GREAT WINE SELECTION

By Diana B |

Of course the name speaks for itself but it also has more than wine...I love the chocolate manhaatan. It is always busy and I have never been let down. Great cocktails!

Beaut service

By Bronwen C |

Staying in the hotel next door we called in on 2 occasions, lovely service on both visits. You can sit outside in a heated area, free bread and drink samples, had a lovely cheese board and wine very reasonably priced. 2nd time we visited had a lovely lunch for €11 would recommend the mulled wine

I really liked this place,

By Claudia G |

I really liked this place, close to Penn Station, very attentive staff !!!!! Highly recommend the bruschetta !!!!!!

Relaxing place

By vasile123 |

We had chocolate bonbons and mulled wine. The atmosphere was relaxed and the place pleasantly decorated with Christmas decor, very festive. It created for us a dreamy atmosphere, where we could sit and talk for hours. The mulled wine is strong. I've seen they also have food that look good and nutritious, but we were not hungry, just needed a place to catch up with family.

Came here to celebrate my mums birthday!!

By Mark E |

We had three appetisers - Angry Chicken Lollipops, Crispy baby shrimp dumplings, Lime marinated chicken tacos. Had no more room for mains. Totally satisfied combined with a Brazilan Bellini & a chocolate martini omg lovely.

Great atmosphere friendly and fine food and drink

By Russell M |

Friday night in NYC and we were looking for a restaurant on the evening of my wife’s birthday. We stubbled across the listing and it looked intriguing. From the moment we arrived the front of house were so friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing with great music, We were really looked after and the food and wine were sensational. Definitely recommend

A tasty and aesthetic experience

By TinyTawnty |

We have been to Ayza a couple times before and each time the service and quality has always been great. They recently started a service where you access the menu digitally through your phone, but can also place your food and drink orders through it as well. There is also an option to call your server over if you need any additional help. Our server was always quick to respond and help when needed. Food and drinks were delivered quickly and were very tasty. The hummus, quac and eggplant dip dish, I think it was called Mezza something was very tasty. We also ordered the white sauce pizza which was very good. The only downside was the way it was stacked. It caused the cheese from bottom slices to stick to the slices placed on top. Still tasty though. We also ordered the chocolate fondue which was delicious. Only other downside was that finding non-alcoholic beverages on the menu wasn’t that easy to locate. After calling our server over through the webpage, I ended up finding them hidden under the very long list of alcohol beverages. If the restaurant ever sees this, I’d consider listing non alcoholic beverages in their own tab for easier access. The lychee martini was good. Ordered a sangria as well but it was never delivered. The manager took it off because at this point we were already done with dessert and ready to head out. Overall a great experience and will be back again!

Don’t miss if you ❤️ Chocolate

By Kathy G |

Stopped for chocolate martini and dessert. Was delicious. Presented beautifully. Was a bit noisy but everywhere seems noisy in NYC.

Great little restaurant with good food and attentive service

By willidh |

Discovered this delightful restaurant here on TripAdvisor and was intrigued. There weren't any tables free so the staff set-up a new table for us on the pavement (sidewalk). When the temperature dropped they brought out blankets for us! Starters and mains were interesting, good quality and a decent size. Three of us had a selection of chocolates for desert and one had a more traditional chocolate dessert. I think we would all return.

Small and suprising

By Kirk K |

This is a very small place, and by the name you would not expect meals, but our lunch was very enjoyable. The place is also eclectic, indoor high tops, and outdoor enclosed patio, with heaters. And there are chocolate drinks and desserts, but also regular meals and salads! No worries there.

Great happy hour !

By Vcs2001s |

In the space of just a few days we visited this wine bar 3 times ! What a pleasure it was. A small outside eating area allowed us to enjoy the beautiful spring weather . The appetizer menu was very interesting with the ahi tuna , white truffle pizza and beef sliders being our favorites. The music was also most enjoyable. If you are in this area it’s worth a visit.

a pleasant lunch spot & an affordable meal

By ShannCup |

I have been stopping in at Ayza for almost a decade. It is my hidden gem of a "lunching & thinking spot". You cannot beat their quality and taste for the food choices, or their value (see the $10.95 prixe fixe lunch menu). And always a plus to have the option of sitting outside or inside! In summer, their sangria is refreshing; in winter, their hot mulled wine is warming and delicious. One of the best finds in NYC!

Impressed

By Louise B |

Lovely welcome, atmospheric restaurant, quality food. We sat outside, but with the heating on it was very cosy. Food was tasty and definitely our favourite place in NYC

Great food and excellent hosts

By Grace R |

My elder mother and I stumbled into this restaurant, after a long day walking and sightseeing. We had no recommendation, or information about what to expect. We were greeted with a small complimentary sangria and efficient service. We were there for a week, and I would say it was our best meal. The burger was impressive, and the choc strawberries

insider tip for New York - excellent alternative for Burgers

By Lukas S |

Excellent service and food. Very fresh and delicious food ! great atmosphere at the basement in New York, incredible place to be !

Best food we had in NY

By Katrina B |

We visited NY in the first week of October and kept walking past this popular restaurant on the way home to our hotel, glad we stopped in. It was very busy on the Wednesday night we went and luckily we got a table without booking. The food was delicious! Good wine list and dessert menu as well. Located on a quiet street and well worth going.

A favorite for years

By cujo31 |

I have been coming to this restaurant for years, whenever I'm in the city. But just never wrote a review. It has gone through changes over the past couple of years, shut down for a renovation that made it a little more modern. They have always had some outdoor seating (the inside is quite small, or "intimate" but they have managed to do a good job of shaping that outdoor space for COVID restrictions so you are outside in a covered and heated area. The food menu is simple but good. Lots of sharing options, like meat/cheese platters with lots of choices. I like the wine options but my colleagues go for the martinis. Apparently, the chocolate martini is fantastic! On weekends they have a nice brunch menu. Weekdays the have a happy hour from 4-6. At any time, I think the prices are quite reasonable. Reservations are recommended because the seating is somewhat limited.

Cocktails and lite bites

By Garry F |

Called for a couple of drink and something lite to eat. Shared the Tzatziki and the Shesh Kebab which were ok but a little dry. The drinks were good and I can highly recommend the Manhattan Sour.

I love this place!

By Mary L |

Small, quaint, sophisticated, awesome service and best food & drink! Free tasting of their fantastic sangria. Had a terrific lunch for $12.95. We had a complimentary drink card given to us from The Hotel Wolcott (across the street) which I equally recommend. Restaurant had inside and outside seating. Wait staff is the best! Food is delish! Especially the tomato basil soup and panini with fruit and fresh garden salad. 😋🤗

Adorable

By thefialas2000 |

Met my daughter when she got done with work. I arrived early and had a glass of wine at the bar. Staff was very friendly. Appetizers were served in the cutest little dishes. When my daughter arrived we moved to a table, they served us mulled wine in tiny wooden cups. Delicious flatbread.

Try the dessert!

By Giorgia C |

We had dinner here on our first night in NY, and it's been a pleasant surprise! The salads were original and delicious, the service nice, the place small but beautiful, the wine wasn't that bad. And the dessert... was supreme. I would recommend it for a dinner with friend and for a couple as well.

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC

By Pat A |

I love this wine and chocolate bar. I especially like that you can make reservations. Their turkey panini and tomato soup are amazing together.

Excellent dinner before we

By Kdjd |

Excellent dinner before we headed home on the train. Short walk to Penn Station. There were 6 of us and we decided to share a bunch of appetizers so we had room for dessert. Highly recommend the cheese board, chicken tacos, prosciutto panini, ahi, and mushroom pizza. Ravioli dinner was fantastic. Nice selection of wines by the glass. We were so glad we saved room for dessert. Chocolate fondue was incredible, excellent cheesecake and lava cake. We will be back.

Nice place, think we were unlucky!

By Elleface89 |

Was really looking forward to visiting here after seeing the great reviews, but we got off to a bit of a ropey start! We ordered our drinks / food and noticed that these had been given to the table immediately behind us. We had to point this out to the waiter as he had no idea. The other table took the drinks thinking they were on the house! This led to a delay in getting our wine at the same time as our food which was a bit irritating. The charceturie board was great and so was the wine. The waiter did come over later to apologise for the error.

Great little place def worth a visit!!

By Stephskie2005 |

I had come across reviews for this little place before visiting New York and couldn’t wait to try it. Although slightly out the way it is definitely worth a visit! The restaurant/bar itself it lovely and cosy, it even has a really well heated outside seating area. They offer a two course lunch menu for $10.95 which is fantastic value and the food was really delicious too. As for the drinks... yum! The chocolate martini with the strawberry truffle was absolutely delicious, could of drank them all day! We didn’t get to go during happy hour sadly, otherwise the drinks would be amazing value, but either way I’m glad we visited and if we are back in New York again I would definitely go back.

Heavenly Place

By Renascent T |

Amazing Food, the Chocolates are Heaven Sent, and my partner loved the Martinis. If you are looking for a quiet night with your loved one away from all the hustle and bustle of the city make sure you add this place to your list.

Just wonderful!

By Kate D |

We booked a table here for our final night in New York. What a joy on every way. Beautiful servjce, amazing cocktails, wonderful find and great atmosphere. Highly recommended !

Evening meal

By Jax S |

Nice cosy restaurant. I had a lovely chocolate raspberry martini which I really enjoyed. We both had steaks very nicely done. Finished off with chocolate covered strawberries, delicious. Overall a lovely experience. I was able to purchase one of their cups, black/ red with a cat on the side. Beware tip already included when we received the bill.

Great time!

By MarlboroMan |

I’m from NJ and was out for a night on the town with my wife for our anniversary and we had dinner plans elsewhere but had reservations here at 9pm. Around 730 we realized we should’ve made reservations earlier so I called and they accommodated me and said come in when you can and we will do our best. We got there at 815 and they tried to squeeze us in just so we wouldn’t wait but we opted to wait 10 mins till a table opened up. The hostess continued to check up on us to make sure we were ok and if we wanted anything to drink which was very nice. We were able to sit outside and the service was OUTSTANDING. it was a little tight and we can hear others convos but the food/drinks and service were just that good... I also think that’s just nyc living. The food was great, and the espresso and Malbec were even better. The chocolate wasn’t too shabby either! We will be back for sure.

By chance meal

By Peter B |

It was nice but the fact that we were on vacation it was not well explained that this was a sort of tapas bar theme where you shared dishes and that the portions you were sharing were not really sharing and the cost was a little high if I am honest

Best experience

By Naim Y |

The best dining experience I have ever had in NY!!! Service is perfect, cocktails are OMGG. I will definitely come back here!!

Highly recommended!

By Swverdi |

We were in NYC to see Eric Clapton at MSG. We asked the concierge at our hotel if he could recommend a nice place to have dinner. He suggested the Ayza Wine & Chocolate Bar and shared his favorite dishes. After a hot day of exploring we dropped in and had some wonderful appetizers with drinks. I highly recommend the lime marinated chicken tacos and pulled pork sliders. The menu had lots of interesting choices and we will try them the next time we visit.

Just great!!!

By anniefim |

One of THE best bars in NYC! Fair prices, diverse menu and great attendance. A no-brainer for wine, chocolate and cocktails lovers!!! Try the chocolate martini! HH from 4 to 6.

Brunch

By Yeliz S |

Ayza is the First and Only wine and chocolate bar I came across in NYC! This has been a place I've been frequenting for a while now and they always deliver great food and service. Their chocolate raspberry martinis and sangrias are smooth and not watered down like other places. Inside your martini you’ll find delicious rich creamy chocolate chips! Also, their avocado fries and shrimp dumplings are delicious and to top it off you can dip your savory sumptuous appetizers into yummy sauces! The staff is very friendly and accommodating and I love the nuances of the place. For example, whenever I go there is a new quote related to wine and chocolate on the table which is really thoughtful because you can relate to them. If anyone is thinking of going, I'd recommend going on a Monday, which is jazz night and has a live jazz singer and musician. All in all, my favorite and only wine and chocolate bar in Manhattan!

Great finish to an evening

By Joan F |

Went here on our last evening in New York. The service was excellent. Our waitress gave us great suggestions for both the desserts and wine. Would definitely recommend this place. I loved the cheesecake with chocolate fondue and their signature dessert of crepe brûlée was delicious

Great, quick light lunch that hits the mark on all fronts.

By Bharmon2013 |

I stumbled upon this place while looking for a quick bite before a meeting at 12:30. Glad I did - it is a great place for a very high quality meal - I had the prize fix lunch for an unbelievable $10.95. It is in me opinion , the best value in the area - I had the chicken Lollipops- and Proscuitto mini panini- also includes an arugula salad and a nice small shot of wine. I look forward to many more visits.

Bummed out

By Alana F |

This restaurant was recommended by a bartender at another restaurant so we figured it would be great + the reviews. We made a reservation and didn't get seated until 15 minutes after our reservation. Ok, no huge deal, it was a Friday night. For a wine "bar," you get a choice of 3 sparkling, and one varietal each of white and red. They pick Hess for the only Chardonnay? Color me spoiled from Northern California, but really? Started with the angry chicken lollipops and they were great. I ordered the wild salmon tornado, my wife got the beef skewers. We were both really disappointed. Hardly any flavor to either dish and my wife had to ask for salt. I also bit into 2 lemon seeds and a bone not even half way through the salmon so I stopped eating it. To their credit, when I told the server, they sent a manger over and comped us dessert.....$10. Too bad, it's a hip and cool spot but we wouldn't recommend it.

Best Bar in NYC

By Linda B |

My husband and I discovered this gem when staying in the hotel next door. Since then we refuse to stay anywhere more than a few blocks away from this place. We live in NJ but spend a weekend in NYC every few months and always stop in here for the best chocolate martini's anywhere! Food is excellent here as well. And the bartenders are the best - they always remember us even if it has been some time since our last visit - they make us feel like we are visiting old friends!

The Perfect Combination of Dessert and Food

By pamelaruban |

I am obsessed with this place. Awesome service without overly crowded tables. The location is perfect and so close to a lot of public transit options. The restaurant itself is super sunny with lots of windows and patio space on those great weather days in the summer. So far as the food and drinks go, I cannot believe I found a place with such a great balance of drinks, chocolate, and food. I had the Caprese Panini for lunch with their Spanish Merlot. Both were hits! The bread was fresh and the toast on it was the perfect level of crunch. The mozzarella was melted perfectly and the pesto was nice and salty. Dessert was to die for here. We opted for a plate of assorted chocolates and I loved them all. We will definitely be back here to try breakfast one day. I would suggest this place for small families too, since there is a lot of space (can't believe anywhere in NYC has space) for the kids to stretch out and not lose their minds in cramped places!

Wonderful Brunch

By perplexedpgh |

Stopped at Ayza for brunch as we were in the area and looking for a place to grab a bite. Couldn't have made a better choice. The various options were reasonable priced and there was something for everyone. When our food arrived, everyone raved at how good everything looked. Well, each of us agreed that the food was even better than it looked and we had a wonderful meal. And the portion sizes were very generous as well. Ayza is an excellent value as well as a wonderful restaurant. The service was exceptional. I wish I could recall our waitress' name so I could give her the shout out she deserves. If I get back to NYC anytime soon I will definitely be back at Ayza!

Chocolate Manhaatan

By dlb0726 |

The only place I can get one of these...not too chocolatey either. I prefer up with a tad of ice. It is convenient to the hotel I stay at right next door too!

Popular spot

By KRISTIE M |

We ate hear the evening we arrived, simply because it was across the street from the hotel, but loved it! Small, intimate atmosphere, great food, very lively. Would definitely return.

great food, cute place

By carla_m001 |

We found this place about a block from our hotel, it was great for a quick dinner after traveling all day to get to NYC. Staff was friendly and efficient, food was great. Atmosphere was nice, includes outdoor tables

Wow !

By selliott |

Discovered this gem through Tripadvisor and when on holiday in New York late November from Scotland my friend and I visited a few times. Food and choc martinis to die for ! Will be in New York again for 6 days next December and can’t wait to sample the delights of Ayza again. Staying at the Wolcott too across the road so very handy !

Well worth a visit!

By Trishank R |

Great place! Ambience, service and food are all nice finds in the city; good outdoor seating during the summertime. Chocolate samples are all very tasty!

Amazing brunch

By Tricia316 |

We happened upon this restaurant while looking for a place with vegan options for our daughter. It wasn't crowded at 2pm on a Sunday. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to get some things not on the brunch menu for our daughter. They were on the regular one which was not being served until 3pm. The sliders, avocado fries, ect were delicious. One of the prettiest bathrooms I've ever been in as well. We didn't have any wine or chocolates but others around us did. Everything was gorgeously plated, well priced and wonderful.

Great environment

By MICHELLE C |

Great environment for a meeting of friends, watering with wine and delicious food. Service also very good, excellent location

worth a visit

By Dave D |

Stopped off on the way from the museum to the hotel and we are glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, food and chocolate and you felt welcome and relaxed by the staff. Worth a visit

First visit

By kenv1948 |

Stopped here because it looked nice. I had a great Brunch. Very reasonably priced and both the entree, toasted mozzarella, and salad were great. Very friendly service.

Very nice

By Caroline_Mak |

We went without a reservation and the hostess was more than willing to find us a table to sit. The service was very good in general terms. the waitress really polite and quick. they forgot to bring us an appetizer, no biggie though. I would def recommend this place if you want to enjoy a glass of good wine and hang casually after a stressful day.

Awesome food and lovely staff

By CharlotteEA |

Awesome food, atmosphere and some of the friendliness staff we experienced in New York. The food was really yummy, great selection and quirky outdoor seating in an old trolley!

Perfect for a special occasion with LOTS of wine

By AlexEWebster |

We stumbled across ayza and decided to book it for my birthday dinner the next night. Absolute best decision. The staff were lovely and helpful, the food was stunning and the drinks were top notch. Will definitely visit again next time we’re in NYC!

Superb Dining Experience

By Luke L |

This is a fantastic restaurant! Staff were warm and welcoming and the atmosphere was very chilled out and cool. The food was all exceptional! We would definitely return on a future visit and recommend to anyone wanting a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.

A Lovely Experience

By annabellesunshine |

My sister and I ate dinner at Ayza. I had a delicious signature chocolate martini that was absolutely perfect. We had avocado fries, tomato cheddar soup, and a wonderful salad of arugula, dates, walnuts, apples, and cheese. Every bite we took was great!! The service was also excellent. The hostess noticed that my sister was having some trouble with the barstool height seating, and very kindly helped us move to a better spot. We ate "outside" in a heated patio setting where we could watch all the people walk by. Our waitress, Yessica, was very helpful, patient, and efficient. It was a great way to end our NYC adventure!

Lovely place

By poonamallee |

A lovely place for a leisurely meal with a friend. I live a few blocks away and have been intrigued. So a girlfriend, who is a chocolatier, and I went to an early lunch on a week day. It was a great choice. We sat in the heated patio and it was cozy on a cool-ish day. We started with the complimentary mulled wine, lovely btw. Between the two of us we ordered the hummus, artichoke and the wild mushroom and Mediterranean flatbread. I would have liked to have tried the eggplant one but they didn't have it that day. The presentation was lovely and the food was pretty good. The Mediterranean flatbread was only so so. But the rest of the stuff was quite good. The wine selection is fabulous. The lunch special deal is quite the steal. I would love to go back.

Seems lovely but poor service and broken QR codes

By Out of Office Wanderers |

We came to this bar with high hopes for a post-dinner drink and dessert. We had a table booked, and were seated quickly. From there, things went wrong. Things were explained to us, and the server said he would bring us some mulled wine - this never came. The QR ordering system was simply broken, and it took us nearly 30 minutes to flag down a waiter, who then explained there had been many problems with the system. Whilst contactless menus are a great idea, if you know they don't work, maybe don't rely on them! The wine and chocolates we did order were great, and we had hoped to try going back again to see if the experience was better during the day, but didn't manage to. The atmosphere seems great for an evening drink but sorely let down by the service and technical failures.

Variety of pre-theatre foods to enjoy with your friends

By margaret l |

Appetizers are varied and delicious. If you want a small entree it is available. Save room for a delicious chocolate dessert.

Very cozy and chocolates are delicious

By eren b |

I would love to go there again and eat delicious chocolates. We loved to hang out there. Wine and chocolate is a very good couple.

Late night reservations

By HLO |

Arrived in NYC on Friday night with late reservations. Food was delicious. Wine was very good. Only concern was our waitress was MIA. We kept asking the busboy to help us. We sat outside and it was a good atmosphere. But, having to wait to order a glass of wine at a wine bar was disappointing.

A beautiful date night in Manhattan near Empire State Building

By A C |

A beauty wine bar that has a great deal of wines and Artisinal cheeses. We had a great date night here. My only wish for them to carry Villa di Como’s Limoncello Liquor as an after drink that is our favorite and we ask everywhere we go instead, we ordered a cheesecake that was best we have ever had! Staff is polite and I see the managers making sure that you have a memorable experience. We will be back. Thanks!

New York's best brunch

By Christina E |

I don't know how I stumbled across Ayza Wine & Chocolate but I'm so glad I did. The intimate indoor seating is lovely as is the covered external seating area. Beautiful setting. We chose to dine in the trolley on the roadside as we've never eaten in a trolley before! So glad we did. The food, drinks, music and service were all fantastic. We chose from the $15 brunch menu.

Yum!!

By BMemphis_13 |

Came here for the first time with my two daughters during our Christmas trip after reading Trip Advisor reviews. The restaurant is tiny with just a few tables inside so be sure to make reservations. A heated, enclosed, "tent" was set up during the cold weather for additional seating. We were fortunate to get a table inside and shared a cheese plate, appetizers, salad, wine, and chocolate martinis before going to the ballet. We had a great time here and would love to come back. It was quite loud due to a larger party seated near us and the tables are very close together but that seems pretty common in NYC restaurants. Otherwise, we like it very much:)

Good desserts but…

By orrdin |

Place has good desserts and decent drinks but for a large restaurant to have a single bathroom for men and women makes for a very long wait and it detracts from the experience. Waiting 20 mins to use the toilet is not cool.

Wonderful

By 524kathyw3 |

We came here from Philly on a very hot late August day. We were sitting at a table near the window as the sun beat down. The air conditioner was not working and management seemed to be trying very hard to fix it. Our waitress, Tiffany was very nice in moving us to another table away from the unrelenting sun. She also went into the bathroom with my friend, who was freaked out because the bathroom was small and darkly lit. The happy hour wine 🍷 was great at 5.00 a glass. The avocado fries were different and delicious. I didn’t care for the truffle pizza, and they graciously took it off our bill. Overall a great staff and good customer service! We will come back.

Good options

By Reina B |

Nice place for bites, wine, and dessert with friends and love ones. The avocado fries are amazing. Very fresh and tasty. The dessert menu could provide more variety. I have seen better at other chocolate and wine restaurant in the city. The warm wine shot is great. With the weather in NYC, that’s exactly what we needed. Price is ok. Not pricey

Perfect start to our New York trip.

By KF8867 |

What a welcome. What a menu. Our first day in New York off the plane from London, Ayza was recommended by a Turkish friend of Aytqc and Zafer in London. Only a couple of streets away from our hotel we booked a table and were given an outdoor table on a warm April evening. The food was fantastic, curated by Aytac himself who welcomed us personally. The starters were divine, the white truffle pizza and angry chicken lollipops (what a name!) - the wagyu beefburgers and mushroom pizza with shrimps, cheese selection, the Sonoma Cab, the 20 layer crepe cake, the chocolate fondue, the attentive and warm, friendly service by Milena. Our welcome to New York simply could not be better. Utterly stuffed and regretting my stomach is not bigger. Thank you. This was the perfect first night. Waddling back to the hotel with warm contentment.

Loved it.

By Marci C |

This was on other side of street from hotel Wolcott. Didn't know anything about it but it was close so we gave it a try. Indoor and outdoor seating. We chose indoor as it was so humid. High tables and seats. Lunch was 10.95 for three picks. I got that and my meal was awesome. It actually came with 4 items. Plated nicely. This was the best meal we had in NYC for lunch. I am so pleased we tried it. I would not say kid friendly as it is a bar but I had my 12 year old there and no issues at all. She got cheeseburger sliders and we also got shrimp dumplings. Everyone liked their meal. Salad dressing very tasty and my first fried avocado. I would highly recommend. They also had free wine tasting which they presented as soon as you got there. Nice gem on 31st street between 5th and 6th avenue. This was my favorite meal.

Guilty Pleasure

By Mymilesandsmiles |

Few combinations can beat wine and chocolate. The atmosphere in Ayza is awesome, staff is friendly and very attentive. They have gluten free options, good size menu, everything sounded good it was hard to choose! Great wine (love their white Bordeaux!!!), chocolate martinis, dessert, bread and cheese plates. It was a fun night out, the restaurant is intimate, but not stuffy. A great place for a laid back date or a girls night out

Fantastic place

By debbieent |

We were staying across the road at the Wolcott so decided to go here for dinner one night. The place is always busy and has a buzzing atmosphere. We ordered 4 appetisers between us which was plenty and they were exquisite. The wine was very good too. Really glad we stayed in this area as this little restaurant is a great find

Fun and delicious!

By Cheryl M |

Great place for lunch .. the prefixed menu was great quality food, fresh salad, delicious soups, avocado “fries”.. free cucumber water . Hearty bread and butter . Service was great . Warm and toasty with fun holiday music, free samples of mulled wine too!

As good as it gets

By lghtng50 |

Yeah, this is about as good as it gets. There were seven of us and we spent our last night in NYC here. The chocolate martinis were terrific. I tried both the classic and the raspberry chocolate. The table consensus was the raspberry chocolate was slightly better even though both were fantastic. Everyone was very pleased with their food entres. I had the filet mignon. I was advised to have it done medium. I was hesitant because I like my meat killed before I eat it and don't like it bloody. It was done to perfection. And the au gratin potatoes had a deliciously flavorful cheesy flavor to them. And then there was dessert. Wow. I had the twenty layer crepes cake brulee. I didn't count the layers but they were all great. It almost seemed like a light cheesecake with a brulee crust. You just have to try it to appreciate it. This wine and chocolate bar is definitely on my list of places to visit every time I return to NYC.

Cozy Wine Restaurant

By Nyvette |

Really enjoyed the attention to detail. Our host was very knowleadgable. Made great wine pairing recommendations. A must : Avocado fries and the white truffle pizza. End the night pairing chocolates with your wine. Simply amazing and romantic

Wow…..some superb food.

By DKCO |

Went for dinner and had pre booked…don’t think this restaurant is huge so worth booking. Although small, the dining room was buzzing. Cannot over emphasise that the waitress Olivia was outstanding. She had served us a few drinks a couple of nights before [ in the old ‘street car’ outside the restaurant] we had dinner and it was her who persuaded us to try dinner. Her service was exceptional. The food although simple had flavour that was incredible. It is reasonably priced and the menu is slightly quirky but as I say, the food really was outstanding. Chicken lollipops and burger were worth singling out. Good location too.

What a great experience! We made a last minute reservation and had such a wonderful evening. The choose three for $23 option for cheese/meat tray was worth every cent. The gorgonzola was delicious and garnishes were perfect. The tomato cheddar soup was outstanding and easily the best soup I have ever tasted. Excellent wine selection and friendly service. Easily walkable from many areas. It was 1.2 miles from our hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Times Square (8th ave), but an effortless walk.

So delicious 😋

By vmoralesq74 |

The place is a bit small inside but the area outside is spacious. The servers and hostess were polite and helped us accommodate to a table that we were comfortable with since when we arrived it was full. The drinks were well made. The food was amazing!!!! I had the tuna burger and my friend had the risotto and chicken. They were really good 👌🏼 Overall I liked this restaurant alot. I was to full for dessert (hopefully next time I visit) The only thing I would change is that (outside) you have to order everything and pay before upfront. So, you dont really get the personal experience with a waiter but different waiters were walking around if you needed anything. Will come back!! ❤️

Amazing! Must visit!

By Kev5377 |

I discovered Ayza a few years ago and I've made it a MUST DO every time I get to the city. The chocolate martinis are the best I've ever had. The chocolate truffles paired with each drink are incredible. There is no bad choice on the menu, drinks or food. Service is the best. Go!! You won't be disappointed.

By ReGina G |

Had a chocolate martini, was encouraged to try Ayza by friends. I asked for a peppermint martini but was told it was the special for the day before. Was disappointed that she wouldn't make it for me. Did enjoy the plain chocolate one. The truffle on the side was decadent and so rich I couldn't finish it. Had the pork sliders, were fresh and a small plate so was able to enjoy. Able to sit out on the patio on a beautiful day, VERY small inside.

Wonderful Welcome, Warm Service, Small and Cozy With Great Food

By LMJST |

A shopping and theater trip to Manhattan with daughter and 3 granddaughters, and based on Tripadvisor reviews, we reserved dinner here on our first night. I was expecting something a bit larger and more metro, but was pleasantly surprised at how small and cozy it was. We all loved it! Every dish and dessert ordered, perfect. Very nice wine selections and the pour was generous. Friendly staff, and a particularly handsome young server who was more than accommodating to have his picture taken with three young ladies who were smitten, very sweet.

Fabulous

By Navigate824593 |

My friend and I visited Ayza's wine and chocolate bar by chance, as the hotel (The Wolcott) we were staying at gave us 2 vouchers for 2 free 🍹 cocktails, we loved 'Ayzas' so much that we booked a table for a meal the following night, advice tho, you do have to pre-book as Ayza's does get busy, as the restaurant is small inside, but outside seating is available under cover

small, cramped but extensive wine list and good appetizers

By tms215 |

I like this place for grabbing a glass of wine and appetizers with a friend. No room for larger groups but intimate space for a conversation. Appetizers are unique and tasty

Last meal

By Victoria Groucott |

Came here for our last night in New York. The chocolate martinis are fantastic and definitely not one to miss. We ordered a cheese board to start, we chose 3 cheeses and two cured meats. This was delicious. For or entrees we had the chicken and steak, cooked to perfection. The service was great. I would definitely recommend this place it was a hidden gem

Very Good Place for Dessert

By dlink |

Our family stopped by for dessert after a long day. The selection was very good and very well presented. A nice end to the evening.

Very good

By Nikki P |

The service was exemplary. The food and wine was perfect. I would thoroughly recommend for a visit when you are in NY.

Gorgeous food and ambience

By ClaireabelleRed |

Only popped in for our free drink that we got a voucher for from our hotel but ended up in here for the night for my birthday meal. The food is AMAZING... the brie starter was devine. Gorgeous wine and cocktails too. We sat in the outside area in December which was cosy with patio heaters I loves the vibe. You have to zip the door open and shut, unfortunately two of the members of kitchen staff thought they were above having to do this when nipping out, leaving the zip open and a wind blasting onto customers. Rude and ignorant. We spoke to the manager (We never complain!) as we just wanted her to understand what they were doing and she was very lovely. They put a sparkler in our dessert for my birthday and sent out some chocolate strawberries and a chocolate shot (wish I asked what is was it was lovely!) as an apology for the door incident which was very kind. If you are staying local go. It was raining hard and we only had to stagger over the road.

What could be bad about Chocolate & Wine?!?!?

By Carmela D |

Ayza is an enjoyable moderate restaurant. They have a prix fixe for lunch that is 2 courses and affordable. The food was good. One of my party had the pulled pork sliders and considered them good. Another had the tacos, again a winner. I had the charcuterie plate with the pate, tete de moine and gorgonzola cheese with brown bread and white bread toast. It included caperberries, figs, and strawberries. We all had the Chocolate Manhattan that was quite yummy as well, made with Chocolate Bourbon! They were slow to bring the bill and process the cards, but just ask for it earlier than you really want to leave and you'll be fine.

Easy going and nice live music

By Go100go |

The atmosphere is super relaxed and nice, the music was great and not too loud. The food was ok, but not great.

Romantic spot with Vegan Friendly staff. Great for first dates or a dinner with Coworkers

By Ivan C |

So our founder and CEO had booked a dinner out for the staff at this venue. Being the only Vegan at the company It was late notice that I was the only one in the party that would need to be accommodated. The staff was quick to provide options and made me feel like everyone else. No fuss over me but accommodated the best they could. The owner actually stopped by to wish us a good evening, which is super impressive in my book. I highly recommend as this was my first time but not my last. they even had vegan chocolate for me! What a treat. So blessed to have enjoyed a night here. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

What a great find! Cocktails & chocolate

By kanddhanson |

Such a lovely place for cocktails (or wine) plus some delicious food or desserts. I’d already eaten so opted for the choc covered strawberries with a cocktail (it was happy hour after all!). 5 star :-)

Great stop before the theatre

By Keith W |

My wife and I made a reservation prior to a broadway show on a Friday night. We arrived 15 minutes early and even though the restaurant was packed, they sat us immediately. The samples of mulled hot wine were really good. The sangria was okay, but the chocolate manhattan was delicious! The appetizers came quickly and were very good. The warm brie in crouton was our favorite. The dessert menu looked great, and we opted for 5 pieces of chocolate from two different chocolatiers they serve. The chocolates were decadent and filling. In all it was a great start to the night out.

Lunchtime

By Bella S |

I thought it was a big place but it’s not that big. It’s nice place with heated outdoor patio. Food was delicious and the staff there was friendly

Cool vibe, great service and my new favorite Manhattan

By MilesandMeals |

Perfect end to the night at Ayza Wine & Chocolate Bar. Outdoor table, cool crowd, and the twenty-layer crêpes cake brûlée and the chocolate Manhattans were delicious! I will be thinking about those Manattans for a long time! Our waiter was super charming — wish I remembered his name (he may have been French if that helps). Great spot and will absolutely return!

A decadant meal

By ladycat1170 |

We walked by this restaurant on the way to the hotel we were staying at and made note so we could return to it. The food was great, but the wine and chocolate pairings made this be a fantastic choice for a meal. We basically had desert first and then our meal. A little pricy, but the splurgewas worth it

Divine chocolate

By Darbi B |

My husband and I went for dinner. We tried two wine flights and the wine was OK... The Jacque Torres chocolates that came with the flight was divine, though. We ordered some small plates and the food was tasty. It was a fun night out, the restaurant is intimate, but not stuffy. A great place for a laid back, but romantic night out.

Best NYC Wine & Chocolate bar.

By Caspiana7 |

We always have the best time @ayza. Their lamb chops were delicious, as was the side and our appetizers. Their chocolate martinis are to die for and the chocolates on the menu are actually the best I’ve tried. Ambience is overly cozy and romantic. Totally recommended.

Always a great time

By MrsBones2013 |

07/13/19: Girls Night!!! Another night at AYZA. This little spot....When I say little it is really small but packs a punch! This place is truly one of our faves. Samantha was our waitress this time and she provided excellent service by quickly placing our orders for drinks and meals didn’t have to wait long for anything ! Great food, great drinks and great deserts. What more does a girl want. The best part about AYZA for me is it’s location you can take a break from shopping step right in sit outside or inside with their large wine selection you can fine something for everyone. The entire staff is super nice everyone steps in to help out a little with removing finished items from the table, refilling water, checking to make sure everything is okay and they always remember the magic word “another” round - yes please ! Sorry forgot to take new photo’s Here is what we had: - classic chocolate martinis - mushroom ravioli

Great atmosphere, average food

By Alisa S |

We went there for a dinner and drinks with friends. The drinks, atmosphere and service were all great but the food was mediocre. I ordered a vegetable panini and my significant other ordered a mushroom ravioli, both were okay but not impressive for the price.

Wine and Chocolate at Excellente

By A C |

I have been here three times already on different occasions. You can tell how nice this wine bar from outside details in design. They a front patio and inside has a magical ceiling lights. Their bathroom is also very cool. The staff is attentive and they offer cucumber flavored nice water at tables. Their wine selection is large and prices are moderate for their location. I had ordered dinner and shared plates. Fried avacado plate is out of this world. The chocolates and the cheesecake was exceptional. There is a lot of love and attention to details at Ayza. I am very happy to share my positive experiences on here. See you next time when I am in NYC area! Salute!

Excellent wine bar & restaurant

By StephenCross |

Really cool place with a great buzz. Food is good, although we just had starter portions and wine. Service is good and ambiance / music good. Great converted rail carriage style outdoor diner as well. Recommended.

HH is until 5:30 on Fridays

By Melanie T |

*Review for drinks only* Came in one Friday afternoon (before MDW) for happy hour, which is 3 pm to 5:30 pm ($5 wine/beer;$8 cocktails). BF and I had a pretty good experience - we got a table right away, service was quick, and they even gave us a sampling of their sangria (which I didn't like, but it was still a nice gesture). I had the rose, which was nice. It wasn't your standard cheap house rose that most other places would serve you during happy hour. Based on this, would definitely come back for some more HH dranks!

Hidden Gem!

By scuba6 |

Having eaten at a variety of establishments over the course of multiple visits, we are happy to have found Ayza! I found Ayza by chance while doing an online search while looking for a place to eat other than the same old type of place. Ayza had an interesting menu with great drink selections so we made reservations. Suffice it to say we were not disappointed! Ayza is located just about 3 blocks or a 2-3 minute walk from Macy’s Herald Square. There is indoor and outdoor seating which is completely enclosed in the winter with heaters (think Parisian Cafe style!) which immediately delighted us! We opted to sit in the ‘outdoor’ section and loved the natural light and, once becoming dark out, a very nice low light touch. We began with drinks of course and I had a chocolate strawberry martini and my 17 year old daughter the hot chocolate...both were amazing! I’ll also mention that I can take or leave chocolate so this is saying something! We ordered the spicy chicken lollipops as an appetizer and then for main entrees, the mushroom filled ravioli with pesto and the filet. Both meals had a sufficient proportion of food and were just excellent! The filet was tender and cooked to our liking and the ravioli was very tasty! We then opted to split the chocolate fondue which came with strawberries, bananas, rice krispy treats, and full size marshmallows for dipping...decadent and delicious though very rich! Just a few additional things. The menu for dinner is limited with probably 5ish meal choices however the taste and presentation is amazing! There are a number of boards and platters and appetizers which make the perfect bites to go with drinks. It appears that lunch is served weekdays offering sandwiches and paninis and brunch is served from 11-3 on weekends. Service was prompt, pleasant, and very efficient...I don’t think I ever asked to have my water refilled...cucumber water by the way...very refreshing!! We also had to purchase two mugs which gave the outline of a cat on each! I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit Ayza even if just for drinks and finger foods. We will definitely be back!!!

Great experience! Wonderful food and wine!

By Ashley L |

I went here one night when I was in NYC for a girls night. Made last minute reservations on Open Table. We had to wait like 20 minutes which was not bad at all for how many people there were and how little space there was. While the place it TINY they make the best use out of the space they have. Our waitress was wonderful. The food and wine were FANTASTIC. We got a meat and cheese platter and then the dark chocolate fondue for dessert. Paired everything with the chenin blanc wine. I would go back again in a heartbeat!!

LOVE, LOVE it!

By jessieg09 |

My husband, friends and I are all wine lovers and when we first found out about Ayza we had to go and try it out, it was better than we expected. the 1st time we went, we just had desserts and wine and it was AMAZING! the pairings were great (our server suggested what wine would go with our desserts, very helpful) the second time we went for my birthday with a larger group, we had dinner, wine and desserts and every person at the table loved everything, we are already planning our next visit.

Excellence in innovation

By Drkkmac |

I cannot rave enough about this restaurant! The wild mushroom pita is one of the best things I have eaten in my life!! Mu hubby and I shared the tray of 5 assorted cheese, etc and it was excellent! We shared a flight of the red “velvety” wines and had the owner choose for us….could have have asked for more. Then, in spite of ourselves, we ordered the chocolate fondue and the crepe brûlée crepes. Afterwards, we waddled back to our hotel! Such a fun place and great idea!

Wine and chocolate to have both

By Chmpgnrose |

The end of the business day has concluded The beginning of the evening has commenced Chocolates and wine Happy Hour An intimate wine and chocolate bar with both indoor and outdoor seating. As the day concluded it left me very weary but Ayza brought me back to life. My server Dragana is attentive and knowledgeable. Menu for chocolate, food and drink is extensive. A fake resident whimsical cheshire cat sits at the bar counter and appears to be the central theme in a silhouette. Business cards are available for grabs. The bottom of the bill contains gratuity suggestions of 18%, 20% and 22% without the customer to perform math calculation. Nero d'Avola (Sicily, Italy) $5 Dry red wine of a cherry or ruby red color and slight acid. The aroma is standard of fruity with a strong reminiscent of blackberries. It is warm and full-bodied. Like any red wine, this is served at ambient temperature. Alizé Hearts Of Passion, Jacques Torres $2.50 per piece Milk chocolate and smooth Champagne Strawberry, Chocolate by Cioccolada $3 per piece Dark chocolate with a slight flavor of champagne.

Happiest Happy Hour

By L3404XJemilyd |

With a great selection of $5 Happy Hour wines this is the perfect spot to go alone or a with a group for an early HH (3-6). Perfect if you are looking for the NYC vibe without the massive crowds.

Why not make it known you are closed??

By Amanda P |

Made a special visit to this spot this week and found out they were closed for renovations. I looked at their website prior to putting this place on my itinerary and there was nothing about being closed. We were so disappointed.

Excellent chocolate martinis

By meryll83 |

Possibly the best chocolate martinis I’ve ever had, made with a generous serving of real chocolate shavings on top.

Must visit ❣️

By Plittleone |

First, reserve your spot. Secondly, show up- if not you loose your spot .and you're charged- according to their website. It's a very popular hole in the wall. However, phenomenal dessert and cocktail place with excelente service. My friends and I went as our final evening todo. We ordered dark chocolate covered strawberries, all chocolate earthquake cake and the cake brulee . Each of ordered a drink. Everything was top notch. Staff friendly and very helpful. Music and atmosphere well blended.

Just perfect!

By Marije1995 |

Nicest people, best food and cozy terrace! I liked everything about this place. The prices are good and it was worth every dollar. Came back 2 times!

Great little restaurant

By ccsfamily |

We ate here our last night in NYC. It is a very small place inside, but it was a nice evening and we sat outside. They gave us all samples of their homemade Sangria which was good. The food was good. We had salads and sandwiches and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Best chocolate martini in NYC - Happy hour!

By MrsW |

Best chocolate martini in NYC. We were recommended this bar and drink by another local bar. Take advantage of happy hour 4-6pm.

Amazing dining experience

By @lawyer.traveler.dreamer |

Check out my I G lawyer.traveler.dreamer for more footage of our dining experience: Visited Ayza Wine & Chocolate Bar in Koreatown last week, and it quickly became one of my favorite spots for a cozy night out in NYC! The vibe is warm and romantic, with live music, fine wines, handcrafted cocktails, and handmade chocolate all in one place. We kicked off the evening with cocktails—an espresso chocolate martini for me (rich, smooth, and perfectly sweet) and a virgin mojito for my friend. Midway through, the bartender surprised us with a complimentary mango cocktail, which made the night even better. We shared a delicious cheese board with five types of cheese: • Shropshire Blue – sharp and creamy • French Brie – soft and buttery • Creamy Gorgonzola – bold and smooth • Herb Goat Cheese – fresh and flavorful • Aged Manchego – nutty and dense Then we dug into three flavorful shareable plates: • Zesty lemon garlic baked shrimp – tender and full of citrusy heat • Fig berries burrata – a perfect balance of sweet and tangy • Smoky octopus tostada – crisp with a smoky depth We ended with five handmade chocolates, which were divine! Ayza’s “dine under the stars” atmosphere, complete with mood lighting and great music, truly makes the experience feel special. Highly recommend adding this gem to your NYC food and wine list!

Not for Entree

By C & R |

Visited this restaurant yesterday ( June 3) with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday. Everything was amazing until we got the entree. What a disappointment * Drinks: We had tropical sangria and chocolate martini .... These 2 were DELICIOUS !!! * Appetizers: Ordered Angry Chicken Lollipops and Crispy baby shrimp dumplings .....Both were good. * Entree: Filet Mignon & Roasted herb chicken breast.... What a disappointment. The filet was supposed to be medium cooked not frozen style, including the sides were as cold as an iceberg. The chicken was dry and flavorless. The only thing that was enjoyable was the risotto the accompanied the chicken. *Service: It was excellent.

Wow

By dannerin |

What a great find, thanks to our daughter for recommending it. The food was great, happy hour was fantastic, and the service amazing. Haven’t had such a positive experience in a while.

Nice surprise

By JerseyJoePa |

While looking for a place in the neighborhood we saw this place and decided to give it a try. Service was very good. Quick and attentive. Menu had a wide variety of appetizers, salads, and other small plates but a limited entree menu. The steak was a common choice and was tender, though slightly over cooked. Mushroom ravioli was very flavorful. Decent wine list and reasonably priced. Dessert was the highlight. Everything we had was excellent. Great cheesecake and fondue. Would highly recommend coming here for Dessert and bottle of wine. Dinner was good but a notch below the dessert. Very limited table seating inside, but not too loud. Outside is covered and the better choice if eating dinner. I would go back for chocolate fondue and bottle of wine.

2nd visit, even better than the first!

By Andrew B |

So I came here a year ago by myself for the famous chocolate pizza which was great! This year I returned with my partner, as a cute lunch/brunch date on our last day in NYC. It didn't disappoint! I had a malbec and the steak/eggs lunch which is AMAZING and my partner had the choc mint martini (I think) and a panini/sandwich. Great service, lovely restaurant, would visit tomorrow if I could!

Ayza is a YES!

By CristyS |

OMG! Where do I begin! This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in New York City. If you love chocolate, then you must come here. Their chocolate martinis are the best I've ever had! I've also tried their strawberry chocolate martini, which is just as good. All drinks are paired with chocolate truffles. They offer a great lunch special, I recommend their pulled pork sandwich and smoked eggplant puree. Their cheese plate is on point. Ayza is the perfect place for a night out, a draw night, a brunch etc... with both indoor and outside seating year round. And dont forget to try their desserts, you won't be disappointed either.

Wedding meal!

By ClaireM53 |

We wanted something that was us for our wedding meal after our elopement and this exceeded expectations. The service was amazing. The food fanastic would love to eat here again

Great Ending

By Greenford8 |

For something unique and different the Ayza Wine and Chocolate Bar is the place to visit. The selections range from the decadent to the extraordinary. The service is helpful but not intrusive and the suggestions are worth listening to. Don't have desert at your restaurant but come instead to Ayza.

Great little bar and restaurant away from the chaos

By Simon M |

We stayed on W 31st and this bar/restaurant was just across the road. It was a real haven from the chaos just around the corner on Broadway and around Macey's and the Empire State. It's not cheap (what is in New York) but the service, drinks and food are excellent. Great for lunch or taking a breather in mid-town.

Perfect 50th Anniversary Dinner

By suemar1969 |

We had dinner at this most lovely restaurant on a recent trip to NYC to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. There are not enough adjectives in my vocabulary to adequately describe our evening! The food was delicious, the drinks amazing, the wait staff caring, polite and professional, and the manager beyond awesome!! He made our evening extra-special. We will long remember this romantic and unique restaurant and the wonderful people who work there!! Thank you just does not seem enough!

Great food

By kareng |

Try the Chocolate Martini too. Next to the new Life Hotel which is how we found it! Very busy but the food is worth the wait!

Great happy hour

By huntjump |

Great happy hour, cheese board and chocolate fondue. Delicious. Wine on the happy hour menu was very good. Nice ambiance.

Delicious!

By Donna H |

We came for dinner and also enjoyed sangria and dessert. Everything was quick, delicious, and well prepared and well presented. Such a great find!!

unique concept restaurant

By Jayen Shah |

Lunch set menu was great. Great choice for vegetarians too. I liked my vegetarian dish of flatbreads + salad + hummus dip. Great ambience, both inside and outside with friendly service. Next time, I am definitely going to engage in wine-tasting & chocolates.

Best Meal I've ever had in NYC!

By Shieldmaiden088 |

My girlfriends and I were in the city for a quick trip and decided we wanted to treat ourselves after a day of walking and enjoying The Morgan Library and Museum. The atmosphere in Ayza is awesome, staff were friendly and very attentive. They have gluten free options, good size menu, everything sounded good it was hard to choose! Great wine, chocolate martinis, dessert, bread and cheese plates. I had the roasted lamb chops and it was absolutely delicious, I desperately want to know the secret to the potatoes because they were incredible! Pretty reasonably priced if you're looking for a good place to splurge and treat yourslef, it is WELL worth it!

Awesome Drinks, Nice Atmosphere

By Michael_Corey77 |

We sat outside in the tent area. The staff is very nice. Drink selection is excellent. The cheese platter outstanding. The staff is very laid back. So when you need another drink, you may have to flag them down.

Charming Find in Midtown

By Thomas D |

My wife and I found ourselves in Midtown with some time on our hands as part of a family outing. A quick TripAdvisor search turned up Ayza’s menu. They had us at the Honeycomb Fig Burrata. It and the rest of the menu lived up to our expectations. I have some issues with my my mobility that can make some restaurants a bit challenging. We sat on the covered patio which was accessible. The staff was very accommodating. We had a great meal and experience and will definitely go again the next time we’re in New York.

Lovely place in the middle of the city.

By Metin O |

Great food with great ambiance, lovely place in the middle of the city. Wine and chocolate pairings are awesome.

Wonderful lunch.

By Stew the Traveler |

Restaurants are judged by the quality of their food, how it is presented, the ambiance and the service they provide. All of the above happened today. In addition they have a very reasonably priced lunch special. Highly recommended.

Make reservations! So cute and good!

By Tck6373 |

Wonderful little place to enjoy food wine, appetizers and chocolate martini! Great date night. No recommended for kids

Sister Getaway

By cmacdonald05 |

I made reservations prior to arriving for dinner and upon arrival, our table was already ready. I’m glad because it looked like a full house! The menu has a wide variety and all items are well priced. My sister also had a chocolate martini and loved it! Desert was scrumptious and because we were celebrating a birthday, they added sparklers to it when delivered which was a pleasant surprise as well!

Outdoor seating in Winter

By ☆WANDERLUST in Me☆ |

Cool experience for sure. We sat in the tented area on the sidewalk and ate a lovely dinner. We chose the burger sliders with side salad. Good service, great location, good food. No chocolate this time.

Cocktails & dessert

By Charlotte T |

We stumbled upon this place after leaving Madison Square Garden, on the way back to our hotel. We enjoyed dessert and drinks so much that we had to return on our final day to try some more! The place has plenty of outdoor seating under canopy & has a happy hour on drinks, I think on weekdays 3-5pm? Try the chocolate earthquake cake & the lychee martini....yum!

Excellent Wine Bar for Post Theatre

By SadieEdmonton |

This was our first time at Ayza and we couldn't be more pleased with the experience. Reservation process, location, ambience, food, drinks -- all excellent. Service was Excellent +. We reserved for 6 of us at 10:00PM on a Thursday and were able to sit outside until after midnight. Our Server, Dragana was friendly and more than attentive. At the end of the evening it was unanimous - Ayza is a place that we would have as a tradition on a return to NYC. Thanks Ayza!

Good Food with Lovely External Seating in Repurposed Trolley Bus

By FarmBoyYorkshire |

Arrived >9 on first night in NYC on recommendation of hotel concierge and although close to kitchen closing they were happy to seat us - we had a table in a converted trolley bus outside on the road which was a little different - in a good way. We decided just to go for a selection of appetizers to share which turned out well - they were lovely - especially the Lime Marinated Chicken Skewers which was a good size (although not cheap). Staff were friendly, food arrived in good time. Wasn't particularly aware of it's high ranking of this place, but got a glimpse of why just from the appetizers. Enjoyed it.

Wine and Chocolate - what can be bad??

By Rochelle647 |

My husband and I stumbled across this restaurant as we were walking back to our hotel. Wow, what a nice find. The menu, though relatively small, was delicious we both had different salads with chicken. The drinks were scrumptious, the earthquake dessert yummy and the service was excellent.

Light bites, good desserts

By schmutaki |

Stopped by here for dinner after a matinee show. Tasty appetizers and delicious desserts. Service was top notch. The restaurant is a bit small and tight with only high top tables inside and but lots of outdoor seating. Pretty place.

Loved it. Decorated so cute.

By nugget89 |

Loved it. Decorated so cute. So many tasty choices! Waitress was pleasant. Cozy. Romantic. Quiet. Mulled wine was great.

Impulse

By dmarun |

This has such a cute, inviting look to it that we stopped while walking by and, after reading the menu selections and being able to be seated, cancelled prior dinner reservations (in retrospect, a mistake). It began with stoned faced servers (which was funny because when two attractive females were seated beside us, the same server was animated and all smiles). Ok, not such a great start so it could only get better...right? Well, this "wine bar" has a very limited selection so one would think the turnover would be great. Not so. Our red wines (seems like most patrons were drinking white) had obviously been open for more time than would ensure palatable pleasantry. The food itself was ok, nothing special. Overall, this was a regrettable impulse stop.

Chocolate heaven

By Suewho50 |

This was a great find , the food menu was great & portions were a perfect size for me as I don't have a huge appetite. Staff were friendly , drinks were amazing , try the chocolate martinis , you get a delicious chocolate with it ! Wish there had been more places like this , would highly recommend

They had me at chocolate martini

By MrsBrobbey |

I went here for a dinner date with a few girlfriends. We loved this place. I am already looking forward to my next visit. We sat outside since it was such a lovely day. The location isn’t the greatest but who cares since the food and the drinks are so delish. We all had different flavors of the chocolate martinis. My favorite is either the expresso or the raspberry. Its a bit pricey b/c its NYC but worth it. My friends loved the shrimp dumplings as an app, they ordered 2 of them. I had the ravioli for dinner mmm. Go and enjoy, cheers!

Average

By camilleyummy |

Place is average , restaurant is cute but the view face a garage and huge trash dumpsters. Food is good but quite expensive for the portions. Wasn't one of my favorite experience in the city. Didn't hate it either i think the concept is a good idea, only i think they could make it way better. Enjoy !

AGAIN - POOR SERVICE / GOOD WINE

By FrankCGlazer |

AGAIN, not an adult in sight! Kids who know NOTHING about service and customer attention are in charge here. The wine was excellent, so if you want to relax and wait for service with a good glass of wine this is your place. BUT NYC is full of good places.

Hidden Extraordinary Dining/Celebrating Experience

By VineyardKathy |

My daughter turned forty years old on June 29, 2019. She has overcome so much pain and hardship since she was five years old. My husband & I along with her older brother wanted to celebrate this milestone in grand fashion.Unfortunately, our wallet was not grand! I searched on TripAdvisor for the perfect spot to celebrate & was pleasantly surprised to find this gem! We wanted to include relatives who live in CT but would love to be treated to a special dinner in NYC. I contacted Ayza and they could not have been more accommodating. There were twenty-eight of us with vegans, gluten-free dieters & vegetarians among us & Ayza fed us more than we asked for! The food was amazing, the atmosphere incredible and the service was impeccable. The drinks were creative & memorable. My guests asked me how I was able to find such a fantastic place & I truly felt that my party was the proverbial "homerun". Our party was outside under the stars but when a few drops of rain fell, the retractable roof covered us. When the rain passed, we were, once again, treated to the stars. Every single staff member from the owner to the bus boy smiled at us and gave us the utmost attention. The vibe in this intimate establishment was one of "belonging" - we really felt a part of their family! All of the servings were filling and very tasty. We had the angry chilcken pops, the avocado fries, the flatbread pizzas, the mini sandwiches, the homemade hummus and much more!

Could have been better

By amp4991 |

My overall reaction to my experience at Ayza restaurant is that it’s simply alright. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on a weekend, and it was moderately busy. We ended up having 4 different waiter’s which made us a bit reluctant leaving a tip because we were not quite sure who it was going to. As for the food I ordered a prosciutto and fig Panini while he ordered a ham and cheese Panini, which were both mediocre. Unfortunately the menu is very limited after a certain time, so we did not have a large selection to choose from. I did, however, enjoy their wine and chocolate selection. I ordered the “White Out” which came with a sample of Moscato and Riesling along with three different types of white chocolates. The wine sampling was probably the highlight of my experience at this restaurant.

Great!

By Annereis |

We were immediately received very hospitably A very nice evening. We will definitely be back. Great food and drinks.

Great experience, wine & dessert

By Jennifer A |

Our waitress was wonderful to us and gave us great suggestions for wines and dessert. I had the chocolate wine which was great and my husband and I split the Chocolate Earthquake Cake. Best dessert we had in NYC. It was wonderful and obvious that they use top notch ingredients to make it. The atmosphere was great, very romantic. We chose to set outside under an enclosure and they had heaters turned on above us. It was very cozy. All staff was super kind to us. We would definitely come back here again.

Happiest of Happy Hours

Ayza is a favorite restaurant for my friends and family. Although I skipped the Chocolate Martini for which the restaurant is known; Prosecco and appetizers were a delicious alternative. We sat in the outdoor heated space. I have also eaten in the trolley acquired during the initial stages of the pandemic. The indoor space is small but most tables seat four people comfortably. I visit Ayza every time I visit NY. I highly recommend this space for fun.

Heavenly! Must Go!

My wife and I had a glorious brunch here. The setting was amazing and the food was exceptional. We were able to sit outside in the shade, practically on the sidewalk, but there’s also an indoor/outdoor space that’s exquisite. The drinks were to die for, the food, amazing, and the dessert flan was extraordinary. We had a minor hiccup with our food arriving before our fancy drinks, but it was such a nice day. We didn’t care check out the photos to get a sense of how magnificent this place is.

A hidden gem you definitely have to check out!

We were staying at a hotel nearby and were given a coupon for a free glass of wine at this quaint, stylish bar, so decided to give it a try. Look for the streetcar when arriving at this spot on 31 Avenue in Manhattan! The restaurant offers seating inside, as well as a cozy indoor area, or a covered patio. We chose to sit inside as it was quite warm. We were greeted by the beautiful and outgoing Olivia. She seated us promptly and gave us a run-down of the restaurant. The drink menu is vast and well-priced, and the food menu is packed full of options for everyone. From tasty salads (I had the goat cheese salad) to creative appetizers, to cheese and chocolate plates, this restaurant has a bit of everything you would expect to find in Manhattan. We actually went twice to this location. On each occasion, we tried something different. The second time, was my birthday, and the staff kept the birthday gifts coming, with prosecco, and even chocolate covered strawberries with a sparkler. They also have nights with live jazz... definitely check that out, as it was great entertainment. We are looking forward to heading back soon. Go check this spot out!

Chocolate martinis. Oh my God!!! Love this place

By Antonio GP |

This place is certainly one of the best cocktail places I have ever visited. Night 1 - I was looking for some place to have dinner. Had an awesome salmon. The best salmon dish I have ever tasted (and I’m a big seafood restaurant lover as you can see in my reviews). Got a lychee martini. Then a chocolate one. Omg what a discovery! Night 2 - came back only to drink martinis. This place has the best cocktails ever!!! You need to try their chocolates too. They have various tiny chocolates to try and you should try them all. This is insane. Love it! Plus you may he lucky enough to have Gem as a waiter. He is not only knowledgeable in what he advises, he is also smoking hot! Totally recommend this place. Has made me so happy. I think I’ll come back tomorrow!

Fabulous Time!

The food is excellent, the restaurant is not just about chocolate

This place happens to be right next door to our holiday accommodation, but after sampling the food and atmosphere last night at dinner, we would happily have travelled half way across town (traffic permitting😁) to eat here. Loved the food choices - both ‘spicy’ and not so spicy available, and best of all, the waitress was extremely helpful (part time actress) at advising us which meals and starters would go well together. I had the avocado steak fries as a starter - delicious, followed by wild salmon tornado on a bed of spinach mashed potatoes. The salmon tornado, was a novel take on the standard steak form and I’d never had spinach mashed potato, loved them both. The meal was rounded off with a warm chocolate molten cake done to perfection. We ordered a glass of red wine. The Spanish Garnacha was quite cool and we questioned this. The team advised us that it was normal to serve this red wine slightly below room temp and......we loved it!! I have not yet mentioned the chocolate. The deserts all seem to have a chocolate bias, and if keen, one can do a chocolate tasting with chocolates from various specialists. There are also chocolate martinis available. But the good news is that the chocolate is not the sole agenda at this restaurant, the food is just as good. Also, good news for non Americans.....I didn’t see any Hershey chocolate on the menu🤣🤣🤣 We thought the price of $123 inc was reasonable by New York standards and included the 18% tip.

Delicious

Been to Ayza many times and always have a great experience. The chocolate raspberry martini is my go-to and the avocado fries are delicious. Love the happy hour, just wish I could get out of work earlier more often to enjoy it!

great lunch deal - $12.95 US

By kathmandu91 |

Outdoor or indoor seating next to Life Hotel. Lunch for under $13.00 includes a choice of appetizer and main. portions not large - it is lunch ! tastes are great. I chose to have a $13.00 glass of wine with the lunch. Your call - eat cheap without wine - or indulge for $26 plus tip.

A Happy Hour Gem

By MassFamilyTravelers |

Stopped in for spur-of-the-moment afternoon refreshments with girlfriends and was delighted by a lovely selection of wines by-the-glass, apps and elevated bar snacks. Excellent and attentive service with outdoor umbrella seating places Ayza high on my list the next time I'm in midtown.

Great value happy hour w quality wine.

Saw it by chance - 3pm to 6pm with quality European wines at $5 (normally $11 & $12). Gratis snacks (the high humidity - 90% - got to them). Several private label chocolates available at a fair price - set the wine off well. Monday at 6:30pm even saw live Spanish folk to accompany our light-headedness. We’ll come back here. Small menu but prices looked very fair for NYC.

Pretty little bar

Really pretty, quirky little bar near Empire State. Our hotel was round the corner so we popped in here for snacks and a refreshment after a long flight. Loved the look, food was delicious and the drinks were so pretty. Definitely worth a wee stop off here. Staff were lovely too.

My friend and I were staying at Wolcott Hotel and they had given us a voucher for free drink. As it was just across road we have it a go. Lovely little place where you can sit outside under cover now. Went back a couple of times for set lunch which was excellent. On our last day the waitress who's name we didn't get gave us a free dessert as we were going home! They keep your glasses constantly topped up with water. We never managed Happy Hour between 3pm and 6pm weekdays as we were busy sightseeing!

Pre theatre dinner

By Elaine M |

Booked online for dinner pre theatre. Restaurant is small and cramped, but staff friendly and food was great. Tables very close to each other which is a bit off putting. Reasonable price for this part of town.

Entrees: meh

By unknown48713 |

Disappointing chicken. Beef "skewers" were some sort of weird sausage. Other stuff OK, but badly overpriced for mediocre entrees.
