By paultje44 |

we (grand parents and two granschildren) asked in our hotel for a good real italian restaurant, and they gave us this address we intended to go for 8 pm, but that was not possible for a table of 4, it had to be 7.30 pm, so we did. the whole time we were there, a lot of tables for 4 stayed unoccupied, so we did not understand the half hour difference. we ordered tagliatelle vongole, with 4 real fresh vongole, and the rest without shell out of a glass recipient or frozen, who knows. the cotolette milanaise was good, and the spaghetti for our grandchildren (17 and 18) were acceptable. The interior, old fashioned Italia atmosphere. The Tiramisu was good, and the service was nice. Prices acceptable for NY we will not return there

A cosy oasis close to Times Square

By Cecilia E |

On a side street to 7th Ave is this Italian restaurant. We walked in and received a very warm welcome. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. We could order half portions for our 9-year old and he gives top marks to their tomato and basil sauce. The dessert trolley came with a singing waitor. Lovely staff!

Good, What's Missing?

By William B |

What's missing, or perhaps what's present? Is it the NYC impersonal vibe? It was a very businesslike experience, even though the food was good and the service acceptable. We spent $150 for a couple entrees, split a salad, and a couple glasses of wine. Pretty average cost for a dinner in the City, I'd guess. We weren't disappointed, just left feeling like it was a transaction type meal/

Fantastic evening

By Ruth B |

This was truely one of the highlights of our trip. We selected this restaurant because it was close to the theater that we were attending that evening. We arrived at 5 and there were just a few guest in the dining room. Our waiter was outstanding. In a very low voice he serenated us. We were four ladies and just loved it. I would suggest that management consider roving singers. The food was outstanding and the service was perfection. We can’t wait until we visit New York again. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys fine Italian food.

Solid Northern Italian Restaurant

By tms215 |

The food is very good, the service is very good. It is a beautiful place. Problem is that it isn't amazingly better than the competition. The location is a big draw and you won't be disappointed if you go there. I would go there if I was in the area and be sure I would have a good experience. There are other places I would travel to in the City that are just a shade better but this is a good go to place in that part of town

Taken Here

By jak n |

Have never heard of ARNO's! We were invited by business associates.. This place is so old school New York Italian.. we loved it. Rib eye steak was to die for and we sampled 3 differnet pasta dishes all excellent.. So while its a lot of work to get in to at trendy place, this is a no brainer...and worth the walk to mid-town.

Simply the best. ☀️✨❤️

By Mind E |

Always a pleasure being a guest at Arno’s. The food is fabulous. The Chicken, artichoke and capers melts in your mouth, make this a must every visit from Seattle. They make me feel part of their family every meal I have with them. ☀️✨❤️ Some of the most interesting conversations, that leave me only wanting more time there. ☀️. Until the next time.

Good pre-theater meal (not cheap)

By phil fort wash |

We stopped in for an early dinner at Arno between parts 1 & 2 of Harry Potter. Even though we were about 15 minutes early, we were promptly seated, offered our choice of water and had our drink orders taken. Service was very friendly and reasonably efficient. The menu has something for everybody and there were 1/2 a dozen specials as well. Appetizers were tasty and most of them were ample enough for sharing - I particularly enjoyed my roasted peppers and anchovy app. Main courses were of decent size as well and enjoyed by our party with the exception of one pasta dish that could have benefited from more sauce (which the diner did not ask for). Desserts were the usual array for a NYC Italian restaurant and decent, but not notable. The AC was struggling to keep up with the current heat wave even though the restaurant was not crowded at 5:30. For 6 people, the meal with 5 apps, 6 entrees, 4 desserts and 2 glasses of wine came to about $60 per person before tip, which is probably average for the neighborhood. All in all, we were satisfied with our meal and done in plenty of time to get to the theater.

Nice Italian Restaurant

By Toseta |

We came back late from Woodbury outlets and were tired and hungry. I googled it and found and Italian restaurant nearby where they still accepted reservations for 9 pm. The restaurant is lovely with crispy white table cloth and classic decor. Food was excellent and service was impeccable. The only thing I didn't like - was specific smell in the restaurant. But maybe it was something particular only that night. In any case I would definetely recommend this restaurant!

I would eat there again.

By LibertyStreet |

Great wines. Linen tablecloths and napkins. Good service. Italian bean soup wonderful. Salad felt like throwback to 1960-hot house tomatoes, heavy dressing. Calamari like rubber. Dessert cart selections looked good. Type of place where regulars must know what to order.

Solid Italian cuisine dining experience

By Sacha L |

Great old world Italian dining. We enjoyed our meals and the service. Our waiter was engaging and made helpful suggestions to enrich our dining experience. My husband loves carbonara and we didn’t see it on the menu ... our waiter was delighted to receive the inquiry and happy to ask the kitchen to make it happen!

Can’t wait to return!

By travelbug02818 |

My first night after arriving in NYC, I was so exhausted, I asked front desk for recommendation for a restaurant that was very close to hotel and this was recommended by front desk clerk. Very cozy , inviting atmosphere, and being solo, I opted to sit at the bar which was quite full. The barmaid was very pleasant, attentive and recommended the Bolognese for which I ordered parpardelle pasta, and small salad. I knew as soon as I saw the delicate, homemade pasta that this was a great choice. I’m not Italian, but have been to Italy numerous times, and I would swear it was prepared by a loving Nonna. Unfortunately I was too full after the meal to order a dessert, but they looked decadent. Highly recommend this place!

NYC Dinner for Two

Absolutely delightful! Wonderful service! Boris the bartender is outstanding! Carlos made sure our night was perfect! Very much appreciated! Food was terrific, the tiramisu was heaven, steaks could not have been better. Very very good!

Excellent A+

By Peter G |

What a way to start off our trip to NYC. Service was top notch and the meal was exceptional. I would highly recommend giving this hidden gem a try. You will not be disappointed.

Uncomfortable and embarrassing experience

By Helen J |

When entering the restaurant this evening, with my husband we were met with the statement (lady front of house) 'I'll just let you know that we don't do pizza here'. We were completely taken back and I was hurt by her 'assumption'. We have experienced fine dining including Marcus Waring,Heston Bloomington and Michelle Rue (Le Gavroche in London.)We were extremely lucky to have actually met MichelleRue during our visit, he sat and spoke with us. There is a reason why such people (chefs/resteraunteers) maintain their popularity and people want to visit their restaurants, and spend their money! Money of which helps to support their business! I would advise that additional customer service & care is offered to the member of staff and a gentle reminder as to who pays her wages! We had planned to enjoy an authentic Italian dinner this evening, the restaurant looked perfect. However, due to our experience I looked at my husband and told him that I didn't want to eat in a place that had made us feel so unwelcome. Note: We left due to our negative experience and not because we couldn't afford what was on the menu!

Nice cosy restaurant, but service needs improvement

By Vanessa R |

Nice cosy restaurant. The food was pretty good, nothing fancy and expensive. For me, what let this place down was the service. Our waiter was rather brash, almost poured wine everywhere. It had a feeling of get you in and out as quick as possible. What really disappointed me, was that I mentioned my husbands 50th birthday being on that day in the email booking and then again when we arrived. The staff made nothing of it! When they did sing happy birthday on another table. It was over $200 per couple. I don’t think we’d go back.

Food was A++. A great Meal

By Karl C |

Our party of three had two sodas and two glasses of wine (total), one buffalo mozzerella ap, and three pasta entrees (a mushroom, a potato gnocchi, a bolognese), and one side of spinach. (And one latte.) $150 inc. tax -- plus tip. So we were $180 out the door. All of the entrees were SUPER. So was the mozzerella. We certainly do recommend Arno. The drawbacks were minor and include: the waiter (Marino) didn't seem interested in bringing us a wine list and brought it only after he told us the wine list options were more expensive than house varietals he offered initially. (Did we look like penny pinchers? We're not. And we are minor wine wonks) The refill on the Diet Coke was not free. Lastly, they require (according to Marino) that the ap order and the entree order must be given at the same time, which makes sense in a busy pre-theater bistro but this was 8 pm at night (curtain is up) and Arno was no more than 30% full. Oh, enough of my complaining. Marino disappeared after we ordered and we were helped by a team of three other wait staffers that were genuinely nice and doting. We like Arno and would return.

Enjoyable - but felt rushed by the staff

By StephenCross |

Arno is a very nice and very Italian restaurant in mid-town. Food is very good and well presented. Portion sizes good and not excessive. Staff were a bit pushy. Otherwise ambiance good.

Wonderful meal on a chilly night.

By Holly M |

The restaurant is warm and inviting, every member of the staff, from host to waiters were smiling and energetic. Loved my table by the window. It’s in garment district and appreciated the small touches, like buttons embedded in the wood tables. The food was outstanding, I enjoyed a hot, bowl of pasta fagioli, one of the best I’ve tasted. And the capellini pasta was so delicious,I ordered a half portion.

Dinner

By akt28 |

We did not have a reservation and walked in and were greeted immediately by a very jovial man, we were seated and had bread on The table within seconds of sitting down, we chose the chicken in lemon sauce which was delicious, however the portion size of the potato could have been a little bigger but again was tasty, only negative was there was no menu to look at in the window or outside before entering and you felt obliged to eat without looking at the menu first, waiting staff were from croatia and were friendly and dressed smartly

Great Food and Impeccable Service

By cadysue |

We are sent to Arno Ristorante by our hotel staff (thanks, Peter!) and given VIP treatment. From a reserved table, to a great antipasti plate, to perfectly cooked meals...oh, and the desserts!!! YUM! Our waiter was so kind and the owner even stopped by to say hellp...what a beautiful way to end our NYC trip!

Best Italian Ristorante

By Salomon A |

Impressive menu and quality dinner plates including some fresh home made pasta ( Gnocchi al Pesto, Fettucine alla panna, Taglione Freschi (my favorite), truly enjoyed every thing from the wine selection to appetizers, dinner, dessert, after dinner drinks, service is second to none from floor manager/owner ( I think ) Carlos to everyone down the line of service, my family and I have been in for dinner 3 days out of our 6 days visit to New York, Arno Ristorante can be recommended for a fine dinning experience.

Great food and staff!

By harphaulingdad |

We went as a business dinner for 16 folks, and had a private dining area towards the back of the restaurant. The staff was very attentive, but not overly so, and clearly knew the specials and menu items, and made adequate recommendations. Everything our party had, which was varied and from all parts of the menu, was prepared perfectly and delicious. There was not one complaint or mistake in serving. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Food & Service - Family Atmosphere

By ServiceMatters86 |

We were guests of one of their regulars during a business trip to New York. The food and the service were exceptional. You can tell that the service staff are part of the family. I look forward to our next trip.

Pasta was so good

The food was so good that I was enjoying the pasta for the last peace the atmosphere was even better you’ll enjoy the food one of the best in New York

Not so good Italian

By Janice J |

Food ok - service at the bar poor - the bartender was too concerned flirting with the men to pay attention to the young business women Too bad - looks like a great place Most men in the bar were drinking only - maybe a good place to hang out for a drink

Murdered by the Mob Dinner Show

By Savvy Traveller |

Show was fantastic! Great cast - very interactive. Good food, dancing and audience participation. Great idea for date night or group activity. Check out if you can get a Groupon too!

Entertainment at best!!!!

By 599margir |

My husband and I went out for a date night to see this show, and it was terrific. From the moment we walked through the doors up until the end of the show it kept us both in laughter. My favorite character was Rosella, although the rest of cast did a great job as well. As for the food, it was delicious; however, I wish that it would have been more. Overall, great show!!!!

Great meal and service.

By AKOrangeFan |

Limited pasta choices but all available that we ordered were good. Appetizers, esp cially stuffed clams were excellent. Wine list was vase and very good as well. Dessert varieties were also very good.

A delight to your taste buds

By Ramya |

Eccezionale! The pollo just melted as soon as it went into the mouth. The portion size is just about enough. We learnt after going that there was a show, the tickets to which will also buy you a dinner.

Old-school Italian done very well!

By German B |

Nestled in midtown on 38th St, Arno's offers a very old-school, white table cloth Italian restaurant atmosphere complete with uniformed waiters and staff. Lots of wood and charm throughout the space. Their menu offers some great classics and did not disappoint! We opted for the fried calamari appetizer (delicately fried), then ordered the tortellini bolognese (fresh pasta) and pollo alla limone (such a delicious sauce!), both excellent. We had veggie sides too (broccoli rabe and asparagus). The topper was the luscious dessert cart they brought to the table, full of many enticing choices. It's worth the visit just for that!

Good food & service - no COVID precautions.

By Rob |

Food was very good, as was the service. We were in and out in less then an hour. The only issue / question was the lack of COVID precautions. None of the staff wore a mask at any time.

Classic and very authentic Italian

By Kelly Smith |

Arno is a classic and must-visit if you love Italian food served in a traditional, family-owned environment. I love this place. The staff are amazing. The food is always excellent. The bar is welcoming.

WORDT EXPERIENCE OF OUR TRIP

By Zac S |

The food quality and portions are disgusting for the ridiculous prices they charge. During our meal they took the flowers and unlit candle off our table we felt forced to leave. Then they started hoovering, with the lack of music and utter silence it was very rude. On top of that they then shut the shutters whilst we we’re still eating. When we confronted the staff about this they we’re very rude. I highly recommend to NEVER eat at this horrible place. I’ve attached a photo of the shutters closed whilst we’re inside.

Classic pre theater/business white table cloth, tuxedoed wait staff Italian restaurant. My wife’s rigatoni dish and my veal scalloping were scrumptious. Service was timely and properly detailed. The bill not for the faint of heart but not a surprise.

Another awesome experience! Please ask for Desi, as he is awesome. The first time we dined there, we had Desi simply by good fortune, but now we always ask for him and are never disappointed! The food is also tremendous and the venue is close to Times Square, theaters, and so much more. Definitely worth adding to your short list of restaurants in the area.

Excellent

By Lisa B |

The food was excellent as well as the service and atmosphere. I had chicken in a lemon sauce and I’ve never tasted anything more heavenly. I also had the cheesecake for dessert. It was very good. I would definitely go back .

The best tiramisu

By Janet P |

Great Italian food on our recent visit. We selected here due to TripAdvisor reviews and the proximity of the restaurant to our hotel. We both had pasta dishes and they were excellent (tortellini bolognese and capellini primavera) but the highlight was the tiramisu. It's been years since I've tasted tiramisu that good!

Bad experience

By msspss |

Got the restaurant recommended by our hotel. Worst experience ever had in NY Should ask for wine card Non friendly vaiter. Spilling all over when filling wine and water. Sad pasta with no taste in the sauces.

Dinner in newyork

By glenangvos |

Great dinner and impeccable service! They even followed all the classy rules and I loved that... didn’t approach our table for our order till our menu was closed, small details that make you feel welcomed rather then rushed! They even had a wonderful wine list and our food was Devine

Delicious food and great warm service

My wife and two teenagers had a delicious lunch today. The service was great and very warm and welcoming. Food was delicious and so was the Tiramisu.

Excellent pasta well cooked and savoury. Great service. And no loud music you can talk and hear your neighbor!

Amazing Service & Food!

By Aundrea M |

This was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. Our server had perfect timing with getting food/drink order and left us alone to enjoy our food and wine. It was a great balance. The food was so delicious! Highly recommend the Gnocchi Pesto! The atmosphere is super friendly, fast paced but I never felt rushed. I felt right at home here.

Vintage NYC Italian

Great atmosphere, timely service and the food was very good. Very fun and a bit noisy. We would go again.

Murdered by the mob was awesome!

By yolanda n |

The show was great. Food was even better. We were a large group and upon arrival we were instantly sat together and able to read the back story as well as gear the back story from the actors in the audience. We instantly felt like we were a part of the show! I come from an italian background so i am usually hesitant to eat italian food but i must admit that all the food was amazing wait staff was very accommodating and made the evening even more enjoyable. I know i will be back!! Definitely try it guaranteed to have fun! Even if you go alone someone will be a part of your group!

very busy place but excellent service. Perfect traditional Italian food. Attentive but not overly so - food came quickly and was delicious.

Classy Italian restaurant in NYC

By OwnYourself |

We found this resturant due to recommendations on trip advisor and it didn’t disappoint. Superb shrimp starter, excellent pasta main courses with first class service. Highly recommended.

This Italian classic continues to be classic

By Alistair B |

Carlos and team again did an incredible job last night. Their experienced attentiveness, humour, and customer service were first class. I have been coming here for 10 years, always staying close to the pesto gnocchi and the specials. Last nights veal with zucchini was the dish of my summer hands down. Drinks were spot on, and a Barolo recommended to us incredible. See you again soon.

Fantastic meal and service

By kentharrell |

My wife and I came to New York for the weekend. A friend recommended Arno and we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great authentic Italian dinner.

Great food and Excellent Service

By Charles L |

We arrived on time and were seated right away (at least after a "line jumper" cut in front of us as was seated first). We were immediately greeted by our wait staff for drinks and fresh bread and butter. The menu is wonderful. We had salad and roasted red peppers with anchovy to start. We both had fish. I did the Dover Sole (out of this world good), and my wife had chicken which was perfectly prepared. Skipped dessert since we were going to a show. Price is what you would expect for a good NY place. Overall, we were delighted with food and service. I would definitely come back here.

Dinner and theater

By rich b |

We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was perfect. The service is top notch. My glass was never empty and never a dirty plate on the table. The food came quickly piping hot and DELICIOUS. i had the seafood risotto in a light tomato sauce. Outstanding!!!!! Napoleon for dessert. My Beautiful wife had the Cappellini Primavera. She loved it and couldn't get enough of the Tiramisu.

Excellent experience!

Wonderful Italian meal. Try the crostini di mozzarella (basically fried cheese). Excellent. Every thing we ordered was fantastic. Big portions though so come hungry.

Good italian restaurant

By Maurizio S |

Good intalian restaurant in Midtown. Wide selection from the menu and some specials Always available. Size of plate is quite big, enoungh to share.

Avoid - there are so many good Italian restaurants in NYC

By NYCViking |

It looks nice enough from the outside, and the staff is very friendly when you come in (and throughout the meal!). However, the food leaves a lot to be desired. Two of us had the Linguini Vingole and we even asked if the clams were fresh, which was confirmed. And so they were, at least the three that came in the shell. The soggy pile of clams in the middle may have been fresh before they were put in their can, but that must have been a while ago. Only surpassed by the even worse sogginess of the overcooked linguini. They must have been used to guests not being able to eat it, as nobody asked about why both of us left 75% of the dish uneaten. On a good note: The Gavi di Gavi was good, although overpriced.

First-Rate Italian

By Michael Y |

Had dinner -- again -- at this relatively hidden gem down the block from Macy's and within reach of the Great White Way. The linguini with lobster special was outstanding, containing also shrimp, clams, and mussels. Pasta was perfectly al dente, despite its blanket of fish and sauce. The service is beyond reproach --- respectful, timely, yet right there when you need it. Hope to go back many times over.

Wonderful Food

By joelyria |

Wonderful food and service. Our server was wonderful. Loved the food. Also enjoyed picking our dessert off the dessert cart. Everything was delicious. Planning on returning every time we come to New York.

Lovely lunch in theater district

By LeeMahwah |

Arno is lovely decorated restaurant. Italian cuisine, my husband and I shared a Caesar salad and chicken dish. Chicken dish was stuffed with cheese and mushrooms and was delicious. The service was fast and attentive. We were stuck in traffic and felt may be late for the theater, no problem. They bring a dessert cart around and the desserts looked delicious and beautiful. We would go back for lunch or dinner

Delicious!

By Novacrawf |

Team dinner with our vendor this week. Food was delicious and service was very friendly and efficient. They were conscious of time considering several of us were on early trains out of Penn Station. Baked clams & fried calamari were really good, and everyone was happy with our respective entrees (veal, seafood special, pasta, and steak were all ordered). Nice wine list. Dessert cart looked amazing, but I stuck to espresso. Good location if you need to catch Amtrak or a game at the Garden.

Well worth a visit

By BillL64 |

Great Italian food with good service. Classic restaurant with servers, al men, clad in black suits or tuxes. Large menu with many choices. Superb veal. Only disappointment was not a menu for wines my the class.

Great little spot off the main sections of times square. Amazing food, Italian waiters, really nice find

Top notch, top quality Italian

By Tripking07 |

Outstanding service! Super flexible. Loved the food all around. Near the theater distract and Times Square. Should be ranked far higher in my opinion. Cannot go wrong.

Excellent - Seems like recent negative reviews MUST be describing a different place...

By Allison C |

Excellent service and food! I was very surprised to read recent terrible reviews about this place. We happened upon it when we were walking through Midtown. We were warmly welcomed without a reservation (Monday night at 8:30). The service was attentive, without being overbearing and they even offered to prepare a special dish for one of our family members who requested it without hesitation. The atmosphere was sophisticated, but not stuffy and we could hear each other speaking. The wine came out promptly and the food followed without delay. Very central location to Midtown and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend having a meal here to experience the hospitality and traditional Italian charm.

Classic Italian at its best!

By Libby C |

A native New Yorker recommended this restaurant to us and I am so glad he did. This was not your usual tourist Italian but a classic Italian restaurant with white linen tablecloths and waiters in tuxedos. I fully expected to look up and see the Godfather walk in! I had a delicious veal parmiagiana and my friend had mushroom risotto. Both were delicious! I recommend Arno's for anyone wanting good Italian without the crowds of Times Square.

Italian hidden gem in Midtown

By Maura M |

Arno, located on West 38th Street, is a bit of a hidden gem. We live here and go there often. Last night we had calamari, salad, pasta and veal. The pasta was just amazing. The service is always attentive. I drink a lot of water and my glass was constantly refilled—without asking. If you are in Midtown and want really good Italian food you might want to put this on your radar.

An Elegant Italian Restaurant in NY

By Ebru A |

It is an elegant restaurant located in Manhattan. It has both bar seats and restaurant tables. Thus, it might also be a nice place for the working people in NY to visit after the office hours. The restaurant have a quite large selection of Italian foods and drinks.

Ripoff Charge

By alanbones |

Disappointing, "ripoff charge". Went before Broadway show, entered, SPECIFICALLY stating i did not want to eat (to avoid stomach problems at Show) BUT my friend would eat a full meal..."is that OK"? Fine they assured me. So she orders a pasta dish and i told the waiter i'd "pick off her plate"...There's no "SHARING charge" right? He shook his head "No". When the order arrived, it was in 2 separate plates, equal proportions, which i at first thought was nice but said "Uh Oh". Sure enough, they charged $10 more for something i SPECIFICALLY said i was avoiding....And called it 2 Appetizers instead of the full meal i ordered. The owner/manager did nothing to make any concession. Food was eatable and i would have probably returned one day (as it is directly across from a good parking lot).

Food was quite nice but ripped me off

By Chris H |

The food was fine if a little pricey but the service was pretty curt and unfriendly, which we kind of got used to in New York. I paid the bill and left a 15% tip which I thought they didn't really deserve, but when I got my credit card bill back I found that they had added over 50% to the bill. Beware when eating here - keep the evidence of what you paid. I did and have raised a dispute with my credit card company.

You will never go wrong

By jonathross |

The service is great, the food is great and that all there is to it. Make it a must when in town. I have returned time and time again

Amazing Dinner

By Chris L |

Amazing restaurant and service. The calamari was a little overdone, but the pastas and eggplant parmigiana were perfect. After dinner, they give you the dessert menu and have a dessert cart to show you what the desserts look like. We shared the Tiramisu and Cheesecake and they were delicious. Very busy restaurant. Very busy, Reservations recommended.

Murdered by the Mob

By amandakruiz |

A happy accident indeed. Truth be told, was searching for tickets to one show (which was sold out) and managed to score a great deal on "dinner & a show". The actors are fantastic at keeping in character, right from your entrance to your departure. Hilarity ensues and even as you try to console the grieving widow.... the Italian charm (and curses) starts to flow as you find yourself being part of the play and famiglia. The music and dancing was worked in and gave everyone a chance to cut a rug. The pasta and chicken parmigiana was actually pretty good and the cream puffs are the icing on the cake. Two of the best experiences came out of this evening.... the first was sitting amongst heroes. A table full of service women (& 3 service dogs) who just returned from Afghanistan. The second was the photo ops with cast and meeting the owner and producer. This takes theatre to a whole different level and reiterates why I prefer the smaller venues and a passion for eclectic. Bravo all!

Arrogant Waiter

By James S |

Old world New York Italian restaurant - this place has been around for a while now. A little glitzy in decor. Food was great. Our service was awful. I’m not sure if we got such nasty service because we were a male couple or what the problem was. Other tables seemed to have better service. Nobody came to our table, give us menus, greet us or a drink order. We had to ask the maitre ‘d. No specials were offered until we asked. No check back after food arrived and no asking us if we wanted wine. End of meal he didn’t bring the dessert cart, told us they only had tiramisu, when a full dessert cart was 50 feet away. Arrogant, rude, uncaring, nasty service. The food was good, I had the lemon chicken, which I enjoyed. Prices were high.

check the bill carefully

By albertobY6278NR |

I was there with some customers for an early dinner, average food medium level, but when the check arrived there was an extra 24$ that were not supposed to be there. the waiter excused himself and the bill was fixed correctly. As it happened before around one year ago, I suggest you check the bill carefully when you pay cash. the ambient is fairly elegant for business dinners and the staff is properly trained.

European Charm

By Bookworms2010 |

This is a lovely dining experience with great Italian food. The tables are covered with white linen, the waiters have black suits and are courteous and helpful. The food was great. I had a pomodoro dish and my husband had spaghetti. Both dishes were very flavorful

New York Italian

By SpeckyChefette |

There were five of us dining and we enjoyed our meal ( my prawns were a little tough ) . My only comment was that the drinks were very expensive and overall for the money we spent it did not feel like great value - some how as I was a little shocked at the bill . Friendly clean and nice staff

Average

By Noli T |

Average food, small portions, no veg option with main course, just mashed potatoes. Unfriendly waiter, felt rushed ordering. Small portions. Will not recommend or return.

Amazing Mocktails!

By Ellen |

This place is so cute! The food is delicious and they even have mocktails!!! The restaurant took my food allergies seriously, which is so hard these days to find. The food had great flavor and presented well.

Average

By Lottie G |

Really was looking Forward to Coming here.I Had To start The Shrimp Cocktail which comprised of 4 Large cold prawns And 2 Olives very Bland .I went for the Veal in sage sauce which came with Spinach and Mash potato it was just ok .We shared a Tiramisu tastes of Caramel quiet strange .My Husband is Italian and a Chef so I can be a bit critical of other people's Cooking but when you have had the best it's hard not to be .I think all that I had to eat could have done with a bit more seasoning but that's just me .A little expensive but I don't mind paying for quality.

Team Dinner - Goodness

By jeffkr2017 |

Good location for having a team dinner. They have a private balcony area above the main floor seating for parties. I had 20 and service was prompt, able to order off the menu and food good for the value, about $120/person and included wine. Only downside is due to the balcony overhang, they can’t serve cocktails while standing.

Lovely restaurant

By KZN-AJM |

Lovely restaurant. Great for couples, solo, business, NYC families. Fantastic food and service. Great vibe. Highly recommend.

Rehearsal Dinner

By Richard G |

We attended a rehearsal dinner with approximately 60 people on Saturday, May 30th. From the time we entered the staff was very courteous and professional. The service was incredible the entire night. Appetizers and food was excellent and never ending!!! It was a great evening with great service and food even with a large crowd like this giving speeches, etc.

Great looking - sadly lacking

By TASfromAUS |

We wandered into Arno's for dinner. Restaurant is really lovely, decor and ambiance. However ordered and the waiter suggested I did not order the chicken as it was frozen, so I went for the pasta, which was very very nice. My only drama was when we ordered wine, he bought us a glass of red wine. There are alot of wines here, so why not give us the wine list so we could choose? We felt as though the staff wanted us out this particular evening. They did not seem to want patrons to linger. This place has a lot of potential.

Magnifico!

By Jackie L |

What a wonderful way to end our trip to New York City before the pandemic restrictions were lifted! We were seated in their new "street garden" and enjoyed a perfect meal while the bike riders whizzed past on the bike lane. We chose the Montalcino from Banfi - always a winner. With it we devoured the cold anipasto platter with wonderful crusty Italian bread and crostini. On to the main event: my friend got the Rigatoni All'amattriciano and let me tell you, she loved every bite! I went with the Tortellini Bolognese and truly the only place I've had anything even close was in Bologna, Italy! If I'd been alone I'd have been tempted to lick the plate! I near perfect dining experience indeed. I will most definitely recommend to my friends & colleagues.

Taste of NYC

By Fran H |

Had already been to downtown and didn't plan on going back, even though I didn't see everything I wanted to....Little Italy, et cetera. Asked at hotel a recommendation close and they didn't hesitate by saying Arno's. The food was amazing! The wait staff was amazing! Setting was amazing! It was pricey for a Texas gal and $30 for just the entree was steep but not for a nice restaurant in the City. If you are wanting experience Italian food in NYC and not go to Little Italy, stop in at Arno's, you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic!

By Omara123 |

Came across this Italian restaurant whilst on our way back to the hotel. Friendly, attentive staff. Great drink selection. Wide choice of food. Waiter suggested food for the children and commented that they could make anything they wanted (if they didn’t like anything from the menu). My choice was tweaked, at waiters suggestion - fab! Made us feel welcome. Would definitely go back.

Excellent Food and Service at Arno NYC

By DFedor |

We had dinner prior to a MSG show. The restaurant was a few walking blocks from MSG so it was convenient. The staff is very attentive and the menu selections are many. The Lobster Ravioli special was delicious and the Salmon selection was excellent as well. We would surely return on return visits to NYC.

Loved sitting at the bar...

By Lori L |

Stopped in for a bite at the bar where Alinea took excellent care of us...and the rest of the bar and service bar. Restaurant was beautiful and would love to go back for a formal dinner - the dessert cart looked amazing. We shared the Fettuccine Bolognese which wasn't technically on the menu but they had no problem substituting this pasta for the Tortellini as it was listed. Flavor was delicious!

Extremely loud when crowded

By Tardykat |

Came here for dinner to treat a coworker about to retire. We were a large party (19) so had several waiters helping us. There is a head waiter to take the order, no everyone got his brand of humor, it came off as a bit rude. Our party had a long table set up in the back by the wall, the seats were so cramped together, with 21 seats, thankfully, we only had 19 showed up so had some breathing room. A bit disappointed the table bread was not warm and the butter was cold thereby making buttering the bread difficult. Manager ordered some hot antipasto go around. It came in individual plates instead. Each plate had a egg plant wrapped around cheese, a shrimp and 3 clams. I only ate the egg plant as not a fan of shelf fish. Fried calamari was ordered. A few others did not like the seafood-heavy hot antipasto so they brought them salads instead. I didn't look at the bill so don't know if we were charged the antipasto we didn't want. I had the chicken special (with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes in lemon sauce), it was a bit salty for my taste. It was served with a side of mashed potatoes and a stale potato chip atop it. For dessert, they pushed out the delectable dessert cart. I chose a chocolate hazelnut mousse cake that looked like a giant Ferroro Rocher. The dessert was good. The head waiter allowed us to order off menu. Unsure if this was a consideration he provided because we were a large (ch-ching!) party or he usually does this if he likes your table. You told him what you wanted to have and the kitchen will accommodate. Surprised the restaurant was so packed for a Wednesday night. The sound volume was such that speaking across the table to my seatmates was difficult.

Quality Authentic Italian

By Vinnie E |

I had the opportunity to entertain a business associate at Arno's restaurant and was nervous as this was my first time visiting this location. We were greeted at the front door by the staff, checked my coat and proceeded to the table. The room looks like something out of an classic italian movie and the ambiance was calming. I was dressed business casual and did not feel uncomfortable. The waiter was very knowledgable and entertaining ( I am horrible with names but this gentleman spoke 7 different languages and really added to the experience). If you ask for the singing waiter that dresses up as Santa Claus I am sure they could point him out. The food was absolutely incredible! We started with the Caprese salad and stuffed clams as a starter. Everything tasted very fresh and I then followed it up with a Veal dish that was the special for the day. They must have beat this poor piece of meat with a sledgehammer because you could have cut it with a fork. I finished with just a cappuccino and left no room for dessert. The waiter brought out the dessert cart and everything looked great however, I didnt want to be the only one ordering more. Check this place out!!!

Worst service ever!

By BAB6301 |

I asked for spinach in my chicken soup with orzo. Did not happen. Asked again. Never came. Soup had noodles NO orzo. Service and attention to detail was horrendous. Waiter took the order then disappeared leaving me to talk in sign languages with service staff that did not speak English well.

Desi Desi Desi

By Matars_Z |

We had an exceptionally fun meal at this restaurant - the food is solid, nothing earth-shattering but very satisfying standard fare, done pretty well. The fun evening was all thanks to the warm, funny, amazing waiter we had, Desi (this after we were reassigned to him, because our original waiter was just horrible, literally barked at me for a request). Desi made the night with his constant jokes and commentary, and he sang to us beautifully as well. Every restaurant would do well to have someone like him taking care of guests.

Wonderful food, great service.

First time eatiing here, wonderful food, great service. Goes on my ist of go to's when in NYC. Offers fine dining in a hustle and bustle area.

AMAZING!!

This dinner was absolutely amazing. We ate here after a broadway show and we were immediately greeted at the door. Every employee was so kind and genuine. They even cooked a special meal off of the menu for us. Great service and even better food!! Definitely coming back!

Good food, no drinks menu

By Ben M |

Came here for dinner, we were seated promptly, brought some water and bread for the table. When we were asked what we wanted to drink we asked the server if we could see a drinks menu to make our mind up but were told: “No as this is a food establishment” He told us about a special cocktail they had on and for ease we agreed to just have two of these, I didn’t mind the cocktail but my wife didn’t like it (Obviously not blaming the restaurant). It would be good to have a drinks menu/list as this is commonplace at other venues and means customers can make a choice themselves. For food we ordered Tortellini Bolognese and Pollo Alla Scarpariello, both really nice dishes although regrettably I couldn’t finish mine due to feeling full. The place seemed popular while we were there and everyone was being looked after. We were both a bit warm inside so unsure if they have A/C or if it was just switched off.

A nice first night's dinner in the Garment District

Our hotel suggested this restaurant. Our granddaughter loved it & said she would go back but we like to try other venues It is very authentic with kind attentive waiters and good food and wine.

Italian Hospitality a Stones Throw from Time Square

By Travelmonkey22 |

This fantastic restaurant located in a side street was an exceptional find. We were welcomed with the legendary hospitality that one associates with Italian restaurants the world over. The food was truly excellent. I enjoyed the best ressotto I have ever tasted. Waiters were in formal attire and service was attentive and polite. When paying the bill the waiter announced that he was buying us dessert. This was served from a traditional trolley, a lovely baked rice cake which I have never tried before and was absolutely delectable. I would gladly offer my highest recommendation, bravo Arno!.

Our favorite!!

By Bdefoe112 |

Every visit to New York requires at least one trip to Arno's. The staff there is superb, and the food is perfect. Whether it is lunch or dinner, we always have a wonderful meal and a memorable experience. Grazzi Arno's! We will see you next trip!!

Incredible Dinner - Highly Recommend

By Jeremy Kent Island |

We had an incredible dinner at Arno. We were sat immediately by the manager, he took our drink order, and had cocktails on our table in seconds. The service at this place is perfect, as the entire staff seems to watch your table. The portions were perfect, everything we tried was wonderful.

Good NY Italian with great service.

By tiledawg |

We had the mozzarella and it was great, as too was the fettuccine and the veal picatta was outstanding. The salmon dish was good too, with bow tie pasta, salads were tasty. nothing to write home about concerning the decor, pretty basic white tablecloth with black chairs place. But the food was very good.

Impeccable Italian

By AnH407 |

My husband and I dined here before the theater on a Friday night. We were promptly seated in the attractive dining room and the wait staff was very attentive. I had the Gamberi ell'Arno which featured shrimp, sauteed peas, pimentos, cream, and cognac and was delicious. My husband had the special which was veal and chicken scaloppine along with shrimp and he was very pleased with it. In addition to our entrees we had a salad and dessert and without feeling rushed we were able to be finished in plenty of time to make it to the theater. All in all, it was a happy dining experience.

Rejected

By cristina 67 |

Stay away from this restaurant. Unnecessarily hasty Service, the waiters run between the tables even if room half empty, they keep pouring you glasses of water to bring you bottles all the time. Absurd prices, two escalopes $42, the markup on wines unacceptable. $13 a bottle of water. Poor Quality of food. I think some reviews read are from people who went to another restaurant.... Rejected

We were looking for somewhere with charm and close to our hotel. Arno did not disappoint. We were seated along the window across from the bar. Interesting to watch business people unwind with a drink before venturing home. Food and service were both excellent.

Welcoming and delicious

By JKGR5 |

Excellent dinner, even better staff. We walked in and were welcomed so graciously, by everyone. The staff is so well choreographed it was hard to tell who was our waiter! Seriously, Arno’s could teach a master class in how to run a dining room.

Great Italian restaurant in the garment district

By Bryce S |

Today I had a business lunch at Arno Restaurante on West 38th Street in Manhattan. It was excellent. The restaurant is in the Garment district between Broadway and 7th Avenue. This is a very elegant Italian restaurant. It is quite big, with a bar area up front (with seating) and a large dining room. It is a linen tablecloth restaurant with waiters in black and white formal dress. The service is very attentive. We started with glasses of the house wine, which was a Malbec. The wine was $13/glass. We split an angel hair pasta dish as a first course. I’m guessing it was about $25. They split it for us. I had the chicken scaloppine and the other fellow had the veal scaloppine. I think these were about $30-35 each. Both courses were excellent. We had each had a second glass of wine. Lunch came to about $160 for two, $200 after tip. I cannot think of any negatives. This was a great lunch.

Quick Efficient service great atmosphere and food.

By liveonthegrid |

Great place to catch up with friends and former coworkers. Food is quick and delicious. Broccoli Rabe and Bolognese Tortelloni was by go to with a side burrata salad. Had a group of 15 service was excellent!

$9,900 Tip WTF

By CharlottedeRuff |

A $9,900 tip was added to our bill. We all thought this was suspicious as there was no reason for the waiter to add a tip. There were Plus no one mistakenly adds $9,900 to a $100 bill. When we asked the waiter he reversed it, but when we called to report it to the management they weren’t very nice about it and were extremely defensive.

Fan-flippin-tastic!

By Lexo Go |

I have a new favorite restaurant in NYC. They greet you with a warm, good fellas smile and then this fantastic man comes out of nowhere and personally escorts you to your table. The food was the best Italian food that I have ever consumed. Drinks were amazing and surprisingly affordable. Meatballs weren’t on the menu and they made them especially for my husband. Drinks, meals and dessert for three people was right at $100. This is my new go-to restaurant. Go here!

Average food, great location, nice ambiance, crabby staff

By LAWRENCE S |

The restaurant is good looking and well located. The food is average at best. When you pick a bottle of wine - they ask "are you familiar with that wine" and they try to get you to spend more. Very tacky. Everything is drenched in butter. Not clean eating choices. When we asked for a steamed vegetable, they charged $4 extra for 5 string beans. They had a large Cesar salad on the menu for $19.95. We ordered that to start for two and was charged $24.95 instead of $19.95.

A Pleasant Surprise

By Na'Keevia |

We had dinner at Arno for my son's 16th birthday. The customer service was on point. We were immediately greeted upon entering. We were seated quickly. Our waiter Manuel was knowledgeable about the menu options including vegetarian favorites for myself. The eggplant parmesan was AMAZING! The desserts were chefs kiss. Everyone knows you can't come to New York without having cheesecake and Arno's cheesecake was incredible. They even arranged to have the team come out and sing happy birthday for my son, providing him with a chocolate mouse cake plated with his name on it. I would totally recommend! Overall, I give Arno a 10/10. Must try!

Delicious dinner & great service

By 414luvtravels |

We ate at Arno as a pre-theater dinner. The restaurant was recommended by our concierge and it was a good recommendation. We were able to make a last minute reservation (recommended, but not required) for our small party. We went early on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was busy, but not crowded. The noise level was good (not the typical NYC scene with tables too close together and so noisy you can't hear across the table). Our waiter was extremely attentive and definitely made sure we enjoyed our meal and got out in time for our theater show. The location is good (garment district- south of Times Square). While not cheap, it was not overpriced for the quality of service and food.

We had a great meal - excellent food

A few of us came in for a company dinner, and it was fabulous. We had so much food, it's hard to recall everything we ate. The veal was great, as was the chicken, and the salads were also delicious. The staff was excellent, as was the environment. I can't wait to return.

Rude manager - overcharged for wine

By Stefan E |

My fiance and I enjoyed the food here and the bar is very nice. However, our first waiter was quite brash and hurried - when I was looking at other starter options, he said essentially "why are you ordering more, that is more than enough?!" Well, ok then. Receiving the check, I noticed that they charged me for a bottle of wine that was twice as expensive (same region, different vintage). The waiter changed it to the one we ordered, but then the manager came to our table to lecture me about wines. He told me that it my responsibility to inspect the wine bottle that is brought to our table, and that if there is a mistake - even a very subtle one (i.e. the year) - then it is my fault for accepting the wine bottle. Of course, when one orders a bottle of wine at a restaurant, one always closely inspects the bottle to ensure the waiter hasn't screwed up! The manager totally spoiled our experience and we won't be going back.

Excellent

NYC has everything and what a great find this was. A great value. Delicious food and impeccable service in elegant and relaxed surroundings. Portions were generous but not enormous catering to quality vs. quantity. A nice relaxing respite to the hustle and bustle of midtown. Fantastic!

Not worth the money

Average food. Very limited menu. Pricy wine list. We had reservations and were seated promptly, however, we had terrible service. Friend had to go to the bar to finally get a drink as our server never took our drink order. Will not return.

Very solid Italian food

Went with Mike, Larry, and Cal before the Ranger game. It was a solid dinner. I had the Caesar salad and veal cardinale, which was good. Mike had a salad and the cardinale also. Larry had the clams oreganata and a veal dish. Clams were excellent. Cal had a salad and seafood dinner. Was very good.

Wonderful restaurant

We walked in off the street on Wednesday evening, dressed very casually. We were welcomed very warmly in spite of the fact that we had no reservations. Our meals were incredibly delicious - by far the best meal we had in NYC. My 9- and 11-year-old sons ordered food not on the menu and they were most accommodating. Our waiter Desi was so hospitable and kind, even when aforementioned sons spilled a full glass of water within minutes of sitting down. A memorable meal and a memorable waiter. We will definitely go back to the Arno Ristorante the next time we're in New York. Highly recommended that you try it!

Amazing dinner

Amazing dinner on a Tuesday night! Our hotel recommended this restaurant and they were absolutely right! It was early at 5:00 but we were hungry so we arrived without a reservation. We were seated right away and the service start to finish was impeccable. The food was excellent especially the dessert cart! The cannoli was made with puff pastry and was delicious as was the chocolate mousse cake. I would absolutely return next trip to NYC. Thank you for a wonderful meal and dining experience.

Large selection of some very interesting dishes along the old standbys

Very friendly atmosphere and better then average service. The menu was extensive and all that we had was very good. The Saltimbocca was really good as were the baked clams. Cappuccino and Espresso were just OK.

Murdered by the mob

We went to the murder mystery dinner show and loved every minute. We laughed the entire show. The cast gets most of the audience involved in the show. The food was better than we expected for a one meal fits all. We would recommend to anyone ( except little kids )

For a real New York experience take in a show and enjoy one of the most entertaining interactive shows at a great price. The cast were fun and the characters kept you in suspense until the very end. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I would recommend this show.

A Delicious Classic!

From the warm greeting by the maitre'd to the tiered dessert cart... this place is a gem! Recently here with colleagues for a business dinner. The service was impeccable and food delicious. This place is a wonderful step back in time for me to memories of favorite restaurants in Boston's North End. You will not be disappointed by the high quality food and charm of this place. Go to Arno when in NYC!

Not what we were expecting - especially for the money

By MaineTraveler2017 |

We asked our hotel for a recommendation for Italian food and they said Arno's. It was still fairly early on a Friday (~6pm) so we were seated quickly. We were greeted by an older gentlemen who was friendly enough until we said we would drink tap water, not the fancy bottled water on the table. Although it seemed like every other person in the place came to our table (they were a tad over-attentive), we never saw that guy again. My husband ordered veal and I had tortellini. No one explained that the meals didn't come with salad so we never had any. Also, since when does veal parmesan come with mashed potatoes instead of pasta? The portions we so small (and again, no salad) so we actually had room for dessert. Cheesecake for hubby (it was good) and I had a cannoli which was also good, but not like I've had in the past. Two small-portioned dinners without salad, two desserts, and tap water. $120 with tip - too much!

Average meal top prices

You eat out and expect a good atmosphere and good food, this restaurant had neither. We ate in the front section of the restaurant, with few tables and therefore had no atmosphere,it was also cold. Our meal was average. Vegetable soup looked like left overs. Clam spaghetti was tasteless, it's sauce was just canned tomatoes. Wine was poor quality Chardonnay but cost $13 a glass. Our meal cost $98 for a starter, 2 mains and a glass of wine and beer. Waiters were the only good part of the experience.

Cheesecake PLEASE!!!!!!

By triciapom |

Another birthday celebration which started off great, excellent service and good food. But the CHEESECAKE was the star of the show. I have not had cheesecake that good in about 10 years. The taste had me in my happy place, I literally felt as if I was on a journey with each bite that I took. The texture and consistency of it was beyond delightful! Go for the ambiance stay for the CHEESECAKE.

Staff was so kind and knowledgeable and the food was fantastic! We all had fried mozzarella as an appetizer, variations of pasta dishes for our main course and the caramel cake and fried Alaskan for dessert! The staff again was fantastic and the wine selection was perfect. A great evening dinner!
