This is the best deli in NYC! I come here for bagels, chicken salad sandwiches. Oh and best of all! Their delivery is prompt and accurate! During covid 19 Crisis finding reliable delivery is important... so folks, look no further! You can call and place order on phone. They always get specifics right- like eggs over medium, double cheese, hot sauce, lightly toasted onion bagel. Oh yeah. That’s my order! I love love love it here want everyone in nyc to support local... support this amazing establishment during the tough times of covid19. They are kind and authentic. Wishing you the best. Went here on a few mornings during our stay in NYC. The bagels were perfect, the choice of fillings amazing and the staff were so friendlyy and helpful. Quite a busy shop, but the service was very quick, so not much waiting.

It was so busy for breakfast that it felt like a n episode of Seinfeld where you need to know your order and get in through the line. But it was fast service and the wraps were good to get you on the go fast.

There are lots of places to get your bagel schmeared in New York. (No, that’s not a euphemism, but I supposed it could be…) Anyway, Bagels & Schemer sticks to the basic: good food served by good people. Who could ask for more?

Our son live next door, and he loves it. The staff is friendly, and the food is fresh and reasonably priced.

This restaurant was close to our hotel and it turned out to be a really good place. The variety of bagels/toppings was great. They also had various other menu items, but we got the bagels each time. The employees were friendly. Limited seating. Good value for the money.

We had bagels with bacon, egg, and cheese. I wanted to order different bagels and cream cheese too. Bagels were soo good. Room for eating is scarce so be prepared to find a spot other than at the location to eat. I would love to come back to try the schmear and more bagels!!!

Get ready know what you want because this place is busy BUT so worth it! Weekends the line is out the door but have no fear it moves fast. The breakfast bagels/sandwiches are great!

Bagels & Schmear was right beside my hotel. This was my first time in NYC and I was seeking a legit New York bagel experience. I was certainly excited to see that the place next door was in the top #100 out of 10k+ restaurants. B&S is tiny in size, but packs a punch in terms of options and flavors! They offer numerous types of bagels complimented by numerous cream cheese options, muffins, tarts, breakfast sandwiches, desserts and more. I had their "house special" which is a bagel with your choice "schmear", salmon, tomato, red onion, and capers. I chose to have mine on a toasted everything bagel with their scallion cream cheese. This bagel was certainly a handful with a generous serving of cream cheese, and a heaping helping of salmon. The onions and tomatoes were fresh and the capers gave a nice little brine to go with the smooth salmon. I was not disappointed by my first NY bagel experience and would recommend Bagels & Schmear to anyone.

My son and I needed an affordable and yummy breakfast near our hotel. We found this place. The everything bagels were tasty and perfect. For less than $20, we got 2 bagels--one with a schmear--one bagel sandwich, 1 cup of coffee, a bottled water, a bottle of juice, and a $2 tip. The young lady at the register was friendly and helpful. My son's quote, "If bagels tasted like this at (bagel chain in Texas), I would eat there all the time." I wish the bagels here were like the bagels at this shop...warm, just the write crunch/chew on the outside and soft in the inside, and an amazing everything flavor on top and bottom. The coffee was a nice blend, too. We went to a shishi-pupu bakery in SoHo and bought those trendy, wait in a long line, everybody raves about croissant donuts mutants the next day. 4 mutant pastries, milk, and a coffee was $33.75 (and I did NOT tip). The coffee was bitter. We didn't finish eating the mutant pastries and lamented we should have just gone back to Bagels and Schmear down the block.

This place is off the hook. Great service and quick. Wish we had planned for bagels every morning of our stay. (We had an apartment on 29th) The smears and good and the bagels fresh. Do this. You will not regret it!!!

The picture on the counter of the “house special” won me over. Lox, cream cheese, tomato, onion, capers on your choice of bagel. I did a toasted onion bagel. Absolutely fantastic. I could eat that for every breakfast until the cream cheese killed me. The coffee wasn’t bad either. Service was quick and friendly. They weren’t rushing people or being terse while folks looked at the menu. It is a tight space though and not much room to eat. The bagels were wrapped well for on the go chowing down. I will go out of my way on my next NYC visit to eat this again.

The place is a Tight squeeze so --- best not to go on a cold rainy day with big coats and umbrellas and the team of south american speedy fixers and maker chefs are really in a hurry to make up your bagel so boy - you had better be on top of your order but once you know what you want - and it may be a case of trial and error as some of the mixes are not so great - stick to the traditionals and yum yum - super yummy! in your tummy!! New York prices but a cheap meal comparitively.

What a great surprise and great find for delious BAGELS plus other appealing and appetizing toppings. The location is hidden by horrible scaffolding and you must know the address so you can locate this great foodie place. Highly recommended and know you will enjoy! Worth the trip for sure.

So much for amazing NYC bagels. Got sesame, toasted, with veggie cream cheese. Was good. I liked it. Tasted exactly like every single other decent bagel I’ve ever had.

I was visiting NY with some friends and my husband that is American and he said we need to try NY bagels. We did some research and found this place near our hotel, what a discovery! The bagels are delicious, you can put in whatever you want and the staff is really friendly. After 3 days going in every single morning they already remembered our order and chat with us for a bit. Prices are really good for NY and the coffee is also really tasty! They even have vanilla latte <3

Recommended by a friend. Traffic in the store is heavy on this wintry weekday morning which is a good sign that I am going to experience one of the true bagels the city has to offer. The place doesn’t look much from the outside. It has a few chairs lined against one side of the wall for those who are staying. Most people ordered to go. The people behind the counter are very courteous and efficient. Bagels are very chewy than Sara lees. The coffee is very good too. Prices are very reasonable.

Super fresh bagels, excellent tasting cream cheese and so many to choose from. definitely a place to visit if your close to the trade centre area and are in a bagel mood.

A nice cozy spot for a good bagel. I recommend sticking with the bagels. I made the mistake of ordering a hash brown that was ice cold and half cooked.

Staying with friends they recommended this place. Picked up a dozen. Got some xtra thrown in. Very efficient place but know what to get so you don't upset the flow.

Visited whilst on holiday and reading positive reviews so we thought we would give it a try. Was not disappointed! The staff were super friendly and helpful when it came to choosing our bagels. The bagels were super fluffy and plenty big enough to get us through most of the day. I had bacon , egg and cheese and it was amazing!!

We ate here twice on a recent NYC visit. No nonsense service with really great bagels -- the line moves quickly and the prices are reasonable. Our party of seven was a bit challenged to find places to eat, but we managed to get a few seats at sidewalk tables out front. We will come back when we stay in this part of town!

Found this place whilst on business in the city with a little help from trip advisor. I ended up coming back every day to try something different. Current fave: the everything bagel with avocado cream cheese.

Went to visit NYC recently for business. Had the pleasure of trying these guys as it was catered to the office as breakfast each morning. Absolutely amazing bagels and super fresh ingredients. Enjoy your time here!

Real talk: this was my first NY bagel, so I'm not an expert, but I would call myself a bread lover, and that bagel. Damn. Crunchy outside that your teeth sink into with ease, then soft, fluffy, pain de mie goodness in the middle. The scallion cream cheese on the toasted everything bagel was perfect. My husband got the blueberry corn muffin and loved it. One tiny gripe--one of the guys behind the counter seemed a bit irritated that I ordered two more bagels to take home when I went to pay (when we walked in he directed us to order in the back, pay in front). But once I ordered it occurred to me to take some home, which wasn't part of my plan. And it was not busy at all with one person behind me in line. I know, I should have gone through the line again, but I panicked. So ease up, dude!

Visiting the US and unfamiliar with some of the combos, the man was very patient with us explaining what they had. Bagels and ABC wrap were delicious as was the apple cinnamon muffin! Great for a picnic in Central Park.

And reasonable prices (not a given in NYC). So, all in all, a good choice for a quick bite. Efficiency does take priority over formality here, so don't go in expecting Southern charm.

All together I thought the food was ok. I asked for a meatless panini instead it came with turkey. The panini itself was terrible it had tomato,spinach and cheese I took all the cheese out and just ate the tomato with the panini. A good part was that the kids enjoyed a croissant. It was 20 dollars but I don’t think it was worth it.

You go there with your eyes closed to eat on the go. A good real bagel that you can garnish as you like! Fast and friendly service, for breakfast or lunch. Excellent cakes too!

Great bagels and plenty of options also for vegans and vegetarians. Also great NY experience as the ordering and standing in the line is a little hectic.

We were wondering why there are always so many people queuing up there so we had to try it out. They have amazing food and I loved my tuna spread bagle, must try.

We stay near this wonderful little spot every time we are in the City. The food is great, the employees are very nice and unbelievably efficient. Basically there is no place to sit other than about five stools along a ledge so plan on taking it with you. I think they open at 5:30am on weekdays (don't quote me on that) and they are my go to place for breakfast (fabulous coffee) and lunch. See you soon.

The bagels were fresh and fluffy, accompanied by varied schmears that awakened our taste buds. The service was warm, but we found the wait a bit long. Despite this, the friendly atmosphere made us forget the time. We highly recommend trying the smoked salmon bagel!

A couple of doors down from Park South Hotel, this place rocks. Among the best, freshest bagels ever tasted- loved the plain and sesame bagels, but there are lots of others for the more adventurous. Long lines in the morning tell the whole story. Reasonable prices with a real New York feel to the place. Lots of choices for whatever you want on your bagel, also eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, coffee, oh my! Great, efficient and friendly service keeps the line moving. There’s a real NYC vibe to this place. If you want the high end NYC touristy snooty feeling, you won’t find it here , thank goodness. This is the real NYC experience.- honest and yummy. We always come back to this place when in the area .

No need for a long review here. This place is just awesome!!!! Had a their special bagel (the one with their name) and my gosh!!!! Just go there and get some real and serious bagel!!!

Great place for bagel take out. This small snug shop has a few available seating spaces outside. We took ours to go… The display cases take up a large portion of the shop where they have a plethora of items to add to your bagel. Initially, I felt overwhelmed. No need! The very friendly gentleman behind the counter came around to explain each flavor to us. They also have a vast variety of pastries to try. Definitely will be returning. I didn’t grab a coffee, so I cannot review their coffee. It looked like a simple drip coffee set up.

Customer service was awesome. We ordered bagel with cream cheese and the cheese was awesome. Lots of variety. Price was reasonable. Portions were good.They has good sitting space with stools facing the wall. Very busy place but quick service.

Came here for the first time, ordered a dozen bagels (which were fresh and still hot) a few muffins and a bagel sandwich with lox spread and tomato, and a cup of iced hazelnut coffee. Absolutely amazing!!!

We picked up bagels for breakfast, and also sandwiches to eat later. Lots of choices for bagels and cream cheese, and they all tasted great. The sandwich was amazing. I had an Italian sub with roasted red peppers (which I can't find on the menu online, so I can't remember the name of it), which also had balsamic vinegar dressing, and it was one of the best Italian subs I've had. Will definitely be back.

So good we ate our first order straight away and then went back to buy more to take with us for later. More fillings options than you could ever think of, several types of bagel and all fresh baked on site every day. We tried one of the specials and 3 of the everyday varieties and enjoyed them all; especially the pimento olive kind! We found the everything bagel was far superior to the others and would definitely pick this again. There’s a table or 2 outside but this place is more aimed at takeout. Get napkins… they’re messy!

We went here on our trip to Madison park and let me tell you we are so happy to bump into this gem. The bagels we were served were super fresh and warm, the service was extremely fast and best yet everything was super affordable

Yes, the bagels are fabulous, but there are lots of fabulous bagels in this city. What is exceptional is the service and the truly heroic patience and kindness of the staff as you place an order. They give the kind of expert guidance you are surprised to realize you needed (e.g., don’t ask to toast the everything bagel you ordered as it just came out of the oven) and are comforted to learn you’re getting. To the owner - give your staff (and yourself!) a raise!

Having tried a few bagel spots in New York, Bagels & Schmear is top of the list. Seating is limited with high chairs lined up against one side of the wall with the counter stretching throughout the shop on the other side. Recommend going for ham, egg and cheese - the bagel is served hot and is toasted to perfection. The eggs are slightly runny and the cheese is tangy, layered nicely with the han. Fantastic breakfast with a coffee to start your day though you won’t be hungry for a while!

Oh man! This is the place you are looking for!!! We had breakfast bagel sandwiches. To die for!! The muffins were delicious too!! The food was so good, but the staff was so nice and welcoming! Fast service and so worth it! We found this place at the end of our trip!

We had to test all breakfast locations around 27thW/Park Av and this one has the best muffins. The rest of the food is also very good for breakfast and they make good coffee. I had an ABC Bagle which was very rich and good.

I did lots of research prior to our trip to NYC with the hopes of avoiding any tourist traps, and was very happy with what we found at Bagels & Schmear. No fuss & no frills, but the bagels were delicious! My husband said the best he's ever had! Definitely a must if you're in the area - considered bringing some home with us, but didn't in the end & definitely regretted it.

Stopped in this little gem of a deli during our NYC visit and were NOT disappointed! I needed to try an authentic NY Bagel, so that I did! I got a toasted poppyseed with veggie schmear. Hubby got a breakfast sandwich - both were AWESOME! The bagels are perfect and they give you a TON of schmear to enjoy. Hubby reported that his sandwich was amazing, it was full of egg, meat, cheese and hot sauce. We gobbled it all down and washed it away with their homemade OJ. To Die For! Would go back again in an instant!

We were staying nearby on Park Ave. and wanted to get a quick breakfast to bring back. This place hit the spot and it was close by on a side street. They offer really good NY bagels with all the spreads and more. The muffins looked really good too & they have a pretty extensive menu (both breakfast and lunch). The 2nd day I went for something different and it too was very good. The healthy wrap was a burrito with egg whites, spinach, avocado, black beans and salsa in a whole wheat wrap. Great service, friendly staff and they move fast which kept the line moving. Definitely worth a shot. I even took a dozen bagels home with me to freeze. I'll be back next time I'm in town.

Great little establishment. Can be busy, expect a small wait. Service is efficient, lots of people behind the counter to cope with orders. A few stools if available to eat at. Else most people took away. Good selection of bagels and fillings with the menu above with prices. The ‘House Special’ filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese had a photo on the counter, didn’t see a price (-1). Prepare to pay the market price $12-13!

I had a whole wheat everything bagel with cream cheese. It was fantastic. The staff we're extremely friendly and the prices were great.

They were super nice! They gave suggestions and were NOT stingy with the cream cheese! They were soooo good! And the bagels are HUGE!

Loved this place. It is a little hole in the wall and they have the most delicious bagels and offer a wide variety of cream cheeses - including several flavors of vegan cream cheese. We also had iced coffee which was quite good. The giant muffins are very good. Staff is friendly and moves quickly. This place is a keeper.

Great bagels - I kept it simple and got a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese and and Iced Tea. There are a few tables outside- but a lot of the chairs are broken so just be careful when you sit down. It was not super busy especially for a Sunday, and it seemed a little disorganized, mixing things up, bumping into each other... I would just make sure to double check l your order if you go when it is busy!

We had breakfast at Schmear each day for our NYC stay, all of the food was high quality and really tasty. The coffee was ok.

The nuances of a truly great bagel before you get to fill it should be enjoyed - The texture, the crust, and taste. Then, order up the house special - cream cheese, salmon, capers tomato. Lots of filling. It will never be as good anywhere else.

This place was so crazy busy and we had no idea where to order or pick up because there were so many people just standing and waiting for their orders. Thank goodness for some very friendly locals who explained everything to us 😊 We ordered the breakfast sandwich’s and of course bagels with cream cheese schemear and it was all so yummy! It took us a good amount of time to order and then wait for our order so give yourself plenty of time I promise you will not be disappointed!

Wow! What a fantastic sandwich/cake/ bagel shop. A few seats for sit in but mainly takeaway customers. The choice of fillings is incredible and quite overwhelming. Luckily quiet when we arrived but very busy when we left. I opted for the best seller smoked salmon special. My partner was very keen to have pastrami and got it with melted cheese, gherkins and other tasty fillings. Both were superb ! Couldn’t manage any of the delicious looking cakes/ biscuits sadly. Another time for sure. Well worth a visit if you’re in the city. Near to a metro stop making it easy !

Found this place early one cold morning in NYC- definitely worth the walk and the tastiest bagel I have ever had!

We eat these bagels at least twice when visiting NYC - we wait in the very efficient line, pay, and take them to Madison Square Park a few blocks away to eat and watch the dogs run around. They are GREAT bagels, chewy and substantial. If you are an avocado fan, you must try the avocado cream cheese--big chunks of avo (you won't see it listed on the menu board but it's available in the case). The line can be daunting on weekends, but it does move quickly--just be wary of placing complicated special orders because it can disrupt the "machine".

Fabulous bagels, stuffed full of fillings, so good we came back twice during our short break in NYC.

After looking at reviews my boyfriend and I decided to stop by here to grab a bagel for breakfast. $30 for two house special bagels and two bottles of juice, and it was so worth it. Absolutely delicious and would definitely recommend to anyone in this part of town.

We came in @ 5:45 am to get bagels, coffee and sandwiches for later in the day. My husband asked if they sell ice. The guy behind the counter not only gave us free ice, but filled our cooler directly. Everything was great. The bagels are fresh, coffee is strong and the sandwiches are tasty. The next day, the line line was long but went by so quickly. Great establishment!

Highly popular and efficient mid-town classic NYC bagel shop where speed and efficiency and taste are everything. Large selection of all kinds of bagels, heros, paninis and salads. All good for breakfast and lunch.

We stayed at hotel close to this bagel place and decided to give it a try since it had pretty good reviews. Not sure what the hype is about as the bagels are just average, the cream cheese is not creamy, and freshly squeezed orange juice is watered down! I would skip this place.

During our stay in NY I was looking for a place to have breakfast. Found this gem through recommendations and everyone was right. The staff was so helpful explaining the menu options, the bagels and coffee were great. We went back everyday during our stay. Cannot recommend this place enough.

The most delicious bagels we’ve ever had with a great choice of flavours. The cream cheese was amazing, we had to order a 3rd bagel just so we could try another one. The blueberry bagel was our favourite.

Service was incredibly fast, staff is pleasant and polite. It was too crowded to get a seat inside though since it's a small place. But it didn't bother us, we got coffee around the corner and sat and ate there. Lot of delicious pastries and goodies to tempt you as you wait in line too. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a tasty and generously sized bagel for a fair price

Day 2 of a self guided walking (and eating) tour of nyc - woke up craving lox n bagel. This place hits the mark. fast, friendly, delicious! Hubby and I split a house special. It was yummy. we had not looked at the price $11.25... pricey but worth it. They have a long counter for eating. Coffee was really good too.

Alright so we had the pleasure of eating at so many fantastic and diverse places, all met our expectations, but we knew we wanted to try NYC traditional bagels and schmear, and lucky for us it was around the corner of our hotel. Now the queue was nothing to joke about, we saw it one day and decided to go very earl the next morning to beat it. Fantastic, grab the bagel and eat it walking around. Brilliant.

Everyone needs to experience a bagel whilst in NYC. It’s one of the staples like a hot dog is. This cafe is small with bar style seating along the back wall area. The line is consistent and never ending. They just kept filing in one after another. The bagels were amazing! They also had muffins and pastries. They do hot breakfasts also. Can eat in if there is room otherwise is take out. Loved it! Would go back again.

The marble bread is fantastic. Bagels are good and fresh tasting, just not the best NY bagels. It was definitely busy in the morning and the cream cheese is yummy.

We’d picked this place out as it looked amazing and it exceeded expectations! The menu was immense (and a little over facing) but the guy serving us made us feel real welcome, asked what we liked and made some recommendations! We ate a lot of good food on our trip to New York but this was really up there, made the top 3; everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and homemade lemonade…fresh, delicious and could eat it every morning!! We also had an everything bagel with lox, scallion cream cheese, capers and red onion (one of the specials) you have to go here, simple, wholesome food done SO well!!

Well worth it, queued a bit and a trek but really enjoyed them. Had ‘everything but the bagel’ flavoured bagel house special with cream cheese smoked salmon capers etc and one with just cream cheese. Absolutely fabulous

I came here with family for breakfast Friday morning after Thanksgiving. I had chosen this establishment and defnitely made a great choice. I ordered a Bialy toasted with the House Special, Lox, Cream Cheese, Onions, and Capers, it was outstanding. My mom had a great wrap of egg and bacon and cheese, she loved it, my dad had the house so I too which he loved, my sister and her friend had pumpernickels with avocado and cream cheese, they loved it. The three of us natural squeezed orange juice which was excellent, two of us had the coffee. It was a nice experience, but we had a little bit of a incident with a very rude female customer who took a stool from us without even asking, it was a me, myself and I moment and we were not happy about it, the least she could've done was ask politely but no and I didn't like their attitudes, sorry I don't tolerate that kind of behavior from anyone. Other than that we had a great experience and loved the staff who were warm and welcoming. Definitely check out Bagels and Schmear, you'll be glad you did! Highly Recommended!

I went for a bagel and coffee and it cost me $18 something!! It was their special smoked salmon with cream cheese, capers and red onion and a double espresso with milk. I won’t go back, well I can’t afford to. Spent my daily allowance of food at breakfast By the way the bagel was great but the coffee didn’t have enough milk, they let it sit for a few minutes because they didn’t like the look of me, or something, and their attitude was crap

Had a huge 200 person catering for a development reveal. We decided to use bagels and schmear for catering the breakfast. Everything was perfect with their own additions that showed attention to detail. Overall pleasure to deal with and look forward to doing dealing with later on. Enjoy!

This was one of my fav places I visited when in NY two years ago and so when we returned this christmas I was keen to return and was glad to see it had stayed open! Great value and so many options to chose from, this time I loved the onion bagel with cream cheese and salmon, a classic but great none the less!

So to start off my religious values don’t allow me to eat pork. I ordered a whole wheat everything bagel with low fat cream cheese. I come home to eat it and notice it has bacon/ham on it. I go back and the guy at the counter tells me no bacon/ham is on the bagel and it’s veggie. I come back and have my doorman take a look, there’s clearly bacon/ham. I call up and the guy at the counter is not expressing any sort of urgency and tells me the manager is going to call me when he’s “free.” So think about how I felt at that time where I spent an hour of my day for a simple order.

Found this place through trip advisor and even though it was quite a walk in the rain it was worth it!! Excellent bagel selection and so much to choose from to accompany them. Loved it salt and garlic bagel with jalapeno cream cheese and grilled chicken, packed with flavour and so yummy! We couldn't walk past on the way out without grabbing two muffins to go, pistachio and white chocolate raspberry ones to enjoy later on at our hotel with cuppa tea, am sure they will not disappoint!

Not sure where to start other than to say I'm from 9ut of town and wanted some authentic New York bagels while I was here. I'm not normally a huge bagels eater, but these were SO good. The everything bagel was loaded with onion and kosher salt and tasted amazing. We got a dozen to split amongst the family our first day in town and I went back the morning before leaving to get a dozen more to bring with us. There might be better bagel places in NYC, but I was very happy with this one. Also, very friendly service and subway convenient.

Had a quick breakfast here today with my daughter. Super fresh bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese, and blueberry muffin also went down well. The only seating is on high chairs facing a mirror. Otherwise perfect

Went every morning for breakfast, while staying at The Park South Hotel over the holidays. Everything is made in house, had the bagels, kaiser rolls, muffins and cheese cake. All were delicious. Service is fast and friendly. We got everything to go and took it back to our hotel to eat. Place is very small with not much seating.

I am sitting in the airport eating one of the everything bagels I purchased to take home. The bagels are perfect and the staff could not be nicer. I am thinking of staying in this neighborhood on future NY trips so I can eat here. My daughter even liked the tofu cream cheese as a no dairy eater. I was very happy with the normal lox cream cheese.

Bagels are just better in NY and Bagels & Schmear offers up some of the best! Pair an "Everything Bagel" with a hot cup of coffee and its the best breakfast you'll have in the city!

I LOVE the bagels/breakfast sandwiches here; always fresh and tasty! Even more impressive is the staff- they are friendly/funny/kind and work vigorously to keep the line moving. Highly recommend a visit and don’t forget to tip the staff well if you appreciate their stellar service!

My husband and I each ordered a Bagel in the Everything Bagel Bun and we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was! We tried the regular cream cheese and the vegetable cream cheese. I think we prefer the regular cream cheese - and that's pretty much all you need for a good Bagel here 👌

Great place for bagels and a coffee. All kinds of bagels, toppings, sandwiches, and drinks. We got ours and walked over to Madison Square park on a Saturday morning - so pleasant. Highly recommend!

The cream cheese bagel was truly one of the best we ate during our stay. You are served very quickly however there is not much room to sit, it is more like take away.

The BAGELS. Go for the bagels and enjoy. There are just that good. Price is fine and people were pleasant both mornings I went there to get our bagels. Oh, by the way, the banana walnut muffins are worth it too!!!

My husband got sausage, egg and cheese on a plain bagel and it was huge! Hot, cheese, lots of egg. It would have cost just as much if not more for a smaller sandwich at McDonald’s. I got a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese and it had chunks of strawberries in the cream cheese which was nice touch. Their menu is huge. There are about 6 bar stools to eat at but if there is a line it’s hard to sit at them. Ps. If you need a spot for lunch the gyro truck on the corner is delicious and cheap. Huge gyro for $5

Came here in the morning to pick up breakfast and it was full of New Yorkers picking up a bagel and coffee on the way to work! Great bagel and service. Fresh and delicious. And quick too. Would definitely come back. I was kinda surprised it wasn’t more “themed” or something... but then again it’s a real bagel place that’s doing a great job, so I’m not gonna knock a star off because the staff weren’t dressed up in old fashioned aprons and singing frank sinatra hits to satisfy my wants as a tourist!

Found this amazing food experience just round the corner from our hotel. The bagels were amazing as was the cooked breakfast I had, eggs,home style fries, bacon and sausage. The place is always busy with what appear to be both locals and tourists, the service was quick and efficient. A top spot for breakfast

I was staying at a hotel close by and ventured out to find a good bagel . This place is humming . Very busy deli type place . Many bagels and sandwich choices . Was in and out in five minutes . Brought back to hotel to enjoy , and it was as good as it looked . Excellent !! Don’t miss!!

Stopped in for a bagel. So many choices of cream cheese and bagels. They dont skip on the schmear either! A customer tried to being her dog in, but there was a sign posted, the manager was very good about pointing it out to her even though she tried to get her way. I was happy to see an establishment enforce the own rules about no pets. Hole in the wall, bar to sit at, and not near a subway stop really. But worth the walk.

This place just had it right. Fresh bagels, toasted if you like with a wide variety of toppings from local c, to herring salad or white fish salad etc. all sorts of toppings and friendly service. Prices are competitive for the area and the coffee is top notch . Really a good easy spot to like, try them

I always stop by Bagels and Schmear on my way out of New York City so that I can buy a dozen or so bagels to take back to my home city. The bagels are delicious, and they can be frozen and toasted later. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

All I can say is WOW. By far our favourite place for breakfast place for our entire trip to New York. The bagel itself are so fresh and do a huge variety of options to choose from. Our favourite was a breakfast bagel (Bacon/Ham Egg and Cheese) they are to die for. Not only are the bagel options amazing but the sweet treats too! Highly recommend both the chocolate brownies and the large chocolate cookie's both some of the best I’ve ever tasted and so fresh. There was a line most of the time but they get through it very quick so not a long wait at all and glad they’re doing so well! Sad I can’t take this place home with me but will hopefully be back for more soon!

Found this place on Google so decided to drop in for breakfast and yes they have so many varieties of cream cheese. Bagel, toasted with lox cream cheese is divine, add a cup of steamy NY coffee. All good

Oh my gosh, the best bagel I've ever had - and I eat bagels every single day!! Huge, soft, with mounds of soft cream cheese - to die for!! And really inexpensive - breakfast in NYC for $3 or less? Awesome!!

During my time in New York, this was my favorite spot for their signature house special (everything bagel with lox and cream cheese). The staff were always welcoming, and the bagels were incredibly fresh and delicious.

This little bagel shop was next to our Hotel and we popped in for bagels and they were amazing! Lots of choices, eat in or take out, loads of variety of fillings, bagels and non-bagel options. Fresh juices and coffees etc. My husband had the scallion cream cheese, daughter the olive cream cheese and of course mine was the best, the walnut and raisin cream cheese. Very friendly staff and a real little gem on our doorstep.

This place is absolutely amazing. The bagels are so fresh and made right in front of you. The customer service is outstanding they’re all friendly and very happy. There was a line out of the door when we got there yet we still only waited about five minutes. There’s so many toppings to choose from and the pricing is so low for the quality and quantity you get. 10/10 if you’re looking for a NY bagel shop you need to come here.

Really good bagels but I'm not sure about calling it the best in NYC. I think not since they were similar in quality to the bagels I can get from my local place here in the Twin Cities. They do have an impressive variety though and I would definitely come back and try it again if I was in the neighborhood.

We visited Bagel & Schmear for breakfast two consecutive mornings- need I say more??!! This spot reminds me of everything your typical NYC bagel spot would be! They only offer a few counter-style seats, but that was not an issue for us as we were taking our breakfast to go. Bagel and Lox was probably the best I've ever had, followed by a delicious breakfast sandwich the next morning. The other ladies I was with raved about the various cream cheese offerings and how delicious they were. I will always stop by Bagel & Schmear when in the area!

We were staying nearby and luckily stumbled across this gem. It quickly became our breakfast spot on our week long trip. Everything about this place is top class, from the quality of the bagel, freshness of ingredients and the efficiency and friendliness of service. We tried the highly rated Russ & Daughters as well, but Bagels & Schmear sets the standard in my opinion. We hope to return soon to satisfy our cravings for the house special (salmon, cream cheese, capers and red onion).

A 10-minute walk from my hotel. Very good fresh bagels, nice a soft, with soft cream cheese. Available in all sorts of flavours. Very good coffee too. Friendly, patient staff, but wasn't busy at all when i went at 7 am. Small counter to eat at after ordering: no tables [no room!]. Got it to go.

This is a “must stop” place each time I’m in NYC. The breakfast bagel sandwiches are awesome and we bought muffins to eat the next day and they were still super fresh. They’re always busy but the orders are always fast and accurate. Prices are excellent too. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming.

Bagels are delicious. Great variety of bagels and cream cheeses. Staff is friendly and efficient. My wife loved the iced tea she got. Small complaint: no decaf coffee. Definitely my "go-to" bagel place in NYC.

As Brits we wanted to try the whole American Bagel shop experience so whilst staying at the Park South Hotel this week a couple of doors down, my wife, daughter and I stumbled upon this little gem. We mixed with the locals who seem to love the place as there is a constant queue of people flowing through the store. I suppose for Americans the choice was straight forward but for us it was like entering Charlie's Chocolate factory and being told choose something!!!!! The choice was great and never ending, mixing this with that and back again wow. We went in 3 days through our stay and one day went in just for coffees to be asked by the main guy on the checkout "Hey boss, no bagels today? " The staff must recognise all their customers which was a great touch. If you ever visit this part of town or even if you're staying in another part of town, you MUST come here. The guy asked us to return. We told him we definitely would on our next visit. Excellent experience and the locals were so friendly despite rushing around in their busy lives. Love NYC.

We were staying next door at the Park South and they recommended Bagels & Schmear. We loved it! The folks there are so courteous and friendly and the food is delicious. I woke up at 6 am every morning to get coffee and breakfast.

I wanted a bagel for breakfast while in the city. Did no/ disappoint! My husband and I had the house special. Mine on an everything bagel and his on an onion. The bagels were toasted and soo fresh! The special was was cream cheese, lox, lettuce, tomato and onion with capers. I was in heaven👼 Our son had everything bagel w ig th cream cheese, bacon, hashbrowns and eggs. He inhaled his. Our daughter had the quinoa wrap without egg. That was good but probably would have been better with the egg. I would highly recommend stopping here for an authentic NY bagel.

Came here for breakfast and had to step out of the fast-moving line to study all the options. Had a breakfast sandwich and some pastries eventually...very fresh, satisfying, and tasty. You are bound to find something to eat here, and it's a relatively inexpensive place to eat too.

Authentic NY bagels - long lines, but the staff moves you through quickly. Wall counter seats are fine for eating the wonderful bagels. Location is great as well

This fast became our local during our recent stay at the Avalon around the corner. The place is run by really lovely people who were super patient with us. If you aren't a New Yorker, ordering a bagel can be a bit intense, but even if we were a bit indecisive it was only ever service with a smile with these guys. A great selection of freshly made bagels that were light and chewy. also a great selection of cream cheese and the smoked salmon was epic. We'll definitely be regulars again when we return to the city. Please support this lovely local business!

This became my wife and I’d go-to breakfast spot while we were in NYC for our 2nd anniversary. Loud, packed, a little hectic, but so New York that we loved the experience, and the food was excellent too! We tried four different bagel breakfast sandwiches over our time in the city—the house special on an everything bagel was my wife’s favorite and the pastrami, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel was my favorite. The crumb cake was also superb—so buttery! The only reason I went with 4 stars is because the menu is pretty confusing to look at—fortunately, the employees were helpful and explained things to us, because we definitely looked like confused tourists.

We were staying at the hotel next door and didn't want hotel food for breakfast, so we went to Bagels & Schmear for breakfast on both mornings that we were in NYC. The bagel selection is amazing as well as the toppings. The staff is very efficient by pushing the long line through quickly. The coffee is wonderful as well! Can't wait to return the next time I'm in NYC!!

My favorite classic bagel spot in Kips Bay. With so many bagel spots to choose from in the city, it's hard to find the ones that actually sell high quality bagels - this place does. I stop here before any long trip for a quick breakfast, and bring home a dozen bagels every once in a while. If you're in Kips Bay and you're looking for a BEC with SPK that is far better than average, this is where you should go.

My new favorite. Had a plain bagel with extra cream cheese with a cafe au lait, was delicious perfection. Not sure why I'd never heard of them before. The location is perfect if staying next door at the Park South hotel. Had a little wait, not it was worth it. Always looked busy and I understand why. Excellent way to start the day.

Were passing during a morning walk and saw the queue outside. Decided to join when we realised what they were waiting for. Only "criticism"....there's far too many breakfast options to choose from !! We ordered some breakfast wraps which were inexpensive and delicious. Sat at the bar to eat indoors. The queue never eased up. The sign of a great place.

Lucky enough to be staying close by to this bit of bagel heaven. Just finished their house special (cream cheese, lox, tomatoes, red onion and capers) on an onion bagel and trust me when I say it was so delicious I immediately felt like forgiving all my enemies. The bagel was delightfully fresh. The filling was rich and fulfilling. A perfect breakfast. Friendly team as well who happily assisted me as I fumbled, in true British style, with words like lox and scallions. Banging bagels. Eat there or forever be unhappy.

Taken a while to find the right place on trip advisor but I came here last year when I did the marathon and my god best bagel ever! Coming from someone who doesn’t really like bagels I was blown away! The special with smoked salmon, red onion, capers and cream cheese I still fantasise about!!! Defo be coming back here when I return!

Wonderful bagels, friendly staff, good value food, very decent latte. Visited every morning and food never got old, even now I miss it.

Arrived at several times in the morning the past several days and there is always a line almost out the door. The line is orderly and the " regulars" know exactly what they want. I am now a pro yelling the House special, toasted raisen with smear, everything bagel toasted light on smear. I always tell them I want "California " coffee - black coffee no cream. 😀 Bagels can be seen flying in the air. There are two people getting your drinks and ringing u up. Pretty efficient. One really doesn't have time to quiz staff on the other selections on the menu. In fact, I have yet to hear someone order something other than a bagel. Their other items like muffins, croissants, etc may delicious but really don't look like anything special. To be fair, I have not tried them.. Again, I don't hear or see anyone ordering them. Two bagels even with some of their add ins, plus two small drinks has been under $20 consistently for the past four days. Plus they are very efficient. My job is to go down from the ParkSouth Hotel and our morning bagels and coffee and tea.

Don’t let the outside scaffolding ruin this for you. Staff are fantastic, we went on a busy morning where they had maybe 20-30 people in a tiny shop. They knew everyone’s order and the wait was minimal considering. Variety was so good. The bagels themselves unreal.

Bagels w/locks were great. Downfall NO BATHROOM. Small place, seating for 8 only barstools along wall.

Solid spot for bagels and your standard breakfast and deli needs. Plenty of options to choose from and the staff are really nice.

So good! We had the Lox Sandwich and totally enjoyed it! They had a queue, but it went really fast! Good food and good service!
