Great Sunday Brunch

By Michael L |

Our family found B2 Harlem by chance and we were not disappointed. My wife said the coconut lime pancakes were the best pancakes she has even eaten. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside and not drenched in syrup. Our daughter had the mussels and our son had the steak and eggs and enjoyed it very much. I ordered the pea soup but it was not available and received instead a corn chowder that was exceptional. We were surprised by the quality of the food. The restaurant is relatively small, the waitstaff very professional and it was a very pleasant dining experience.

Best restaurant I had never heard of!

I'm in NY often, always stay at the Aloft hotel in Harlem. This area has lots of new restaurants, some quite good. I was on my way to a great "Noveau Hip" Mexican place, but it has been discovered and it was full and noisy! So I went around the corner and like magic! B2! A romantic place, with attentive staff and absolutely wonderful food and drinks! I wanted something light for dinner and ordered the vegetarian option (I'm not a vegetarian!). I was thrilled with the cauliflower steak with cauliflower purée, blood orange, capers and I don't even know what else. It was a feast of flavors and textures. The glass of white wine they chose for me was perfect. Lovely place which I want to keep to myself but I also want it to survive on its side street in a competitive market.

Great food, great drinks and great atmosphere

I highly recommend B2. It is a neighborhood gem. The food and the drinks have a very special delicious touch. I've been several times and I love it every time. I was there last night and had some great dessert and drinks. It was perfect for a night out for friends. I recommend it!

Happy Hour Cocktails

Love the background music, not too loud. The ambiance is peaceful. The cocktails are creative, well mixed and so good. Lovely afterwork spot to continue the project discussions.

Fun atmosphere with great options

Visited here twice, back in Jan and then again in Mar. Both times had reservations, first time sat at the bar and the bartender was great, she was friendly and it was fun to watch her work. Second time sat at a table and they had a DJ that started shortly after arriving. And man, was it loud! So loud...hard to have conversation, so next time I'd sit outside as it wasn't as loud. If you don't mind not talking...inside is fine. Just no reason to have it be that loud. Anyhoo, first time had the Lobster & Shrimp hash and it was so delicious...if I could lick the plate without getting stared at, I would have. Second time got the Chicken & Pancakes which the pancakes were delicious however the chicken was over fried and a bit crispy. Should have sent it back..but it took a while to get service so didn't want to continue to wait. Didn't give 5 stars due to the chicken not being consistent as my table mate had it the prior visit which came out perfectly cooked. I'll keep on the short list for brunch options, knowing about the DJ on Sunday and sitting outside as well as bar seating vs table due to slow service.

What happened to B2??

By Lee G. |

After thoroughly enjoying B2 on previous occasions, my family and I returned for a third time this past Saturday night. It was like we entered a different restaurant. I don't know if there are new owners, but food and service was nowhere near the quality of the restaurant that we had attended (and enjoyed) in the past. The restaurant had one large party, and some of the tables were filled, but it wasn't packed. As we looked at the menu, we realized it had drastically changed. But that was fine. The 3 of us all found something to order. We ordered--3 appetizers and 3 dinners. I watched as the waitress wrote down the 3 appetizers. Yet, mysteriously only one appetizer appeared. As to the wine, the waitress brought it out from the back opened and poured it. No tasting. Ok, no big deal, we are thinking. We just thought it was strange. As we were drinking our wine, we began to wait and wonder what happened to our other 2 appetizers. We waited and waited and waited, but nothing. I asked about the other appetizers and the waitress said they had a big party so it would take longer. We waited some more; close to an hour. Still no appetizers. Then our meals came out. When I questioned the waitress what happened to our other appetizers, she said, "I never ordered them. I only ordered 1." Huh?? The omission of the 2 appetizers and the interminable wait put a damper on the night, but it was the entrees that sealed the deal in terms of the 1 star rating and our decision never to return. My potatoes and the vegetables were ice cold. I just ate it at that point because we had waited so long, and I was hungry. My wife and son ordered the roast chicken. It took my son 2 bites to finish his meal. It was about half the size of the entree that he had ordered in the past, and the prices were virtually the same. When my wife told the waitress about my cold sides, she simply said, "I'll make a note of that." No apology. The waitress then came by to say that she had, in fact, written all 3 appetizers down on her pad, but didn't order the other 2. Another waitress came by to offer us a free dessert. My son ordered the chocolate cake. (I was done at that point.) When the dessert arrived, it wasn't a piece of cake, it resembled the crumbs that remain in a pan after all the cake has been eaten. Even my son said to me, "Are we being punk'd?" As the waitress delivered the check, she said, "Don't forget about our live jazz during the week," I think I'll pass. It's so disappointing when you think you have found a solid restaurant to eat, and then you the return only to find a completely different restaurant--a shell of what it used to be..

Exceptional Cocktails and Appetizers

We went to B Squared Harlem and were not disappointed. The gins and tonic were among the best-tasting that we've ever had. We had only appetizers-- lobster bisque and tempura-filled zucchini blossoms-- and they were delicious! B Squared Harlem is beautiful and cool, and a wonderful bar and restaurant, as well.

Great Atmosphere, Great Food, Great Vibe!

In New York for my niece's spring break. 16 but already a sophisticated foodie she found this great venue, mapped our travel and selected all the menu items we enjoyed. Started with Fried Oyster Sliders and Hand Cut White Truffle and Parmesan Fries. It was so good, we ordered another two rounds of the same and added a burger. Service was great. Can't wait to go back.
