I had noticed this restaurant on a previous trip to N.Y.C. I was taking struck by two things : the menu was attractive and the hours of operation extend into the wee hours of the night even on weekdays (closes at something like 1 AM). So, on my most recent New York trip, I decided to give this facility a try. It was a Saturday night. There was a line to get in, and, once you got in, there was constant motion by the staff serving all of the patrons. It was noisy. Nevertheless, I was able to place my order: the vegetable Soon tofu dish. It was a tofu and vegetable dish served in a vegetarian broth. One of the waitresses came over and cracked an egg to put on top. Before the main dish was served, I was offered a variety of traditional Korean fare. I enjoyed my main course. I did not order any Korean beverages. The service was friendly and helpful. As I mentioned, there was constant hustle and bustle trying to serve all of the different tables that were packed. Prices are moderate. I noticed before leaving that there is an upstairs area to eat as well. In addition, I noticed that this restaurant is part of a national chain.

Food was better when dining at a Los Angeles location. Good Barbeque but can only get LA Kalbi. Grilled fish was better.

I now see why this place is so famous. Their food was super super delicious, even the banchan was so tasty and flavorful. The waiters were also really nice to give us more banchan when we finished. I ordered toppoki and kimchi soondubu (hot) and I was absolutely stuffed after the meal. Their portions were huge. So even if the price is a little high, I think it is worth it because they will give you A LOT of food!

Went for lunch, and had the tofu combo lunch special for $13. They offered a small fried fish, whole; along with a variety of Korean appetizers such as seaweed, potatoes, squid and three other tasting plates. The seafood/beef tufo combo platter was served as a broth with the fish and beef in the broth. My bowl had too much tofu and not enough meat or fish. Overall, ok meal.

I'll preface by saying I am not an expert on Korean cuisine but I had a great time at this restaurant. Ordered the bibimbap which I loved and beforehand they brought out these little dishes which were delicious too (full disclosure I am vegetarian so only tasted the veggie dishes). Thought the staff were really friendly and attentive too. Will def. be stopping off here again next time I am in NYC.

Variety of Korean food and all were delicious. Leave room for desert next door. There are plenty of options on this street.

It was nice to be able to see an familiar establishment all the way on the east coast. I was shocked though at their menu. First, they don't have the combo menus that I love from the west coasts and the tofu soups were about $13 each. Needless to say I was in sticker shock, but still ordered. The service was solid here and the server took good care of us. A friend of mine who really enjoys spicy food said his max spicy was barely noticeable. I told the server and he immediately took his soup to the kitchen and came back out with a new one in a few minutes. He told me if it wasn't enough, he'd be happy to make it hotter. Though the prices are pretty high, I understand that rent is high in midtown Manhattan. They gotta pay their rent somehow.

I've been to the one in NJ in the 90s and there are a couple in Toronto Canada as well. What can I say if you like silky tofu stew this is the place. I chose the innards option and I liked it.

Came here with my daughters for dinner. We found a variety of choices with seafood and veggies which were our preferred options. The seafood tofu soup was a bit bland and we had to ask for salt. The octopus was with a spicy good sauce but overcooked as the octopus was too chewy. The japchai was excellent with glass noodles. Appetizers were excellent - small fried fish, variety of veggies, some spicy and flavorful. With what we ordered take out was necessary as the size of servings were generous, especially with the rice on the side. If I came again I would go for anything with fried tofu as that was excellent in the other dishes.

As a vegetarian, I usually have to make do with whatever is on the menu that is meat-free. No such problem at BCD. I had a hard time deciding what to eat, and settled on tofu dumplings. Incredible!

I love Korean appetizers and the cold vermicelli noodles here was awesome. The variety of appetizers is something that drives me crazy. It is so good to try many small portions.

Went here for early lunch. I was surprised they were open at 930. My husband and I both got the beef tofu soup. My husband got his super spicy, I got mine a couple of notches below his. The soup was delicious. Personally I think his was too spicy. They served a lot of ban-chon.

We really went for the tofu and were not disappointed. The ban chan were good. However, the soondubu was really delicious. The bowls came out steaming hot and stayed hot throughout lunch. The dubu was silky and so good. The service was ok, but don't get me wrong, I would definitely go back.

My second time back to BCD during a busy dinner schedule. We waited for 25 minutes which is not too bad considering the prime dinner hours. The service is super fast! We had the famous mushroom Soontofu, and squid hot bowl. All the side dishes were delicious too. If you want to come to this busy and delicious place, come early. The last time I was here, I came around 5 pm, there was no wait at all. Highly recommend even for someone who is a vegetarian.

I used to live right around the corner and therefore know all the places in this street very well. This is my favorite! I usually go there for brunch on the weekends and the Soondubu they serve is the best. The barbecue is tasty as well, and they fill up the side dishes quite regularly which is not necessarily the case in other places. Highly recommended!

Why go to Korean restaurant in Korea town, NYC? Duh! for ethnic Korean food, dude. Ok, that is basically correct, but … then, why go to a national chain resturant - is it not like going to Italian Gardens to experience Little Italy ethnic. Had Jeyuk Dubu Kimchi, Dol Sot Bibim, green tea and an Asahi for a fifty plus tip. Choice of tofu dishes seemed limited. If you want very, very ordinary (see bland) this place is OK. Service was nice, smooth, very adequate. But really do you want 'vin ordinary'? If it "suits international tongues" is it authentic Korean … hit the search button on smart phone, or walk around W 32nd and pick a local vendor. LIVE LARGE! Go Korean!

My husband isn't a fan of Korean food, but our friend convinced him to try this restaurant. He really liked it. Everything was very flavorful and arrived quickly to our table. You can't go wrong with Korean BBQ. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth a try.

I’ve been to this BCD location a couple of times and it’s not bad. The most recent visit was on a Sunday at around 1 with three of my friends. They told us it would be a 25 minute wait but we were seated in less than 10 minutes. They start us off with all of the banchan, including a whole small fried fish for each person - I don’t really see this anywhere else so I really like that about BCD. Our food came out pretty quickly, and our waitress refilled our banchan dishes without asking - again, another rarity. I had the seafood/beef mixed soondubu. There was a good amount of seafood in there but very little beef. And for the beef that was in there, it tasted old and chewy. Still, I would come back next time I’m in K-Town and am in need of some soondubu.

My husband & I specially made our way to this restaurant based on recommendations from friends. Having visited Seoul last December, we were very anxious to experience the rich Korean flavours we have tasted in Seoul. There was a line when we went there for dinner on a weekday. We had to wait for about 20 minutes for a table. We ordered a spicy oyster tofu soup, a spicy beef tofu soup, and a seafood pancake. Unfortunately the taste was lacking in the soup (if compared to the flavours we tasted in Korea). We will unlikely recommend this place to another person.

This place is great! Amazing tofu soup. Lots of side dishes. Left leaving unreasonably happy after stuffing myself.

My wife and I were staying at a hotel close to Koreatown and had flown in late and hadn't had dinner. We stopped into this restaurant because it was open late and had received some good reviews. Of course we ordered dishes with tofu which were delicious. The tofu soup with kimchi and seafood was particularly good on a cold evening. Silky tofu with a spicy broth hit the spot. The service was excellent, the menu extensive, the prices reasonable. What's not to like. Recommended if you are near the Empire State building.

If I could give 0, I would. We put our name on the list at 5:30 pm for a party of 8. We checked in several times before they realized that we were on a previous page and they forgot about us. We were told we would then get the next large table. At 7pm they seated us. Moments later the manager came to tell us that the owner wanted the table and we needed to leave. It was the poorest service I have ever experienced. With so many amazing restaurants in the neighborhood, service is what differentiates restaurants.

A busy seaport with a tasty menu, we enjoyed the To pok Ki (rice cakes and fish cakes) as appetizer, had 3 servings of the complementary munchies and settled on three tofu main dishes. The pork soontofu was excellent. I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the washrooms, deep in the basement

Really good food and value for NYC. The restaurant was packed with Koreans, there was only us and a couple of other tables of non Koreans. I knew it was going to be authentic. They bring you all kinds of appetizers to munch on while they prepare your meals. Everything we had was ample size and delicious. I will return the next time I'm in NYC.

I go here all the time, best soon doo boo in the Manhattan area! I tried next door Five Senses, which was pretty close, but then went back to BCD - they portions of seafood is way more and delicious.

Tried abalone soondubu...It's a perfect combination between seafood and tofu stew. The taste is really authentic Korean but suits international tongues. Side dishes are also generous

We were around the Korean Town neighborhood and I am a fan of Korean food. My niece recommended this Tofu House to meet for lunch. We were just in time before the lunch crowd started pouring in. Surprisingly, it has two levels inside the restaurant. We ordered our food from the lunch special menu. The lunch special came with choice of different kind of Tofu soup, one main dish and white rice. We pick the seafood tofu soup - it was OK. I chose the Korean style BBQ beef sparerib as my main dish - the sparerib was chewy and the onion was not cooked. I convinced that my dish was not prepared individually. They must cooked a big pot of it and just spooned into each lunch plate.

We were staying nearby and went down this street full of Korean restaurants, the BCD Tofu house had a pretty big line so we figured follow the crowd. And what a crowd it is, this is pretty solidly Asian and the patrons are on the young and decidedly hip side ( we ate there twice and it is even more hip on weekends) They said it would be twenty minutes for a table but it was closer to ten, I would recommend all restaurant efficiency experts check this place out for the use of space and the quick turn out. We looked around and it was clear that the tofu soup was the main draw so we ordered a seafood one and a vegetable one. Each soup comes with a buffet of Kim Chi side dishes, including a little fried fish, the variety was different on our two visits but the cabbage Kim Chi and fried fish are regular offerings. The two raw eggs, those you wait to crack open ( we thought they were hard boiled, oops. The egg goes in the simmering hot steamy tofu soup when it arrives and cooks in the broth. Yummmy. It is quite a culinary adventure but tables are close enough that you can surreptitiously observe how the regulars do it. I ordered the regular spicy which was in the middle of the spiciness chart but man it was very spicy which I loved but I have a high tolerance for heat. The food comes within minutes of ordering which is quite amazing considering the place is always packed. Efficient service, fun crowd and excellent food. Did I mention it is a bargain the amount of good food you get for the price? Its a screaming deal, go try it out!

Pretty good, but a little compressed. The sides were great and tasty. The meat was plentiful and fine. We were seated at a 4-person table separated into two by a small plastic wall but there wasn’t a ton of room.

Excellent choice in Koreatown. Food, service, ambiance, value, location. Every single aspect of this restaurant is a seller. The food is delicious. The servers are quick to take your order, serve the food, quick to notice anything you might need throughout your meal, and bring you your bill. I visited this place for lunch with my mom with our stomachs stuck to our backs and we were served promptly with great food. Even though it was off-peak time, they were still full with patrons in the entire restaurant. Visit during lunchtime for a great value meal.

This Korean restaurant serves authentic Korean food. From Dol Sot Bibimbap to Galbi. There is always a line up, so be prepared. We were a party of 4. They have separate line for 1-2 people and over 3. The line for 1-2 was quite long but there was no line up for 3 or more when we were there. Lucky us. They only give you a table when you whole party has arrived. They are not meat to cater to very large group. I don't see table that can seat party bigger than 4. Food was really nice. Service was quick and friendly. Taste of food was excellent.

This is my third time to this restaurant in the past few years. It’s one of my top rated Korean restaurants in the places I usually visit. Needless to say, I’d go back to this restaurant in a heartbeat! Service is fast and efficient, food is excellent and it’s priced quite reasonable considering the quality of the food. This is a Korean restaurant chain and have locations in other cities in the US. Lunch menu is a great deal! 👍

I've been coming to BCD for over 15 years, and I've been coming to this location for over 8 years. This used to be our staple after partying. The food is always good. This location can get really busy, and wait time can go upto two (2) hours. So try to avoid busy time/night.

Delicious food & fast service! Really tasty flavours. The restaurant seems to be busy all the time, which is a good sign!

Expected! We heard about BCD Tofu, and we've been to the one in Queens a few times already. However, we didn't know that at this location, the soondubu is tastier! Don't believe me? Try it! The parking is hard to find these days because they blocked almost all parking spaces to accommodate outside seatings. Anyway, Hubby got lucky after going around twice. We were greeted by a nice host, Lindsey. She's happy and lovely. I had to wait for Hubby to park before they sit me down because they prefer that everyone arrives at the same time to reserve the table. I waited but not too long. We got a big table, perfect! We ordered a set for me, soondubu in a small hot stone bowl and spicy octopus over rice. Wow! my meals were out of this world! So delicious! Better than most soondubu and octopus over rice that I tried in my neighborhood and the other BCD location. I'm impressed! Hubby ordered Galbi and soondubu. His set was also super delicious! I tried the Galbi, and I must say they're the Galbi expert! Because I'm not! If you like meat, get a Galbi set. If you like octopus, get the one I had. For whatever reason, the soondubu was so delicious because of the thickness of the broth, not water down. I loved this type of soondubu. I know, I know, there's only one type, but I like how they make it here. We had Jade as our waitress. She's excellent too. They do really well here. We want to come back for the soondubu! Ok, I must stop here before I start calling Hubby to take me back here tonight!

My husband recommended this place because he frequented the LA branch. Expect a long waiting line for a table (we ate here twice and the average waiting time was 45 minutes to an hour). The barbecue dishes were tasty. Open 24 hours.

Good experience, fast seating despite the crowded waiting area. It took a moment for them to come take our order but once they did they were on it and Spanish guys were awesome servers. I had the Bi Bum or something like that recommended by a friend and it was delicious. Loved how the rice was crisp at the bottom of the dish. Thought I tasted more chili oil than anything in the dish and the beef that came with it you could barely taste cause it was chopped up to small. So, for the price am not sure it was worth it. Loved all of the condiments they presented like the fried fish...really tasty. Once done, we seemed to have been rushed as there were more folks waiting to get inside.

I eat quite a lot in Koreatown, and a friend introduced me to this place a year or so ago; so we decided to hit it up again before a concert on Friday night. Though there was a line waiting, we were quickly seated as our whole party had arrived together (they don't seat you if you're missing even one person), and were quickly brought water and hot tea (which is complimentary). The last 2 times I was there I ordered the Spicy Rice Cakes, but we both decided to have Bi Bim Bob (mines cold and my friend's hot). They were both delicious but I really enjoyed the mixture of flavors of the cold dish without having to worry about waiting for it to warm down. All the dishes come with a selection of appetizers that are also complimentary and this made for a wonderful meal to tide us over until after the concert was finished. I recommend this place if you like Tofu, Korean food, or just want to try something different. Buen Provecho. Enjoy!

good korean food- we all enjoyed our meal- the people I was with liked the soup- this is a local place for me in koreatown and the service and food were good

We were craving sundubu jigae-so headed here-our usual go to Korean place. I forgot how expensive it is. The kalbi has gone down in quality-a little over cooked and just not worth $27. The japchae was tasty but the tofu in it was not. The sundubu jigae was delicious as usual. Service is super fast.

I am a fan of Korean food and when I was around Korean Town for a meeting, I could not let go of the option of having lunch here. Entered BCD Tofu house based on the menu and the decor. The Kimchi spread welcomed us and I took no time to devour every bit of it. All the dishes we ordered were above par and definitely very Korean. Some of the best that I have had. I love tofu and anything with it is yumm. This place does due justice to Korean food. We were just in time before the lunch crowd started pouring it which was good. Highly recommended.

This was a great place to stop late at night. Had a big bowl of tofu soup with lots of kimchi and other side dishes.

Ktown energy sweeps you up then sits you down to an amazing selection of traditional Korean fare. The complimentary knosh is your invite to sample flavors and tastes typical to Korean cuisine. Service is quick polite and at times borders chaotic while composed, definitely high energy ! Recommend the bim bop as a main course …suggest a seafood pancake starter as well as the tofu stew pot .. tender creamy tofu in a steaming spicy pot of veg and spice.

Cold and hungry on a frigid winter day, we walked to nearby Korea Town for a snack before dinner, and tofu soup seemed like a good fit. The locale is informal, though much larger than appear from the outside. The food was hearty and tasty, the portions were large, and the service was courteous and efficient. Everything was clean, and the overall experience was very good. Would recommend. We were promptly seated, and we had not trouble in deciding: Mushroom Tofu Soup for me, Seafood Tofu Soup for my wife, and we split an order of dumplings. I ordered a Hite (Korean beer) and my wife had Green Tea. Much to our surprise, before our meal was served our table was covered with small plates of snacks and condiments, which suggested us of what Korean tapas must look like. The Kimchi was particularly good, and the fried fish was good but bland. The soups were tasty and hearty, and I was impressed by how much seafood was in my wife’s soup. By the time we left, we were more than satisfied, and hoped that a planned dinner with a friend could be pushed back to later in the evening.

I waited 2 years for this place to reopen. A huge fan of the old BCD, I was there almost twice a week. Totally addicted. The old place that is. The new location seems more spacious, but something is different about the food. The tofu looked different, and somehow it just wasn't as tasty as I remembered. Seafood pancake too. Did they take out the MSG? Maybe. Because I also felt I wasn't as thirsty. Regardless, I am willing to go back and try again.

Went to BCD Tofu House while visiting my son who lives in NYC and recommended it. It was Friday night around 7 and the entry was super crowded, with a line almost out the door, but they managed it well and we were seated within about 20 minutes. Don't let the 'Tofu' name fool you - lots of meat on the menu. They are famous for Tofu soups, which were served sizzling hot and really good, but I thought the Bulgogi was even better. I had a spicy pork Bulgogi but also sampled my son's beef - both outstanding. The service was friendly & fast. The 'bonus' is an assortment of delicious Korean appetizers, ranching from Kimchi to broccoli, ~6 separate plates that come with the meal. Great place, highly recommend!

Give this place a 3.5 stars. The place is modern. Was in here for late night dinner. The food was good and authentic, but the services as slow. The price were reasonable. There wasn't a dish that I would say wow that is really good.

Other Korean restaurants have a better variety of the side dishes that are served with your entrees, and other places are less expensive for Korean staples such as Bibimbap and Bulgogi, but the atmosphere and the service at BCD are worth paying a little more.

We've been to the BCD Tofu House in Irvine, CA. This one wasn't exactly the same. We were seated quickly even though there was a bunch of people waiting because we were a party of 3 and they had the cutest little corner table for 3 open. Food comes really quickly, even by KBBQ standards. More side dishes (banchan) than the Irvine branch but not refilled like the Irvine branch. We had soon doo boo and kalbi (not cooked at table) and seafood pancake and shrimp dumplings. All were great but the seafood pancake stood out; very crispy and lots of seafood. Service was prompt but the usual minimally interactive Korean-style (which I might prefer to "hi, my name is ....and I'll be your waiter today" etc. etc.)

This is an average Korean tofu house. They do serve each patron a fried fish(served cold) as an additional (free) appetizer, in addition to the various little dishes that all Korean restaurants serve. Their Bibimbap has tofu..which is a nice touch. At times, I had difficulty catching waitress' attention....

This is a really nice and popular place. If you come prime time like 7p or 8p, you'll have to wait because there is a bunch of ppl waiting outside especially during weekends. I went to their original LA location on my first visit and was impressed so I come here in NYC but my most recent visit, I was treated with a table upstairs which is the place to sit because this is a loft and upstairs you can see everything downstairs - quite an amazing view! I love their tofu pots but make sure to eat it fast while it's hot, that's when it tastes best! I fooled around with appetizers and rice that pot became cold and so I wasn't able to enjoy the full pot. I feel assorted pot is best because you get their famous rib eye beef and some seafood. I also like their oysters only pot. When I got their bill, I forgot what it felt like to eat affordable since I been eating at expensive steakhouses most of time.

We stopped in for lunch based on positive reviews. The restaurant was extremely busy and the staff did not accommodate non-Korean speakers very nicely. The food was good but not excellent. The menu was difficult to understand for we Americans. I would not return nor invite any friends there.

Among many Korean restaurants in Koreatown Manhattan this is a gem. Be prepared for a bustling atmosphere at least on weekends but you will be rewarded with excellent food and fast and polite service. Even without reservation on a Friday night the crew manages to seat you within minutes. The menu offers a great variety of food and the appetizers you get on the house are excellent and a good start. Complementary water with free refills complete the experience. We love this place and go there frequently.

Having been to several Korean places in NYC Ktown, I would say that this place is my favorite so far. I like the combo style menu items they had which made it a much better value. The flavor of the tofu soup was better than 5 senses in my opinion. The staff was also English speaking and friendlier than other Korean restaurants. It's also open 24/7 so it was a great breakfast place for us before flying out.

While visiting NYC we decided to try the BCD Tofu which a friend recommended. The lines were long but we only waited about 15 minutes. They will not sit you until your whole party is there. I had the Galbi Combo and it was phenomenal. The sides were great and they also have a tofu soup that is amazing as well...although showing our ignorance, they brought the hot and boiling soup out with an egg...which we did not know was raw and was meant to be put in the soup right away! For such a packed restaurant we could carry our conversation and hear each other comfortably, it was not too noisy. We also did not feel rushed once we sat down! All in all a great experience!

Damn good!!! This is no.1 tofu stew even better than Korea one. Must-try oyster tofu stew (I took spicy version) and LA BBQ ribs. Thumbs up 10 times myself. Fried fish (actually side dish), awesome. It can beat main dishes. Not only good meal, nice customer service with friendly staff. (But I'm not so sure because I am a Korean).

Korea town is the hot place to eat now. BCD has good rice dishes with a variety of meat or vegetable sauces. Prices are reasonable. Dining room is tight but clean.

I came here with my parents on our first day in NY because it was near the hotel and the food looked nice. We were sat down promptly (it wasn't really that busy) but then watched two separate tables of Korean girls arrive after us who sat down and were attended to within 3 mins. We were still sat there waiting to be acknowledged after 10 mins so we got up and left...which no one noticed acknowledged either. It felt like they don't want non Korean customers. Which is fine because I won't be going there again or recommending it. Go to Five Senses instead, they are really nice and so is the food.

Very good tofu meals at reasonable prices. Wait staff did not speak English so communication was uneven. We will return to try other dishes.

Located in the heart of Koreatown just across the road from the hotel, this Korean restaurant is very popular. Despite the huge size, there's always a crowd waiting for a free table). The service was very quick with the piping hot food arriving shortly after the starters of pakchoi, seaweed, beansprouts (which are included in the price for the main dishes). We had a veggie tofu soup with rice and a Jap Chae (vermicelli noddles with vegetables). Both were delicious.

I’ve only had Korean food a handful of times and was looking forward to an authentic experience. We were quickly seated and we ordered bibambop and japchae. Both were great! We loved the add-ins—Kim chee, fish cake, etc. The service was efficient. Good thing we went at 7, by the time we left there was a long line.

Great food, fast service. The waiting line was long due to its popularity but we didn't have to wait long to get a table.

If you are in the mood for some good simple Korean food and you don't want to experiment, this korean chain located in major cities in USA is worth it. Menu is simple. We had soondobu (Tofu soup) or kalbi(short rib) or Kimchi jaeuk bokem (stir fried pork with kimchi and tofu). All really good. Service was a bit slow due to we went around 2pm but overall a good experience. You have to try the kimchi Jaeuk bokem. The New York BCD makes it a little different but man is it good. Go during off hours since the lines get long during peak hrs.

Went to this place for the first time with my brother and his girlfriend. They had been to the sister restaurant in queens so they figured it would be the same. The restuarant is open 24 hours a day and window had 3 tvs which shows what they offer and such.. The doors were a tad tough to open whether it was the weather or it was meant to build an appetite. We got there just before the mad line around 1pm (sunday) and the hostess wouldnt accept us til the whole party arrived. Somewhat reasonable but there werent that many waiting. I noticed there are two floors besides the main floor. The menu had an assortment of items but some of the menu were for specials during the weekday in the morning and some at night time. So basically weekend had no lunch specials in the city. Mind you it was crowded so i guess people enjoyed what they had. When we ordered we gotten the little dishes most korean restaurants give out. Surprising was a small fish they deep fried..but i couldnt eat it as it had so many little bones. Our food arrived and it was good to say..and there were no condiments like salt or pepper on the table which i felt was good as the flavor of the food should speak for itself. A few spicy kimchi helped with my dish as i felt it was a bit sweet. All in all despite a menu whose has specials during the week and not on weekends it was real good and service was decent.

i'm surpised this is rated like over 1000 of all places to eat in NYC.. Its got some great value, and great tofu, and its good for you! The side dishes were OK, but if you come to a Korean restaurant for its side dishes, something's amiss here! The Kimchi Chigae i had was nice, spicy, and great to have on a cold day. The soup was really full of flavour and i enjoyed it along with a seafood pancake.. The price was really reasonable too and its great with friends!

We went to Korea town to get authentic Korean food. This is too big a place, and hence the focus on good taste gets diluted.

This place used to be good but quantity has outdone quality. Bcd has ruined classic Korean Tofu Stews and replaced the layered seafood based stew with what I can only assume to be salt or worse MSG. We could not even stand the soup with mouthfuls of rice which has also become poorly cooked or I should say undercooked. The ban chans are now lame. We won't be going to BCD again and you should not unless you want to drink water like a hip for the rest of the day! Add insult to injury, and I don't like to talk about others bathroom habits--- but staff don't heed the warning "employees must was hands before returning to work." Upon witnessing that we hastily paid and left.

My fourth visit in three years to BCD Tofu House was not a disappointment. The place is packed to the rafters and the food is sublime. Excellent Korean outlet that delivers consistently good tasty food at very affordable pricing.

We went here early on a Friday night and the place was hopping. We were seated immediately though. I'm not an expert on Korean food, but have tried Bibimbap and loved it, so since we were staying near Korea Town, I wanted to come here. It was definitely more adventurous (i.e. authentic, I'm assuming) than other places like Franchia Cafe (also very good, but pricey - higher end). I'm not entirely sure what I ended up ordering and didn't know what a lot of the dishes were, but it was a nice experience. I got the beef bibimbap in a piping hot giant stone bowl. The tofu soup came sizzling to our table on a hot pot. I think I was supposed to crack an egg in it, but wasn't sure. : ) The appetizers were interesting, and it came with a whole friend fish, which I wasn't sure how to approach. Anyway, the food was good, and it was nice to get out of my comfort zone a bit. Most people there were Korean, which I think also speaks to its authenticity. My husband wasn't crazy about it.

This is a a great Korean Food Restaurant . It has vegterian and no vegeterian food. The Food is great and fresh. The service is also great . They have both spicey and no spicey food.

My husband and I have been here several times. It's on two floors, very busy, and a little noisy. Suggest eating upstairs where it's quieter. The appetizers are really nice, with lots of variety. Love the kim chee, and other spice-y things. We are vegetarians, but there is a decent selection without meat or fish. We have ordered the bibimbap a few times and were not disappointed. There's also a nice vegetarian-style omelet that is good. Have eaten vegetarian vermicelli too. Servers are a little harried, but they get to you pretty well. Seems to always have lots of Korean diners as patrons, so that seems like a good recommendation in itself. Since this place is close to Penn Station, we often end up here, and look forward to a good meal.

My friend picked this place due to the reviews. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is located just by the Times Square area in Koreatown. The decor is plain and not that fancy, nor are the prices that expensive. i ordered a kimchi bibimbap and friend a tofu soup. I usually have no taste for tofu, but my friend found the dish fresh and yummy. The usual small appetizer plate accompanied the dishes and this restaurant surprised us with a piece of fried fish. The bibmbap did not disappoint. Service was good and prompt.

This restaurant was the final one I ate in while staying in Korea Town, and it was really very good. Again a bit more than I would liked to have paid, but the taste was excellent. This is the one restaurant I would go back to.

Ok if you’re really craving for Korean food. But we felt their LA Branch was wayyyy more delicious with wayyy better service and ambience.

I love Korean food. I went to BCD in NJ and in Queens as well. Great food. Great Korean BBQ n tofu. Well, Korean town has tons of excellent Korean food ...

We went there yesterday night after a show and totally by luck. It was near by our hotel. We had bimbimbop, really good

Having never tried Korean food, I was anxious to give it a try. We went for the lunch specials ($15-$20) and ordered the the whole nine yards--soondubu (tofu soup), Kalbi, and Bulgogi.. The whole fish amuse bouche arrived along with about 8 different side dishes. All very good. Nice spicy kimchi. The soup arrived boiling hot...and you are given a raw egg to break into the soup. Very interesting and tasty. The "regular" spice level was good for me. The Kalbi (short ribs) and Bulgogi (rib eye) were large portions and very good. The service was excellent-->unfamiliar dishes were explained and tea/water/beer were kept filled. The place was crowded and there were many Asian patrons...so I took that as a good sign. I would go back in a heartbeat. As a bonus, this block of 32nd St. has some interesting shops and bars too! Dinner menu was much more expensive...but lunch was well worth it. This is a don't miss place.

This is the place to go if u love tofu, kimchi & spicy soup. I went there 3X in 6 days! Love the whole fried fish that they serve as a free appetizer, along with kimchi, spinach and the usual Korean side dishes. Ask for more if u are greedy :) for the tofu soup, u can choose from different levels of spicyness (just do regular unless u can take real spicy soup). Real yummy! Oh and they are open 24/7!

Busy Tuesday night. Group of three had short ribs, calamari and stir fried pork. Short ribs were well flavored, but a bit grisly. Pork was good, on the hotter side of mild but still edible to picky eaters. Calamari with tofu was very good. Out of most bottled beer on the menu and no warm sake. Service was incredibly fast until it was time to pay the bill....then no service for eons.

Popular place - I was told it would be 20 minutes for a table but the wait was more like 10 minutes. I was glad I came on the early side as by the time I left, the line was out the door and then some. Music is upbeat - a bit loud - I thought it created a fun atmosphere but would not be good for quiet conversation. Menu is varied with a few vegetarian items. Dinner comes with 6 small sides/appetizers four of which are vegetarian (the other two are a fried fish and something prepared in a fish sauce) and very tasty. Entrée was very good - hot sauce served on the side, which was perfect. Service was friendly and efficient - multiple servers seem to cover the same table. Very reasonably priced.

The ultimate comfort food of Asians!! I tried the tofu soup/Sundubu jjigae; it was one of the best one I ever tasted. Very good. There're a lot of sides dishes and when you are done one of them.. ASK FOR MORE!!! They accept it (not too much of course). The jjigae is so good!!! You should try it. Tip is you should go there in lunch or a bit later lunch (1-4pm) because it will be very busy at night time.

BCD Tofu House has excellent Korean cuisine and many options for vegetarians. The kimchi was spicy and tart, and the soondubu (tofu soup, the specialty of the house) was super hot and flavorful. I wimped out and ordered mine "mild", and I think I could have used a little more kick. The menu was confusing and we weren't exactly sure what we were getting with our lunch special, but the waitress was patient and explained everything to us. Prices were reasonable. I'd recommend going, but if you're not Korean or don't know much about Korean food, go with a friend who can explain it to you. It's a great adventure in new tastes.

No wonder this place is always packed. Food is very good and filling. We ordered various types on soontofu and were we stuffed! Also got the seafood pancake and it was superb. Paired w shoju and that rounded up the meal. Price just right for the amount of food.

Very busy and staff was apologetic for the long wait. Waited for 40 mins and asked to be seated downstairs as we had a stroller with is and infant. It was worth the wait for reasonable priced tasty tofu soup and bbq meat we shared and more than enough for two

This is a chain, but judging from the number of Asian patrons it does the trick in providing delicious Korean comfort food. Service is prompt and friendly, though the server seemed surprised that we ordered spicy food, lol. There were only two at our table but they're equipped to handle larger groups. I ordered the spicy pork bowl and my partner ordered the spicy squid, both from the chef's specials section of the menu. We finished it all, scraping the crunchy layer of rice from the bottom of the bowl.

I absolutely love this place. The tofu is fantastic- the kimchi soondubu is just amazing. This place is busy, it's lively, and yhr service is great.

BCD Tofu House is at 32nd St, a street replete with Korean eateries, hence its moniker, Korea Town. At 8pm, the restaurant was still very crowded and we had to wait a while for a seat. Service was friendly and efficient. We were served hot tea and an amazing array of appetizers. Just take a sampling of each or you'd be stuffed before your mains arrive. The menu had too many items and we missed out on the dinner combo which would have been great value. Instead, we chose Goon Man Do (Fried Beef Dumplings), the Chap Chae (fried vermicelli) and the Bi Bim Bob (Rice Bowl). The dumplings were quite tasty and not too oily. The Chap Chae was very delicious, a little sweet and savoury, with lots of vegetables in it. We had no problem finishing the very big plate. The Rice Bowl was a bit too much for us. It was good but a little too heavy on flavour. The portion was big, and after the appetisers, the dumplings and the Chap Chae, we just could not finish it all. The tables are really close to each other, and the restaurant can be quite noisy. However, the food and service make up for it.

Years ago, tried it many times in LA and my friends and I love it. So decided to try it in New York. Of course not expecting that all branches to taste as good but... Won't be visiting again

Walked around korean town looking for a place for dinner. Place was very crowded then so I came back for late lunch (around 2.30pm on a weekday) to avoid the crowd. I was seated and served promptly. I ordered their tofu seafood soup set served with rice (think it is about USD 16). The staff served me a variety of complimentary korean appetizers including kimchi, pickled cucumbers, radish, etc and a small fried fish 😃 The appetizers were yummy and not too spicy for me. You can also tell them the level of spiciness you want your soup. I chose the mild as I was not sure if their spice level is authentic korean standard or adjusted to suit non koreans. The soup was served shortly and it came pipping hot. I am not a tofu fan but the tofu here is so smooth and yummy that I actually finished the entire bowl of tofu soup!! It was a very satisfying meal and affordable considering you get a full meal and a good variety of appetizers which are refillable at no additional costs. I strongly recommend anyone who are looking for a good affordable meal in NYC to try this place.

I come here...like every day. Okay, not every day but whenever I can. Ever since I got introduced to this wonderful thing called Soondubu, I couldn't get enough. And then they opened up a restaurant dedicated to it. Life was good. But then it was not good. Because then they CLOSED this restaurant. It was a very sudden too. I came by one day and it was gone. I mourned. More than a year later, it comes back (Summer 2013)! Yes, it played with my heart but I forgive easily. And not to sound like someone who doesn't understand variety - I always get the same thing. The beef soondubu MILD. I'm sure the other four spiciness levels are good, but Taiwanese me can only take so much spice. They also offer everyone a little fried fish for an appetizer which I have a love-hate relationship with. Sometimes the crispiness make it easy to eat it, and sometimes it creates issues where you have a million little fish bones in your mouth. Just proceed with caution. I think I've had better soondubu in LA but in NYC, this is my favorite.

Best soon-du-boo (hot bowl tofu stew) in nyc. Silky tofu without the taste of msg in the soup. Tops in free ban chan (appetizers) as well which includes a small fried fish (mackerel i think). Just a little pricier than other hole in the walls, but worth it.

We had visited BCD Tofu House when we were in NYC two years ago. We loved the food, so we were excited to go back. What a mistake. First, the food was not as good as we remember. We ordered beef bulgogi, and I've never had bulgogi taste so bland. It was more like bad Mongolian beef from a Chinese restaurant. The only highlight of the meal were the tiny fried fish that they serve as an appetizer. Our waitress was the worst we've ever had. We asked for water and never received it. She never checked on us once our food was delivered -- it was an effort to flag her down. We asked for refills on our tea cups, which had sat empty for minutes. We saw her go to the server station, feel the outside of the teapot for warmth. She felt it over and over for several seconds -- clearly recognizing it was not hot. So rather than ask us to wait and get more hot tea, she poured the tea into our cups. We tasted the tea, and it was absolutely cold. We then poured this cold tea into our soup bowls, and proceeded to ask her for more tea. This forced her to get us hot tea. It should not be this difficult! We flagged her down for our bill, and even though our food was only half-eaten, she did not ask if we wanted it packed to go. She did not deserve any tip, but kind souls that we are, we could not stiff her. But we will not be back to this restaurant.

I encountered BCD years ago in LA and thought it was terrific. I was so happy to see a branch finally open in Korea town in Manhattan. the Banchan they brought out was fantastic which included the best Kimchi i've ever had as well as the battered fried whole fish. The Soup was rich and flavorful that was tempered with the egg they brought that must be broken and mixed into the soup immediately. My favorite part at the end of the meal is when they pour hot tea into the stone rice container to scrape up those wonderful bits of crispy rice to enjoy with the remaining banchan (if any is left that is).

I have tried different korean food and this restaurant has been the cleanest and the most healthiest. Organic vegetables and tofu, there are several options to eat.

Came here 3 years ago and returned today for dinner. Just as good as I remembered. I have always liked tofu soups but wanted to have more than that, and their dinner combos sorted that out. I went the beef bulgogi and mild Tofu soup, which was really tasty. Service was fast and efficient and although busy, we didn't have to really wait.

My partner loves her tofu dishes and found this place best met her cravings. She hyped it up so much that by the time I got round to trying it, I had high expectations. In general, I was not disappointed. Since my other half had already sampled most of the tofu dishes on offer, I thought I'd try something which didn't involve tofu, and went with a standard bulgogi. For a place so highly rated for its tofu, I was in no way left disappointed by the meat. The marinated rib eye was juicy, perfectly cooked and tasted great. My partner, as per her habit, had the tofu with kimchi and pork, which I have to agree was quite lovely. The tofu definitely is worth all the accolades. Prior to mains we had enjoyed the excellent condiments and a scallion pancake. The pancake was a bit bland and ended up being the only disappointment of the night. Pancake aside, everything else was really very good. Service was friendly and everything came quickly. The restaurant is big and divided over two floor, though you may still have to wait a bit as it is very popular. I'd certainly recommend.

We had a business dinner recently and everyone loved the food. We ordered seafood tofu soup, LA Galbi and spicy pork bulgogi. The meal began with usual spread of Korean side dishes (ban chan) and a free appetizer -- a medium sized fried fish. The fish was good, but I would have liked it a bit crispier. When the tofu soup arrived, we broke the egg into the hot soup and stirred it, then the waitress served each of us. After serving each of us the usual roasted rice, the waitress put tea in it and, later on, served that to each of us. We enjoyed the LA Galbi and pork very much. Some us found the LA Galbi a bit hard to tackle, because it takes some effort to separate the meat and tendon from the bone :-) All in all, it was similar to other Korean barbecues, but the quality of the food and the service was very good. There are many Korean barbecue restaurants in this stretch of 32nd St between 5th Ave and 6th Ave, but I think this one is a very good choice.

BCD is open from early morning 9 am to 5 am. The restaurant is full of Korean guests which enjoy the silk like tofu. We had different type of Tofu but I prefer the spicy pork Tofu.. The mezzanine is less noisy than the main room.

The Tofu is super soft and silky. We order the seafood tofu soup and beef tofu soup. Both are awesome. Price is good. Absolutely will go there again.

Then I hope a Korean restaurant opens in my hometown soon. Great meat options, endless veggie options, and FLAVOR!! The soondubu soup was exactly the right level of spiciness. It's hard to explain when other cuisines don't provide an adequate reference point for analogy. Try everything and keep an open mind. You won't be disappointed.

My friend and I tried this Korean restaurant even though it „only“ has 4 Stars on TripAdvisor: and it was the best Korean food we’ve ever tried! We waited around 15-20 minutes and it was worth the wait! The most expensive dish was I think 25$, but most dishes range between 15-20$ and you get a dried fish as an appetizer and also some other Korean appetizers with it. The size of the dish is BIG! Here you really get your money‘s worth and the food is so good! A must-try when you’re in NYC! The photo with the sizzling pan is E4 and the other main dish is E3.

Came to this place based on the recommendation of my local friend. Ordered the seafood soon tofu set. It came with rice, assorted kimchi, a fried fish and different banchan. I chose medium spicy level which was spicy enough for my taste. Excellent service and price performance. Tofu was soft and organic certified. Would come again.

Nice place to get a hearty Korean meal. The tofu stews is where all the action is at. Seafood one was by far the best and probably the best I've had. But it looks nothing like the pic on menu which is a bit misleading. Kalbi was also excellent. The spicy bacon BBQ was a bit subpar though and the bonchon only mediocre. This place was good and I will come back but there are places in the DC metro area that are as good or better. Service was as expected for a Korean place: cool but efficient.

It began well. Friendly, accommodating front desk staff, short wait, nice vibe. It went downhill from there. The wait staff hovers over the table about 30 seconds after the menu is thrust in your hands. Despite making clear that we were not in a rush, we were rushed to order. We ordered an Octopus dish that must have come from a Michelin Tire Factory. I can make a more tender octopus dish at home. It was beyond tough and chewy, almost inedible. Another dish was the seafood soondubu -- the pictured dish on the menu looked great. What arrived was nondescript. The "seafood" consisted of several frozen clams and mussels, flavorless and with that freezer to pan texture and mouthfeel. The food is super-spicy just for the sake of being spicy - there is no harmony whatsoever between the ingredients. Second rate chow, completely uninspired. The only exception was the appetizers/side dishes which were actually delicious. I greatly disliked how they rushed so many things onto the table at the same time -- our appetizers were sitting there, while the dumplings were shunted aside and the boiling cauldrons of of our main courses roughly thrust onto the table. Overall, I was kicking myself for not having selected one of the 3 dozen other Korean restaurants on the block.

I've been going to this place for years. It's not your average korean restaurant on 32nd Street. It is one of the few that are highly touted and known to both locals and tourists. Their food is great and for the money spent, it is definitely worth it. Service is wonderful as the place is fully staffed at all times. Great selection of side dishes as always.

I've been to BCD on two separate trips to Manhattan. The food was exceptional on both visits. A really fun place to have Korean food if you are in Mid-town Manhattan and are in the mood for a nice Kimchi & Tofu soup. Also, after lunch you can walk up 32nd Street and look into all the Korean bakeries and grocery stores.

I lined up at 17:00 on Friday. It looks like a popular place. The row is divided into two columns: one for up to two people and one for more than two people. Up to two people can wait up to 15 minutes. The inside of the shop is large, but it's going to take a lot of time. Seafood Sundub $19, Seafood Chijimi $18, Beer $8, Sprite $4 are all for two women! If I could spare it, I would have liked to eat ribs. Patchan is also free to refill, which I think is good for filling up cheaply. The taste was also delicious. Asian food is a relief.

I was raised on Korean food. This is good Korean food, period. The ban chan they give you is good, the soondubu stew is very good and I really enjoy the bibimbap. Service is pleasant (nothing special but effective). The food comes out fast which is great if you are there on lunch break. I was there twice in the last couple weeks on my lunch break. I will be back here. Probably many times. The only thing holding it back from five stars is that some of the items are priced kind of high. The soondubu stew itself though is a good deal.

It was a very cold day when we arrived in NYC. We had walked down from 47th street so by the time we arrived on 32nd street we were ready for something hot. The Tofu house was reasonably priced and very good. The very nice thing is they ask how spicy you want your soup, I like some spice while my daughter does not. The little sides they bring out were good and the soup was great. I was most surprised about the little fish that comes for every person. I thought it was a little hard to eat (I probably was doing it wrong), it was very tasty. My only one complaint woud be that as soon as we sat down the waitres was there to take our order, we hadn't had a chance to even pick up the menu yet, then at the end of our meal we had to flag her down to get our bill. Other than that small issue it was a very enjoyable experience. Looking forward to going back.

After a great weekend in New York my husband and I decided to end the vacay with some good korean food. The service, side dishes, cleanliness and our food were all great. After living in Korean for so long i still cringe and the prices...but that's just how it is in the states. Almost triple the price but that's not BCD's fault. That's just the "price you pay" for living in the states. But the quality and taste here is almost as good as Korea hehe and you can't really ask for more than that. My husband really enjoyed his dol sot bibim bap and my kimchi tofu stew was good as well. When on 32nd....try BCD.

My daughter and I had dinner there a little after 5pm on Saturday night. We were told by my niece to eat there. Once we entered we were seated right away. We ate galbi which was marinated well.. A little expensive ($24.95) for about 12 pieces that were about 2 inches each with bones. The tofu soup was good too. We also had fried mandoo (dumplings) for appetizers. They were alright though I have tasted better ones. The side dishes that came along were a little disappointing except for the fish. I usually end up eating them before the entree comes but I wasn't crazy about it. Therefore, I couldn't give it a five star. Probably try another Korean restaurant when I am in town again just for the sake of it. There's so many right next door. Glad that service was so fast that we were in and out in one hour and also there were people waiting as well.

I came here twice in a row for dinner. Absolutely love the kimchi tofu soup here. It is difficult for me to find good ones at home and BCD really brought back the taste that i have not had for so many years. The pork meat in the soup was good quality, not too lean and quite tender. You'll love this place. This place gets crowded but never short of seats as they have 3 storeys worth of tables. The staff were very efficient and friendly.

This spot is well known for their sundubu-jjigae and I highly recommend! One thing I miss about Korea was the amazing food and I’m glad I found a place in NYC that delivers just that. If you’re looking for a place that has great Korean food, try this restaurant. The wait time wasn’t terribly long for a table of two despite the line out the door. I will definitely be back next time I visit!

BCD Tofu House has authentic Korean food that is more than just tofu. Nice, multilevel layout. They have some spicy dishes if that is your thing but also others for those that are not fire breathers. In particular the "heat" (spiciness) is great during colder NYC weather. Conveniently located in MidTown just south of the Empire State Building. Good place.

The place delivers on its name, i.e. the soondubu is quite tasty. The banchan is average with the exception of the fish (jogi), which was excellent. I would have rated BCD higher but there was a server who just wasn't a pleasant person. They should really consider putting her through charm school. If that doesn't work, then perhaps she should try a different line of work. Not everyone is cut out to be part of the service industry in a customer-facing role.

I went Sunday afternoon, and the place was reasonably busy, but we were seated straight away. The decor is nice, but the food is what you really come for, and I found it great value for NYC, and had a couple of nice extra touches that I don't get at some of the other places I frequent, like the little fried fish with the other sides. I loved the tofu soup, and my friend was stuffed with his order. Definitely on my list of places to go back to again.

This is a specialist tofu based Korean restaurant and it we had a brilliant lunch. The staff and ambiance was fantastic and was reasonably priced. The portion sizes were quite big for us but then again in Britain and across Europe, we don’t eat huge quantities. Authentic Korean food and I especially loved the Kimchi!!!

This is one of my stops whenever I’m in New York. The service is quick, their soondubu is authentic, and the banchan is fresh.

I was there this night to have dinner with my boyfriend. The food was cold and flavorless. The restaurant was so dirty. It shouldn’t be called “tofu house” but “💩 house”!

I wanted korean bbq, so went there tonight. It's located in Korean town, can go by R, N,Q,W, B etc at 34 Harold st. Arrive there around 7.45pm, and lots of people waiting. So once arrive there, go to the Host and put your name. Food pretty good, they have almost every Korean main dish. However, for me, the bbq is just OK. They dont have the beef skirt which is actually my favourite. The male manager super nice, but the waitress has no smile, seems like she is upset, but she service well, just dont expect hospitality from her. Lol. Overall, its pretty good, but not that incredible makes me want to come back. I prefer to try other Korean bbq nearby there.

We went there at a 7pm on a weekday and the wait was less than 10 minutes. We both ordered their signature tofu soup/stew and it was excellent. Great, quick service. Would highly recommend.

So many korean restaurants near the Empire State Building to go to but if you want some good tofu soup, go to BCD. It will get crowded and most likely will have to wait at least 15-30mins. but it's worth it. I love that they bring out individual grilled fish for everyone along with the side dishes. You can decide how spicy you want your soup and the seasoning is just right.

Service was poor; dishes were very salty and worst of all, the place had very poor ventilation and you smell like tofu after finishing your dinner. Would not go back again.

I have been craving Korean food for serval months, and all I wanted was some spicy soondubu jjigae the day I found BCD. This place did not disappoint. While the sides were not my favorite, the main jjigae was delicious. I left satisfied with the meal and the service.

Absolutely excellent Korean food ! Great simple dishes including vegetarian and vegan options. I usually get one of the soontofu soups and the seafood or pork dishes and mix them. Very good service and reasonable prices.

On a recent visit to NYC, I had a hankering for Korean BBQ and wandered over to Koreatown near 5th Ave and 32nd St. I had no idea where to eat but eventually noticed many Koreans were gravitating to the BCD Tofu House. When I entered, although it was packed, I was seated immediately and again noticed that the clientele was overwhelmingly young Koreans (which I took as a good sign). The server was prompt, very friendly and although I've been to Korea and know the food well, she helped me decide on a spicy pork BBQ. As always, the meal was accompanied by myriad sides including a very, very nice spicy kimchee. Together with several very cold pilsner beers, the meal was as high quality BBQ as anything I've eaten in Seoul. I will definitely return on my next visit to the Big Apple.

I picked this place after seeing it recommended online, and it certainly didn't disappoint. We paid around $35 dollars for two tofu bibimbaps and drinks, and that included unlimited bowls of kimchi (the staff are very diligent and just keep refilling them whenever they pass by). It's not gourmet, but I really couldn't fault it for the price.

Insider secret: they give you a small crispy fish as a free appetizer, before your meal starts. Went w/ 3 other persons. We shared a Kalbi combo w/ soon doobu (spicy tofu soup) and a mul Naengmyun (cold rice noodles in a chilled beef broth) and a spicy pork BBQ combo w/ another hot soup plus another Mul Maengmyun.! The four of us were full and happy! Side dishes were ok. Service was quick, place was busy. I recommend this as a favorite go to place on 32nd street.

Just went for dinner and really liked it, will be back for sure! Definitely order a combo, it is plenty of food and really yummy! You get a small fried fish, a good sizzling large bowl of your choice of tofu soup (you choose the level of spice), then get the dish - I got fried tofu, served on a delicious salad, and we also got ribs, and shared it all! Comes with a sauce, kimchi, seaweed, raw egg to out in soup and rice!! It was a lot, but is is well done and is not heavy, but nicely satisfying! The place is packed (with Koreans, a good sign) but the wait was not too long. And worth it. The restaurant itself is nothing to talk about deco wise, but it is inexpensive and worth it. Will be back!

BCD Tofu is probably the best soondooboo place in Manhattan. And as such, it almost always comes with lines and waits. However, once you're in, you won't be disappointed with any of their soondooboo options. There are a few combos as well that are well worth it (ie. kalbi + small soondooboo). A little cherry on top is that all orders come with fish as part of your banchan.

There are few vegetarian options. The vegetable soon-tofu is meat based broth, but the tofu is to die for. You need to eat as fast as possible or take the vegetable out quickly. Otherwise, it's too hot, and vegi became too smashes. The kale fried dumplings are excellent, and you must eat with the sauce. The condiment is just ok, nothing special. But overall highly recommended.

The food was great. There was a line and they were busy so were lucky to get in as fast as we did. Shared a couple of plates and it filled us both up. Definitely worth it if you like Korean food and they have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.

It's the third night of our trip and we craved of asian food. Found this BCD with good rating from yelp. The food was satisfying and the customer service was excellent.

the place is in the heart of the city, midtown, so it's not hard to find. Their food was quite nice. Especially their small dishes plates. I love their grilled fish. Crispy and full of flavor. If you don't feel full with your order of main dishes, just ask the waiter to top up your small dishes plates. It's free! that's the best thing about korean food. Order their seafood tofu soup and their BBQ short ribs. Yummy! Come there earlier than dinner time, before 7 pm so you don't have to que very long.

I went in there on a Sunday night around Midnight since I had just flown into the city for business. The place had a few customers even at that hour. Service was very prompt. I was seated immediately and my drink was brought in quickly. They give a wide variety of complimentary Korean starters to sample. Each of them was fresh and unique flavor wise. The Korean BBQ was good - a little sweet for my palate but hot and tasty nonetheless. The place is open 24/7 which was great for my needs. A good meal at a good price

Visited NYC with my wife in winter and having access to piping hot food any time of the day was a life saver. Went there twice, one for late night supper, followed by early breakfast. The soup was flavourful, the sides were delicious. If I ever go back NYC, I will be sure to stay nearby for quick access to this restaurant.

My sister took me to this place, since I adore korean food. I really like the tofu soup, grilled meat and the side disches. The service was good. Too bad that I don't live in ny. I love their tofu soup!

I've only eaten in a Korean barbecue prior to this so I can't compare it to other restaurants like it. For a tasty, filling, and inexpensive late night Korean meal it was very good. I had tofu soup and my partner had beef and tofu over vermicelli noodles. You are also given a table full of little appetizer plates, mostly veggies and tofu but also a small fried fish for each person, to start the meal (free of charge). The restuarant seems to be busy all hours of the day and night.

I always have to stop by BCD tofu house in any city. Mind you, NY has many great late night eats, but if your looking for good cheap food, this is where you go. The staff is on top of it and know what they're doing. Every type of soft tofu soup and side galore. Having a spoiled palate when it comes to korean food, this place doesnt disappoint. I highly reccomend this spot if your hungry and up late.

The restaurant had great Korean food as I expected. The restaurant was clean and big to accommodate many customers. The staffs were friendly and able to get whatever we needed during our meal.

Finding good late-night mid-week dining in NYC is harder than one might think for the city that never sleeps (maybe you know all the right places if you live there, but for a non-local, I found that most places I wanted to go to closed by 10pm). But BCD fit the bill for satisfying post-theatre dining. I had fried tofu to start and then the vegetarian mushroom soon tofu (tofu stew). I like spicy things -- and so I ordered the "Danger" level of spice (the highest). Caution here - this is REALLY spicy. I can really handle a lot of spiciness but this was almost too much for me -- I was able to eat it, but I'd go one notch lower since I think the spice overpowered the flavor a bit. Still, I appreciate that they didn't go easy on me as a non-Asian girl. My fave is still Cho Dong Gol - but this is a good runner-up and definitely fits the bill when you're looking for a satisfying late-night meal.

Went there for lunch and there was quite a wait. We order a rice and a tofu soup and they were good but not as good as we thought. But overall it was one of the best we had in NYC. The place is not bad but will try other ones around next time.

I really like its efficiency when ordering and waiting for food. The appetizer fried fish is nice, and I really love medium spicy beef tofu !

There are a lot of good restaurants in K-Town but no matter how many we visit we always come back to BCD. Don't be too put off by the wait - they turn over the tables quickly and it's bigger inside than it looks. Get the Soon Tofu; you won't be sorry.

BCD Tofu House was my 1st experience with Korean dining and I am so glad we stopped in here. They bring out this lovely array of "banchan" appetizers, and the ones that we had were tasty. I ordered this fantastic glass noodle & tofu dish served in a hot stone bowl. My friend ordered Bimbibap with tofu, and after the waitress was kind enough to show him how to mix it in the hot stone bowl with that amazing hot sauce- we were both hooked. We went back to BCD a couple weeks later because we loved the place so much. The staff was very nice and welcoming and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely be going back.

The place was packed, but we didn't wait long for a seat or for the meal. There was a little something for everyone in the family. The appetizer was a fried fish. We also had tofu stew and some teriyaki dishes. The teriyaki was the favorite. The food was very good. Seemed to be very popular with Koreans.

We had a long day and stopped by after 11p. The servers were very polite and food was also very good. They were clean and timely. We will be back.

The tofu soup is very flavorful and tasty. The staff was quite generous with bringing over the complimentary side dishes too. Solid spot in K-town!

The food here is unbelievable. I wouldn't call it a "value meal" necessarily, but the quality of the food is high despite the restaurant's rather run-down decor. Our family always looks forward to eating here when we visit NYC.

Having lived in Southern California for a few years and used to having BCD tofu, I always visit their branch in this town when visiting NYC. BCD always serves good quality soon tofu stews.. You can pick the meats or vegetables that you want to have in your stews, and the spiciness level. They also serve various side dishes that are great as well! During lunch times, they serve value combo where you can have a smaller size soon tofu soup with BBQ meat. Unfortunately they don't have this set during dinner. This place is always crowded, which testifies to how delicious their stews are!

My family and i went here for dinner on our visit to NYC. The food was delicious and the service was very good. We tired the rice cake, glass noodle with veggies and the pork,

My trip to NYC has proven that TripAdvisor ratings don't work for all cities. Certainly a flop (for me) in NYC. BCD has great food, great service (always CROWDED...isnt that some EVIDENCE?) & ranked waaaaaayyy below 2 other top-ranked TripAdvisor restaurants.

This restaurant offers option of spiciness which is perfect for me especially I have a pretty low tolerance with spicy food. Meal is very enjoyable and service is efficient and friendly.

In the heart of Koreatown. Service was superb. And my go to dish is the kalbi (Sp?) set, or the bugogi set. I've been for lunch and dinner, and take away. Top marks!

I don’t know what’s the big deal about this place. It is loud, dirty, the food mediocre. Seafood tofu soup came w only one shrimp and 2-3 clams, seafood pancake was super oily. It is not that appetizing to dine here.

There's a wide selection of Korean dishes. We shared a delicious Korean pizza appetizer and had 4 different dishes - all raves. West 32nd street in Manhattan is "Korea-town" so there's one Korean restaurant after another, but this is a stand-out. The prices are quite reasonable. If you can find the Empire State Building, you'll find this spot.

We went to BCD Tofu for our 1st meal in NYC. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. A bit pricey in comparison to what we would pay back home. But, this is NYC. We waited about 15 min to be seated but it was a Saturday night. As they seated us, they asked us if we'd like hot barley water or ice water. The side dishes were tasty. The tofu stews weren't bad. You can tell them how mild or spicy you want it to be. If my Dad says it's very spicy without other complaints, then it's good! Different waitresses came by to see if we needed any refills of the side dishes and water. The warm rice porridge after the meal was soothing. Overall, this was a great place to eat as we left with a satisfied tummy.

BCD is a great Korean reaturant located in the midst of many Korean eatery spots, with BCD sometimes crowded due to great food and cool city vibe.

The food was great here. It had the staple Korean fare (like kale, bulgogi, etc.), but the different kinds of tofu soup was a revelation. My favorite is the seafood one. My girls liked the mixed and the vegetable one. a really good experience!

It has many choices of tofu (one of my favourite food ^ ^) n other meat too for meat lover.... "danger" level of spicy or not spicy is all up to u.... LIKE it named "danger" > < For sure will go again: ) *reminder* The restaurant is very strict to allow guest be seated! We have 7 people n one of us was shopping nearby whom would come in 10 mins. Means 6 people is ready be seated but the restaurant didn't allow until 100% people were ready : (

Go as two people, easier to get a seat that way. And go before 6 cause the queue gets wild. Otherwise great value for the quality and amount of food.

Good ethnic food in the Little Korea neighborhood. The complimentary whole fried fish appetizer was a new one on me! LIttle dishes of delicious things accompany your main order, tons of food for the money

They have set lunches which are more affordable and they open v early. Each person who orders a main meal will receive a whole fried fish as appetizer , and small little dishes... The tofu soup is v nice , u can request the spicy level and BBQ pork n spicy pork are awesome too!!

Superb place for authentic Korean food that doesn't burn a hole in your wallet. We had lunch here today and it was a pleasant experience. The staff were very nice and thr choices for food was limited but sufficient. The food was served fresh and the server kept on refilling our sides which was pretty good. Recommend it for anyone in the area.
Best tofu soup in town
My favorite is the seafood tofu soup! It comes with a ton of sides so it will be a filling meal! Very popular and hence busy place in the evening. Service is quick and friendly.
